Reviews of Highgate Group Practice

I feel quite privileged to be under the care of Highgate Group Practice. I have two young children and the staff have always come through with their numerous and constant medical concerns. Even during the pandemic, it was always easy to access GP care and their online photo uploading portal is excellent. I can’t thank the staff enough for their diligence and care. They always go above and beyond and I truly appreciate it.

I have had great experience with this GP surgery. The appointments are quick, doctors are fantastic and admin is helpful and prompt. Keep it up! :))

I never write reviews but felt I needed to write this one. This is the third time I have encountered a very young receptionist who told me he has only worked at the surgery for a couple of months. Every time without fail he has been extremely friendly, patient and professional. Actually I would say this place does not actually deserve him and some of the other receptionist here could take a lead from his book. The empathy and friendliness I felt from him was incomparable, he listened o everything I said and has always given me exactly what I have asked for without fail. Thank you so much to him and I'll look out for him on my next visit as he is one of the very few competent receptionist at the practice.

I have dealt with two GPs at this practice and found both to be outstandingly professional, responsive and friendly. Arranging appointments can be a bit tricky at busy times, but flexibility around future appointments also seems to have recently improved. Highly recommended.

EDIT: I actually managed to get an appointment (not sure why this was suddenly possible) and the actual surgery is great. There seems to be a specific problem with some staff or processes and communication.
ORIGINAL:
This is just absolute insanity: in order to get an appointment, you need to call at 8:30am on the dot to be added to a phone queue. The appointment is then ONLY for the same day of the following week. If the slots are full - you're told to call again the next day for the same phone roulette! They can't even give you an appointment in a months time. So if you're missing the 8:30 fight over the phone slots every day - tough. The best thing is that this system is only explained after repeatedly asking why on earth one can't get an appointment. Otherwise you're just told to 'call tomorrow morning'. How on earth is this system still functioning?

Fantastic GP surgery who have always managed to see me and my family promptly. Memorably, I called on a Friday at 5pm with a febrile baby and was seen by 5:30pm! Good doctors, friendly front of desk staff. Antenatal and post natal care in particular have been very good.

They've not kept my phone appointments for my consultation following test results from the hospital, have just been rescheduled for a third time. Was told I will need an operation in the near future and possibly another procedure but waiting to hear more - which was suggested in a post-hospital call some months ago now. I am doing the chasing at the moment as am being given appointments and then, on the day, they are not in the diary. Seems to have a basic admin issue with scheduling.
On the flipside:
Good service re getting mole checks.
Professional and pain-free cervical screening.
Once you get an appointment, they are fairly efficient with referring to hospital when initial issues are discussed.
Have been seen by some really caring female doctors previously.
Clean and COVID responsible premises.
FYI, they can no longer see you if you have circulation issues/varicose veins and cannot refer you hospital for this (this occurrence pre-dates COVID). Felt a bit told off for making an inquiry about increasingly swollen varicose veins, despite having an operation on them previously via this practice. Could be a nationwide thing with the NHS re not pursuing this, but was upsetting when the doctor expressed incredulity that they had helped me with this issue previously.
