I have been having extensive dental treatment for over a year now at the Merivale Dental Practice. The care I have received by Kulvinder and his Assistant Lesley have been outstanding. At the start of each treatment and at every stage as appropriate everything is explained to me properly in terms I can understand in order to make informed decisions about my treatment. I use to be nervous about going to the Dentist. However Kulvinder puts me at ease and as I have said above talks me through the treatment so I feel comfortable and know what to expect. He is undeniable very patient. The receptionists at the practice are all very helpful and friendly.

I have been seeing my Dentist Dr Kulvinder Sokhal since before he joined the practice and actually transferred with him from his previous residency at another practice. I have now been seeing him for around 20 years. Alongside my dentist and all the staff in the practice I can only say that professional is still not a good enough word to describe what is provided from all the staff at the Merivale Practice. It’s always a friendly and respectful welcome with an exceptional level of service. I would recommend this practice with great ease. 5*****

By far the best dental practice I have experienced. The whole team is professional and warm, whilst taking excellent Covid safety measures. Haj was lovely, helped resolve some dental concerns I had pending for a while...she has a unique way to break down the facts, suggest options and also gave me refreshing advice for dental hygiene. For once, I feel I want to return to the dentist for regular check ups rather than wait for a concern to rise first. These appointments used to bring me so much anxiety but Haj, Lesley and the team have really helped turn this around.

I had stayed with my previous dentist for over 40 years, travelling right across London as I considered him a particularly good practitioner. When he retired last year I worried about finding a worthy replacement. I need not have worried. More by chance – it is the closest practice for me here in Greenwich – I came across Merivale and Kulvinder Sokhal. Kulvinder has shown me what it means to be a truly exceptional dentist. Over the past four months I have had a crown replaced, a tooth extracted and an implant fitted. As my teeth have unusually long roots it seemed initially a rather daunting prospect. Kulvinder is a very engaging person who communicates every step of the procedure in the clearest terms. He tells you what is necessary and feasible and never tries to push avoidably expensive solutions. But most of all, he exudes supreme competence during the whole process. As a matter of fact, in my long life - 71 years - I have rarely come across anyone in any profession who was as dedicated, interested and skilled in his work. This applies equally to his assistant Lesley and the team at the front desk. All in all a great experience and 12 points out of 10.

Following the retirement of my dentist in Sevenoaks, I spent a long and miserable time trying to find a good dentist. Fortunately I eventually found Dr Matthew Nolan in Greenwich. He is a dentist of the highest competency, integrity and professionalism. He carried out a root canal treatment for me, a filling and fitted a crown. His work is beyond excellent and it is absolutely brilliant to know that I now have such an excellent dentist to rely upon. Dr Matthew Nolan also has a wonderful, caring attitude. I cannot recommend Dr Nolan highly enough and I am extremely grateful for his excellent work.

I have been going to Merrivales since it first started in the 80's and always had the most professional kind and painless treatment. They were wonderful when my children were growing up and needed to have their teeth checked and they recommended excellent orthodontal treatment for them. Now that I am in my 70's and my teeth are needing implants and crowns the treatments, if it's possible, have improved even more. This dental practice is outstanding and I cannot recommend them too highly.

Every aspect of service is carefully thought through and delivered by the team, using the latest techniques and procedures. Merivale is everything you would want from a dental practice, and so much more. The waiting room is pristine, hygienic, well-decorated; notably inviting and clean but not 'clinical'. The staff are all very friendly, proficient and welcoming. The appointments themselves are (strangely) enjoyable, with the staff showing a genuine interest in their patients as individuals. The appointments drift smoothly from the jokey to the conversational to the productive, while always retaining an atmosphere of unrivalled professionalism. The Merivale Dentist visit 26th January 2021 at 3pm with the hygienist was very good,from reception welcoming,very good on Covid -19 procedures and protection.I did not have to wait long to see the hygienist. Having been with my previous dentist for 20 years I was a little apprehensive about finding a new dentist when I relocated to Greenwich - I needn’t have worried! The Merivale Dental Practice has been a great find. Over the past 2 years the level of care and treatment , ranging from regular check ups to dental implants has been excellent. The opening hours ( early and weekend) are really convenient when it comes to fitting visits in around work/travel commitments. The entire team are friendly and put you at ease for the duration of your visit. Feel very lucky to have found them and would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a practise in the area.

Finding a good dentist is a huge hassle and if you come across this practice you can have a sigh of relief. I waited for a month with a fractured tooth during the peak of the pandemic but i needn't have, had i found them earlier. They are zealots of hygiene and i felt safe and sound. They use special air filters with uv lights to clean the air and wipe every possible surface. Dr Sokhal accommodated my urgent need very promptly and answered all my questions patiently. He has a light hand and is very skilled at his work. He explains every step and makes sure the overall treatment plan is well understood. Everything happens by the book and on time. Although they don't have a 3d or panoramic scanner they can arrange externally. I haven't had to use it but it was comforting to know they have a microscope for root canal treatment (often bad work leads to expensive re-treatments). Also visited Asmeen for dental hygiene and she did an amazing job despite not being able to use the aerosol generating descaler due to time shortage. She will be very scrupulous and thorough with assessing and explaining how to maintain healthy teeth. I can't recommend them enough!

Short story: this is my first ever public review but I thought it was the least I can do since the Merivale is honestly the best dental experience I’ve had in a long time- hands down. They were able to see me extremely quickly and every appointment I’ve had with them were efficient in terms of speed and making progress. All the staff working there are also so friendly! They make you feel so welcome and their procedures for covid are very safe. I cannot recommend this place enough to anybody who is looking for any kind of work done to their teeth. Long story: In April, I had destroyed my two front teeth in an accident and as a result- I had to get new intermediate front teeth from a different practice during an emergency appointment in order to be able to chew or even sleep properly. Since then, these intermediates had eroded over several months and once the news came that dental practices were allowed to reopen during the pandemic- I was extremely relieved because I did not know whether I could keep living with the thought of my dental abscess becoming systemic and leading to worse things down the line. During this period, I had been unable to get any real progress besides being told to look into dental implants by my local public dentists. Now, initially I had found a different private practice in Greenwich, however I had to wait an awful long time in order to see one of their dentists just for an implant consultation. As such, I called the Merivale practice in hopes of receiving an earlier implant consultation. When I had called, the kind receptionist explained they did not have any soon openings for an implant consultation but they would call back as soon as a slot was free. To my surprise, I got a call back from the Merivale from the same super-friendly receptionist: Alicia/Lisa? When she called, she said I could see Dr Kulvinder for an implant consultation in just 2 more days which honestly made my day. Fast forward 2 days and Dr Kulvinder in his professional advice was that I did not need implants as of yet. He eloquently explained that with dentists- their goal is to prolong the life of your teeth as much as possible and that if I had opted for dental implants now- it would be too extreme since there is no guarantee these would last me a lifetime. As such the best route was to get a root canal surgery (which is done by Dr Matthew) to deal with my damaged nerves and get rid of my dental abscess. I didn’t have to wait long for this and Dr Matthew conducted the root canal surgery in only 2 visits. He always made sure I was comfortable during the surgery by telling some jokes and always told me what he planned to do before he started anything. I have the highest praise for Dr Matthew as a result. Afterwards, I went back to Dr Kulvinder who started the process of producing my new permanent crowns. He also explained everything he planned to do before he did it- and always went the extra mile in getting to know me as a patient and feeling at ease. As such, I cannot recommend Dr Kulvinder enough! I also want to thank the staff for asking how I am and getting to know my name since it really helps with the tailored patient experience! As I’ve said, this was the best dental experience I’ve had this year and believe me since this is coming from a guy who has been to 3 other separate dental practices this year who in my opinion- are definitely not as good as the Merivale Dental practice. I personally am looking forward to my next visit whenever that may be. Perhaps a general checkup will be my excuse to visit again!

I am delighted with the orthodontic corrections made by Professor Ama Johal and his team of cheerful nurses. I had turned 60 years and noticed a growing gap between my teeth that was really highlighted on proud grandma photos. With his careful attention over a series of efficient appointments for just over a year I now have a set of teeth I wish I had sorted out when I was younger! I am no longer self conscious of smiling and would urge others that " it is not too late" to seek treatment and the results are impressive.

Matthew has been doing dental work on my teeth for 9 years. When I first met him I had dentures and I couldn’t eat anything hard. He advised me to have implants and new crowns. The work was completed within 1 year. Since then I have been able to bite on anything hard without any problems. He is a brilliant dentist. The best one I have ever had. He has the skill to enable you to relax while the work is being done. I used to visit my previous dentist every 3 months on average to have fillings replaced . I now probably visit about once a year for a check up. Matthew has done work on my teeth to last long term rather than a quick fix for the short term. I would recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone. A really brilliant caring dentist.

Merivale is a very friendly, relaxing place to go for your dental treatment. I have been with the Merivale Practice for over 30 years and during this time I have constantly received excellent dental care from the wonderful dentists, hygenists, dental nurses and receptionists. As an example, I recently called the surgery on a Sunday, with an emergency. I was able to speak to Matthew and, if I had not had a commitment elsewhere, I could have been seen that day. I didn't have to wait until the surgery opened the next day to seek an appointment as, following my call, I received both a text message and an email with an appointment for the following day. I have been visiting Merivale Dental Practice for the last 2 years since moving to the area. I am a very nervous patient and suffer from severe health related anxieties so visiting the dentist has been quite a traumatic experience for me in the past. By 1.00 pm I had a filling which looked exactly like my original tooth, and in fact, better. The dentist was just brilliant. She was very calming, friendly, professional and efficient. This is also a very up to date practice: a patient completes a record on an ipad, not on paper; and the x-ray the dentist took of my cavity was emailed to me while I was still on my way home! Largely due to the expertise of my Dentist Kulvinder, who by the way, is very good with a needle ( I have a phobia of those too ) I never feel a thing. Also a big shout out to his fabulous Dental Nurse Lesley. We alway have a laugh, and I feel rather short changed when I can no longer chat because the dental work has to commence, and in my case that can be on an industrial scale. (Not proud of that bit.) I should also add that In these difficult Covid times the practice feels completely safe. You are met at door and temperature is taken. Doors opened for you. There is a screened off personal waiting area, and you do not touch one surface. I guess if you have got this far in this review it will become clear how highly I am able to recommend the Merivale Dental Practice. As a side note I would also add that I am not related to anybody who works in this practice and no money has changed hands.

I am provided with round the clock reassurance and peace of mind that an Emergency Out of Hours service is available should I ever feel this to be required. Before seeing Matthew at the Merivale Dental Practice, I hadn’t been to the dentist in 10 years due to anxiety and depression. I was absolutely terrified and convinced I had the worst teeth imaginable! And the longer I put it off, the worse this anxiety got. Finally, I convinced myself to go and it was the best decision I could have made. First, the atmosphere in the practice is wonderfully calming, from the receptionist’s welcome to the comfort and aroma of the waiting room. Second, the dentists and hygienists themselves are amazing; they are kind and gentle and put me at ease right away. They explained that they have professionals in their practice that are experienced with anxiety and dental-related phobias, and offered me their services. I was shocked to admit at that point that I felt so calm and safe that I didn’t need to see one! After a quick check, Matthew assured me that my fears were unfounded and that I had been worrying over nothing at all. He did not gasp in horror when I opened my mouth or tell me off for not flossing like I’d imagined! He chatted away cheerfully and made me feel completely normal. Sitting there that first time, I remember thinking I could get used to this! After a few more visits I decided I wanted to close the gaps in my lower front teeth and asked Matthew how I could go about it. I thought it would have to be braces or there wouldn’t be a fix at all. Instead, he suggested a whitening treatment that I could build up over around 3 weeks and after that a filler treatment that would minimise the gaps. Having seen my mum and aunt (who both visit the same practice) use the same whitening treatment I was completely amazed at how quickly it completely transformed the colour of their teeth. I had been sceptical after all the whitening adverts you see on tv and online that never work. Instead, I was shocked at the results after only a few days and, after persisting for the full 3 week duration, literally could not stop staring at - and showing off - my teeth. It felt completely surreal - I had always hidden them away, utterly self conscious of the way they looked, my whole life. Matthew then filled in the gaps around my lower front teeth, completely transforming them. While sitting there, I had worried that they would look false somehow or that the treatment would make very little difference and I would go home disappointed. Or that people would be able to tell that they weren’t my natural teeth. Instead, I remember clearly the moment he held up a mirror for me and I saw them for the first time. I nearly cried in shock! They were unbelievable - Matthew’s ability to mould and shape teeth is absolutely unparalleled. They looked and felt like my teeth, like I had had them all along. The shape was the same, but the gaps were gone. They fit seamlessly with the rest of my teeth - no matter how hard I looked in the mirror, I could not see where my tooth ended and the filling began. I was (and still am) beyond happy with the results of this transformation. I now have no anxiety about going to the dentist - none at all. I know that I am safe and comfortable there and will be looked after. I now see it as a treat (can you believe it) to go and have a check up. And above all, as cliche as it sounds, I smile all the time now and when I talk I’m no longer ashamed of my teeth. I’ve shown all my friends and family and have convinced them to see Matthew at the Merivale Dental Practice. The team there are so wonderful and lovely and I cannot recommend them enough!

I HATE DENTISTS!!!! I've spent 39 years of my life avoiding dentists, I would be dragged in there kicking and screaming as a child and my adult years i didn't get any better. Sitting in the waiting room felt like i was waiting for a 'triple shot espresso machiato with whipped cream hold the froth'. The design and decor instantly puts you at ease.
