What can I say about Nerys… I’ve been working with Nerys for over a year now and she has been such a blessing in my life. Honestly the most friendly, down to earth and the best therapist I’ve ever met, she instantly just creates a safe environment. She will help you go through your journey and provide with you life saving skills to help you work on yourself. If you are looking for a Top therapist then Nerys is honestly it. You have to put the work in to improve, and some therapists in the past have made that harder, the skills Nerys provides help make it that bit easier. Bite the bullet. Book an appointment. Nerys has truly had a huge impact on my life and has given me the skills to manage my emotions and challenge my thought processes through DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy). She is incredibly knowledgeable, kind and a great listener and has helped me to retrain my mind and has taught me to challenge any negative thoughts that I have. She has helped me so much and given me the confidence to recognise that I have the ability to be in control of my emotions - my feelings are valid but it is how we manage them. I was struggling so much with my mental health however, with Nerys’s support and guidance I now have the skills to overcome certain challenges regarding my mental health and I have learnt to not get so overwhelmed with my emotions by channeling “wise mind” and focusing on grounding techniques such as meditation. I found Nerys online looking for a therapist that could help me understand more about me and the reasons behind it. Not being able to express how I felt often resulted in me being frustrated and short of patience with those closest to me. Nerys helped me to discover that it was that i merely lacked an emotional vocabulary and this in turn resulted in my frustrations not being able to find the right words to suit my emotions which was then expressed as anger. I contacted her by email initially and then all our sessions have been carried out over Zoom face to face Being a man; I can honestly say, there is still so much pressure out there still for men to "man up" despite so much focus on men's mental health and managing mental health, this can result in many of us still suffering in silence. Nerys understands that everyone's struggle is different and we are not all a generic fix, this is why I whole heartedly recommend the support services she has to offer. Words cannot begin to explain the changes in my day to day life and the joy I find in being able to say what I'm feeling and how it makes me feel. I would highly recommend Dr Owen who was able to help me overcome symptoms of anxiety and eating disorder that linked back to childhood trauma. We used a number of techniques such as CBT and EMDR to help understand and treat the cause and effects of my symptoms. It is a year on since finishing my treatment and I have now fully recovered from my extremely controlling eating habits and I am able to effectively mange my anxiety using techniques learnt in my sessions. I am as a result much happier and more confident in myself. Nerys makes you feel completely comfortable and at ease during sessions and she is very informative and provides you with materials you can use independantly outside of sessions.

My first experience of anything like this, I was put onto it by my wife's concerns for my state of mind. I started counselling sceptical, of the business generally and EMDR in particular. Now, I'm convinced of the benefits. It took a bit of patience - the first few sessions were "just" talking about background stuff, not really (it seemed) addressing anything per se. But this research quickly uncovered an issue of arguably greater importance than the one I was ostensibly there to talk about, an issue we addressed first and I have to say staggeringly efficiently. We then moved onto the EMDR, and again I was sceptical but cannot stress how effective this superficially simple technique was for me. Dr. Owen is easy to talk with, even (especially?) via Zoom. I cannot recommend her and EMDR enough. My wife is also glad to have me back to my old self. Thanks Nerys!

After many false starts with therapy and other therapist, I felt like I would never find the help I needed to start my path to recovery. I had been struggling for a long time and had finally receive a diagnosis from a psychiatrist who suggested I try again, with DBT. Nerys made me feel welcome, listened to, and like a friend during our sessions which made me look forward to the next, excited to share the positive changes I had made and how I was progressing in my journey. I was apprehensive at the start, but quickly got used to the format of the sessions and the way that coping strategies with taught to me DBT has changed my life for the better and I can safely say that I am able to manage my emotions a lot easier than before. I could not recommend Dr Nerys Owen enough!! After seeing a few different counsellors for my issues and getting nowhere, I was initally reluctant to pursue yet another avenue, but I instantly felt at ease with Nerys! She is extremely professional, but also very warm and welcoming. Previous treatment options have just been briefly explained to me, and I have been launched straight in, which ultimately has not worked, and in fact caused more distress! Nerys took the time to listen thoroughly, formulate a plan, explain all the options in detail, and why she thought our chosen treatment course was the most appropriate. I had preparation sessions, and everything was at my pace! She does not sugar coat anything, and will be open and honest about what to expect, which is what I needed! My treatment was not easy, but I knew it wouldnt be, and Nerys was amazing throughout! And I have now gotten further with Nerys than I ever have! I feel better now than I have done for a long long time. I always felt listened to, validated, and respected! She has taught me valuable coping skills, which can be used in all aspects of daily life.
