Reviews of Derby Urgent Treatment Centre
A. S.
I was at the urgent treatment centre today for a chesty and was seen within 10 minutes of arriving there. The doctor, and the rest of the staff, was really courteous and made me feel at ease. Overall, an enjoyable experience considering I was in a medical setting. I fully recommend the urgent treatment centre for anybody with immediate medical needs. Thanks much!

The staff were so helpful, I was able to be seen prettt quickly and i was given the right course of antibiotics immediately. They made me feel comfortable as this was the first time going to the doctors alone but also in a new place as i moved to Derby in September at the age of 18.

I attended the Walk in Centre last Thursday. After a brief wait I saw a very kind nurse who examined me. Unfortunately, she had to refer me to ENT at the Royal. I was a little concerned as I thought I may have to wait a few days for an appointment but she made it for the following day. Everyone I met there were professional, helpful and efficient. Thank you.

Attended last night with a burn, Margaret on reception was lovely. Think his name was Rob who was triaging patients was also really nice and efficient. The dr was then also really friendly. Was seen and back home within an hour. Went again this morning to have it checked over as advised by the dr. Margaret and Rob were both back on shift and still as lovely and polite. Was seen by Yvonne the nurse who was really good and sent us away with plenty of dressings and let us know she was on shift tomorrow if we needed anything. Was in and out within an hour again and they were much more helpful than my actual drs! Thank you!

I had to attend walk in today. From the receptionist to the Dr everyone was so polite and welcoming. Very efficient service.
Wish GP surgeries were the same.

Recommended and booked in by 111.
Excellent waiting area. Friendly staff on reception and nurses. Doctor seen on time. Very smart new facility.

After struggling to breathe and continually coughing for a month I rang 111 and managed to get an appointment at the Walk in Centre and the treatment I received was absolutely brilliant. The nurses and the 2 doctors I seen were very kind, patient and very professional. Thank you. I am very, very appreciative of the treatment I received.

Posting on behalf of my mother who would just like to let the new girl taking bloods at the urgent treatment centre know that she did an absolutely fantastic job! She was definitely nervous but lovely and polite- got it second try with no bruises after, thank you very much!

I received a very fast and professional service today, after not being able to contact my GP at all after few hours of constant attempts.. I was seen quickly by super nice and gentle nurse and I would also like to thank Margaret for her very kind service at reception. ☺️ Thank you ladies, I hope you are being recognized for your amazing work.

Small care centre for diagnosis of medical problems. Long waiting time however. You are seen in Priority Order but the waiting time is still about two hours. Today it is full of ill children running about. Question is are they really ill, looking at these kids they are not. Waiting room is large but very stuffy with no windows open. Carpark is small and tight, but free

The nurse doing the blood test did a wonderful job. Did not even feel the niddle. Thanks!

I attended the phlebotomy clinic yesterday with my secretly anxious 13 year old son. We were greeted on time by a lovely lady from Portsmouth who instantly put my son at ease, saying her son was called Billy and telling us funny stories. I can't tell you how this kind lady made what could have been a scary, daunting experience into a truly delightful one. We walked away happy, my son exclaimed how lovely she was and talked of giving blood when he's older. And to top it off, she was so quick we didn't have to pay a car park fee!! Well done Derby Urgent Treatment Team, you are angels in disguise!💕😇

What a fantastic team and service. My daughter had a cut her hand, we turned up at Derby Urgent Care centre and she was seen and patched up within half an hour. Staff were excellent.

Amazing service. No-one will ever criticise this service to me, I visited today, was seen quickly & by the kindest most professional staff ever, I suffer badly from anxiety & the doctor that I saw took lots of time examining me & provided the reassurance & treatment that I needed, I am so very grateful for their help.

Had to go and visit this place to have treatment on my back a few weeks ago and got lucky with the parking space as the car park their is not very big. I wast met by a pleasant lady outside because of Covid 19 restrictions who guided me to reception to sign in and then to the waiting area where I patently waited for my turn to be seen too (TO THE HATERS, PLEASE EVERY ONE ITS NOT FIRST COME FIRST SERVE) their might be people who come in later than you but will get seen before you because their medical condition may be far more worse than yours so try to be understanding although frustrating. Nurse Denise treated my back and applied a bandage on it and made me feel reassured through out my treatment at short notice, thank you Denise and all your colleges..

Went to Derby Walking Centre on Osmaston Rd on Saturday 3rd April late pm.
Was seen well within the predicted time.
The Lady doctor explained the problem in great details..
Cannot fault anything or anybody.
everybody was courteous.
Thank you

Long q's but thankfully had an appointment, efficient, friendly nurse
A. S.
Absolutely fabulous had 2 visit's this week, because GP's not available and the walk-in centre are just, fabulous, polite, professional, and considering the pandemic very quick I wouldn't have known what to do without them
L.
Great service if you can't wait for your normal GP and don't need A&E. I went and was seen within 2 hours. They see people in order of importance, like any urgent service does. Great resource in the city centre. Parking can be tricky but relatively easy to find in the surrounding streets.
Everyone complaining in their own reviews that they had to wait need to manage their expectations. And people complaining that the receptionists chat and drink tea need to chill - just because you're I'll doesn't mean everyone has to sit around and be completely miserable and silent for you.

Big thanks to the reception staff and the doctor who seen me today. Able to walk straight in and get looked at rather than waiting weeks for my doctors so well worth the hour drive. However the female doctor that seen my girlfriend was appaling. Didnt seem to bothered and barely gave a diagnoses, just didnt seem like she wanted to be there at all.
M. H.
Whenever I have needed to use this service the staff have always been friendly and helpful. The nurses always interested and keen to help solve the medical problem and ease the situation. The reception team always open, helpful and warm. Highly recommend using this centre if your unable to see your GP
K. S.
Saw Karen today she was absolutely superb. Very kind, re-assuring, friendly and knowledgeable nothing too much trouble completely understanding and relatable on a number of issues she's a huge asset to your surgery! Thanks again - Kev

Got seen relatively quickly for my own blood test.

My son seems to end up here a couple of times a year and I am so pleased we have a service like this. The recieption staff are nice, the ANPs are very nice and they do a really good job of dealing with the mass of patients they have.
I only have one gripe, which is why I am scoring so low, which is that my son has been in 3 times with Tonsillitis over the past 2 years and each time he has been prescribed anti-biotics. This is fine in itself as I am not so bothered about a 3/4 year old having antibiotics when they may not be needed, but all 3 times he has been prescribed a 5 day course of Pen V when the correct prescription is 10 days. On the first two occasions this did not seem to affect his recovery, probably because it was viral Tonsillitis or not very severe. However, this last time it was much worse and it came back 36 hours after the antibiotics course finished. I then took him to Nottingham Urgent Care Centre who confirmed that he should have had a 10 day course. Why are Derby not prescribing correctly. I am aware that studies show antibiotics do not significantly reduce recovery times of patients with Tonsillitis with pain scores below 4, but if they are going to give antibiotics then give the correct duration. My son felt a lot better after a few days of antibiotics and is now feeling awfull again. This is a great way to breed penicillin resistant bacteria, let's hope another course of antibiotics can clear it. Think I will be going to Nottingham in the future, although waiting times are generally longer.

staff are nice, drs and nurses have always been great. Good helpful service. The only downside is the parking it is truly awful I had a midwife appointment and had to drive off and re arrange as the parking is so bad. there is parking over the road but it's a change only ticket machine so that's pointless in this day and age. But that's the only downside
S. S.
Saw a lovely nurse called Yvonne Rodney who was very friendly and knowledgeable. What a great service. Was a busy service and Yvonne apologised for my wait which was through no fault of hers as she was working extremely hard providing a first class, caring service. What a credit to the NHS.
D. T.
Good experience. Dr Shetty was lovely and so were the receptionists. Appointment was pretty much on time.
Only downside were the type of other people using the service, I mean ew, have these people no shame? But hey, not the practices fault!
s. c.
Staff pig ignorant, don't explain ticket system (that wasn't working anyway) nurses couldn't care less, had to go somewhere though. -that was the last time I went with dog bites, this time took my son,-totally different experience, reception staff(different) polite & the nurse we saw was great

Went on a saturday at lunch time and yes there is a long wait but I preferred that than waiting to find out if I could possibly book in with my GP on Monday then waiting til possibly the end of the week to them. I did try and book an appointment but was told theg were full for the day and turn up. I found the reception to be very nice and understanding, patient with all the people complaining about the wait, when you arrive you are warned about the wait and there were people moaning that they'd been there over an hour. To the people that moan others get seen before them, that is because they've booked an appointment and also I see an awful lot of people complaining about the wait for an illness that certaintly does not warrant 'urgent' care. I saw a lot of people who seemed to just have colds, you should stay at home and rest, basically the only thing to be done, and itd be nice if you weren't spreading the germs round. I do think it would be much better that when entering you are seen to or told to ring the 111 number, I have always found it to be extremely useful, some people turn up to urgent care when all the needed was a pharmacist. This would greatly reduce numbers and mean the lady that was groaning in pain and unable to sit down for hrs today woulf have been seen to much quicker. I found my appointment very straight forward and quick, handed a prescription for antibiotics and an apology that I had to wait so long its coming up to that time of year again. I strongly urge people to please ring 111 before coming to the walk in centre and also recognise that a cold is just a cold. My problem here was with the hygiene, the toilets were cleab but everything involved touching with hands, been in other doctors/hospitals where its automatic or can use feet and upon exiting no hand sanitiser to be found. People are coughing in their hands, shakily taking urine samples etc. Also the water situation, why would I want to use a cup thats be rolling around in split water with everyones germs they got all over where I am going to put my mouth, maybe hand them out bottom first per person? Also its soooo stuffy in there, open a window please or something get that ill, yucky stale air out of there.
I have used this service a few times, and had family members also use it and have found it to be incredibly useful when we can't get in at the doctors for something minorly serious but not worth A&E, we know theres always going to be a wait and if it was so bad we couldn't wait we'd go maybe go A&E or call 111 to check and if it was minor enough to wait til the next day or as long as we know we have an appointment at the doctors we'd go there. It really could be more hygienic though. Hand sanitiser please!

Was feeling extremely anxious about having tonsillitis for the first time. Had a long, 3 hr wait, but it was so worth it as the nurse/doctor (didn't get her name) I had completely calmed me down and spoke to me for a good 15 minutes about what was normal and what I should look out for that isn't. She was fantastic.
L. G.
I visited this morning with my baby boy who turned out to have a chest infection. From the minute we stepped in the door until we left with a prescription all the staff were lovely, especially the prescribed who was amazing with him
R. F.
Dropped in at 8am, seen by Yvonne who listened carefully to the issue presented prescribed penicillin accordingly. Yvonne was kind, caring and attentive - thank you!

Everyone I spoke to was very polite and helpfull.

I have been quite a few times with my special need child. The staff are very patience and understanding. I would rather visit here with my child than our own doctors. It can be very stressful with taking my daughter out and about but you made it stress free for both of us. Thank you
M. B.
Staff are polite and they attended us pretty fast taking into consideration we are going through a pandemic, well done Derby Urgent Care Centre
B. M.
I was seen by a lovely nurse named Yvonne, who was pleasant, friendly and very knowledgable. She really did make the process of being at urgent care much better.

I saw Dr Khan and he was the best doctor I have ever seen! He was patient, listened to me, and explained why he ruled out certain things. I have never felt so at ease in a clinical setting. I hope he reads this as I didn't get a chance to thank him.
J. T.
My son was ill on n off for 4 yrs I have taken him to the walk in centre on a few occasions and because he was so ill they tuck him into a room straight away ! Within minutes there was a team treating my son giving him medicine to help save his life within an hr an ambulance crew turned up to transfer us to hospital menigites!!so think it depends on just how ill you act are and cud you act wait to see your own gp if you have 1 they have been very good when iv been thete
C. M.
Went to this centre with bad pain in neck and a temperature. Was seen by a nurse who assessed me and took me almoslt immediately to see a doctor. He looked me over and said he thought my condition was quite serious and called an ambulance. On reaching the hospital I was found to have a serious condition. If the doctor at this centre had not taken this course of action I could have died
b. S.
I saw a female doctor called Dr Khan who was incredibly thorough and patient and who asked me multiple times whether I had any further questions or concerns. She did everything she promised to do the following morning also. I had to wait 1.5 hours however it was worth it for the service I received.
S. P.

Went at 8am when the service opened. Staff very friendly and efficient and I was out by 9am. They were very busy when I left so I guess the wait would increase considerably.
L. E.
Very happy with the service, seen quite quickly but your waiting time is all based on the symptoms you have
p. L.
Fantastic service - arrived at 8:50am seen and treated by a great nurse practicioner and out the door by 9:20.
S. H.
I visited here on Monday afternoon and the staff on duty could not have done anymore. Over the weekend I had had a bad experience, and my advice to people wanting care should go in the week as at the weekend the staff do not seem to care as much.
A. M.
Tend to be busy and parking can be a nightmare. Staff are brilliant but are obviously struggling with lack of room
