Reviews of St. Alban's Medical Centre

I have been in the area for nearly 22 years and the Surgery has provided medical care and access at all times especially to my wife and my 3 girls, either by phone or face to face consultations, all staff are working very hard, worked during the pandemic and its a very well led GP Surgery and they are the Top 4 GP surgery on the recent Dorset 2022 survey , that shows their achievement. To the team and all staff, you have done very well and a massive congratulations. Keep up the good work.

They are amazing I've been here for 30 years now and they helped me and saved my life.
I am getting my wife to move here as they are so much better than her practice.
Unfortunately due to my circumstances I have spent more time than I would have liked here.
There have been and are still amazing doctors and nurses here and the receptionists and back room staff are top notch.
Some advice, if you want to phone about anything other than an on the day appointment then phone after 9.30ish as you will be waiting as its always a mad panic before then.
Finally I have never had anyone be rude to me here but if it has happened to you, just remember we can all have a bad day and you don't know what they have had to deal with before speaking to you.

I had accidently left ordering a new prescription too late. I contacted the prescription team at St Albans. I have to say that they were brilliant. They made sure I got my prescription and even changed the pharmacy for me when Boots system was down. I had to ring them 3 times regarding this and each time the team were lovely, kind and helpful. Especially when they would have been within thier right to tell me I needed to make an appointment.

Called at 8am for my daughter who had a rash, had been contacted by the doctor and had a prescription sent to the chemist by 8:33. Absolutely fantastic service, thank you team to the whole team at St Albans Medical Centre.

It is incredibly frustrating to get an appointment there. When you are worried about something, this does not help. You can't book an appointment apart from on the day and you have to call at 8am for it, like everybody else. Results, I had to call 57 times with 40 minutes of "line busy" in the hope to get an appointment!
I did eventually and the GP I saw was very nice and able. But you need to be ridiculously patient. I do not know how an older or less able person manages to see a doctor there.

Absolutely I can not fault this surgery. In my experience they have had No shortage of appointments. Thank you to all the staff at the practice for keeping us all safe.

The staff at this surgery are brilliant! I don't usually do reviews but they have really helped me through the last few months. Referrals were very quick as were the telephone appointments . I can't fault them, even during this challenging period they were so supportive and really helped me, especially during shielding. Thank s for all your help!

I recently visited my optician who referred me to the doctor. Within a few days I had had several letters from the doctor at the surgery informing me of my referral to the hospital and chasing up different departments and getting more information. I have been kept informed at each stage and want to thank the surgery for the care they are giving me. I have always been impressed with the service they give but never more so than now.

The women on the phones are unbelievably rude, difficult to get an appointment even ringing at 8am. There's only a select few doctors I would go to in the surgery.
