Huge range of fabric and endless amounts of sewing bits and bobs plus tons of craft supplies and much much more. Even a few decent toys for the kids and they even cut keys. My brief review doesn't really do the shop justice. Brilliant shop!

One of my favourite sewing shops. Very reasonable prices with a huge huge selection of fabrics in nearly all types and weights. Friendly knowledgeable staff; lots of buttons and accessories, great generic too such as seam rippers. Good opening hours, parking quite limited but easily reached within 5 minutes of the area

It has so much more than shown on its website, paints, airfix style models, multitude of crafts, dolls house pieces galore, craft for children, lively small tins, 3 d card models, knitting, crochet, needlefelting, diamond painting, quilting, dress making. My husband felt I should have left my credit card behind and just browsed. It is an amazing shop and they are helpful on the phone too.

How incredible! We totally drove 2 hrs just to come and visit this shop! Dog friendly too so I could bring my little floofs in with me. It's the longest little shop and they have SO much stock! Any material you need, they probably have it. The staff were all really very friendly and helped us find everything we were looking for :) thanks!

Aladins cave,that's how my mum described it. She was spot on. Full of gems and amazing ideas at every turn. You could see why the rest of the town was dead - they were all in this shop. Staff were brilliant,knew everything and where it all was. Honestly,if your even slightly interested in a bit of crafting then you need to see this place.

From outside it looks like a small building. But once inside you will find everything you'll need for most hobbies. It's an Aladdin's Cave. It's called the cheap shop and so it is, prices very reasonable.

An amazing place. Just like an Aladdin's cave with all sorts of nooks and crannies filled to the brim for any 'would be' crafter's. Love this shop. It looks smalk from the street but once inside you can get lost in its many aisles which seem to go on forever. I come here to buy wool mainly but there is everything a crafter or hobbyist could want in here, great quilt fabric selection, dressmaking and upholstery fabrics too. The shop entrance is deceptive - it looks much smaller than it is. There is a wide range of yarn (DK, Aran, chunky, super chunky) and of fabric (everything from world war two planes to Harry Potter). Staff are friendly and helpful.

This is a wonderland of crafting. I spent a look f time just looking around in here. The prices are really good and the product quality is amazing. As for the selection, I've never been in a shop that rivals this. This is a haven. The people who work here are lovely and very helpful and I will definitely be coming back. This is by far my favourite crafting shop, from kids supplies, painting supplies to knitting and fabric. It has everything.

This shop is amazing, don't be fooled into thinking this is a small shop. It's full to the brim with beautiful fabric, craft, wool, children's toys and lovely greeting cards. Always my first point of call when I come to Tiptree, and never leave empty handed. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. It's complete heaven and you can spend hours looking around.

I drove for over an hour to get to this shop- it wasn't wasted! A fantastic shop, and huge inside with everything you could possibly want, from fabrics to baking, card crafts, dolls house accessories, furnishings- the list is endless. The staff are friendly and very helpful, Mandy put fabric aside for me and it was there when I called. I only wish it was closer to London!

Absolutely packed with neat crafting stuff. Fabric galore, buttons pins, fasteners, wool, thread, pillows, patterns, paper, ink, model kits, paint.... Strangely bigger on the inside but seems to house everything you'll need for your next creative project. My only concern would be of you have accessibility needs it is very tight and narrow so may be a job getting a wheelchair in.

I visited this truly incredible shop in March 2017 and was simply amazed by all the staff and service I received. As a dressmaker I urgently needed some rare satin fabric in a vivid green colour and I had tried all over Essex and London with no luck. One of my suppliers recommended the Cheap Shop and I was not disappointed. Firstly the fabric and haberdashery team were so helpful over the phone before I even arrived (sending me colours swatches on social media and reassuring directions). When I arrived the fabric had already been selected for me to choose and the team were really helpful with great knowledge. They spent time assisting me and additionally posted me more fabric at a small cost. Four very happy bridesmaids, I will get pictures up after the wedding. Many Thanks Cheap shop, I will be back. This is a great shop and a visit to Tiptree always includes coming here. A great selection of cards and of most things to do with crafts and materials for sewing. Jigsaws, small toys, handy for stocking fillers at Christmas time. From the outside it looks tiny but it goes back a long way, certainly recommend a visit

Lovely small shop you'd think from the street. However, once inside it just goes back, back, back, ending with a great choice in materials etc for the sewer. Lots of hobbies catered for, with gifts, cards and a lot more. Plus key cutting service. As others have previously said, the staff are very knowledgeable, helpful and they make you feel you are the only one in the shop. Even when other people are waiting. Pop into Tesco car park and walk down the road. It's not that far. Very Special Place.

This is a treasure trove of crafting stock with everything from fabric to wool, art and card stock to felting and dolls house miniatures. Well worth a visit. It is cramped and narrow with stock packed in and not always as cheap as its name suggests but a great place nonetheless.

This shop, is like the Tardis. You enter the door, greeted by a smile and then given a shop that never seems to end. Each room provides a crafter, sewer or knitters delight or for the general shopper an opportunity for a new experience. The selection of merchandise is large and as the shop name suggest at very reasonable prices. I particularly enjoy the section involving the many craft kits and build your own models with all the extra materials (paints, glues etc) just a step away. Having a shop like this in the village is a great addition and I will continue to shop here. Concerning staff I have been treated well and find them friendly and helpful and I would therefore assume that the misfortunes from other customers is a rare thing and should not dissuade people from enjoying the shop and getting assistance from people that know what they are doing and would love to help.

Went today, bit trepidatious due to comments below. Couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Despite being a busy Saturday I was helped by lots of different staff who offered their services with a smile. On the downside, I didn't find it particularly cheap but will definitely be going back. Went with husband, expecting there to be lots for him to do in Tiptree whilst I was indulging myself in The Cheap Shop, but unless we missed it there are hardly any shops in the town. Will go alone next time so don't need to rush.
