Reviews of The Avenue Surgery
S. v. S.
I joined the surgery last week and have been impressed with my experience thus far. The nurse I saw, Melanie, was friendly, professional and caring and took the time to really listen to me and allay my nerves during our appointment. It made such a difference. Today, I had a phone consultation with a pharmacist to review my medication and again, I really felt cared for and listened to. Thank you Anisah and Melanie, I’m grateful to have been treated by you both.

I would like to thank all the staff of this practice as we have been registered here for over 3 years now and we always received excellent support. The staff is very friendly and kind and are always willing to help. It is a pleasure to be with this GP as my mother is a recovering sepsis survivor and her health condition has improved significantly due to the help of all the nurses and doctors. I would like to personally thank you for helping my mother and taking care of my own health as well for which I am truly grateful. I am looking forward for a prosperous future of this practice.

After meeting one of the GPs and walking out in tears I was convinced that I would have had to move Surgery yet again but Dr Dharma saved the day! Being unwell often needs a bit of compassion and patience and that is exactly what I received. I finally feel like someone cares about my health and wellbeing, I have been treated like a human being and I am hoping that I can now start my journey towards being well. As for the Surgery itself, the waiting room is clean and tidy, the building is beautiful and extremely well preserved and the Staff is kind and pleasant. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait to have calls answered but it is understandable as the Practice is busy. The Pharmacist is so nice and easy to talk to, she really understands pain and discomfort and she is so helpful!

Great surgery. Good doctors, staff. Responsive.
Busy at times during this pandemic but I always get my needs met

Thank you to the caring surgery receptionist (apologies that I didn't get your name) and Dr Livingstone for helping me yesterday. Prompt service with kindness.

Exceptional service. I was not able to pick up the call from the doctor as I had a very bad reception. So I called them, they kindly helped me to get to the doctor. Thanks, you guys are really helpful.

Totally disgraceful encounter with this practice on the phone. Having just moved to this area I promptly registered with the GP and completed all relevant documents as I have newborns between their 8 and 12 week immunisations. I had to chase 4 times on the phone to get registered. When finally registered the receptionist could only offer me an appointment 3 weeks down the line, when I asked for someone clinical to review as this would delay their immunisations he offered me the same date for a telephone clinic appointment! The receptionist then accused me of being innapropriate on the phone....for advocating for ny newborns immunisations....totally disgraceful! ****UPDATE....following a written complaint I am happy with the practices response and have had earlier appointment provided. Solutions provided and investigation into complaint was prompt and I have been reassured delay in appointment will not affect my newborns health

I just registered here, so my experience is about how lovely the reception was!
It was a pleasant experience, painless and amazing🤩

Very good surgery overall. Dr Dharman's knowledge of just about anything I ask about is actually amazing. And it also appears someone new has joined the reception team as the communication via email from them recently has really improved. Nice personal touch in the tone.

I’m a new patient to this surgery and I am not having a great experience already…
Despite the initial difficulties to get the NHS app to link to my Airmid app records, after a couple of calls the receptionists have been able to fix this and I have eventually managed to book my first appointment for the 12th November.
The time slot shown on the Airmid app was 09:30-09:40. Nobody called me during that time so I called the surgery to confirm I was booked and that someone was going to call me. The receptionist has kindly explained to me that the actual slot was from 09:30-12:30 although it is still showing me the wrong information in the app. I waited until 12:30 and nothing changed. No call from the doctor whatsoever. I have then called the practice again and the receptionist has asked me to be patient and keep waiting telling me I am booked for the appointment but she doesn’t know when I will receive the call. Then she suggested I went to take a look on their website where it allegedly says that slots can change. I was not able to find this information on the website nor I was ever notified that my slot changed . Also mine was supposed to be a morning appointment where I knew I would have been free, it’s now 1330 in the afternoon and nobody has yet called me. I feel like I cannot even go and have a shower in case somebody calls me when I’m in the shower , my whole day of commitments has now been disrupted and I feel quite frustrated about it especially when I have been so patient and I am asked to be more patient, that really does not help. I understand that the slots can change but from the morning to the afternoon It seems a bit unrealistic to me. A slot should not be supposed to take this large amount of time or else it is not a slot anymore… I hope someone will call me soon as I have been waiting for this to happen since 0930 am…
***UPDATE***
Dr. Dharman called me at 1400 and he started the conversation by kindly apologising and explaining that he has had many emergencies to deal with today and that there is a shortage of staff lately. I very much appreciated him taking the time to explain this to me which really made a difference and improved the experience. We then discussed my health condition and he was very reassuring and empathic, also his knowledge and competence were top notch! These really are the qualities you are looking for in a GP. Despite the initial negative experience he has been able to turn it around into a positive! I won’t give it 5 stars due to the timing issue which definitely needs to be improved but it is well worth the 4 starts! Thank you!

Wonderful surgery - I have been with this practice since I was a baby, I bring my children here and my parents are also patients here. Both doctors are knowledgeable, professional and caring and I have always felt listened to. Because it is a small practice there is the chance to get to know the team and to have that personal touch is increasingly rare these days. Thank you for continuing to care and keep up the good work.

Great GP surgery.
Sometimes it is a bit of a back and forth with the receptionist to get an appointment etc however my previous experiences with other surgeries have been terrible - I think generally they just have to follow a protocol. Once talking to the various GPs I have always found them to be very thorough on phone calls and in person.
Overall for me a good surgery!

I've always been happy with the service I received here and I felt like the GP's do care. However, I feel quite let down by them because I'm being treated for a serious illness and I recently moved to an address outside the GP's catchment area. I asked them a couple of months in advance if I could stay registered with them while I finished treatment and told them where I was moving to and they said that was absolutely fine. When I got back in touch to tell them that I'd moved I then received a letter telling me I will be deregistered after a month! It's very frustrating because I now need to sort out registering with a new GP and making sure my medication is being prescribed whilst I'm still in the middle of treatment. I wish the communication had been clearer from the start.

I registered with this surgery a couple of years ago and I can honestly say the staff are fantastic. The doctors are very thorough and competent. It's s busy surgery but I feel I'm in good hands

A fantastic community surgery that has consistently provided an excellent service for me and my family. The Avenue staff, across all roles, are courteous, friendly, and interested in their patients. Thank you.

Amazing and caring staff. Even in my bipolar moments, they are very helpful.

I have been with this practice for 7 years and have had nothing but positive experiences. Even with the pressure that local services are under with more and more properties being built in the area, I have always been seen promptly and courteously, and have found the practice to be flexible and extremely professional.

I'm new to this GP ,they welcomed me very kindly and were very helpful.
I would especially give thanks to Anita and Caroline Burton for the help they've given me.
I'm very happy to be in this new GP.
Excellent staf !!!

Everything alright, very nice stuff & doctors, very helpful and caring. The practice is obviously busy, as expected for the location, but always trying to help as soon as possible and as needed.

I have been a patient with the surgery for 22 years. While I can get medical treatment at any surgery, at the Avenue I get medical care, where the caring shines through.
J. P.
My family and I have gone to them for 5 years now and we're really happy with them. Thanks for all the support!
M. S.

(Translated) I wanted to register for GP, so I chose this place, which was the most highly rated in the vicinity of Eering Broadway. I was at a loss for another thing, but I decided to email. I have published my e-mail address, and when I emailed it, I received a short but quick reply.
To register for GP, you will need your passport, address certificate (letter from the bank) and registration paper (including our special paper).
When I first went to get only the registration form around 6 o'clock, I said, "It is necessary to come by 5 o'clock for GP registration", so after filling out the registration form with a lot of entries at home, I visited again. (No reservation required).
I didn't know, but it seems that the NHS number was actually assigned when I got the visa, and the second time I looked it up on my computer and quickly told me the number and filled it out on the registration form.
A male receptionist (Indian?) Who looks a little nervous, but I think it's good.
In addition, since I came for the purpose of GP registration and NHS number acquisition, I may not receive an actual medical examination, but it is an evaluation up to the registration.
