Lovely place, cozy atmosphere, kind people, nice food quality - all in all a perfect place for starting your day or having a break.

What an amazing small business. Great quality food, lovely setting, friendly staff. Our toddler was given a coluring book and crayons to keep her entertained, there's a book swap shelf, and the food arrived quickly. This place is a really warm and friendly community hub. Highly recommend it. We'll definitely be going back tomorrow.

Katherine and her team of welcoming staff excelled in their hospitality this morning. Our large party of 11 were greeted warmly, seated and served great coffee and delicious food from the Breakfast Menu. Our dogs were equally welcomed and provided with water and a treat. Looking forward to our next visit.

We went here for breakfast as a family. They have a very good menu where you can create your own breakfast from the different items on offer instead of just offering set dishes. The sour dough toast can be hard to eat for kids, so better to get the bagel. Lovely little cafe and friendly service.

Unfortunately come away from my first visit here today a bit disappointed. Stopped off after a long bike ride hoping for a savoury bite. Admittedly arrived (~3.15pm) in the hour before closing (4pm on a Sunday) which is a bit risky but we had some miscommunication about whether they were still serving food and by the time we had committed to stopping there, they told us it was only coffee and cake. Let it go since we were both needing some fuel and a break but the service was just a bit frosty. We ordered some cake and went to sit down only to have to go and prompt a few minutes later after drinks had arrived because we weren't sure if we'd been forgotten. I might have taken the whole situation differently because I was tired so make a judgement on my review, I will try and go again and hopefully it'll be a happier experience but it just felt a bit like we were a hassle when we tried to be polite about it and thanked the staff anyway.

Lovely place where staff make you feel welcome EVERY time you visit. Great choice of food and drinks at reasonable prices. You can sit in or out and takeaway also. Lovely decor and very clean. I now have a loyalty card so can get a free drink once I have 10 stamps.....which will be easy to rack up as am always calling in!!

I visited No.12 a couple of weeks ago, which was a lovely treat as I’ve not been out in a while. We had a lovely time. Wonderful atmosphere, and friendly staff. Great value for money. We had two cups of tea and two homemade scones (which were absolutely delicious) for £8. Great value for money. Really recommend! 5 stars!

I love this little cafe! I was lucky enough to be their first customer when the reopened under new management in April. I visit multiple times each week for their delicious coffee and cakes - I even buy my ground coffee from them now too to take home. Katherine always greets customers with a smile and her team the same. Nothing is too much trouble, they take an interest in their customers genuinely asking how their day is going. They have a small seating area outside and it gets the sun most the day so perfect for sitting and enjoying a chat with friends. Inside is welcoming too with cosy seating areas. I would highly recommend this cafe to all group size and ages - there is something on the menu for everyone!

Really lovely independent Café. We were stopping at the Marriott Hotel opposite and spotted this place. Needed to get bacon sandwiches for the family in readiness for a day in York. Really friendly staff and the food was perfect. Would recommend.

Love it! An array of interesting cakes and pastries on offer in a really cute. Cakes are also so tasty, had a sun dried tomato and something sausage roll that was out of this world! Dogs are welcome too which is just the icing on the cake! I cant recommend this place enough

When I came on here so was shocked to read the comments from a women who thought it was acceptable to bring in her own coffee! All I can say is the staff here have always been nothing short of welcoming and lovely! The coffee is the best I've had in a long time and I had a wonderful scone today also.

Such a lovely little cafe. Katherine is so welcoming and friendly and the coffee is great! I can also vouch for the savoury pastries as well as a particularly yummy blueberry frangipane tart. The cafe has had a lovely makeover since Katherine took over and it’s becoming a regular spot for a hit of caffeine and smiles once I’ve dropped off my children. Highly recommended. Not sure what planet the lady was on who thought it was ok to take her own drinks to a cafe and expect to take up a table...

Not sure what the other peoples bad reviews are about, i love the staff here. They're always chatty, they sell lovely sandwiches made on fresh bread daily. Shame on the people leaving bad reviews for bringing their own coffee in and being told they cant, that's common sense you cant do that lol

Everything about Cafe at No 12 is 5 Star. Catherine who owns it is everything you'd want in a cafe owner. She makes the most outstanding food, incredible coffee and the very best in customer service. She has absolutely nailed it 💯 ❤ They also do Salsa and Sangria Saturday at 4pm. Genius👌 This is my new favourite cafe in York. Courgette and walnut cake to die for and thats after the most sublime Brie and broccoli quiche. Awesome place ☕🥮
