Love this little coffee shop in the centre of York. I've visited both branches, and they serve amazing coffee as well as some great food. Was delighted with the vegan pistachio brownie, which had a right density and flavour combination. The flat white with coconut milk was also lovely, full of flavour and texture, and not coconut dominant. Appreciate that they don't offer WiFi as it is a small place, so you don't want to have people spend hours working on laptops. Highly recommend this to everyone.

Highly recommend! The pancakes are pure perfection! I visited 2 different spring espresso cafes in York and they were both great. Friendly stuff and accommodating, I asked for a change in my order and they were more than happy to adjust it. The pancakes were a massive portion and super yummy with a generous portion of maple syrup. I’m salivating thinking about them! The coffee was excellent! The brownie was delicious but a bit dry. Overall a great place- would definitely visit again!

So good we went back the day after! Honestly the coffee and food were so nice, the people were fab and it was very good value for money. Veggie breakfast and French Toast were amazing and very filling, set us up for a day of sightseeing. Will definitely come back when next in york :)

It took a while to come, but the portion was generous and coffee was quite nice. I'd stop by again for a takeaway coffee.

Great cafe with an inviting atmosphere. Coffee was very good, the owner knows his beans! Tasty American pancakes too, nice and fluffy, not dry. Tables are on the small side, but there's also breathing space around them, and I prefer that to large tables jammed too close together.

Nice little coffee close to the museum park. The place is nice and clean but I didn't like the coffee. It quite too salt for me. But didn't try the rest so wouldn't discard going there see that the products looked delicious and the people where very nice.

Very nice coffee. Offer almond, soy and oat milk as alternatives. One vegan cake option which was a fruity flapjack. Staff were really friendly, place is in a good central location and the atmosphere was very nice. Liked the chairs. Would come back :)

A great brunch spot! The best coffee so far in the UK, strong and hot rather than the usual tepid milky beverage we have been discovering on our travels here. The French toast with raspberry compote and sour cream was simply the best I’ve ever eaten. Not too sweet but fresh and satisfying. Well done team. I wish I could visit again but our train to Scotland is waiting.

If you want a really, REALLY good coffee in York, forget the high-street franchises and pay Spring Espresso a visit. It's a small shop, so internal seating is limited and there is some seating outside. There is a decent menu for breakfast and lunch, and a good selection of pastries (the salted caramel shortbread is wonderful). Looking forward to returning next time I'm in town.

Went in just for a cup of single origin to go. Place was nearly full. Before getting my coffee, I used the bathroom and unfortunately there was no soap in the bathroom. This was a bit disturbing as I watched the staff girl before me leave the toilet and go back to making coffee 😬 The coffee cup was only half full (as pictured) when I did get it, which was disappointing. But as someone who spends a lot of time making 3rd wave coffee... the £3.50 Ethiopia I got was EXCELLENT. Stellar cup. Wish I didn’t have to compromise on the bathroom etiquette being sub par....

This is a really lovely cafe. They have a really nice menu that they serve food from all day. They also have a large variety of cakes that are all delicious! A great, cosy coffee place a short walk from the station with great quality coffee and tasty food. The posh bacon sandwich was amazing, not what I expected but just the right balance of flavours. My flat white(s) was just right, though don't expect a large cup. This was not a problem for me however, I enjoyed two cups throughout my stay. I prefer the decor, furniture and size of the shop to Spring's sister shop nearby. The staff were just as friendly and welcoming. I am no doubt going to return many times over.

On walking around York myself wife & son wanted to use an independent Coffe house, on looking in the shop they were serving in proper cups (bonus) as Covid 19 alot of Coffee houses use takeaway cups only (👎🏻) entering the premises the Gent welcomed us in and advised of the ordering arrangements, we ordered flat white cappuccino and iced Tea along with BLT (specials board) & Slice of chocolate strawberry n cream cake. Both gents in the shop really pleasant and had great customer service, the whole coffee break was fabulous and can't wait to return, thanks chaps table 1 we were at, see you again Jane Neil n Lewis 👍🏻

There are two Spring Espresso locations in York, on Lendal and Fossgate. They're both amazing. Perfectly made coffee and a nice simple menu of food. The cakes are also delicious. The best thing though is the service. They're dog friendly and the staff are amazing. Mostly a young bunch but Tracey, the owner, is brilliant. I travel a lot and love my coffee. I'm very lucky to be able to come home to my favourite coffee shop in the world. Note: neither location has wifi. Bring a book.
