Amazing service. I would absolutely highly recommend Don Williams if you have any eye issues. I have suffered 13 years with very sore, itchy and watery eyes. My treatment is still ongoing but within a few weeks my eyes are the best they have felt in 13 years. I can't thank Don Williams enough for helping me. Don't think about making an appointment, just do it. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I visited Don recently with eye problems having only ever visited a local optician in the past. I found him to be friendly, welcoming and very professional. I listened to everything I had to say. The clinic had numerous pieces of equipment and he explained why each piece was used, putting me at ease. He took his time, provided clear explanations about his findings and told me about the short/long term plan and follow up needed. He gave me confidence in the whole process . Having known Don both professionally and as a friend for many years there is no one I would rather go to when it comes to examining my eyes. I had been getting symptoms of floaters for a few weeks. As they had not improved I made the decision to get them examined. One phone call later I was able to see Don next morning. I have suffered with Dry Eye Syndrome for many years, having very unpleasant symptoms including stinging eyes on a daily basis and sometimes blurred vision. Don Williams the consultant is very helpful and understanding with any condition you want to be help with , i went there with dry eyes with ghosting in the vision a form of double vision , he decided a treatment of plugging the bottom tear ducts to retain the tears on my eyes . My overall health on the eyes and cornea as improved significantly and the ghosting as reduced to all but nothing or near nothing and bought a breath of fresh air back to my mental health . After my laser eye clinic went bust a few days after I had my laser eye surgery, I received no follow-up check ups and all the high street laser eye clinics turned me away aswell. But Don kindly took me in and supported me through my laser eye recovery. I also experienced dry eyes up to a year post surgery which made my everyday life uncomfortable but Don recommended tear plugs which has massively reduced my dry eyes and increased my quality of life! I couldn’t recommend Don more, he truly comes across as an expert and gave me great advice (that was more educated than what you’d receive on the high street) and is clearly passionate about his field. Earlier this year my wife visited her optician with a sore eye. Optician diagnosed blepharitis and said it was a long-term condition which many people have and could not be cured just keep it clean and manage it. He then went on to sell her some new lenses for £340. I was not satisfied with this and inform the optician we were going to the Edgbaston eye clinic for further investigation. The optician suggested we were wasting our money as they would be no more qualified than him. Don Williams examine my wife and told us he would like to refer us urgently to one of the top Eye surgeons in the Midlands Mr Murray. His diagnosis was my wife had stage one cancer in her left eyelid.This has now been treated successfully. I’m sure you can understand how grateful we are to Don Williams for his prompt and professional action. Don Williams has practically saved my life! He's helped me get my vision back!! He is incredibly intelligent, he knows every single thing there is to know about eyes. Don is very patient, very professional, very kind and brilliant at what he does! I have had blurred vision for over 2 months and I could hardly see.. I went to the Birmingham Eye Hospital twice and had 3 GP Doctor call backs and all they kept telling me was it was Dry Eye Syndrome?? And just kept advising me to buy different drops and none of them worked?! My husband found Edgbaston Eye Clinic online and we read the reviews.. they were amazing! I then called Edgbaston Eye Clinic and spoke to a lovely gentleman named Simon, he was very helpful. I am so glad I went to see Don as he listened to my eye problem very carefully, looked through my blood test results carefully and then fully examined my eyes. He explained I did not have Dry Eye Syndrome?? What I have is Giant Papillary Conjuactivitis and he explained it to me in detail and prescribed me with some strong eye drops containing steroids for 6 weeks yet already on the 2nd day.. I have noticed the difference and I can start to see clearly..again!! He also kindly gave me some night time drops aswel. He has asked to see me again in 1 weeks time to just make sure everything is ok with my eyes. I am extremely grateful to him! I highly reccommend him!! Thank you so much once again Don!

I am posting on behalf of an elderly friend of mine who wanted to avoid the long NHS waiting list for cataract surgery. He attended Edgbaston Eye Clinic because they provide private cataract surgery in Birmingham. The service was seamless from initial consultation to surgery and after care. He was anxious about having cataract surgery however, after the initial consultation with Mr Williams, he felt very much at ease. The whole process and procedure was throughly explained. Two weeks after seeing Mr Williams, his distance vision is perfect and now able to drive without glasses. I would highly recommend Edgbaston Eye Clinic. Very professional and very knowledgeable. I come from a country where healthcare is not very good. For the past 2 years I have been suffering from a headache mainly in the morning. I came to Birmingham for two weeks and mentioned my headaches to my friend. He advised me to see Mr Williams. Mr Williams saw me, did some tests, including putting a lens on the eye. He then explained to me that the drainage system of both my eyes are a bit narrow. My eye pressure reading at the time was 28. Mr Williams opened his clinic the next morning at 7:30 as he wanted to measure my pressure 6 times during the day. My first pressure reading early morning was 35. At that point he discussed various options and the best option for me was to have a procedure to keep my pressure down as my home country does not have drops available all the time. Mr Williams referred me and the next day I had the procedure done and my eye pressure has been stable at 13 ever since and NO early morning headaches! Brilliant clinician and I would highly recommend Mr Williams. The technology in his clinic is also very advanced.

Our experience of eye treatment with Mr Don Williams has been 'fantastic' - without getting silly about our experience it has really been a sort of 'life saver'. Over a period of several months he has been so caring whilst my wife has benefited from his very considerable skills and experience. Our 'journey' (as it were) with Mr Williams began after two abortive emergency visits to the Birmingham Eye Hospital who did very good diagnoses of her eye problems but could not provide the emergency (on-the-spot) treatment my wife needed - The lower lid eye lashes had turned inwards on both eye and were scratching the eyes very painfully and causing infections. Mr Williams has done a brilliant job in removing offending eye lashes and dealing with the resulting infections, and inserting specialist contact type lenses to protect the eye: he also linked us to an eye surgeon for corrective operations. Mr William's genuine care for my wife over a considerable period of time has been brilliant. In her initial visits he demonstrated what we felt was quite remarkable skill in painlessly 'squeezing' inflammation out of the lower lids . We apologize for this rather 'wordy' review but we cannot give Mr Williams a high enough recommendation for his skills and his lovely patient care approach. Dr David Worth and wife Barbara

I came to Don for a second opinion. Firstly I would like to say the equipment is fantastic, and state of the art, and Don took the time to see whether my dad had glaucoma. Very rarely do I write reviews because very rarely do we encounter companies or individuals who actually go that extra mile and provide exceptional service that deserve a good review . My local optician referred me to the eye hospital having noticed a large dark spot in my eye, the eye hospital did a quick check and said it needs further tests and that an appointment would come through within 8 weeks. I really couldn't wait 8 weeks I was too anxious, so I sent an email to the Edgbaston eye clinic explaining the situation asking if they could look at my eye and at least provide some reassurance. Within half an hour I had a call from one of their consultants who explained on the phone what they could do to help diagnose the condition. Within an hour I was in his consulting room undergoing numerous tests with some of the most modern state of the art diagnostic equipment. The consultant reviewed the results and explained clearly his provisional diagnosis and what he considered my next steps should be. I went home and within two hours he had emailed me all the tests results. He also, with my consent, consulted other experts in this field and they all concurred with his proviaional diagnosis and what I should do next. The whole service from start to finish was incredible, the thorough way in which he explained everything gave me the reassurance that I needed and relieved me of having to wait 8 weeks. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Edgbaston eye clinic to anyone suffering from an eye condition Or anyone who just wants reassurance whilst waiting anxiously for an NHS appointment. Going privately is always a cost benefit consideration, the benefit in my situation significantly outweighed the cost and I was pleasantly surprised how affordable it was. As an Engineer I spend a lot of my working hours infront of a screen. For the past 6 months I have been suffering from soreness and gritty sensation. After visiting various high street opticians all I was told to buy was lubricating eye drops which I did, however nothing helped. I came to the midlands for work and by the end of the day, I almost couldn't open my eyes because they were that sore. A colleague of mine advised me to see this Consultant Optometrist in Edgbaston. I saw Don at around 8:00pm (after hours) and he picked up corneal erosion. Don gave me some Vitamin A cream and some preservative free eye drops with careful instruction and also advised me to 'tape' my lids together at night which I have been doing for 3 weeks now and for the past 2.5 weeks I have had no soreness and no grittiness! I am due to see him again over the next few weeks and I would have no problems driving down from Newcastle to see him. His explanation, advise and knowledge is second to none. Highly recommended.

Called 9.00am in the Morning and was seen the same day, as I had a problem with my left eye. On arrival was greeted by a lovely lady who showed me to waiting room. I was called through into an very nice large, state of the art consulting room. Mr Williams made me feel at ease, completed a very detailed examination, explaining everything as he went along. My eyes were so dry they were sticking at night and it felt like I was taking a layer off my cornea when I opened them, it was really painful. I had been to three opticians and the walk in at the eye hospital who just sent me away telling me to use drops that I knew didn’t work. I went to see Don and he showed me that I have corneal abrasions and an incomplete blink. He suggested taping my eyes at night and using vitamin A cream. I am so much better, 3 months on, almost back to normal. It worries me to think how bad this would have become had I just given up and accepted what the eye hospital told me.

I have worn spetacles virtually all my life (approximately for 62 years) and discovered in December that I have Keratoconus. I was recommended to Don Williams to have contact lenses fitted and can't thank him enough for making me see properly. Although I could pass my driving sight test my vision was really bad for long distance now I can see things over a mile away clearly. I am still wearing the lenses in but I can already see the benefit as now I can look at things at the side without having to turn my head which makes driving so much easier.

My optician picked up high pressure in both eyes, concerned I was then referred to the QE as an "immediate referral". 2 weeks went by , heard nothing then called by the QE mentioning between a 45 -55 NHS week waiting list !!! This timescale could/would have been catastrophic with pressure on my optic nerve. As fate would have it, I picked up on a leaflet mentioning Don and his new practice near my office in Edgbaston. Don was able to see me immediately and went to work. After thorough detailed exams inc Visual field,corneal thickness and OCT of the optic nerve a referral was made to Mr. Sharma ( a regional specialist in Glaucoma) who managed to see me 2 days after. To cut a long story short, (having had no pain or headaches) I am incredibly grateful for taking the "bull by the horns" and seeing Don when I did . This could have effectively have saved my sight. I am now under consultation using drops with the pressure under control. Thank goodness I took this step before damage to my optic nerve was irreparable. Thank you Don for all your professional help and ongoing assistance. Can't recommend enough.
