I just finished a course of treatment in the hands of the talented and wonderful Colin Burns. From the welcome to the aftercare this was a fantastic experience which has left me with some excellent new implants thus improving my quality of life - (and eating) enormously. But the best part was the cost. It was far less expensive than other quotes I’d got from other places for a standard of workmanship which was top class. Highly recommended. KMS Sept2022

Mr Andrew Carton is a fantastic Maxillofacial surgeon. His care is exemplary. He is an approachable, down to earth, caring, very astute, most observant, with good attention to detail, polite and professional surgeon. He is straight talking which I prefer, and explains in detail what you need to know to look after yourself to get out of pain. My career was for the NHS, and can recognise a true professional when I meet one. What Mr Carton does not know in his field, you could write on the back of a postage stamp! I highly recommend this surgeon!

I had lots of dental problems for many years, so much so that about fifteen years ago it was suggested that all my remaining teeth should be removed. In the ten or so years since I have attended SCED I have had very few problems and these have been treated promptly and effectively. My oral health and hygiene has improved and the implants are, and always have been, 'rock' solid. All the staff I have encountered are not only very professional but extremely friendly and helpful. It is not inexpensive, but it is more than worth it. I strongly recommend this excellent practice.

From the moment I contacted them I felt valued and respected and, incredibly important to me, listened to. My consultant, Scot Muir, and his team, headed by Erin, are amazing, personable, happy and relaxed which all lent to an easy journey for me. My dental technician, Cameron, was present throughout and I could not have received better care and attention. Their combined knowledge and experience cannot be overstated and they kept me informed and involved every step of the way. The completed results, after only 9 appointments, are outstanding and better than I ever thought could be achieved. I am able to eat, talk, laugh and smile with absolute confidence. I have no discomfort/pain and, after such a long time enduring both, I cannot express how happy I am. The difference my treatment and their expertise has made to my daily life is immeasurable. I will receive regular dental and hygiene check ups from the Clinic as part of the after care service. Impressive service from Dr Colin Burns and his team who immediately put me at my ease and made the whole experience relaxing as I knew I was in the best of hands. I am delighted with my teeth implants and the 5 to 6 hour round trip I made for each appointment was very well worth it. On my first visit Dr Burns explained the treatment plan in detail and I then received a written plan of the treatment which was fully costed again in detail - perfect. So a big thank you to Colin and his team for being brilliant throughout and for Colin's sense of humour - it isn't often that you get to laugh so much at the dentists!!!!

Had an appointment to have a few implants put in. Dr Muir (Scot) was teaching some students that day so I had a few unfamiliar faces around me. I had no objections to allowing the students to practice their skills. In fact it was a fairly painless . Scot is very attentive to detail and explained to the students at some length about the procedure. It all went smoothly and the ladies did a great job. Very happy with the outcome. Hope to have it all completed in the coming months.Everyone at the Centre is very friendly and it offers a good ambiance. I cannot express enough how good the service was that I got for my appointment. I was getting a tooth out which was quick and painless. I had a cracked tooth which led to a bad infection, every other dentist I went to refused to help or just didn't want to help. Not here, they took their time examined my mouth and knew the tooth had to go. Every member of staff I spoke to were so polite and helpful. They could see how much pain I was in as I hadn't slept for 3 nights and they were so accommodating to help relieve me of this pain. I will defo be back to have a look at an implant after my recovery time. Thank you so much again to Mark who noticed the cracked tooth and Adit who removed it and who was so good during the procedure making sure I was ok and not in pain.

Having been referred by my own dentist to see a specialist, and then further referred on to see yet another specialist, I found myself visiting the Scottish Centre for Excellence in Dentistry. In all pre appointment communication, I was treated with care and consideration and there was plenty pre appointment communication due to my having to rearrange my appointments on several occasions. I live remotely, and travel plans had to be changed many times due to a combination of winter weather, transport technical issues and Covid 19 travel restrictions, all dealt with in a supportive and flexible manner, which was greatly appreciated. On arrival at the centre in the midst of a global pandemic, it was clear that the utmost care was being taken to keep both staff and patients safe, in a calm and considered manner. I was made to feel totally at ease, with every step explained to me in full. At the end of my consultation, there was plenty time for me to ask questions and to feel confident that I understood all the options available to me. It was clear I was in safe hands. At all times I felt like a valued patient and not just a number and most certainly not just a means to make money, in fact at no point did I feel any pressure to proceed, rather I felt in complete control, with the choice to proceed, or not, entirely mine to make. I left feeling more informed and with a clearer understanding of what the issues were with my teeth and felt reassured that in time, with the correct care and treatment, not all of which would necessarily be dental, I would get the best result possible. I cant thank or praise the team at the Scottish Centre for Excellence in Dentistry enough and would highly recommend them to everyone and anyone.

He definitely does not recommend procedures that aren’t necessary — I was ready to just go for the gum graft before he explained my options to me and told me why he wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. He could have just taken my money. But he didn’t. This, ultimately, has proven to me what I already suspected: Mr Ali cares about his patients and won’t go for procedures simply to make money. Meanwhile, my hygienist appointments are always extremely low-stress and pain-free. No matter who is treating me, they always take utmost care to work around any tooth sensitivities I have while also making sure my teeth are cleaned properly. I still don’t trust dentists in general (and possibly never will) but I trust Mr Ali and his team to help me make the right choices and guide me patiently through the processes.

The implant followed an infection, emergency extraction and nearby root canal performed in the USA, so Scott had to evaluate the work done previously and take it from there. The implantation itself was quick and relatively painless, even as it healed. I had a meeting with Dr Scot Muir in February as I knew my bridge was going to fail sometime soon thereafter. Scot put a plan in place which involved removal of the bridge and the remaining supporting teeth and replacing the bridge with implants. I was amazed that the implants could be put in place at the same time as the extractions and I walked out with a better temporary bridge that when I went in. No Dentures - even while the implants merged with the surrounding bone and the gums healed. After a short session to check the bone growth I attended for the final session to put in the new bridge on the implants. Perfect result. Absolutely no drama, very professional and friendly and completely at ease throughout. I have already recommended Scot to a friend who has had the same excellent experience. I recently visited here after being in pain for about 2 weeks and getting a variety of different opinions on the NHS which didn’t alleviate my pain. I saw Dr Abid Faquir who examined me very thoroughly and I was offered a more specialised type of Xray. Following this he then made the correct decision to extract the tooth and my treatment resulted in me being pain free immediately. I couldn't quite believe how easy it was. The process was so simple, painless and professional. I then saw Lorna Cox for further excellent treatment. The past three years for me at SCED and the treatment I have received from Scot and his team has been life changing. Firstly, on initial meeting with Scot he was very warm, attentive, enthusiastic and reassuring. Scot was the first Dentist to welcome the challenge of what lied ahead, given my extensive dental history and severe dental phobia. He reassured me, that regardless of the challenge, I would one day be able to smile and show off my teeth. This is something I never ever thought was possible. Scot’s professionalism and eye for detail is incomparable. His clinical skills and knowledge is unrivalled, and I would never trust any dentist more. Scot’s team of dental nurses throughout my treatment have continued to be a huge support through long difficult procedures, providing me with comfort and reassurance at all times. Scot promised me that at the end of my treatment I would be happy, and he delivered his promise and more. I received bone regeneration, gum grafting, orthodontics, implants and I am finishing my treatment with my own front teeth and a new confidence. It is difficult to put into words the overall impact that my treatment at SCED has had on me. For the first time in my life, at age 26, I can now do things I have never been able to, and I now smile and laugh without the insecurity I lived with for many years. Dr Scott Muir gave me back not only my smile but my self confidence, it may be expensive but worth every penny. It was a long process as I had infection in all 4 of my front top teeth and had to undergo bone grafts and bone regrowth to make it possible for me to have implants, I hated my plate and with Scott's expertise he managed to give me my implants. From my first visit to my last everything was explained to me regarding my treatment and costing, all staff were very friendly to me. I cant thank Scott enough for his work done on my mouth and his personality is second to none from start to finish. I walked into his clinic a stranger and came out a friend.
