Going to the dentist is usually a nerve racking experience, but Simon's warm and relaxed demeanor put me at ease immediately. He talked me through everything he was doing and the options I had very clearly, which was so refreshing. I experienced no pain at all, and he repeatedly checked that I was doing okay and reassured me throughout the treatment. I recently had extensive dental work completed at Horfield Dental Care and wanted to share my positive experience. From my initial call, the practice staff met me with a friendly and professional team that made the process of booking, paying and attending the practice during covid. I am neurodiverse and find booking, management and attending dental appointments challenging to manage at times. However, my dentist Simon Cottel, and the front desk staff at the practice spent the time to explain the treatment options available and appointments that would be required. As a result, I felt informed and never felt pressured into more expensive treatment options. During my treatment, Simon and his dental nurse did everything to ensure I was as comfortable as possible. My visit to Horfield Dental Care was the first time I have visited a dentist without extensive pain during fillings and cleaning. I can't recommend this practice, Simon and his dental assistant enough. I hope I don't have to return too soon, though!

A surprisingly pleasant experience and friendly staff despite all the challenges the pandemic is causing. I saw Simon, and honestly its probably been the best dental experience i've had in Bristol - most other dentists just try to get you in and out, but Simon took some photos of my teeth and sat me down to explain what was going on and where some issues were. I found this clarity actually helped a lot of with my nerves of going to dentist as I knew what was actually being done to my teeth instead of just going along for the ride! For once I'm feeling loads better about coming back from a dentist and knowing what I can be doing better, so its great treatment and good bit of learning on-top as well

I am immensely impressed with the quality of service I experienced at this dentist practice today. The protocols around safety were excellent. The cheerfulness of the staff was extraordinary. Simon who treated me was clear, helpful and extremely professional. Simon is an amazing dentist - he also communicates in a friendly way. He also encouraged me - by saying that I am taking care of my teeth!! The nurse who greeted me was outstanding in her approach. The receptionist was amazingly helpful. I recommend this practice without reservation. I have one point of improvement: could you very kindly tighten up the bike stand - it is a bit loose (and I have had two bikes stolen in Bristol)!!

Had my teeth checked and cleaned by hygenist Lisa from Wales. She was wonderful, pleasant and had a light hand which meant hardly any pain when cleaning drill tool used. Her assitant was just as helpful. Very happy with Dental clinic. The previous hygenist I had was horrible and rude. Was glad with change asked for. Had another hygenist visit today (9/12/22). Alla did the cleaning process. Wonderful work. Careful and good work done.

Simon has been my dentist for past few years. His workmanship is first class as is his depth of knowledge. His sdvice is always comprehensive and considered for your budget. However what I really appreciate is his relaxed manner which puts you at your ease and gives you confidence. Receptionists and nurses always friendly and helpful.

Without doubt the best dentist I have ever had. I was never a good patient (very nervous and would even avoid going). All the staff were extremely friendly, kind and professional throughout. I have been going to this dental practice for over 30 years and the thought of going elsewhere would freak me out. Dr Chan is so calming and makes you feel at ease and as relaxed as one can be at the dentist. After bad childhood experiences I am an anxious patient but religiously go ever 6 months even though it terrifies me. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the hygienist is also very friendly and, again, makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. You have my vote!

I was recommended Horfield Dental by a friend who was undergoing their ABC (Align, Brighten and Contour) treatment. I couldn’t believe what a difference it was making within such a short time frame, so I booked a consultation - I noticed that my teeth were moving with age, but didn’t know if anything could be done. From beginning to end the experience with Horfield Dental (and Dr Chan) has been brilliant. Professional and friendly service. Detailed treatment plan and immediate responses to any questions or concerns. Even throughout lockdown the surgery kept in touch and advised me. Had an excellent experience with Simon Cottell and his assistant who fixed up my front two teeth after a nasty accident the weekend previous that left them half missing. I've always struggled/been nervous going to the dentist however in this instance, to make matters worse, I had to face the fact that my birthday is next week, where the potential for birthday photos to be taken of me with chunks out my teeth was very much on the horizon. Simon reassured me beforehand and helped make me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. It was a quick, professional job and my teeth look better than they had originally looked before! After my regular dentist had trouble extracting two of my teeth in preparation for a brace, Phil Chan was highly recommended to me by a friend, as someone who might be able to help. I was able to get an appointment very quickly with Phil and found the reception staff warm and friendly on arrival. Phil Chan is an amazing dentist! He took time to explain everything that had gone wrong & why with the tooth extraction and gave me a number of options to solving the issue. Both Phil & the Dental Nurse, Beth, were extremely kind - I am a very nervous patient and generally terrified of the Dentist - but they put me at ease so I felt comfortable undergoing another procedure to extract the roots. The extraction was a success and I am overwhelmingly grateful that I no longer have to wait 6 weeks for a referral to a specialist, as proposed by my original Dentist. Despite this practice being the opposite end of the City from where I live, there's no way I'd go to another Dentist now. Highly recommended!

I've been finding it incredibly difficult to find the 'right' dentist to get my teeth sorted at the best quality possible. I will be honest and say that i have neglected by oral care over the years and had a fear of the dentist since a child. Now, that I'm much older, I am grateful to have found this dental centre. The receptionist and staff are lovely at the branch, it was quick and efficient to sign up as a private patient and get a booking in place. Especially with the difficulty it is now to sign up as a patient many places. It is very fairly priced as well. Simon Cottell was my chosen dentist at the branch after reading through the our team section. I was highly impressed with the gentleness, professionalism and the clarity he goes through when talking about my dental plan. Very patient and made me feel very at ease when visiting. The knowledge and high quality workmanship is fantastic. As long as he's a dentist, I will forever be his patient! A real credit to the branch! Two smashed wisdom teeth had been living, and getting gross, in my jaw for months. I finally broke and nervously got an appt to have them looked at. I cannot overstate how lovely the experience wound up being. From front desk, to the actual procedure, to aftercare instruction. Everything was so fantastic. I went private as I only had one day off work, even as such they saw me right away, and it was VERY reasonably priced. I was scared as hell, and Dr Philip Chan really set me at ease. The procedure was done quickly, smoothly, and professionally. Thank you Dr, and the whole staff. You have managed to change the opinion of a dentists office for this guy. A superb practice. After a sudden and extremely painful toothache I had no other option but to see a dentist urgently. The Horfield Dental Care was able to secure an emergency appointment for me the next day, and at a time of my convenience. Dr. Curran provided both a fantastic service and an extremely useful follow up treatment. Being so impressed with the ease at which he treated my tooth so efficiently and the advice he provided, I realised I had finally found a dentist I could trust. Since then I've returned for a follow up treatment and have also seen the practice's hygienist. In a similar fashion, Miss Lusby provided both an excellent service and advice regarding my teeth cleaning. In fact, I has been most impressed with the entire staff's friendly attitude and professionalism. I would gladly recommend anybody who is need of a simple check up or more important dental work.

Dr Chan is the best in the business. After many unsuccessful attempts to try and find a new dentist, I came across the reviews of Dr Chan and horfield dental care and took interest. I am absolutely glad I did. He fixed all of my dental issues with minimal to no pain and we even managed to fit in a quick round of Radio 2s "Pop Masters" while we waited for my mouth to numb. He made a dental sceptic like myself, feel completely at ease. So much so that I have now signed my children up to the clinic as I couldn't think of a better place for them to go. First starting suffering toothache early April and was initially prescribed antibiotics After 4 weeks no improvement so had tooth extracted at an emegency dental centre. Unfortunately the dentist could not remove the roots. After five further weeks of pain/antibiotics Simon and Phil arranged an appointment at Bristol Dental Hospital and had roots extracted the same day. Throughout this period I received invaluable telephone advice from Simon and in these difficult times would like to thank Simon and Phil for their support over the past 9 weeks.

I had two appointments, first one with Doctor Simon and second one with a hygienist. First appointment was general examination and I was very pleased with it. Hygiene session I was not pleased at all. At the beginning of teeth cleaning session I was told that in one session they might not clean my whole teeth(I respect). So hygienist hurried up a bit and as she rushed up sometimes, as she sometimes missed some delicate moves around the teeth it hurt while cleaning. Also I felt like I did not have as many resting breaks as I wanted to have and after cleaning finished I had pain around gums.. As a customer I would willingly pay 2 or 3 sessions at once, I don't care about money for a proper cleaning session. I want hygienist to take their time to do their job better without a rush and I want to rest as much as I want. Hygienist was kind and not bad in her job but time pressure did not make things very well. Just inform customers better. It's totally a bad planning issue. As a customer, I clearly stated on phone and also in first examination that I had a very build up dirt and I could not have a chance to visit dentist during the pandemic. I spent time and effort to explain but I did not see the same from them. Is it really so tedious to give customers two sentences of proper information before sessions?

Such a great experience at Horfield Dental Care. My dentist is Andy Curran and he is professional, caring and very thorough. Needed to have an injection and I barely felt it. So happy with the care I receive and would highly recommend this practice. They are amazing!!!!
