We have just come to the end of the project to turn our house into our dream home in which Adrian not only built us a beautiful single story extension with roof lanterns and large bifold door that extends our previously small kitchen into a gorgeous open plan living area, but also went the extra mile to rework our unusable sloped back garden into a beautiful space where we can't wait to spend our Summer evenings. We obtained a number of competitive quotes for the project, but our final decision was made on the basis that Adrian was the only one who showed a true interest and enthusiasm for the project and he understood exactly what was needed from the moment he saw the plans. He quoted a fixed price which was professionally presented with a detailed breakdown of the work to be done. Despite unexpected issues with the ground at the start of the project where the building inspector insisted that the footings be increased to two and a half times the depth proposed by the architect, the inevitable problems with materials supply because of Covid and the wettest Summer that I can remember, Adrian always found a way to minimize the effect on the overall project schedule and cost without compromising on his vision and philosophy that the work should always be done to the highest quality. Adrian has an eye for detail and will not let anything including even the smallest finishing touches slip past. Adrian takes pride in his communication with clients and we can see why, we were kept fully informed throughout the build with most questions answered within minutes. His team of tradesmen were a joy to have on our property. Their work was always of the highest standard, combined with punctually and a friendly politeness you could not ask for more. They would cleanup the site daily to minimize the stress of such a large project on both us and our neighbors. The quality of the extension has exceeded our expectations and we would recommend Adrian's work without hesitation. Thank you Adrian for restoring our faith in builders!

We used Adrian Berrystone and his contractors for the refurbishment of a 1970s-era house in Swindon, Wilts. The initial plan called for a full refurbishment: New kitchen, new bathrooms, new heating, new lighting, new electrics, new windows & doors as well as a garage conversion and moving a stairwell. During the early stages of work some major structural issues were uncovered. Adrian not only did not drop us as a client because the job ballooned to several times the expected size, but he was also utterly unfazed by the scale of the changes required. These included a new roof, demolition and reconstruction of the majority of the upper floor, re-routing of two sewer lines, damp prevention and the fixing of numerous structural issues with the building. The job went for four months to over a year, involved multiple steel beams , gabion ground works, a septic tank, damp-proof membranes, re-routing gas and electric mains and, at one point, four storeys of scaffolding - all on a difficult site over multiple levels and with narrow access. Adrian and his team are 100% committed to their customer, the standard of their work is impeccable, the competency of their building skills and the quality of the workmanship is the best I've ever seen. My wife and I now have a house that we absolutely adore, a house that is solid, warm, watertight and secure. We have had a a brutal journey getting this house finished, but Adrian has been supportive, determined and as passionate about the finished project as we were. I cannot recommend AP Berrystone enough. If there were more stars available I would add them. If you have any building projects, you should definitely look to employ them.

Adrian did not disappoint!! Adrian was exemplary - Right from the quote though to completion of the project keeping us totally informed, he kept to schedule ensuing all works were completed to a very high standard using top quality materials and trade persons and importantly sticking to his price with no hidden extras. Always difficult choosing the right people to work on your home. We are very glad we chose Adrian and his team. Even through all the setbacks, none of which were caused by Adrian, he never wavered from his vision of the finished build and the results are outstanding. This review is not for work done but for helpfulness / courteousness. I was looking to get a quote for a couple of smaller jobs at my home. I messaged Adrian's company because of the good reviews, and whilst, unfortunately my jobs were too small scale, Adrian had the courtesy to respond quickly to my messages and to give advice about where I may be able to find a tradesman that could help. For that alone, I am giving a good review, because I have tried to contact numerous tradesmen in recent months, and few will even reply, let alone take the time to give advice or try and assist. We had AP Berrystone build our much needed extension on the rear of our property. We made our selection based on those builders who made the effort to quote and it was Adrian’s standard of proposal coupled with the speed of delivery, costs and the knowledge that they were a long standing member of the Federation of Master Builders that we selected them. Our first setback came when the building inspector demanded that the footings be increased to 2 meters in depth due to the clay soil and elevation, this meant a rework of the design provided by the architect to include a suspended floor and clay barrier. Adrian addressed the issue quickly and maintained the build momentum. We had a second setback where the architect had not correctly measured and allowed for the new ceiling to match the existing celling height, with some rework Adrian addressed the architect’s mistake. Adrian and his team were 100% committed to building our extension to a high standard and they achieved that in a timely manner despite the setbacks they had along the way which were not of their making. The site access areas were cleaned on daily basis including the road outside and all delivers were managed by Adrian so as to have little impact the neighbours. We are very pleased with the extension and would recommend AP Berrystone.

AP Berrystone completed a large single-storey extension for us in summer 2012. The work required the removal of the entire rear corner of our property with substantial enlargement of the sitting room and kitchen, plus the addition of a cloakroom. From the first meeting through to the estimate and final execution of the works Adrian and his team were fantastic, even dealing smoothly with some necessary corrections to the architect’s plans and liaising with the kitchen manufacturer. They were extremely considerate, particularly as we were living in the property at the time and effectively having to work around the lack of a kitchen and sitting room for a good deal of the 8-week build duration. The steelwork was not straightforward and required a high degree of skill and experience to construct. Whenever we needed advice on anything at all he was always there to help. Unfortunately, the idea and dream can all too often be followed by a less than happy reality where getting it done takes much longer, is more expensive, gives you more hassle and worry than you ever imagined and in the end never looks quite as good as you thought it would. We are absolutely delighted to say that the reality in having Adrian as our builder has meant that none of the above was true for us. We used APB a couple of years ago to build an extension and are very pleased with the work he and his team accomplished. He is a superb project manager. During our build which was completed in super-quick time, Adrian would arrive early each morning and park close by to organise the deliveries, skips, etc. He works by "just in time" principles which means the site is very tidy with only what is needed for the next day or two's work. He brings a portaloo so while the extension was being built we had minimal disruption - we could come and go as we pleased as all the work was taking place outside the existing house. Finally, when it came to knocking through to the existing kitchen - across the whole depth of the house - this was done quickly with no problems. Adrian prices everything, so you know how much an extra socket will cos for examplet, and it is clear what is included and excluded in his quote - which he stuk to. Staged payments at pre-determined points in the build gave us confidence, too. On completion, within his time estimates, we were so pleased that we agreed to his using photos on his website - they are still there. Some 2 years after the build we recently had an issue - a pair of French doors installed during the build weren't closing and opening smoothly. As soon as we told Adrian he had someone come round, and now they are working perfectly. Top job, and no charge. We confidently recommend him.

On the face of it, through our naive eyes, we had a simple building project to extend over our existing double garage to provide a new master bedroom and en-suite and extra single room. Below this we would take part of the garage floor space and extend the kitchen and do some small modifications to extend the front porch area. Many of the houses on our small estate had already done similar extensions and the plans we had commissioned, drawn and approved all looked simple enough. How wrong we were and equally how fortunate we were in choosing AP Berrystone (APB) to manage the build. We chose APB from our initial shortlist of 5 local builders because we liked the attention to detail in his quote and also his assured manner. The website site he also pointed us towards gave us numerous examples of similar projects he had already successfully delivered. We felt we were in safe hands. The project got underway at a fast pace but soon we were informed of a major problem. It transpired that a good proportion of the outer garage wall was not sitting on a foundation. The building inspectors were called out to view the issue and they were shocked - this house after all was part of a new housing estate built only 18 years ago so how could a problem of this magnitude not have been spotted. The issue for us though was that there was seemingly no way forward, but worse still was that there was no way back either as the garage was deemed unsafe. APB though, through his vast experience, had other ideas and was able to propose a solution that met with the building inspectors approval. Under his guidance a rapid re-drawing of the plans with new structural calculations took place and effectively a crisis was averted. I would like to say that everything after that went according to plan - but it didn't. A plan after all is just a two-dimensional entity. Under the scrutiny of an experienced builder that was tasked with bringing it to life a number of impracticalities with the internal layout were brought to light. As each problem arose though choices and swift solutions were provided and in many instances the final result was better than what we originally envisaged. Much of what APB achieved though was only possible because he employs first rate craftsmen that take pride in a job being done well. They arrive promptly each morning and when it is time to leave they ensure the area is left a tidy as possible. APB insists on this tidiness - an important factor especially as far as the neighbours are concerned. Throughout the whole building process APB strives wherever possible to keep the disruption down to a minimum and with regular meetings and constant updates on progress he helps you to manage the stress levels and stay in control of the project. It has been an incredible journey, with many highs and lows, and we would like to express our sincere thanks to Adrian and his thoroughly professional team for finishing on a high and giving us a house with that WOW factor!

Top Class Finish As most people do nowadays it is to research online other people’s views and opinions on things. I did this in order to find someone to take on a project, respect my home, treat it like it was theirs and fulfil high expectations with minimum fuss, disruption, stress and above all mess. You really are walking into the unknown and have so many unanswered question, worries and hesitations. That’s normal BUT with Adrian and his network of associates and skilled workforce all of those dissipate immediately and the way the build is Project managed is second to none. The key points for me are communication which is superb, cleanliness which again is superb (especially considering it is a building taking place), open and honest discussions and utilisation of a person’s skillset spanning in excess of 30 years and the final result which is all honesty speaks for itself.
