Ceilidh DJ solo set Hi Schuggie, My husband and I just wanted to say thankyou so much for a brilliant night! Everyone loved the ceilidh dancing and you did a great job of getting everyone up to dance. Our wedding guests came from Scotland, Ireland, England and Jamaica so we had those who have danced at Ceilidhs before and many who had never even heard of one! However the dancefloor was always full and it was great to see everyone dancing together from the young to the old. The children loved it and it helped to keep them entertained! The hats were also a fantastic idea and enjoyed by everyone particularly the older generation! We would also like to say that it was all very well planned, and the zoom meetings before the big day were also really helpful. Schuggie you were also so helpful and friendly, you put us at ease and thankyou so much for taking charge of the music for our First Dance. You looked the part and one guest in particular who isn't so familiar with Scottish wedding attire was delighted to know you only wear glitter under your kilt!! Thankyou again Mr and Mrs Connolly

We booked Schuggies Ceilidhs for our wedding reception in April 2020...due to the COVID pandemic we had to rearrange multiple times and Schuggie was incredibly understanding and helpful throughout. We were able to finally celebrate in April 2022 and we couldn't have been happier with Schuggie and the Big Moose Ceilidh Band. They did an amazing job of making everyone feel welcome and included (from the very young to the old!). We've received many positive comments from friends and family at how much fun they had and definitely have a few ceilidh converts in the bunch! For my husband and I, it was the best thing to see all our friends and family dancing, socialising and having fun together.

Thankyou so much to Schuggie and the Big Moose Ceilidh Band! Everyone can't stop talking about how wonderful the Ceilidh was and it was so great to see everyone getting involved! The coordinator said she's never seen the room so alive and it made our wedding truly special - thankyou! The band are really great at getting everyone moving and reading the room, we did 2x 40min slots of dancing and everyone (even though the majority had never attended a Ceilidh) had a go and loved it!

Schuggie and the Big Moose Band were the absolute highlight of our wedding. The band got everyone up and dancing and kept the mood really high throughout the night. It brought together the Scottish and non- Scottish people at the wedding perfectly; Schuggie was superb! His glittery beard definitely featured in a lot of photos 😀 We had to rearrange our wedding a few times because of Covid, but Schuggie was completely understanding and helpful throughout. The music, dancing and atmosphere was fantastic and we would thoroughly recommend for anyone organising an event to book with Schuggie. He took the time ahead of the event to discuss the evening with us to make sure it went exactly how we wanted, and the hip flasks and games were a great touch! We would not hesitate to have Schuggie run another event for us, it was a great evening.

My wife and I were guests at a wedding where Schuggie and the Big Moose Ceilidh Band performed in 2021. We really loved how easy and social the dancing was so we knew we wanted them for our combined big birthday and 25th-anniversary celebrations. It was a super night. Everyone loved the dancing, the music and Schuggies positive approach. Communication about our event was excellent from start to finish, requests for specific lighting sourced without fuss and our playlist tunes weaved between dance sets It was canny to see friends and family all dancing together, enjoying themselves in such a wonderful atmosphere.

We booked Schuggie for our wedding in June 2022. Communication was great from the outset, always responsive and easy way to book slots. Schuggie was always full of energy and enthusiasm. On the day Schuggie and the band provided great entertainment through the ceilidh as well as playing some cover songs as well. Schuggie adapted the ceilidh so that it suited the number of people and space available. Schuggie arrived earlier so that we could use his speakers and mics for the whole wedding reception. We have just put on a St. Andrew's dinner and ceilidh that would usually have over 50 guests. This year there were only 25 and we were concerned that we wouldn't have the usual lively atmosphere with so few people in a large function suite. We needn't have worried. Schuggie acted as our MC as well as running the ceilidh and he did a fantastic job. Everything was carefully planned, the choice of music and dances was spot on and everyone who could walk got up to join in the dancing. It was a great evening, largely thanks to Schuggie.

We had Schuggie and The Big Moose Ceilidh Band deliver a wonderful ceilidh for us at our wedding last weekend. Guests have commented on how much fun it was, and many have been completely converted despite never having heard of a ceilidh before! Schuggie was great from the moment we first spoke to him to enquire about having a ceilidh at our wedding, back in 2019. He had loads of good ideas and was great at giving us the reassurance that everything was under control so we didn't need to worry. This was particularly helpful when we had to postpone our wedding due to Covid - Schuggie was completely accommodating and sympathetic and made the transfer to the new date completely stress free. The music on the night was great, and Schuggie got everyone involved and onto the dancefloor. We only wish that we'd ceilidh-d on until midnight because it was so fun!!

We would highly recommend Schuggie and The Big Moose Ceilidh Band for a wedding or any other function. The band recently made the trip over the water to Guernsey (in the Channel Islands) to be our wedding band. Schuggie was particularly accommodating and flexible during the planning process in run up (including rearranging the date twice at no extra cost, despite the band having to rearrange their travel and accommodation). Closer to the time he also arranged chats with us to go through running order on the day. On the night itself Schuggie’s calling of the dances (explaining the steps) was brilliant, as two-thirds of our guests had never been to a ceilidh before. He talked everyone through it and was also hilarious with his memorable descriptions (a Matt Hancock being a fave move). Our numbers were about 40 but the dance floor was always full thanks to Schuggie’s encouragement, and even those who weren’t able to dance were made to feel part of it by being made dance judges! Our guests all had a fantastic time and there are now many ceilidh converts in Guernsey! Many thanks to Schuggie and the Big Moose Ceilidh Band.

Fantastic evening at our wedding on 30/7/21. We contacted Schuggie and arranged for him to provide his Ceilidh DJ solo set. Everything was so easy to arrange and Schuggie talked us through the options and was so flexible to accommodate our wishes. We had a couple more planning meetings as the date drew closer and Boris gave us the green light. So glad we chose Schuggie. Everyone loved the ceilidh dancing and Schuggie did a great job of getting everyone up to dance. Even the non-dancers joined in and had a brilliant time. We all needed a party and what a party it was. It was great to see guests from different parts of your lives socialising and enjoying themselves together. Can’t recommend Schuggie enough. The BEST ceilidh caller we've ever met! We hired Shuggie to do the ceilidh at our wedding reception last year after a friend's recommendation, & feel so so grateful to have had him- it was way better than we could have imagined. Most of our friends & family had never been to a ceillidh but so many have told us since how they absolutely loved it, & so much of that being down to Shuggie. He's the perfect balance of charisma to get folk involved & having fun, but without being too forceful. He's knowledgeable (also being Scottish), explained /demonstrated the dances with ease, & he happily accomodated our request for mostly Scottish dances (being from /having lived in Scotland ourselves). Shuggie also showed us really excellent customer service & professionalism from the start, & is a really kind & decent guy too. We couldn't rate him higher.

Schuggie's ceilidhs are amazing. Everyone will get up and dance, Schuggie makes this possible. Every dance is called. You and your guests will just smile all night. It's just a laugh from start to finish. Our wedding guests were aged from 5 to 75 and all enjoyed it. We are not Scottish but why let them have all the fun. If you need any persuasion there are normally ceilidhs you can try it out. Be aware they are addictive and will cause you to know how to scooch and floss...lol Thank you for all you did best wedding ever.

We booked Schuggie for our company away day, and had the best time. The traditional dances got all the team together and bonding, and was probably the main source of laughter on the night. They then moved onto playing some pop tunes, which they did brilliantly and was much better than having it coming from a phone/CD player. We even did some makeshift karaoke towards the end, which was a laugh. The booking process was really easy and all the guys were great to talk to and no hassle at all - would definitely do it again:)

I had Schuggies’ Ceilidh band for my 21st party. They arrived early to help set up and went above and beyond to make sure everybody had a good time. Schuggie was super friendly to all the guests. Admittedly, a lot of the guests were drunk and didn’t listen first time, yet Schuggie stayed patient and fun despite us, as students, testing his patience I’m sure! Schuggie's ceilidhs are always a blast! He caters for all abilities and all ages. My last ceilidh had people from 7 to 70 and they all immensely enjoyed it. The one before was entirely students. Schuggie understood each crowd (and their limitations) and ensured that he catered for them. Unfortunately no (sensible) photos to post as everyone was having too much fun. Booking/paying is a breeze and gives sound advice for first-time ceilidh organisers.

I've known Dougie for a long time, and his ceilidh events are always a blast. He is synonymous with ceilidhs and folk dancing now, and in my opinion, has made them accessible and enjoyable to everyone, and not just people who are experienced dancers and folk enthusiasts.
