A. C.Kerrsland surgery is simply fantastic - well managed and efficient, with great staff who always go out of their way to help. Even in the midst of covid, their service levels have remained superb - you can still get access to a GP through a phone call in the morning - sure, you do get the odd 'busy' tone in the mornings, but there's not much more they can do about that, with the pressure the service is under it's totally expected and acceptable.
Compared to my previous rural GP surgery, the service Kerrsland provide is night and day. I've never before had a GP proactively call me out of the blue to check in on my progress, which to me is just one of many indicators of the high calibre of their team. In 6+ years of being registered at this practice, we've never had a single 'bad' interaction with any member of staff (and with young kids, we've been there more often than we'd like!). Many thanks to everyone on the team!
J. S.Saw Dr Millar and a lovely nurse to have a little cyst removed, needless to say I was quite apprehensive with the procedure but they very much put me at ease. I'm a fan of the new appointment system, I've had three appointments within a week with Dr Lockhart and Nurse Headley and I have been in and out within 30 minutes, that certainly wouldnt have been the case with the old system. Extremely professional and have a lovely bedside manner by all medical professionals.

N. C.It's a general surgery with a travel clinic attached. I've never been to the travel clinic.
The doctors in the general surgery vary from gruff to lovely but generally speaking have always been helpful. The nurses are no nonsense but perfectly pleasant. Some of the reception staff can be a bit short at times, and as other reviews have said, there's often no-one there when you arrive, but it is a very busy practice and with the demands of the public health service today I think they do a great job keeping everything running well.
They have open surgery first thing every morning and also offer phone appointments, which is great if you want to see someone quickly. They also use the Patient Access website so you can sign up and order repeat prescriptions or make/cancel appointments online, which is so convenient.
The only reason they have dropped one star for me is because the last time I was in, the doctor I saw refused to even look into a condition a consultant had diagnosed me with until they had a letter back from the consultant, on the basis that they "hadn't heard of it before". With respect, I don't expect you to be a walking medical encyclopedia but I've seen other doctors Google things they didn't know. "Pass" isn't really the answer you expect from the person in charge of your care.
That said, all things considered, it's a great surgery and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
N. H.Can’t understand the negative reviews. Yes you have to wait for an appointment but that’s the same right across the NHS.
This surgery has been a remarkable support to myself my wife and our family through thick and thin, and would not presume to insult either the staff or the doctors or the nurses in the way some reviewers have.
Yes there are staff here we don’t particularly like, but isn’t that like life? I want decent, professional FREE healthcare, not a dinner date.
Kerrsland is a superb GP surgery.
G. M.The staff here do a great job, considering the amount of patients that arrive for the open practice every morning. I just feel they take on too much resulting in appointment time having a knock on effect. Saying that ive never waited 15mins past a appointment time, which is way better than most places Nurses and receptionists always try their best to accommodate and are friendly.
