Reviews of Claypath Dental Practice
A. L.
I have attended this Dental Practice for many years, as have my family - parents and children. From reception to advice, treatment and aftercare, the practice is outstanding. Reception is welcoming, professional as well as being COVID aware. The dentist is the most professional I have ever met and has a longstanding reputation in the City (and beyond) for her breadth of expert knowledge as a Dental Practitioner. Her staff are excellent, highly qualified and provide an outstanding professional service. Not only do all of the dentists and staff provide the best and most relevant care for their patients but they welcome people with warmth, empathy and kindness.
I would highly recommend this Practice to anyone.

My husband and I have been patients of this practice for many years. We’ve always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and Nina always takes the time to explain any treatment that may be needed and to offer advice on all aspects of dental care. No one enjoys visiting the dentist but it makes it a much more comfortable experience when the practice and the staff are as good as this one.

It is a first-rate Practice. The management, quality of service and dental care provision is all outstanding. I have been a patient for many years and throughout this period, the Claypath Surgery has maintained very high standards.
Thank-you again.

I have been attending this dentist for 36 years. My two children are also registered. Nina is good with children and puts them at ease. She is a very good dentist, and we never feel rushed when having our appointments.
All staff are very friendly. Dental nurses are lovely and nice to chat to, Karen on the desk is fantastic, she's lovely. And Mark on the few occasions we have spoken has always gone out of his way to help. I can highly recommend this dental practice.

Nina will go out of her way to advise when you ask about any problems and the dental nurses are always smiley and caring.
You all do a great job

Had to call for an emergency appointment on the 20/10/21, spoke to Karen on reception who was really helpful and i was lucky enough to get an appointment for that day at 4:45pm. I went in pain, nervous as most are about Dentists. I was seen by Roger Terry and his team and i felt better immediately after speaking with him, he took a look and gave me my options and explained everything, i went for extraction! All i can say is there was no need for nerves, he extracted the tooth quickly and i had zero pain, he gave me advice and a leaflet on aftercare and 2 days later it is healing nicely, i have had no pain since. So a big thank you to everyone invloved in my visit. Jason

Without prejudice. Practice Manager, Mark, extremely rude! Recently had appointment with check (no X-ray) and full clean and one small filling to outside of lower molar. Explained to dentist at that appointment and at the initial post lockdown re-opening appointment that I had acute sensitivity to upper incisor for several months, apparent as extremely painful during the cleaning process and also had concerns about pocketing around lower molar. I have continued to have acute sensitive pain from the incisor and issues with the lower molar which I feel were not fully addressed. I rang the practice today to explain this and spoke to the Practice Manager, Mark. I suggested that if there was any treatment needed to address these issues that I hoped any costs would be covered by the Band 1 and 2 NHS treatment payment already made. He informed me that as he couldn't give me an appointment within the 2 month timeframe then any treatment needed would be chargeable. I explained that I wasn't happy about this as any treatment would have been arranged within the timeframe and I felt it wasn't fully addressed at the previous, appointment. Finally after a lengthy exchange and questioning Mark agreed that it would be up to the dentist to decide if any further charges would be payable should treatment be necessary. However it was his totally rude and disrespectful manner that I found totally unacceptable. Raising his voice, interrupting and speaking over me even when I voiced my dislike of his attitude. I feel he would benefit from further customer service training!
Update 7.6.21. Outrageous false, accusation made by Mark Practice Manager of abusive threatening aggressive behaviour in this recently extensively edited response. Mark had immediately responded to my review stating I quote'... you are shooting the messenger... dont worry we won't hold it against you... We hope to regain your confidence in your Dentist and the Practice... ' Not a response you would expect if I had been abusive, threatening and aggressive as he falsely accuses in this new amended response to my review! I am outraged and shall pursue the Practice for written evidence of these very serious false unwarranted accusations, including copy of the call if recorded. I most certainly stopped Mark mid flow and I informed him that I did not like his tone and manner commencing with 'Excuse me I do not like your manner..'. I believe patients too should be treat with respect by Practice staff and not be shouted over when explaining politely but firmly their concerns (you certainly needed to be firm due to Mark's forceful adamant repeated rhetoric that additional charges would be payable). Nor should patients concerns be belittled by staff. Having self medicated with pain relief and over the counter remedies for over 2 weeks following treatment I felt it reasonable to request a further examination and to ask that any additional treatment costs, if necessary, be covered by the charges already paid. I was not prepared to be shouted over, interrupted and disrespected by the Practice Manager who, despite stating repeatedly that I would be charged, eventually admitted it was not up to him but to the treating Dentist. His serious false accusations in this extensively amended response are outrageous and are I believe his attempt to deflect from his own disrespectful unprofessional rude handling of my (I believe reasonable) request.

I snapped a tooth at the start of lockdown#3 and had a couple of appointments for impressions etc and had appointment yesterday 11/3 to remove the root and fit the new tooth. Despite my fears and reservations, Nina did the job, pain free. The staff are always lovely and really put me at ease and I cannot thank them all enough. Very covid safe from start to finish 👏

I have always dreaded going to the dentists, but since transferring to Claypath a couple years ago I find I don't have to worry.
I can book an appointment at a time that suits me, often with short notice (most recently I rang on a Thursday for a hygienist appointment, and got an appointment for the following Monday despite them being very busy). The receptionist is lovely, my appointments have always been on time (on several occasions when I've turned up early, they've been sooner than scheduled). I told my dentist on the first appointment that I feel anxious and he was very supportive, with a gentle and calming manner, clearly explaining the processes he was going through and giving me clear guidance on what procedures I needed and how to take better care of my teeth.
My partner had been a patient at a different practice ran by Bupa, and they treated him like a second class patient because he was NHS rather than private, advising him that he'd have a wait of three weeks for a root canal and giving frankly dangerous advice about it (not offering antibiotics for an infection and recommending he took codeine for the duration of his long wait). Bupa told him that if he went private he would get in sooner and be treated with 'better equipment' as though being NHS means you deserve a rusty hacksaw! By contrast, Claypath were able to take him on as a patient and resolve the issue within a week. You're never made to feel 'less than' for being an NHS patient at Claypath.
I'm very happy to have found a dentist that I can trust!

I'm petrified of dentists but the whole team are wonderful. Had to have a lot of work done but wasn't made to feel like it was my fault (even though it was). Receptionist was friendly and helpful. Dentist explained everything he was going to do first. Couldn't ask for better
