Good store where you can demo a lot of products. Some staff were great but some not so much… some didn’t look like they cared at all.
Bought a new TV and took it home to find it faulty. Took it back the next day and the guy at the returns desk was super friendly and helpful. They didn’t have the TV in stock anymore for a replacement but said a replacement could be delivered. ‘Free’ deliver option meant waiting over a week later for a TV we’d already naught. It would be £20 extra to have it delivered sooner. We though that was a bit cheeky, seeing as we’d been sold a faulty TV that we’d had to return ourselves. We asked if that could be waived, as this was swapping a faulty TV for a new one and the only reason we were getting it delivered was because they had none in stock in store. The manager refused and said he could do it for £10… for some weird non-logical reason. I said I could go to a John Lewis immediately and get it with no extra cost but he didn’t care. We didn’t want to deal with the fuss he was giving and was being a little bit of a ‘wheeler dealer’. So we accepted, but will no longer be making purchase from Curry’s. Had he honoured the charge, we would have come back.

One of the larger stores, huge range of things on display. There is a lift to the upper floor and good parking with disabled spots right outside the door. Can collect online orders here too. Only bad thing was the range of printers in stock at the store was poor (general shortage) with only HPs available. Had to order online and go back to collect as i didn't want to pay the extra £5 home delivery charge. Staff were friendly but, as is typical, only helpful up to to a point.

I went to Currys and John Lewis on Friday to look at laptops. The service here was just brilliant. I was with a 2 and 4 year old at both stores, however the team here were so knowledgeable, not pushy or biased to a brand and felt more informed than buying online. They also put the kids at ease (Thank you for the balloons).
The service was so good we came back the next day to buy a large family purchase we'd been putting off as felt overwhelmed with choice and often sales bias.
Sorry I didn't catch everyone's names, I came in on Friday 15th April at around 5pm and was helped by 2 Asian gentlemen who were so helpful, not patronising which is important as a female purchasing tech. Because of them we came back the next morning and purchased a Samsung qe85qn94catxxu 85.

Attempting to purchase a washing machine is stressful enough without the website to allow click and collect going down having 'eaten' our vouchers. Needing said washing machine meant a visit to the Reading store. Despite people sitting around 'doing nothing' I was directed to a queue at Customer Service (one serving). Whilst queueing my wife started the process from scratch, found someone to sell her a machine and had it at the front door before I had reached the front of the queue

Set up a cinema room at home and got all my bits from here, staff so helpful!! Got huge tv, surround sound system, mini fridge, lights… cinema room looks amazing!

The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of the edifice. They've got some great quality stuff and the aisles are pretty organised so you're less likely to be confused about where to grab what you want. The extolment ends there for me. I just wish staff were a tad more friendly. It shouldn't be that hard for a job like this. They should invest in quality training of staff with regards to customer relations. All I wanted was a microwave. I hope it lasts or i might come back to reduce the stars and edit this review in total.

Update: click and collect for new mobile. Easy to do and quick. Click the link in the email and you don't even have to go into the store.
Needed a new PC that day. Currys were the easiest to park at and had a decent amount of PCs to choose from.
D. B.
Went in to get a microwave,, they have a very good selection ,,too good too many to get the right one for BUT the staff was very good and we got what I wanted ,,,one full size with a grill

A lot of staff do seem like they never want to be there but when you find that rare one that will actually help you and not just text their way down the main concourse, they can help. Just a shame the store is always feeling like there should be something more there, except for TV's which seems rammed at this point
K. R.
Thank God there is still a brick and mortar electronic stores still open where you can go in and actually look at and try things before you buy like trying to type on different keyboards so you know which key switch you like best. I just love going to Currys but sometimes the price's are slightly more than Amazon and other online retailers.

Popped into the store to purchase a game for XBox. I know nothing about games and needed a little help. We'll a lot of help!
I must say I was a little disappointed as loads of salespeople a round. However some were busy with customers (fab and getting the whole customer service experience, but not me) and others we standing in two's chatting and not interested in their surroundings or customers. Definitely not approachable or appeared to be friendly.
My advice is to them is look around, smile and be proactive as sales people please.
Shame really as they have missed out on sales, which they need.
J. N.
Good service, very helpful staff bought a fridge freezer .. good purchase and no hassle, free delivery
Ł. T.
Great service, helpful and friendly but most of all competent people with excellent knowledge. I have received satisfactory and sincere answers to each of the questions I asked. Even during the return of the equipment, which unfortunately stopped working after a few weeks, I was welcomed and serviced 100% professionally, I had two options to choose from, 1'reimbursement 2 'equipment replacement, the formalities lasted just a few minutes, the equipment was replaced, just remember to always have with you the proof of purchase in such situations, without a receipt, you lose your and someone else's time, and in many cases also your nerves. I highly recommend it, greet the staff, great job

When Dixons was still a high street brand, the staff had product knowledge and customer service skills, since Dixons chose to remove their main brand and become Currys and PC World, it got worse, and now we have the single brand with a bit of Carphone thrown in, its basically a physical Internet store. Staff are rare and when you manage to get one off their phone/away from talking with each other, they literally know nothing and have to Google it, I could have done that. They don't hold stock it seems so everything is 1-10 working days away, you can't buy display stock and the store just feels dead.. Good luck.
O. F.
I will give Curry's full stars. They sorted my broken laptop screen and I couldn't get it done anywhere else. Got it back before the estimated return date. Staff was nice too 👍
M. C.
Had unbelievable service there, and I am incredibly happy with my new TV. Start to finish a great experience!!

My sister in law and I visited this place in search of a washing machine. There are a number of ongoing sales in the shop and thanks to Toby (one of the staff) for his detailed information as we asked a lot of questions in regard to the varieties of washing machines. Finally, we bought the washing machine and left as happy customers. There are parking spaces but as the shop has other adjacent types of shops, these car park spaces can be occupied all. All covid protocols are being observed and all of the staff seen, at the time of our visit, had face masks.

Ordered a PS4 game and a hoover in the Black Friday sales at competitive prices in contrast to Argos and Amazon. We went in at opening to collect them and we had them brought to us within 5 minutes.
There might be younger/inexperienced staff trying to push sales at these stores, but they're quite easy to brush off.
L.
The demo chairs near the gaming section were ripped and loose like they'd not been out together properly or cheaply. Loads of tvs along with some idiot playing bad music through the Bluetooth speakers
M. J.
I visited the Reading store and received excellent customer service from Jay. He was friendly and welcoming. It was a quick transaction with zero fuss. 5*

The products on display were very limited. Many of the kitchen appliance displays were incomplete. We were looking for cooker hoods, and were disappointed with the products on offer. There weren't any staff to ask, so we left.
A. K.
Having seen some of the reviews we were pleasantly surprised by the help given selecting a cordless vacuum cleaner.
When we arrived we could easily see the cleaners but there was a baffling array so we sought guidance and Hafeez Ashraf helped us select a Shark cordless IZ320 version. The difference of buying in store is you gain from the expertise of a specialist like Hafeez and although you can try out in store but it’s not until you use at home you can test the full functionality. We are very impressed with the cleaning power, we were shocked how much dust it brought out of recently cleaned carpets!
We are glad we visited this store and appreciated the professional advice given
C. T.
Store was clean, tidy and airy. Staff were at hand to assist with information. Overigreat shopping experience
A. A.
Staff weren’t as helpful but one guy did try his best to help me by looking for stock etc, hence I’m giving this 3 stars.
S. B.
Good well spaced shop with lots to choose from...only down side is not enough staff and the staff they do have are overworked.be careful buying online.says in stock but then had to wait 3+months and still didn't get the tumble dryer.best to collect in store.

Recently went into store to purchase a new TV. Ishaaq the sales advisor I spoke to was extremely knowledgeable and offered clarity on the perfect TV to meet my criteria. He went the extra mile to ensure I received the best offer available. Both Ishaaq and his manager offered a superb service to make the purchase easy and hassle free; couldn't recommend them enough.

The dyson guy was such an lovely guy. Very passionate about his stuff and the environment.
J. S.
I needed white goods ordered and delivered.
I walked it, was met by Shawn where he helped me pick the appliances I needed, answered my questions to direct me to the correct choices for me, as well as recommended other products I ended up needing.
I spent the money then and there, an absolutely perfect no nonsense sale that got me what I needed with a defined delivery date.
This experience was precisely what I had hoped for and why I came to this store.

Used the no contact pick up at reading
Young person who put freezer in car was very polite and helpful he obviously enjoy his job . visit 18/12/21
A. K.
Good display of goods and quite friendly sales associates. Very pleasant staff.
P.
Very wide variety of electronics. Bought a mobile and a computer however my experience has been that it takes a lot of time since the staff is generally busy attending other customers. Great deals at Currys
T. C.
Staff are patience, knowledgeable and professional. However many of items displayed are out of stock
P. C.
More stuff than customers at this. Took a while to find a member of staff who would engage. Didn't have what I needed.
F. C. o. R.
Good customer service, a nice experience, well done.
M. L.
A good shop for electronics. Hopefully more staff can be employed to cope with volume of customers. Once I was served, the staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Many thanks.
J. C.
Staff is very friendly, lot of things were out of stock when visited, want to get few items out 5 items 4 were out of stock, it was a little bit disappointing. Customer service can be improved sometimes it's very hard to find a staff to help the times I visited otherwise all is good, worth checking online before visiting the store. recommended
A. B.
I just like to go in for a wander round and look at the new gadgets available. I have brought tech stuff from them before and have always got what I was after. Although I brought my previous telly from Argos, due to a special deal they had on a certain model I was looking for. Curry's are a bit more competitive now, but can't be easy trying to match on line companies. It's always best to go and see what you are buying and compare products, which is why Currys are so convenient.
A. B.
Always plenty of items for sale but good luck trying to get served always plenty of staff but they appear to stand around in groups and you do struggle.
A. V.
Staff are helpful. But the speed of serving customers need to be improved
N. Q.
Good range of products. Staff didn't go 'over and above' in their service but ok.
I. E.
went to look for a TV and the young man that helped was such a pleasure to deal with. his knowledge of the TV was great and has service was awesome. sorry I forgot his name as he is the only person that showed any interest in helping me get what I wanted.
R. L.
Collection of an online purchase washing machine, headed to the counter with the big collections signs and was sent to another desk over in the corner. At this desk my enquiry was dealt with very efficiently and my appliance arrived promptly, was assisted by excellent staff member to load onto the van.
C. H.
Very good service when returning faulty item no staff on sales. Dept
P. S.
Curry's is a decent electronics store with an annoying tendency to not have the items you want in stock. Televisions are a great example. I was in store on 15 May, 2021, ready to purchase a Samsung 65" QLED TV. I looked at 5 different models on display, ranging from £1000 - £2000, and they didn't have a single television in stock. In fact most of the televisions on display were floor models, with almost nothing in stock. The kicker here is that they weren't selling the floor models, as without them the TV area would have been empty.
I'm not sure if their stock levels have changed since I wrote this, but due to this stock problem I was forced to purchase a TV elsewhere.
On a different note - today 02 December, 2021, I needed to visit the store for the 2nd time in a week because I wanted to purchase an additional KnowHow warranty for the new laptop I purchased last week. They have a great selection of laptops from most major, and a few specialist, vendors including Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, LG, Microsoft, MSI and more. The continuing 3 star rating is because I was forced to visit the store to add the insurance, as I wasn't asked on the day of purchase and unusually I haven't received an email offering the insurance.
If they would just do a little better they could be a really good store to buy electronics from....if anyone does that anymore.
P. P.
Good range of TVs with plenty of stock available although no sales assistance approach to see if I needed any help.
J. B.
Had to get my laptop repaired as part of the warranty plan. Nice and easy to do, helpful staff who pointed me in the right direction and explained everything clearly. Very well laid out and covid friendly.
S. J.
Store was quiet, and no body was around in the tv section to help find a tv i was after.
T. L.
Very nice two storey shop with lift.
K. T.
Wasn't to busy, helpful sales assistant went out of his way to help me. Plenty of choice most items in stock and can be taken away today. Good parking and wheelchair access.
R. C.
It's a tech shop. Could spend all day in there. What more to say. Prices seem competitive. Loads of parking. Tip: go into the business park by the back way - if approaching from M4 at the main roundabout go over then at next roundabout go left onto Green Park. Then at next roundabout go round and take 3rd exit then turn right immediately. Go through the very narrow width restrictions! Then loads of parking. What's with sitting in the traffic to turn into the main entrance off the A33??? Ssssh, don't tell anyone. Also, when done, go into TKMaxx for some bargain buys! (Diesel clothing at half price etc....). Two birds with one stone. Grab a cold brew in Costa before leaving via the back door, the same way you came in! Dodge all that traffic eh? :)
B. G.
This place is great! Courteous greetings at the door, secure place with distanciation rules, but even more interesting is their great inventory of parts. I bought things, and to my surprise, were on sale but I didn't know; made me save quite a bit of ££
Highly recommended place. Easy car park as well.
I. B.
Brought new cooker very nice polite staff
T. N.
Excellent customer service! Staff Anoop and Michal were especially helpful, would not have purchased what we did without them.
S. U.
Went in to grab a few PC accessories and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, pointed out their resident PC gamer and he helped me decide between a few options I already had in mind and went further to help with a PC/Xbox headset I was buying as a gift for my younger brother which I had specific needs for. Guy with the off green hair, sorry I didn't catch your name, but your service was legendary!
A. F.
Nice big store set on 2 floors with kitchen and white goods on the first floor. Accsess via stairs and lift so available for mobility impaired people and children in buggies and prams or using a trolly. Staff are friendly and helpful. this would be a 5* review except for the fact that from this store location they will not deliver to my postcode in Oxfordshire they won't deliver to postcodes between OX9 & OX13
W. L.
Lots of stock just not many staff asking you if u needed help I left without a product was hoping to buy surround sound but not much info on products ,I'll buy online .
B. E.
This currys is so tidy and the staff know what they are taking about. How can there be such a difference between branches of currys.
B. H.
The staff where very helpful nice store to go to use
C. R.
Picked up a dryer here. Big warehouse type feel.
Multiple appliances and electronics item.
Two levels. Sales staff wasn't bad.
D. C.
I used the click and collect service. It worked very well. My purchase was waiting for me when I arrived and a friendly bloke with a sack truck wheeled it out to my vehicle for me... which was nice.
C. Y.
Friendly customer service.
N. M.
Good store size with range of products. Competitive pricing on most of the products, in my case a gaming laptop in particular. Customer service is lacking and would recommend improvement, left feeling awkward and unimportant. One young lad in the computer area (Dell) was really friendly, helpful, made you feel comfortable and probably the nicest vibe out of all of the staff - I wish all of the others were like him as it would of felt a lot more pleasant! *Simple* 'click and collect' transaction turned in to 30 minutes.
M. A.
Very helpful young man helped us with our query.
P. C.
Generally very good service although I wasn’t a fan of how they ran the store during the pandemic. But that’s over now and it’s back to normal.
m. o.
Good service. Not certain they'll go one step over for customers but maybe its just about the carphone warehouse section
P. B. '.
Staff I have encountered had mediocre knowledge, I also had to shout out "Will anyone take my money" after standing at the till for 10 mins, what was most anyoying was managers were too busy micro managing staff who were already talking with customers, rather than serve me. Might as well close the store and put it all online. I was disgusted.
L. D. J.
Genuinely amazed at the service I have received. Paul, sales person, incredibly helpful, informative, polite and very kind as I am not very IT literate. Thanks to his advice I have a really excellent washing machine. Love it. Delivery men also really professional, informative and thorough in delivering and installing machine. A very positive experience. Various other companies I have used have not been anywhere near a 5 stars rating. So thanks to those involved.
M. T.
Friendly staff with extensive knowledge of the products they sell . A wife range of products available. Close parking and convenient. The store is organised and plenty of items and sections. This is a two floor store.
J. S.
Liked the variety but didn't get my gadget. Staff was supportive but expected bigger inventory and real time update on website
D. ‘. S. L.
Had fabulous service on click and collect when I returned an item today. Caitlin was so helpful and friendly, it is team members like this giving great customer service that makes me happy to use a real shop and not Amazon
F. M.
Came here twice to choose a good tablet. First time was not good, 2 members of staff on in the whole store on a Saturday. Eventually saw a salesman who did not know any of the products I wanted to see, just kept showing me Apple products (which I did not want to buy and told him so),.
Second time was a big improvement, saw a man called Jack who was much better. He listened to what I wanted from the tablet, suggested options and showed me how they worked, no Apple this time, as he actually listened! I was happy to buy from him and am happy with my choice. Excellent!
d. m.
Great prices and discounts, helpful staff, a wide variety of products.
T. T.
Item was out of stock what I wanted but had to order different things but good customer service....helpful
G. D.
The place to go for electrical stuff - as long as you know what you are looking for. Selling is the driver - not necessarily matched with technical know-how.
D. B.
Lots of staff around but not to knowledgeable about the TVs
L. C.
Went to bring some old TVs for recycling, which went well, just left them inside the entrance which was great. Grabbed a USB C mouse while I was there, but that didn't work.
P.
Went to pick up reserved item. There was a box awaiting collection but it was the wrong unit so had to wait for it to be brought from the warehouse.
Customer details could not be entered into their system as it wouldn't accept the address.
Email had to be re-entered despite having been used for reservation. No sign of email receipt so starting to doubt that they got it right.
Apart from that - the item was in stock locally, was same price as best elsewhere and I did get it eventually. Not bad but it wouldn't take much effort to make it really good.
J. W.
I am a very frequent customer here; Currys are the best store on the high street (well, in the retail parks) for TVs, Vacuums and various other electronics, with great deals.
However, the stock in this particular store seems to always run out (I've needed to travel to Oxford, Hayes and Southampton for things in the past). When it does have stock, no problems except the same one that plagues all Currys stores with the constant upsell of insurance and taking of personal details which aren't relevant to the transaction such as email and postcode.
The reason for 3 stars and not 4 is due to when I wanted to return some items I impulse bought on Black Friday - Over £500 of Google Home equipment. Though they processed the return and it was quite tedious for the person doing it, I was first met with a "You bought all of this and now you don't want it?" which seemed like a very unprofessional comment coming from a Manager.
J. B.
I bought a lap top 10 days ago that stopped working. It was replaced by the store but I spent 2 hours there because the man serving me was also serving other people because there were no staff. He did a marvelous job under extreme pressure but if you want to buy anything you need to be there at 9am when the doors open.
K. T.
Curry's PC World is an excellent retail department store which sells electronic products, television sets, mobile telephones at the Carphone Warehouse section, household electrical products, Microsoft packages, anti-virus softwares and even gift cards for buying applications sold on Google Play Store as well as gift cards for other shopping at other retail establishments. In effect, the range of products available on sale is excellent, therefore the consumers' satisfaction is fulfilled. In the past I have bought an external hard drive and a memory stick to connect onto my laptop, SD memory cards to install in my tablet and mobile phones and the anti-virus software for all my electronic devices. Those electronic accessories which I have bought in the past, have been reliable and not at all expensive as far as the prices were concerned. Today, I have bought an anti-virus software (Brand name: Norton) at an excellent price, the cost was £24.99 for the installation of 10 electronic devices. This is the best price I have seen, compared to other retail departments which sells the same product. I took advantage of this price, in effect I have saved a lot of money. The customer service here is excellent. I will come back again in the future.
S. P.
Would have liked a better choice of integrated dishwashers
S. F.
The price match is well used by their staff. Good advice and helpful.
C. N.
The staff are always helpful & have good knowledge about their products.
I want to give them a huge thumbs up for today as it is Saturday of Black Friday weekend, the staff were working very hard to get round to everyone and were very calm with the handful of impatient miserable bah humbugs being snappy & mean to them because of the wait to get served. A great team!
K. C.
Low stock, understaffed, I was helped promptly by the 1 member of staff they had upstair, who was both helpful and knowledgeable.
S. D.
Buying something small, it's no different to any other Curry's PC World. Fairly good, switched on staff who are all fairly knowledgeable.
I went there to buy a fair expensive item (computer), however, and was amazed by how well the team there took care of me, and the manager who talked me through some of the options available with extras etc .
Very helpful and honest, and I received really good advice from them. Very impressed overall by that purchase
R. Y.
Amazing store. THE best PC World we've shopped in. Great selection. Bought a microwave in the sale and a Blink CCTV camera that came with 6 months free Spotify premium that's worth almost £60... we will consider a few more items...
B. C.
Needs to educate their staff on opening times. I was sent to Newbury and found it closed to collect my item. Very angry. But they did sort it in the end. So thank you Currys PC World. Has lovely offers and great products.
E. S.
Busy. Gaggle of staff huddled together laughing and play on on their mobile phones whilst customers waiting. However, a manager /supervisor realised what was going on and abruptly had the playtime session cancelled.
The young lad who eventually dealt with us was kind, polite and helpful. Overall was a pleasant experience even with the initial gaggle issue
W. E.
Parked ok but have to watch bad parking from others. Unable to contact store by phone to see if item ordered and paid for on previous day was ready. Store said they would call but didn't. Long wait when in store for item to be found, checked and boxed. Staff push extended warranty and other services at point of sale.
K. K.
If you ever need something from the PC area try get Jakub he knows more than the other staff
A. W.
Since Coronavirus, this store has gone down in the pan as to regard of customer service!! It is not the same. And everything you as for, it is never in stock or a person cannot be bothered to find it. Maybe was a bad day on that day but, one has to be desperate to go in. Online will have to do for now.
F. S.
I guess it's nice but the staff are never there to provide good service, they just avoid you in a way and then there is only a few I've notice who actually work. Even these people are talking to each other and and give of a sence of that what there conversation its important but it's not from a customer perspective. During when I get my laptop from here the conversation was kind a one word conversation and this seemed like the worker had something better to do, and some of the staffs uniform was very untidy.
F. C.
Friendly, helpful team. Shame their air-conditioning doesn't meet the store needs,so be prepared on hot days.
Team are knowledgeable and greet you with a smile.
T. W.
Went to Curries looking for a new cooker for my boat and was promptly accosted by Richard. This guy really knows his stuff about cookers ( and I'll bet he knows all about all of the kitchen appliances ). With his help a cooker was ordered, along with a spare shelf and what was refreshong, there was no hard sell. He took time out to find out about the type of cooking and went on to advise about cleaning and maintainance. Chose.my cooker, paid the bill and was more than happy to have met Richard. When I move my.boat, get a transfer to my area, I may need you again. That's the good news, now for the bad :- when the delivery drivers arrived, they refused to deliver to my boat and when the CALOR GAS cooker was.inspected, it was for a 240 volt electric supply !!!!!! The delivery team not only let me down, they let themselves down, the excellent staff at the shop down, but most importantly, they let Curries down very badly. Would I order something from Curries again?, a 75% chance I would not. The 5 stars I gave at the start of this review is for the staff I met in the shop, if I had to rate the delivery staff, I would not waste my time refusing to give them one star ( hate ). Curries are steadfastly refusing to deal with my complaint or offer any explanation as to what happened. All they are doing is to send me promotional offers and thanking me for my purchase. Not under any circumstances will I use Curries again, nor will I recommend them. Sorry Richard. Yet again, curries pretending to make offers they cannot stick to. I paid for a delivery which the refused to make. It has now cost me a fortune in chiropractic bills. Curries are refusing to investigate this or offer compensation. Do not believe what they say.
D. S.
Went for Black Friday sale and bought a TV with nice deal. Customer Service is amazing, which I never except especially on that busy day. Humira (might be spelled her name wrong) was too good with her services in TV section.
J. S.
I didn't go here, but while I'm here, they didn't have a single 14" laptop in the 4 closet stores to here, and as I had to goto argos, who did have the said 14"lappy,,, I did speak with a pc World employee online chat help person, he was extremely helpful, but explained home schooling had taken a toll on laptop stocks 👍
c.
Great experience the staff were amazing
R. S.
Exceptional service from click and collect. New washing machine collected in 10 minds on Saturday morning. Counter assistant a pleasure. Warehouse staff efficient. We'll stocked store. Will be back.
M. P.
Fabulous range of products, nicely displayed in organised areas. Internet shopping is ok but it's good to be proper shopping again!
E. W.
Store is great but sometimes sales reps don't know much more than what is online and don't take much initiative when you want something specific.
COVID19 arrangements for online order pick up by car are very good.
S. P.
Best experience - shout out to the two lads that’s helped me with my headphones that got destroyed by my dogs. They helped me get a replacement and chatted with me as well. Also when you read negative reviews ask the question
•Wonder what the customer did to get bad service?”
H. R.
Customer service is fair & reasonable. Just fon't lose uour receipts, thry really help on returns. Irdef got drlivety aldo arriced exactly on time as forecast.
B. W.
Usually it is usually a pleasant experience here. This time it was frustrating. I was told by John Lewis that the item I was looking for in their Reading store would be at PC World Reading (off Jnc 11, M4) as he knew for a fact the item was at a much smaller PC World store.
On arriving I ask one of the assistants. He proceeds to walk me around to one aisle, points to the completely wrong type of item, then tells me they do not have the item in stock. He then proceeds to ask an Indian woman who works at the store if they had the item. She then says we don't have it, looking at the same aisle full of items that was not what I was looking for.
I then began to wonder if either of them actually knew about any of the products in the store, so I walked to the next aisle - there it was 5 Port Cat 5 adapter by TPLINK. Rows and rows of them! Some of them hard even more ports! How could they miss them!
I then went back to the Indian woman and told her that this item was what I was after and this is what it looks like. She smiled and seemed to be happy for me for finding it myself!
Conclusion? One can now see why the march to online shopping is choking stores in our high streets or in out of town stores. If assistants do not really care about customer service and have no clue about the products the store sells, then going online is far simpler and less frustrating. Of course the demise of stores is more complex than my experience above (taxation being a big part of the equation) but how a person is treated when visiting a store stays with that person and can influence whether they even return to said store.

The five stars is for Neil at the team know how desk, he was very helpful, although very short staffed he was had a good sense of humour and I had a good conversation with him. He are me feel at ease as I am not verycomuter savvy. He told me everything I needed to know and all the paperwork.
When I entered the store, many staff were wandering round the store nd on their phones which gave me not a great thought about the store.
One thing I will say is there wernt any repair technicians in the store and it would have been helpful had this been online when I checked this morning as I had to travel from tilehurst by bus to the store.

This store drives me mad. Everytime I go in here it takes at least twenty minutes for me to find what I came in for in the first place. On this particular trip I wanted to purchase a kitchen thermometer which showed as in stock on their website. Having walked through the kitchen department three times, I gave up and eventually found someone to help me, who showed me where they were located - on a bottom shelf, laid flat in their boxes pushed to the back. How on earth is anyone meant to find anything if its hidden with only the barcode end barely showing? There was more than enough room on the shelf for them to be displayed properly.

Helpful staff, some items not available in stock. Easy to socially distance. Open to look around not just click and collect.
S. C.
Its OK. Have had both good service here and not quite so good. Staff are generally helpful and there are plenty of products on display. Weekends can get very busy and as its on a retail park, the car park can get very full. Better off visiting in the evening if possible.

Excellent experience, very helpful staff and left the store with a very good discount!!!

I was helped by Jamal who worked for dell, he helped me and my wife find the perfect laptop for my our needs and explained what other software we required to be up and running - he was much more knowledge and helpful then the currys staff from who where useless and just standing around, he then passed us on to the Epson guy who sold me an eco tank printer and explained the benefits of it and answered all my questions . This has been the best experience in currys from all the stores We've been too they need more staff like these too and are a credit to the company

Great shop like they have a phone shop as well. The returns a bit slow as the phone shop. Staff helpful but there are few won't ask you help if someone looks a bit more "rich" they pass you and asked them first. Other than that they have good offers as well. Best thing you can try out most of the products.

There was some rude customer service in store from the Google department and management but at the end of the expeeirnce, Brandon was very helpful in-store and answered my query!
B.
Conveniently placed store near the stadium, with a large variety of pruducts and price points.
A. B.
A large store, which is somewhat clean. There seam to be a lot of staff, but never one for the department you need. I used click and collect, it would have been quicker to walk in, pick the product I want off of the shelves and walked to a till, paid for it and walk out .

Update: went in to Reading Gate Currys PC World for Black Friday this afternoon. I still had my eye on the premier Samsung Soundbar (now the Q90R). I was told that there were three in stock and took away one (leaving two... I guess). They made the experience painless (too painless for such an expensive piece of kit if you ask me). I went in empty handed; the Samsung rep remembered meand I came out with my hands full. The box is huge! Brought the box home and set the soundbar up. I am happy. The world is right again.
Wanting something REALLY bad never ends well.... I have been watching the Samsung HW-N950 Soundbar online like a hawk. A few weeks ago, the Currys PC World website said that this AMAZING (in my mind) soundbar was reaching the end of its sales cycle as the new improved Q90R soundbar was the new king on the block. According to the website, there was only one HW-N950 left in the whole company and that soundbar was available in their store in Northern Ireland.... I called them and asked if their could ship it to my local store for me to collect... the answer was no.... So imagine my utmost shock and awe and pleasure when I discovered that the very thing I thought had slipped through my grasp forever was presented to me by a Currys employee as the last HW-N950 in store at Reading Gate and available for less than £700.00 (worth £1499.99 when introduced for sale in 2018). I bought it on the word of a Samsung rep and Currys employee. Got home by 7:00p.m and went to bed after midnight trying to get it to work. I spent the day today still trying to get it to work. At 3:30p.m this afternoon I gave up and called Samsung UK support who told me that the soundbar I bought should NOT have been sold as it it a store demo model with locked software that cannot be reset or used at home. It will accept different inputs for up to 3 to 5 minutes then go into a type of standby mode. However, during those 3 to 5 minutes, the thing was glorious, sublime, transcendent.... Which made giving it up all the more.... Painful, wrenching. I am in mourning. Currys PC World has ripped my heart out and fed it to the pigs in front of me. I am VERY tempted to say "bring on Amazon"....

Offered the best deal among all their competitors. Happy overall

A very helpful gentleman helped me to choose the correct freezer size I required. His name was Michael and you could tell he enjoyed his work at Curry's as he smiled and made the buying experience a pleasure.

I was waiting for a computer, and was approached by their friendly broadband expert who quickly introduced himself and sparked up conversation effortlessly about saving money on my broadband, Josh saved me 500 pounds and gave me a better deal, he was very knowledgeable, professional, honest and sincere, the complete opposite of how Pcworld colleagues sell. If you need a good deal on your broadband go and see Josh in store he's very good at his job.

Quite a big store, great variety of choices, although despite its size not all items are always available in stock, make sure to do a reserve and collect before venturing out if you know what you want. Sometimes there is a lack of staff but once you get served, they give you their undivided attention. Checking out may take some time but that's due to their systems. All said, it's a megastore, but your products and that's it.

Walked in served straight away for a new TV , superb service and very polite...

Thank you to the Dell Representative in the Reading store for pushing to find us a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 15.6" Gaming Laptop with Dell Visor and Mixed Reality Headset and Controllers yesterday. It was on an amazing deal and we had already tried the Southampton and Portsmouth stores without any luck. Thank you too Kristian for somehow managing to find both the laptop and headset for us when others couldn't. My husband is really impressed with the quality of both and is having huge fun learning how to use the headset.

I was pleasantly surprised at the service I received whilst shopping in this store. I was served by Manu and his team, they went above and beyond to ensure I was happy.
B. S.
Giant store with lots of tech and good CX service. I will rather go store there to buy than online. No problems of huge car park.
A.
Overall it does have great products, sadly on this occasion the hard drive i wanted was out of stock. Since i only went in on the off chance and didn't check online its not a issue:)

Cracking deal £569 for a 58’ Samsung Smart TV. Bargain!.. I think I saw only 4 left in the offer.
Love the excellent Samsung 58 inch led smart tv I just bought from Curry’s. Really good deal on such a large tv I couldn’t believe my luck.
Was worried is was too big to fit in the car, but staff helped load it in folding back the seats.
Only didn’t give 5 stars because I asked 3 or 4 staff who were wandering around and none seemed interested in helping. Eventually a guy called Boswell seemed able and professional organising the lot and quickly. If there’s a store manager on site, he needs to poke his nose into the shop floor and straighten out business.
Meanwhile, cracking deal, cracking tv. At Curry’s in Reading Gate near B&Q and Smyths toy store.

Currys PC world. Staff is very polite and helpful. It i not easy to shop without their help, but they are very good at providing it! A pleasant experience.
A. M.
Extremely poor onsite customer service. Whenever u order something to pick up at store it takes ages to service you. Better off ordering online and getting it delivered at home.
D. b.
Used the online chat and did click and collect. Easy to find as the assistant at the door pointed me in the right direction
R. I.
Staff who by and large know little more than the information printed on the card by the goods. Limited range in most areas because it covers so many areas. Better than online because you can feel the foods and get the immediately. Worse on price and choice.
F. C.
Is a typical Curry's. Has what you'd expect it to have. The service seems decent too, but of course, I mainly already knew a rough idea of what I was looking for. Quick tip: the entrance has a rather tight barrier squeeze so be careful when entering.
S. M.
Reserved items, 1 of 2 were taken off the shelf the other left to be purchased and cause me a wasted journey. Luckily was able to buy both. No one at the collection counter initially but all was in and out of the store in 5 minutes.
R. L.
Excellent service received from the car phone warehouse employee. Helped me choose the best plan and phone to suit my needs.
G. J. (. S.
Item in stock and able to take away which was good. Layout of telly's did make hard to find what wanted having looked on web first but assistant helped when needed
C. G.
Very quiet, most people wearing masks
Helpful staff
Had what we wanted and purchased
I. I.
Good choice of electronics and gadgets, some staff members are miserable and have no idea about their products except for Arturs he is a great sales assistant and very helpful and friendly.
J. J.
Huge range and nice layout inside, friendly and informed staff are great although the Caroline warehouse area was hugely disappointing with little range and a fairly antisocial staff member. The main store however is fantastic.
G. H.
This a large store located in the Reading Gate Outlet.
The store carries a large selection of electrical items but big items like white goods are likely display only and will require delivery.
Parking is a problem as Reading Gate can be very busy and getting in and out of the parking can be a nightmare.
S. H.
I would recommend this Currys to anyone! The staff went above and beyond to help me purchase my new laptop and accessories.. In particular the two helpful and polite gentlemen who helped me - Hanif and Alex - thank you so much! an absolute 5 star!
M. H.
Good service and advice but, unfortunately they were out of stock of the pc I settled on. They went to a lot of trouble to try to find one but couldn't. I ordered two days later online and it was delivered today.
J. D.
Helpful, friendly service. Bought what we needed. Could have had more staff available though, for customers feeling a bit lost in a large store, or for those customers who really needed advice on products.
O. K.
It's a retail shop what more can I say
j. w.
A good store but not so easy to get into a couple of days before lock down, traffic was bad. But it's a good super store after all.
B. O.
Staff do not know hugely what they are selling, ignorance to the point of mis-selling being told that TVs have certain features they do not have. They also cant seem to keep their display products from beeping, which is frustrating.
D. G.
Confused pricing on the items I was buying, shelf didn't match till system but the guy was super helpful
S. G.
Great service and great team. I brought phone from car phone warehouse. The staff also friendly and helpful.
b. k.
The member of staff I dealt with and his duty manager were both helpful and friendly.

Good range of products but often difficult to find staff help

There is so much stuff here and there is so much information!they have pc components (even if it's a small selection) so many computers and TVs as well as everything's else a tech head would need! All wrapped up with staff that actually know what there talking about! Highly recommended
S. S.
Extremely helpful staff and knowledgeable about the Dyson hair care range.
A. S.
This is a big store, so better than most as it has more in stock. However, staff are not particularly friendly or helpful, but think that goes with the job.
K. C.
Above and beyond a Gentleman called Steve served us and was exceptional, nothing wS too much trouble and we came home very happy customers.
M. E.
This is a pretty large currys with an extensive and large selection of tvs, laptops, computers, white goods and small appliances. There's also a handy carphone warehouse, useful if you need to do a warranty repair. They also stock the more expensive range of drones if that's your bag. There's also a toilet hidden in the corner. What sets this branch apart is that they stock the higher end of products, so there are top end tvs, gaming laptops and pics, etc.. Worth a visit.
S. B.
grate got what I needed will use again
E. W.
Store is great but sometimes sales reps don't know much more than what is online and don't take much initiative when you want something specific. …

Be better if the over helpful under trained staff would leave you alone long enough for you to look at what you came in for.
C. L.
Just had a quick look around didn't buy anything
C. E.
Great Store with a massive selection. Staff were great and knowledgeable.
S. L.
Well organised and quiet.
P. S.
Competitive prices and good range of products from vacuum cleaners to smart speakers all displayed in a spacious store. Plenty of parking spaces.
N. B.
Great service as they assess your needs whilst you queue you up which helps to speed things along and saves any unnecessary waiting
K. C.
Bought a new printer here, good fast service, no hassles
A. V.
Was looking for some custom build Pc, they have couple of them for everyone.
R. O.
They have a good selection of products however I always find the staff never know more about the products than is listed on the price sticker or can give any advice on which products are best for your needs.
J. S.
It has a vast vary of items available to buy and the staff make it easy to find anything or answer any questions
j. a.
Experienced excellent customer service from a young lady called Molly today was really helpful and accommodating thanks

Queues before entering the shop due to Covid and keeping distance. In the shop its not crowded and can browse normally. Staff polite and helpful.

In the Reading store visiting from out of town. A friendly bunch all happy to help and explain.

The girl on customer Service on a icy cold day sitting in the doorway was so cheerful and friendly, very helpful.

Lots of parking space available. Shop is also big and the staffs are friendly. But at the time of FC matches, the area will be crowded. Just confirm before visit.

Excellent range of products. Competitive prices. Helpful staff.
G. T.
Like most places limited stock, but helpful staff.
M. R.
Brilliant click and collect in operation, only waited 15 minutes, and then the item was brought to the car and put in the boot.
L. G.
Doors were not working properly but good store for quick pickup at OK prices. However I have heard some horror false sales tactics going on.

During a 10 minute visit 6 members off staff approached. Store was clean and with easy access. Free car park.

Great selection of product's. Always friendly and helpful staff, that don't jump on you as soon as you enter the store.
