Myself and my husband have been registered at this surgery for over 5 years and have never had a complaint. We have always been able to make appointments with the doctors whenever needed. There are many doctors and nurses working in this surgery so we have never had a problem with making urgent appointments. My regular GP (Dr Myles) is really friendly and professional. He always listens to his patients without rushing them. All Dr surgeries need a Dr Myles! The admin and reception staff are really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this surgery to anyone.

i have just seen Ian Kennedy for a steroid injection.
He was polite, helpful, interested and very reassuring. He was able to show me an informative video which explained my condition and recommend continuing behaviors to support my treatment. A big thank you to him for his patience and the courteous way he dealt with my needs.
I have to say with regard to my treatment and the way my wife is dealt with the admin is good and the doctors unfailingly concerned and accepting. If i have any criticism it is the attitude from reception in protecting Doctors from patients with the telephone system; a delay in seeking treatment. I understand the thinking but the change since Covid is marked and for the most part unwelcome. i much prefer to see a doctor than do something intensely personal over the phone . So much can be missed.. I am a relatively new patient and i am very happy with the service i have received since my arrival on the South Coast. Please continue to listen to patient concerns.

Ian Kennedy is an amazing physio at the Westbourne Practice. He was extremely conscientious in his examination and quickly diagnosed the problem and was able to treat it at my first session. He demonstrated exercises to help and provided a link on line to carry on the treatment at home. He expertly administered injections which relieved my pain and lasted about 2 months. He also gave an assurance that this could be the first of 3 treatments.
Thank you very much Ian. I felt very confident in your care.

Saw Ian Kennedy today for a shoulder issue and I was blown away by the service given to me and action taken. I wrongly assumed I’d be given Exercise and told to take painkillers and it will get better bit 2 injections later there and then and a lot of advise, I’m
Hopefully on the way to a fully functioning shoulder again .
He was very informative, showed me in detail what the issue was etc etc. can’t recommend him enough . Anything musculoskeletal, he’s the one you want to see.

I don't understand why this practice scores 3.4. I left Broadstone practice, who were amazing, and wasn't expecting much. 3 years later I have found them delightful. Reception staff are cheerful and helpful (let's face it, listening to ill people every day can't be fun). People these days expect too much and therefore probably give the practice poor reviews. I'm 62, so don't expect royal treatment, just good manners and an attitude to do their best. That's what you get here. Fabulous!

I visited Westbourne Medical Centre today for an appointment with Ian Kennedy as I have a problem with my shoulder. After discussing the problems I have been experiencing Ian explained he would give me two injections and hopefully that would help with the pain. I found Ian to be very helpful as usual. I was offered an appointment with Ian Kennedy the MSK Practitioner at WMC after I rang for a repeat prescription of pain killers for my painful hip and lower back. After suffering for a year and seeing a Consultant and Physio with no improvement I wasn't sure which way to turn. Ian was confident and precise with his diagnosis and prescribed some injections into my hip bursae which I had three weeks later. I couldn't believe that after so many months the pain disappeared! An amazing service and I am truly thankful.
P. S.
Having moved to the area in July we had been recommeded to WMC.
my wife and I have been delighted with all aspects of the surgery and administrative experiences and most recently with the care, attention and treatment received from Ian Kennedy MSK practitioner. 1st class
Thank you Paul A Sarahs

GPs are very good but call times with reception (particularly on a Monday) are really poor and when you get through they are understandably tired and jobsworthy. It would not be hard to double up the receptionists at peak times...

After having joined a free prescription delivery service that went disasterously wrong I found myself without medication & so needed help to rectify the situation.
I spoke to one of the customer coordinator's at WMC who passed me through to Carol, who is the supervisor at reception.
I fully explained the problem & without any fuss Carol had arranged for a new prescription to be filled with Poole Bay Pharmacy that I could collect later in the day. She also gave me details of home delivery for future use.
I would like to thank Carol & all the customer coordinator's at WMC, for their kindness, understanding & help especially during these difficult times.

Give 5plus stars if I could! How is it possible for one surgery to have so many nice doctors that actually listen and care when my old surgery literally only had one who that then left. . Well done Westbourne surgery & Thank you. 😊😊
Receptionists superb too and very helpful.
So far very impressed.
Nearly ran out of my painkillers right before bank holiday weekend and the receptionist swiftly sorted out with my pharmacy and I also had a call twice from the pharmacist and the tablets were ready for me the Saturday.
First chat with Dr Edwards who was lovely and patiently listened and was in no rush to get off the call as I was a new patient and had a few things I wanted to discuss.
Very happy and reassured after bad experience with my last doctor's surgery. Since I've now chatted to 3 or more doctors here and all are human and caring.
Also great to have Ian in the muscleskeletal dept on site.
Super guy who was very thorough and explained everything and sent me literature immediately after the appointment. Thank you you so much

Thank you Dr Kennedy your care and support has been second to none. I’ve appreciated and benefitted so much from your professional knowledge and superb care and kindness.
Thank you so much

I have been with Westbourne Medical Centre for over 25 years now and have always found the doctors, Nurses and Reception very helpful. Thank you for your care.

The quality of care provided to me has been outstanding. The teamwork between the different professionals enables an excellent service to be provided. I’ve been a patient at the practice for over 20 years and have been treated to a very high standard throughout that time and especially during the difficult past two years.

My wife and I have used Westbourne Medical Centre for over eight years and have never had any complaints. Indeed, two days ago I had a face to face consultation with Dr Ian Kennedy and was seen on time and given the most professional and detailed consultation, with a very satisfactory outcome.
During 2020 we had an urgent need to see a doctor, which we did, resulting in a visit to Poole Hospital and a further face to face consultation.
We cannot understand the negative reviews but would recommend the Centre to anyone.

Had my first appointment today with Ian Kennedy, and I could not be more pleased with my overall experience. He made me feel SO at ease and when I advised him of my fear of needles (I had to have a steroid injection), he was so gentle and I did not feel the needle at all!! Overall he was very friendly and informative and I would highly recommend him to anyone :)

Have been with the surgery for years. Ran out of medication ( my own fault) and sent a request on line last night. Phoned this morning asking if it could be signed off urgently. Was told that this could not be done. Would have to wait. The fact that I need this 2 a day means nothing. What has happened to helpful service. To get an appointment is a nightmare.

A very busy, large surgery with a large number of staff, medical and support. I have been registered at Westbourne Medical Centre for over ten years, since I moved to the area and although my initial experiences were negative (due to very senior member of staff) and I felt I was not supported appropriately, my subsequent dealings have been above par (hence the four stars, not five).
I complained about my treatment and I was immediately offered a different doctor who is extremely supportive and has been very helpful (Dr Gareth Edwards), who always listens to everything you say carefully. Unfortunately this means he can run very late (has been 50min waiting once or twice) but in comparison to how I was treated in the first place, it wasn't too much a problem and most of the time he is more or less on time.
The most amazing thing about this surgery is that it is possible to get various appointments for different needs, even on the day. With more urgent problems, one can get an appointment on the day (I have had an appointment within 20min of calling), other alternatives are e-consult (reply within 24hrs, often quicker), phone appointments or regular doctor's appointments which can take a bit longer to get.
I have also had on-site blood tests, I have spoken to the clinical pharmacist many times who has been very helpful with my medications, I have seen a joint specialist (I think he visits from Poole Hospital) and of course they also have the usual things that nurses take care of like vaccinations, smear tests etc and of course there is a health visitor.
So a lot of things on offer and I am sure there are other things I don't even know about. The reception staff (the regular ones especially) are extremely efficient, particularly on the phone, and helpful.
I am really happy with my surgery and I would definitely recommend them.

I have been going to this practice for many years since relocating to dorset from Surrey. I have stayed with them when moving out of catchment so to speak and have always found the surgery, plus both the office and medical staff good.
GP practices deal with a huge volume and range of problems and will always have some limits of resources, our health service is free/ low cost compared to some other countries and I am very grateful for what is provided
The surgery itself I have always actually found fairly efficient, I’ve never not been seen at all when needed, I’ve found the telephone consultation worked fine, travel vaccinations good (when we could travel!) … I imagine the general public put quite high demands on the services and the team here deal well with that.
Not all NHS services are the easiest to deal with in terms of if referrals are made from the practice and then hospitals / other departments get involved there can be some miscommunication (and I’ve had some difficulty here)….but that is not the fault of the surgery. I am happy being at the practice and do not feel the need to change going there so overall good service

The staff at Westbourne Medical Centre have consistently provided me with excellent care both before and during the pandemic. In recent months I have had one face face consultation and several phone consultations with my GP. I have had two face to face consultations with the excellent musculoskeletal practitioner Ian Kennedy. My advice is to use the online form on the home page of the WMC website. It is a bit tedious to complete but in my experience you will get a reply very quickly. Thank you WMC!

I've been with this medical centre for over 7 years now, since moving to Westbourne. Initially I found it a bit difficult as I had previously had the same doctor in Southbourne for about 30 years, so it was hard adjusting to someone and somewhere new. I appreciate very much having Dr. Myles as my regular doctor, but have been very grateful for the help provided by a number of other doctors at the surgery recently, who have assisted hugely with a number of problems. I am particularly grateful to Dr. Gavin Smith. I also have great admiration for the reception team, who are always helpful and friendly.
D. L.
Anyone know why at 10 past 8 the phone call keeps saying line busy? Trying book doctors appointments and can’t even go into a que?
B. H.
This medical centre is outstanding. We first registered 12 years ago having moved from the Basingstoke area, and the difference in care and efficiency was just amazing. Dr Gallimore looked after us until last year, we just couldn't believe the level of service that he provided. Now we are with Dr Edwards who again is outstanding, and it is when we see the appalling service offered by surgery's elsewhere, that we realise how lucky we are! A big thank you to the staff and doctors!

Ian Kennedy’s phyiotherapy skills, knowledge, diagnostic ability and administration of steroid injections is nothing short of magical and I don’t say this lightly. I have required medical help for multiple undiagnosed conditions for 8+ years and seen countless doctors, surgeons, 3 osteopaths and other physiotherapists over that time with nothing resolving my symptoms. Within 10 minutes of first meeting me, Ian diagnosed things everyone else has missed. I wish that I had found him sooner and I’m so grateful to have his help now. He explains things clearly, has a really great approach with kindness and professionalism, and he listens throughly. I never feel rushed in appointments and he’s instigated life-changing action that will benefit my future. I can’t recommend Ian enough. Thank you Ian for giving me newfound hope for a much brighter future.

Called on behalf of my mother who struggled with the SMS request to provide updated details, receptionist was so helpful and friendly. thank you

I have been a patient at the practice for many years and for the past three with Dr Myles who I have total confidence in. I have found all the staff at the surgery always helpful, be they nurses or receptionists and I appreciate having the opportunity to check my blood pressure in the waiting area. The link with Poole Bay Pharmacy is great. I've used the e- consult service - easy but a bit lengthy. A very happy user of WMC.

I have been with Westbourne Medical Centre for 27 years. I think this surgery is very good. My first doctor is Dr Alan Fisher who is now retired.
My present GP is Dr Guillimore, who is always busy and helpful, but when he wasn't able to see me, he would give me a call. That I understand, because every GP has many patients on their list. Yes, I have noticed that it is getting more difficult to see a GP on the same day, but it is NHS. I am a teacher, so when you have many customers, it is not easy to accommodate everyone. But all in all, I think this surgery is good. Compared to the other surgery that I have been in other part of the country, this surgery is clean and looks welcoming.

I have been a patient at this surgery for 6 years now and have seen positive changes over the years, although I am relatively healthy so I don't have to visit my doctors very often!
When entering the surgery you can check yourself in, the spacious waiting zones are bright and nice place to wait as I don't feel like I might catch germs!
When I call for an appointment the staff are always pleasant and if I can't see Dr Bevan Jones, then they have always offered an alternative doctor.
Dr Bevan Jones is the best Dr I have ever come across and she always keen to follow up on my wellbeing.
Having the chemist on site is a massive benefit too and the staff there are also very helpful and lovely people.
The atmosphere in the surgery is always pleasant and friendly and even when it's flu injection month, they are so efficient and encourage you to stay for tea too!
Keep up good work team, most efficient surgery I have ever come across! 👏👏👏

Had my appointment with Ian Kennedy today , had to have a couple of steroid injections in my hip ,I was a bit apprehensive about the procedure, but needn't have worried as he freeze sprayed the area and I didnt feel anything ,he was very informative and friendly and put me at ease straight away.

Huge thank you to all staff at Westbourne Medical Centre for their incredible efforts in getting the Covid vaccination programme up and running so quickly and efficiently. They are extremely professional and friendly and as a healthcare worker myself I can appreciate this great effort alongside maintaining other clinics and triaging. 5 star service!
O. K.
Just to say how professional Nurse Florence Jacobs is.
Thank You

I've visited a few times over the last couple of years and this is a good surgery. Occasionally appointments are late, but this is to be expected, if there is an emergency or one patient needs more attention then that is fine. In my experience the reception staff are helpful and the doctors knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend as an NHS doctors.
r. 2.
I've just been to see my GP, who is excellent. I had to wait 2 weeks for my appointment but this is the NHS. I am registered for their online services which is so much easier than trying to get through on the phones. Previously when I have needed an emergency appointment I was seen by a duty doctor on the same day. I usually order my medication online and get it sent straight to Poole Bay Pharmacy which is excellent as they are open late evenings and weekends.
P. M.
I have always found this surgery to be helpful and all facilities in good, clean condition throughout. It's a competently run practice. The wait times are sometimes a nuisance, but I think more often than not it's on time. I think it's reasonable to expect some delays, given the short time allocation for each appointment, and some people may have genuinely complex problems or have trouble articulating them - I would hesitate to critisise anyone for that.
G.
Fortunately I do not have reason to visit the medical centre as frequently as some of the sickly patients who would appear to spend much of their time draining the NHS. The times that I have visited the centre, all staff, Reception, Nurses and Doctors have been very professional. I have never had to wait more than a week for an appointment. A note for those complaining that they are not seen on time; that's because other sickly patients are consuming the Doctors time. I am sure you will be 'itching' to reply BUT I have said my bit and will not review this forum again, I am simply too busy working to pay my National Insurance - hope you all get well soon.

We are relatively new patients and have been impressed by the service here. The doctor is very professional and the surgery well invested and modern. The reception staff have been very helpful and efficient. I am impressed by how much technology they use. I know how much pressure the nhs is under and value this gp service. I think we all should.
H. W.
Never had any problems. I like the use of technology which allows me to book appointments, order prescriptions all online without having to call or make appointments. Having a pharmacy is also a bonus as they collect and prepare my prescription automatically.
T. P.
Our family have been provided with an outstanding service, over many years, particularly by Dr. L. Brad. Whilst the expansion of the surgery has seen it become less personal, this is perhaps symptomatic of the demands of the NHS rather than the establishment. The online booking service is convenient, although the appointments on offer are often some time away. Therefore, the surgery make efforts to see urgent requests on an ad-hoc/phone in basis, which enables patients to be seen sooner.
C. G.
An appointment with Ian Kennedy has been most helpful. As a newcomer to the Practice I would also like to thank Dr. Edwards for the care I have received, despite Covid!
H. m.
As a carer to a patient at this Practice, I have received the most efficient and kind service for my patient . From Dr Linton, receptionist , Dave ( paramedic ) and all the nurses that have been involved in his care.
Thanks to you all, what a amazing team.

I have been with my Dr (Dr Schuster-Bruce) for over 20 years and he is the best. Helped me in every way he could when I went through a major trauma. My daughter (now 20) is also with him and we both think he's fantastic.
