Professor Bo Povlsen is a true expert at what he does, he has treated my wrist fracture, has put me at ease at all times and was always able to answer all of my questions. The experience I have received was only positive. I would also like to say thank you to Caroline for being so flexible when arranging appointments to accommodate my schedule, as well as answering any queries I had. I was referred to Associate Prof Bo Povlsen after experiencing pain in my right thumb and wrist. Assoc Prof Povlsen patiently diagnosed it as a combination of Carpal Tunnel syndrome and deQuervain's syndrome and treated me during the Covid Lockdown period. I was prescribed a thumb spica/wrist brace which was a customised brace for my hand which I wore for a few weeks, together with exercises recommended by Assoc Prof Povlsen and the hand therapist. I was also advised to use ergonomic equipment for computer work and proper hand placement. Assoc Prof Povlsen saw me at regular intervals either in person or over video conference. I was given a steroid injection after being advised about the process. The pain has disappeared after the injection and the phased recovery process advised by Assoc Prof Povlsen. Thank you to Caroline who followed up on appointments and consultation letters. I cannot recommend London Hand Clinic, Assoc Prof Bo Povlsen and Caroline enough for treating me so well.

Professor Bo Povlsen and the London Hand Clinic were fantastic! I was treated rapidly and effectively for stubborn and painful De Quervain's tenosynovitis brought on by pregnancy. I visited Prof Povlsen for my shoulder pain. The pain was constant for three months and really made me sad! Prof Povlsen was very professional, identified the cause of pain quickly, and proposed effective and individually tailored treatment plans. Assoc Prof Bo Povlsen has given me the best care and attention that i could ever ask for once again. This is my second visit to him for another injury which he diagnosed as de Quervain’s syndrome to my right thumb / wrist. I was given a steroid injection some six weeks ago, which has now cured my syndrome with no side affects and within a matter of days. As before i was given reassuring advice on how the procedure would be preformed and the potential outcomes. Assoc Prof Povlsen did an excellent job handling my broken radial head, discussing the options and helping me select the best course of treatment to ensure a speedy and full recovery. We ended up replacing the radial head with an implant to ensure the hand and arm recovered full functionality. Having previous seen him for a broken wrist the year before, I took my more serious injury to the clinic certain of a non-nonsense assessment and treatment plan.

As a professional musician, it was vital that I understood the full situation regarding my finger, and the options available for further treatment. Prof Povlsen took great care to judge my case, to explain what treatment I should have been offered, and what needed to be done to restore my finger to its correct position and flexibility. His patience and professionalism put my mind entirely at ease, and I am confident that I can move forward. EXCELLENT SERVICE 5 STAR I visited Assoc. Professor Povlsen at the London Hand Clinic in June 2017 after a cycling accident caused me to break my collar bone. Assoc. Prof Povlsen was able to see me a short notice and later carried out an excellent operation to repair my shoulder. The operation was very successful with no side effects and the service I received was first class. Assoc. Prof Povlsen is very friendly and professional and the London Hand Clinic was always available for my questions. I was back at work 2 weeks later! Since then, the scar is minimal and I have recently returned to see Assoc. Prof Povlsen to have the plate removed now that my shoulder is fully healed. Once again the London Hand Clinic, Assoc. Prof Povlsen and his Secretary were excellent and this time I was seen as a day patient. Both operations have been first class and completely problem free. Highly recommended - excellent professional service.

I had right thumb fracture and nail bed infection for over 6 months, and I've consulted several doctors in different hospitals since the beginning but none of them were really helpful for the infection part, only gave me different kinds of antibiotics to be taken orally. I was so frustrated that worried it will not heal whatever I do until I decided to try one last time with Prof Povlsen in London Hand Clinic. He was very friendly and professional, who understood all my concerns, noticed all the details and explained to me with unbelievable patience. He has great sense of humor to ease my tension during the operation, got right on the spot of my condition and cured the problem in only two weeks! I have to say he is the best doctor I've met in the UK (since living here in 2003). Absolutely will recommend to all my friends!

Unfortunately for me, I have required the services of Professor Polvsen on several different occasions, and for various reasons over the last 8 years, including repairing a botch job carried out by another surgeon. From repairing a badly damaged wrist, to an operation for tennis elbow, (and various other treatments), I can wholeheartedly say that the level of professionalism from beginning to end, including his appointment procedures and bedside manner, have been exemplary, and way above and beyond what I have experienced for both myself and my family with other practices. I visited Prof. Provlsen for diagnosis and treatment of my right shoulder dislocation between Dec-16 to Mar-17. In the last 10 years, I have been suffering from multiple shoulder dislocations every 6-30 months and have visited over 10 specialised doctors in Hong Kong, UK and China. Among all doctors / consultants I met, Professor Provlsen is among the best in term of experiences, technical knowledge and ability to clearly articulate his diagnosis. Post this treatment, I am quite confidence that my next dislocation should be more than 30 months away (finger-crossed) and hopefully, never happen again. Best, Caesar

After cancer treatment and developing lymphodema the first symptom was a painful thumb joint, which I put up with until it had become so sensitive and painful that I almost passed out when I knocked it. Then I knew that I had to do something and consulted Prof Povlsen who -after diagnostic x-rays prescribed restricting movement with a splint and then after 2 weeks when it had settled down injected it with steroids and local anaesthetic. That was incredibly painful BUT then a short while later it was just so much better I almost cried with relief! My first injection lasted almost a year before I needed another, and the second is holding, giving me almost normal control. I have modified how I do certain things, after all I am also getting older and can’t expect to do things for decades without ill-effects on joints! I am glad that I was able to consult Prof Povlen who helped me more than just by treatment but also by redirecting me to help myself. I shall probably have to have it done again, but now I know what to expect and how to make it last longer.
