Reviews of East Street Surgery
M. C.I've been coming here for 7 years. I have mixed feelings about this practice.
There are / have been excellent doctors (Dr Steele, Dr Mortimer, Dr Hussain). Then you have those who have no business in the medical field (Dr Abraham), who dismissed me, when suffering from serious chronic symptoms, with "Do exercise, God bless".
The reception staff needs improvements. On more than one occasion they haven't picked up my calls, as other reviewers have pointed out.
E.g. a month ago I did a scan. The radiologists expressed some concerns and told me I might have to get checked again.
Yesterday I received an SMS "Your referral is ready for collection". I wasn't expecting one and started wondering if it was another scan I had to undergo, as previously suggested by the radiologists.
I called the surgery to ask for details. The phone rang for 30 seconds without answer. When I went to the surgery, I was given a referral produced in December for the scan I had already done.
Those two mistakes, combined together, have wasted quite a bit of my time.

K. D.The email repeat prescription service seems to work very well. On one occasion I'd forgotten to state which medication I needed and they called me straight away to confirm. Today (Tuesday) I called to book a GP appointment and it's for this Thursday! All in all a fantastic service.
E. B.Being using the centre for over 20 years. It has problems like any service but the staff are dedicated and friendly. Additionally you can visit the gp if you have an acute issue at 9:30am everyday. Speaking with my friends who use other services they say they would have to go to A&E. The centre could do with additional funding but I have given five stars for the staff as they are excellent and do their absolute best for their patients. I've read the reviews here and I won't lie the waiting can be a pain but you have to take all factors into consideration before making a sweeping remark. The gp is one of the most populated in the area and till now have not been given adequate funding. You only have to look at the equipment they use and filing method to know they need additional support. I can book an appointment to see the doctor within 1-2 weeks. Me personally I'm very grateful. S. M.All the Doctors are great and very thorough, but our Doctor is Gavin Steele, he knows us well,and has helped me so much, the reception staff are lovely, I owe my life to the surgery, keep it up everyone
