Reviews of Shakespeare Medical Practice
R. B.
This medical practice is a life saver, every medical problem my young son and daughter have had they have always been right, providing them with the best treatment and medication, they even called an ambulance for my daughter when she was ill and they arrived within 10 minutes. This is the only doctors I know and trust. Highly recommended.

I had an walk in appointment with Claire today at around 5pm my name is Sophie Welsh. I have never spoken to a medical professional who has shown me such care and compassion before. She fully listened to me and didn't make me feel silly for being soo worried and anxious. If Claire sees this, I want you to know you really helped me today and you're what other NHS staff members should strive to be. I could tell you were all so busy at the practice but that didn't come across in your care for me. Thank you for making a terrible day better. ❤️

I attended The Shakespeare walk-in centre today as my GP had no appointmentsI was greeted by most friendly and professional staff on my arrival. I was seen within 1 hour by a Dr who confirmed a chest infection. I have worked in Ed for 34yrs so felt very strange being on the otherside.Just wanted to say a big thankyou to you all and keep up the good work.
P. R.
This service is outstanding saw a doctor within 30 minutes on a bank holiday and again today again within 30 minutes when I couldn't even get a telephone call never mind an appointment with my GP. Cannot understand why GP services are so rubbish. Thank you for the great service.
K. A.
Amazing doctors. I’ve been with them since 2016 and, despite moving slightly outside of the city centre, wouldn’t change. Fantastic for mental health

****edit*** Massive turn around in the past couple of weeks. Didn’t have to ring 200 times, friendly and helpful receptionist. My referral place only just received my letter… but I’m inclined to say that’s because it was just sent, by maybe a much better and newly updated admin team…
The WORST doctors surgery I have ever been to, even before the pandemic. No queue waiting system so you have to ring 200 times to try and get through to actually speak to someone. Last time I went in I was stood at the front desk for easily 2/3 minutes before the staff acknowledged me. They had seen me come to the desk but they were too busy chatting about their lives outside of work… Any admin stuff or paperwork just gets lost or filled out incorrectly. I’m waiting for a referral (it’s been 9 months) but the wrong paperwork was sent out… still can’t get through to anyone. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

Although the wait was around 2.5 hours, about half of what it would have been if I'd gone to A&E, & my I couldn't get in to my own doctors.
I waited out in my car, cause I don't have a covid test( I'm double jabbed & had my booster).
Still the receptionist was really nice& polite as was the nurse.
E. G.
Could not get in to see my own doctor so visited here instead. They were absolutely fantastic, so helpful. A brilliant service - thank you.
C. H.
Well done to the Dr's and staff at this centre. Absolutely brilliant this past two weeks when my daughter has had to take her baby there twice because our own Dr's still very reluctant to give face to face appointments. You all need a pay rise for all the extra work, care and attention you give to patients.

I attended yesterday as my GP was closed and in a training afternoon. I am a registered nurse. I was greeted by a v calm and caring attitude in the receptionist which was v reassuring. I saw ANP Rebecca face to face, a pleasant change in itself as hard to see a GP these days, not that I do need one usually. Waited an hour only. I had a problem that was becoming more acute, was starting to affect my breathing and I was thinking I needed to attend A/E. Rebecca was A1 marvellous. Kind, understanding, professional, helpful, knowledgeable and reassuring. I have sent many patients to this walk in clinic and never attended myself. Well done everyone, honestly. I work in the pressures you work in too, but as attending ‘on the other side’ as it were, I am v grateful for your kind help and expert attention.

Had to use the walk in centre on Sunday morning due to acute, severe tonsillitis. The parking is easy and all is well posted, there's quite a lot of parking available. The receptionist was very kind and checked me in straight away and I was seen by a GP within 2 minutes; in and out within 10 minutes I was all sorted. The GP was very caring and helpful. There's a spacious waiting room in the practice - all in all very good and the best of the NHS.
s. a.
It was a fairly long wait, but doctor was great and staff, so can't complain too much, everything got sorted
T. R.
Had to go with my husband today from entering the walk in we were quickly greeted and treat with very politely and booked in .The service throughout even when seeing the doctor was a very positive experience. Very happy with the care and service received considering we had to go there because our own surgery couldn't see or fit us in
K. O.
Used the walk-in centre. Felicity was an absolute star and reception were incredibly helpful in me getting an emergency prescription. Things were quick and efficient and I was very happy with the service received.

Amazing service. Used this the 1st time the other day. Reception staff were so kind, even got my daughter drawing them pictures that they put up for everyone to see. This really helped when feeling unwell with a 3 year old running around being active. Got seen really fast and the Dr was amazing. Really good 5 star service. Proud of the NHS!

The staff a very friendly and the on-line system works very well in terms of managing appointments and looking at prescriptions.
The average advanced booking for me has been around 2 weeks which is around 2 weeks better than other practices that I have been registered with but can be a little frustrating when needed to book a non-urgent appointment.
I've had to use the out of hours walk-in twice and both times I had a very short wait. The walk-in wait during the day, however, can be in the range of 1-3 hours and you need to be there early to ensure you're seen to.
I have had to make an emergency appointment once and a slot was made available for me in the early afternoon.
There is very limited parking with most spaces taken up by staff so cycling, walking, or public transport are recommended.

The woman on reception wasn't friendly at all, yes some people are exempt from wearing a mask, me included, I go into such a state of shock and panic I pass out. I understand being careful, but when I was clearly in distress and upset I was made to sit outside in the cold, where I had a huge panic attack anyway as I thought I wasn't going to receive help. I was then smuggled in via the back entrance for a quick examination and back out as I waited for a prescription. Not all of us fake a disability to not wear a mask, some of us are genuine regardless of if you think 'noone is exempt' i don't choose not to wear one, if I could trust me I would it would make life so much easier expecially today, I hate how I was treated today, I felt like I was gunna have a heart attack during my panic. Please be kinder to those of whom genuinely cant wear them. I was terrified id develop septis again or something if I wasn't treated
J. G.
Receptionist with blue hair incredible rude telling me I don't need to be here to get my son seen like shes a doctor if I want to get my soon seen then ill get him seen so so rude
S. U.
Firstly the premises is very dilapidated, you have to walk past an open smelly bin store just to get to the front door, doesn’t set a good precedence. Inside its pretty run down and in the summer months it is scorching, you might leave severely dehydrated. Appointments always run late, 30 minutes waits are pretty normal and It’s not improved for a long time. Parking is also limited so avoid peak times if you want to drive.
The doctors are trying their best but there is always a rush to get you out, I think they probably only allow 5 minutes per patient. The administration team are in need of improvement, they mess up appointments and give contradictory information.
L. C.
As my doctor's no longer do sit and wait clinics they suggested I try here. Arrived around 10.30am. Parking is limited, I was lucky as someone was just leaving. Was seen within around 20 mins by a very nice female doctor and nurse who listened to my concerns and made me feel cared for something I don't always get at my own doctors. Overall impressed was expecting a much longer wait. Definitely recommend
S.
The Doctor this morning was excellent. I came here concerned about my ear as Ive been having a lot of trouble for the past 3 weeks and couldn't get an appointment at the surgery Im registered at. The doctor was very considerate and explained things to me so eloquently. I didn't catch her name but she has long straight brown hair and is a gem as far as I am concerned. All power to you Doctor and thank you for the help!

I have Shakespeare Medical setup as my GP and this is a walk in medical centre, but even though its my GP if there is an emergency and I call them, they ask me to walk in, but when I walk in the reception staff are usually rude asking not to do walk ins. On one occasion I arrive 5 minutes late for the appointment and the reception staff didn't let me see the doctor. I had to beg and apologize to see the doctor. Whereas on one occasion I had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes past my appointment time to give a blood test and I went up to the reception thrice during the wait to check what is happening and all I got was a very rude response I'll be called up when someone is free. The GPs and nurses here are very nice but the reception staff are just plain rude.
M. R.
I had worrying symptoms on Friday and great concern as I was unable to get appointment with my GP and was flying out of country on Sunday; I was advised to go the Shakespeare Medical Practice. The receptionist was very help and the nurse who saw me was extremely helpful, informative, and patient. Whilst it was the end of the day and there were still many patients in the waiting area, she took the time to hear me, examine me, and give full explanation of what she thought was causing the problem. I left feeling heard, medically cared for, and confident that I could go on my holiday. Thank you.
M. S.
I went for a walk-in appointment here because I couldn’t get one with my GP, and was very impressed with the service. The receptionist was friendly and I was seen by a doctor called Victoria within 10 minutes of arriving. She diagnosed me and gave me a prescription very quickly. I will definitely be using the walk-in service again if I can’t get an appointment with my GP!
G. g.
Been today with my grandson in and out within 20 minutes - excellent!
Returned next day due to ongoing condition with grandson doctor and staff were excellent referring us to LGI immediately.
Walkin centre is much easier for treatment than our own GP where it can be a weeks wait for an appointment unless you use A&E
P. v. E.
I've used the walk in clinic a few times and the staff have been great and I've been seen by doctors and nurses there who have listened to me and given me medication I needed to get me better. It's a great service and so much better than sitting in A&E for hours. The building maybe a bit run down but the service is great and that's all that matters.
M.
In and out today within 40 mins. Guy on reception was lovely and friendly and Dr was fab. Would highly recommend this service. Thank you all! I appreciate that sometimes you may have to wait longer but we had a great experience today.
J. C.
Took my little boy here today, seen very quickly even though it looked to be busy, staff were friendly, caring and understanding and the doctor was lovely even with a rather upset toddler. Unfortunately I didn't catch his name but thank you for your help... For a walk in centre I would HIGHLY recommend!!
B. T.
Brought my granddaughter in on. Sunday, the two receptionists were very kind and caring, making time to talk to both of my grandchildren. The male nurse was also nice. So glad to have a service like this in Leeds
V. K.
The good thing about this GP, are the reception staff. They are very receptive and kind to emergencies. I am a registered patient and to be honest, i had worst nightmares.
1. The only way you can book an appointment is by calling them at 8am, but the earliest you can get connected is by 8.30, more so when you have a lucky day. Online services do help these days, but nightmare continue for kids.
2. Even as being the registered patient, it is always a wait and watch, that can be up to 45 mins to an hour. See no point of being registered.
3. They lost my wife's blood and urine sample and made me visit them three times, and to her nightmare, they were looking in to a report that was few years old. Wish they could have told this, when was asked to drop by to the GP, for she was told her results have comeback.
4. Doctor's (some of them), do not like to be asked more than a problem / symptoms. Anything more than one per visit, they recommend you to make an appointment some other day, even so be it to check you weight or BP. This has been the case at least for 3 years, so far.
5. Doctor's (some of them), seems far too stressed and i have hardly seen them smiling. By now, i can predict their medication would but be none, every time you go for common symptoms of fever, cold, vomiting, loose poo and it is always blamed on viral going around and so on.
6. They were unable to spot an infection in my kid, on time and took nearly 2 months before they referred me to a surgeon (who was able to spot it in 2 mins), that too after threatening them i would go private.
Despite all this, i am forced to stick to them, since they are close to where i live. Not sure where and whom to should i complain, but they really are a big NO, unless they do some magic to drastically improve on their service.

Took my son to walk-in. Reception lady very nice, didn't wait long to be seen by a Doctor. Staff are polite and respectful. NHS at its best.
R. H.
I called in today to a have a dressing changed from a minor operation earlier this week.
The Lady and Gentleman at reception were very polite and helpful and we're able to slot me in.
Within 5 minutes I was called in by a Nurse who promptly but gently sorted out the dressing replacement, she too was very polite and helpful.
Thank you all.

Reception staff are always nice. But the Doctors can be very hit and miss. There is a bloke there who says I cant give you tablets for it before you have even sat down - so rude and argumentative! There is another chap there who is very happy and chatty and is a pleasure to see. But as it is a walk in you dont get a choice of who you see.
C.
Can be busy but such is the nature of the beast, otherwise you're dealt with quickly and with usually more care than your GP (or at least mine) would provide.
L. V.
I've used walk-in center few times for my twin girls and they've been great every time! Lovely reception staff and got seen within reasonable time! Lovely doctors!!
p. g.
Great medical centre and really help full staff . I felt unwell whilst at work i rang my own G.P. but was told no appointments for 2 weeks and they adviced me to try shakespeare medical centre. i turned up expecting to spend a few hours in the waiting room , but as soon as i had filled my details in i was seen with in 10 mins the nurse was really help full , i was given a pescription and back on my way to work in less than 20 mins . brilliant , i would use this centre again its so much easier than been fobbed off at my usual G.P.

I visited this practice for the first time on sunday to receive treatment for Tonsillitis, i was expecting a long wait but received treatment withing 15 minutes (good timing i think) The reception staff & doctor were very welcoming and supportive. You couldnt ask for a better service :)
R. B.
Lovely reception staff and lovely doctors! Went in as a walk in and as a new student in Leeds, i was incredibly nervous, both reception staff and doctors were very welcoming and friendly, didn't have to wait long considering it was fairly busy and the doctor I saw gave outstanding advice and was very attentive and quickly solved my problems😊
R. T.
Useless service if you try to book an appointment over the telephone. On previous occasions I spent over 50 min waiting in a queue and today I had to hang up after 90 minutes of waiting. I had to call the practice because they sent a message that our appointment for baby vaccination was cancelled by the practice.
On one occasion after 1 hour in the waiting room we were told that the agency nurse hadn't tutned up for work.
S. N.
Friendly staff. I was seen very rapidly even though it appeared very busy. Doctor was lovely and very empathetic. Setting the standard for what a visit to your GP should be Thanks to all at the practice.
D. S.
Fantastic the wait is well worth it attended a few times since pandemic as no doctors always been came out feeling well looked after treated as a person
P. F.
Today the 3/12/19.i visited the practice was seen by a lovely doctor he was very through his name was Neil I cannot remember his surname . But he was lovely took time and put my mind at rest. Thank you sir.. The staff are always helpfull. Thank you Mrs Patricia Fletcher.
C. S.
Visited on a Sunday, was in and out within 25 minutes. Lovely reception staff and the doctor was thorough. Good experience, left with a prescription, was a better system than my own doctors. 👍
R. H.
Quickest walk-in centre I've ever been to. In and out and all sorted in less than 10 minutes.
R. P.
5 months ago.. A woman working in the receptionist was rude and nasty. But this past few months
I didnt see her again. well that's good because this kind of behaviour is no longer in the receptionist. 😂😂😂😂 today people who worked in the reception are very polite and friendly.. And most of the doctors are great!!
R. W.
Friendly reception staff. Thorough and charming medical professionals. You may have to wait a while but when you can't get an appointment at your own surgery the centre is a godsend.
J. M.
Really nice lad on reception, really helpful.
Practice needs more money putting into it, or atleast a system so that only sick people get booked in because sometimes the wait time takes the absolute biscuit
r. l.
Very helpful reception staff. Been here few times and always been seen pretty quickly, good doctors. Highly recommend 👍 :)
S. A. D.
They work like Bees. Loved them.
J. M.
As a visitor to England it was great to be able to access medical assistance so easily. It turned out to be faster than an appointment visit than I would access with my own doctor in Australia.
Thank you.
A. D.
Friendly and helpful reception staff, daughter seen quickly by a very helpful doctor. Really great asset to the NHS in Leeds. Thank you!
M. M.
Excellent service the reception were very professional and many thanks to the staff and doctors who give up their weekends to man this practice . As for the people giving poor ratings take a book to read and treat the staff as you wish to be treated , stop whinging !
E. C.
Visited today with suspected water infection, prompt service, in and out within 25 minutes of getting there! Doctor I saw was knowledgeable and friendly, and put my mind at ease!!
R. B.
Came for the walk in service and it couldn't have been any better. Reception staff were lovely, only had to wait 5 minutes and the doctor was great.
S. l.
Receptionist are brilliant.
They dont ask to many questions and will do all they can to help.
Dina (think thats how its spelt) is a favourite she knows your name or she has that friendliness about her that you feel like you've known her forever.
J. R.
Always had the best advice and treatment from my doctors me and my family Great team always there to help with anything I think they are Amazing and don’t get enough good credit for all they do staff ‘ nurses & Doctors .👌🏼
A. M.
Dr Stephen Robertson was so attentive and showed genuine care for me that I'm gonna change my surgery to this one. Went in as a walk in, waited 10 mins tops. Great
L. W.
Used the walk in today and was in and out in less than 20 minutes , fab service and the women doctor was great as well.
W. R. l.
Visiting yesterday on an 'emergency basis' lovely chirpy receptionists greeted us- within 15 minutes called to see Doctor- the most unfriendly abrupt and unconcerned man ever encountered ! Oh dear
H. W.
I would give the doctor 5 stars who I saw, but the rude female receptionist who was sat eating her sandwich behind the counter would get 1 star and that is only given because she booked my appointment!!!
D. F.
Great service. Seen within an hour when going in as a walk in patient. Very attentive doctor. Thank you very much.
S. S.
Think it's great that the walk-in is open over the weekend. Staff were friendly and didn't have to wait very long 👍
