Excellent facilities and very professional qualified staff. Rooms are good quality, some with en-suite. When i stayed (for 4 weeks during May21) there were 7 other clients, we all got on really well. I was treated for alcholism, today i feel great. I stayed at the step-by-step in Shoeburyness, Essex (called Lighthouse).

Where do I start! This was my fourth time in rehab and I’m confident this was my last. The care, attention to detail, and professional conduct of every single member of the team at step by step has had a profound impact on my life. I would like to personally thank every member of the team for setting me on the right path to a clean, happy, fulfilled future. I have my life back! I went into the Lighthouse Treatment Centre desperate and broken. After finishing the 28 day program I moved into the Supported Housing. Full of nerves and what ifs but I faced my fears and it turned out to be the best decision of my life. I couldn’t do it in my own. The staff are amazing, they understand and what stood out for me the most is that they actually care. I’m happy and content, something I have been searching for 21 years. We have only wonderful things to say about this amazing place. It gave our daughter her life back, to reach her potential, and be the person we always knew she was. Without this intervention we know we would not have our daughter with us today. They are truly professional and enable through a rigorous programme people achieve the sometimes impossible, but they make it happen, they are different, thorough and don't like many other types of recovery places offer just medication they have constructive programmes that are followed everyday. I can not recommend this rehab enough . As a family we will forever be thankful for Grants help, understanding and support . My Dad was in complete self destruction which was heart breaking to see , knowing there was nothing I could do to save him as I was out of my depth and I’d tried everything physically possible Sending a loved one into rehab is such an emotionally devastating and draining experience and thought , however after speaking to Grant he instantly warmed my heart with his advanced empathy and knowledge , I knew that my Dad would be in safe hands and with people that are not only extremely knowledgeable but very passionate about helping others with their recovery . Thankfully my Dad is well on the road to recovery , I have been blessed with more knowledge curtesy of Grants wisdom and most importantly as a family we feeling hopeful and excited about my Dads return home . Very rarely can we say someone has impacted our life’s selflessly , however We most definitely think Grant has , His passion and empathy is beyond any job description and his ability to be mindful and thoughtful in offering advice to family members is unique and most priceless . Grants support and reassurance most definitely helped me to save my Dad which I will forever be thankful for .

Step by step recovery has well and truly changed my entire life around and I have finally got my life back, thanks to all the staff here. They are all brilliant and well trained and it makes it better that they have all been though the same thing so they actually understand. I will never ever forget this place and the people there because this is where I got my life back and actually become happy again. I have a lot of time for everyone there. Well where to begin?.... My brother was very unwell due to being addicted to alcohol for years, to the point where it took over his life and he was gradually losing everything that mattered to him bit by bit... it was absolutely heart breaking to see the state he was in, how he was living and how it was affecting him physically and emotionally... I knew that he needed professional help (and that he needed it quickly!) - I contacted the Lighthouse step by step centre and spoke to Grant - from that moment things started to turn around and after chatting to Grant I knew that it was, without doubt, the best place for my brother to go for the help he so desperately needed - after chatting to Grant himself, my brother was keen to go himself, as he had finally got to the point where he was no longer in denial and realised that the alcohol had complete control over him and he was ready for change... he went in for the 28 day rehab program and everyone at the Lighthouse were amazing! Right from helping him to detox, with the help of medication, through to counselling, group activities and even walks on the beach! 😊 Also they were always wonderful whenever I phoned for updates on how my brother was getting on - they put my mind at rest and from the start they had my complete trust in them - they even came to Colchester to pick my brother up to take him in initially, as he had a wobble and I couldn’t get him to come with me (which was understandable as it must’ve seemed quite daunting even though he wanted to do it!) - He finished the program a couple of days ago and feels so much better now and sounds more like his old (true) self, and I am comforted by knowing that he has ongoing support going forward whenever he feels like he needs it - he’s also keeping in touch with some of the other people that were staying there at the same time as him... Our family will always be forever grateful to the Lighthouse for giving my brother his life back - which is honestly something that I believe he would not have had for much longer had he not have gone on the program - thank you all soo much for everything 👍😊 Paula Moakes

I can’t thank Step by Step enough. The advice and classes I got I hadn’t heard elsewhere and made total sense after years of fail attempts to stop drinking - I’d tried everything before going to the lighthouse to stop drinking and got just worse. Finally I have after 20 years. It’s not been easy but I have my kids back in my life and am looking for work now that I’m not anxious or scared any longer.
