I can honestly say that I would recommend this company 100% to anyone who was having issues with their computer. My issue was for my memory stick that had decided to stop working. It held over 1,500 files. The Apple Store could not help at all. The gentleman who owned the store was so helpful. He recovered all of my data in around 20 mins and even transferred the data back to my computer. All of this was completed for £20! I couldn't be more grateful. The owner was very polite and trustworthy and made me feel at ease in his shop the whole time that I was there. Thank you very much.

I went to the shop to ask about a possible repair to my I Pod Classic, which regrettably they don't do. In the course of the conversation I mentioned I was thinking of changing my laptop as it worked so slowly. Andrew suggested I consider replacing the hard drive with a SSD drive as it would speed up the laptop by up to 4 times as well as giving me double the memory. The price was approximately a quarter the price of a replacement laptop. It took 2 hours for them to change the drive and upload the data onto the hard drive. The difference in my laptop is unbelievable. It works better than when I first purchased it. I am so pleased with the work they did for me and the service I received. I would recommend them.

I had accidentally managed to jam the USB receiver of my wireless mouse into my Chromebook and broken it, too, in the process, but when I tried to pull the receiver out myself, I couldn't manage to get any purchase on it, so I rang the store and took it along the same day. It was extracted in about a minute, and I wasn't even charged for the work. I was told that the USB port looked OK, and this was correct: when I got home again, I popped the new receiver in the same slot and the new mouse worked perfectly straight away, no damage had been done to the port at all, thank goodness. Very happy with the work and the generosity.

Andrew was incredibly helpful. I had knocked some water over on my desk which had my laptop on, I dried it off and at first thought it was fine, but after a while the laptop wouldn't turn on. Unfortunately due to other commitments that day, I didn't make it to the shop until 15 mins before closing time, but despite that Andrew quickly and efficiently took apart the computer, assessed the water damage, fixed it and put it back together all in 15 mins. It was just the quick turnaround I needed in the middle of my revision. A very professional service, that I would happily use again, although hopefully won't need to.

This shop was an absolute godsend for me today. I was having a genuinely terrible day as I was meant to be starting a new job that necessitated online calls and my laptop microphone and camera failed. The man behind the counter who (to my shame, I did not actually get the name of) fixed my laptop even though he did not have time to do so and even though this presumably cost him in terms of time and client satisfaction. I will be forever grateful and I highly recommend this shop. Also he did not presure me to just buy a laptop though I was certainly desperate enough to do so and he did not charge me for his help.

Fantastic service , took husband's laptop in to be looked at thinking I would have to leave it for a few days , but the gentleman fixed it there and then ! Fantastic service after fixing my laptop for a second time! Dropped my laptop down a flight of stairs, buttons were broken, wouldn't switch on, and it wouldn't charge at all. Thought it was gone for good and that I had lost all my work. The staff at dotcom worked so hard, took the whole thing apart and looked at absolutely everything, fixing multiple problems (soldering, sanding down broken buttons to fit them in again, checking my hard drive, fixing the power switch). My laptop was fixed in about an hour and for a cheap price too. Very friendly service and most importantly, they really know their stuff. Would definitely recommend!

My partner left a 2011 MacBook Pro in with Andrew on Late Monday afternoon having been told by Apple Support on numerous occasions and a Genius Bar appointment that the Mac was dead. Andrew called us back at lunchtime next day and that he'd got it up and running - including fixing it he also cleaned up the interior and fixed some over-heating problems that we'd been having. Dot Com are fantastic - they fixed my mac which had been dead for almost 3 weeks and only charged us for 2 hours labour - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Excellent service. Had a problem with a Macbook Air's display which wasn't working properly. As suspected, the guy quickly identified the problem to be a component on the motherboard which was quite hard to replace. Instead, he suggested another cheap and easy solution and executed it in front of me and fixed the problem. Very pleased with the customer service and especially for fixing the laptop without spending a fortune. This is probably the best independent tech-repair shop in Durham, unlike the other shop on the same road called "Laptop and Mobile Hub" which is ran by a thief.

Took a laptop with a noisy fan for repair, mid-day Tuesday and received a call later that day to say the fan couldn't be repaired and a replacement had been ordered. Pleasantly surprised to receive a call 24 hrs later to say the computer was ready to pick up. Total cost for part and labour, cheaper than Curry's standard charge for labour alone. Great service.

Rarely leave a review, if ever, but the service here was amazing. Water damage on my Mac meant I thought it was a complete write off, devastated. But he worked his magic and it's now up and running. Could not recommend more highly. Amazing. At a fair price too.

Excellent service and friendly staff. I came in with a problem with my laptop (the screen's back-light was broken) and it was fixed very quickly (10-15 minutes). On top of that, we noticed a rattling in the laptop and so for no extra charge the laptop was taken apart, the fan was cleaned and the bits of debris removed (plastic that had broken off) which took about one and a half hours because it was so fiddly. I don't know the going rate but a 2nd hand screen with a 40 pin something-or-other cost £50, a new one would have been £75 and a new 30 pin one would be £65.. I don't know if that's a lot or not.. Finally the only small complaint I'd make is that there's no student discount, but that negative is dwarfed by the friendliness, thoroughness of the staff, so I'm still giving 5/5 and I'd definitely recommend.

What a wonderful lady who works in this shop!! My laptop screen was flickering, so I went to the shop at 11am, it was then looked at and fixed by 5pm the same day! Super quick and has done a brilliant job, had no problems since - and only charged me £10! Great Place! Quick Service! Was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. During an upgrade my computer managed to wipe a boot system file, or something along those lines, crashed on Wednesday, took it in Thursday and got it back Friday. Only charged me 40 pounds for two hours of work although he said it took way longer to diagnose the hard drive and re-write the file. I'm a student, I don't have a lot of money but I want to know that the job is being done correctly so my computer wont crash the night before a presentation!

I had my laptop serviced twice by Dot Com System and each time I was over the moon with a quick and professional service provide by Michelle. When my sister had some trouble with her laptop, I didn't hesitate on who to recommend, and relayed their contact number straight away. When I took the laptop, on behalf of my sister, to the shop, Michelle was more then happy to have a look at it. The next day, another member of staff gave my sister a call explaining what the issue was, and suggested purchasing a new hard drive as well as the battery. My sister agreed to it and few days later she received a call to say that the laptop was fixed and the new hard drive has been installed. Once again, on my sister's behalf, I went to the shop to pick it up. I was again served by Michelle who explained what work had been done and reassured me that a new drive had been installed and now the laptop should work fine. When asked if a new battery had been ordered, she was very surprised by it, as she had no knowledge of it, and explained that her colleague must have overlooked it. Apparently, this wasn't the first time. I wasn't put off by this in the slightest as these things sometimes happen and if the situation is handled professionally when it occurs, I won't kick off a fuss. Unfortunately upon returning the laptop to my sister, she experienced a number of problems. She rang the shop again and explained that it was extremely slow, took ages to log in, and once it did, a message on the screen said that "The drive isn't inserted correctly". They agreed to have a look at it and fix it. I subsequently then delivered it back in to to the store on behalf of my sister. On going back to the shop again to pick it up, I was served by a male member of staff, as oppose to Michelle. I initially asked him what the problem was with the laptop and he offered very little explanation. I carried on trying ascertain what had been done, and asked him whether Windows had been reinstalled and the programs (ex. media player) were working. At that point, he advised "I don't know, it should work, I wasn't the one who fixed it". I wasn't happy with this rather dismissive answer and politely suggested whether he could make sure that it was in fact now working. What I experienced next was a beautiful display of 'I can't be bothered' attitude mixed together with ignorance and utter lack of customer service skills. He even went so far as to one point stating ''I absolutely hate those laptops!'' At this point I had had enough, so I picked up the laptop and left. As a result of this poor show of customer service, and being treated in dismissive and disrespectful way, I now have no intention of using Dot Com Systems again. Rating the store 1 star wouldn't be fair, as I am sure that the people who work at that shop are extremely knowledgeable and know exactly how to fix computers. I am also sure that if I had been served by someone else my experience would have been completely different. It is a real shame that the store is being let down by one individual, as prior to this I had always been dealt with in a polite, professional, and friendly manner by Michelle

Bought a computer system from Dot Com about six years ago now, as I prefer the one to one service from a shop such as this, than a large Store. It has had a few little problems over the years...which is to be expected. I have always had first class service from Michelle and Andrew, who do the job promptly & professionally. They are always there for advice. As I'm not a technical guy, its good to know they are there, and they always do a good job at a fair price. No doubt I will need a new tower system soon, and I would'nt go anywhere else.What can I say ...Brilliant !!!!

Really excellent service. I had a major IP fault with my laptop which I need to run my holiday property business and got into something of a panic as all sorts of scenario's played out in my otherwise empty head. First time visit to Durham to try and get passports for my children the day before flying ( they already had their passports and ex wife had lost them !! ) I had problems with the photos as they were more than a month old and had to get new ones in my hands within 30 minutes..... kids were all in London. My laptop stopped taking charge two weeks before my dissertation was due, and when I went in, they were very helpful! He explained what he was doing as he was checking things and showed me what the problem was, which part was the problem and what would need to be done. I never felt like I was being intentionally drowned in technobabble (I'm looking at you, PC World). I was also told when I should expect to have my laptop back by and what I should expect the price to be, so there were no surprises when it came to paying. Having never really had to have a laptop repaired before I can't really compare pricing, but I had my laptop back in under 24 hours and the service was friendly and professional, so I have no complaints.

This is a very good shop but be aware that just around the corner is another computer and phone repair shop that is less scrupulous that tried to fob me off that they were the shop that I had spoken to on the phone and tried to sell me a cheap knockoff recharger... luckily I called him on it and realized I was in the wrong place.
