Over the last 7 years my son has been to Professor Bruce several times for his ears and nose,. He had glue ear in one ear and was pretty deaf from it, so he had grommets twice. His other ear had a burst ear drum since he was quite small, and recently Professor Bruce patched it so now his hearing has improved in that ear, and we will no longer have to waterproof his ear when he goes swimming or near water, and more importantly the tinnitus caused by the hole has now gone. The surgeries have always gone with no issues and have always been successful. Recently Professor Bruce also cauterized my son's nose, as his nose bleeds have not settled down and could wake him at nights and also not stop for long periods (whilst at school). Throughout Professor Bruce has explained clearly as to the issues and the options to fix the issues, and sometimes that will include doing nothing. He has always put my child at ease and explains things so my son understands. Adam who works with Professor Bruce, makes hearing tests fun for the kids and again puts them totally at ease. The way they work together means you are seen quickly and efficiently, so not waiting for long periods. I'd highly recommend Professor Bruce.

Our daughter has been under Prof Bruce's care for various ENT issues for the past six years and we wouldn't go to anyone else. Prof Bruce has always guven us options to carefully consider and taken time to explain pros and cons of the choices. Prof Iain Bruce is saving my hearing. Last month whilst walking I went completely deaf in my right ear - from excellent hearing to nothing. Knowing the seriousness of this I consulted with an expert and was diagnosed with SSHL. Prof. Bruce is an expert in his field and is fully up to date with current medical breakthroughs. He also applies his wisdom with the current science and the risk appetite of each patient as an individual. Thank goodness! Through my current treatment plan I’m on the road to hearing again in my right ear. I’ve gone from profound to serious to moderate hearing loss and my treatment continues…. I would thoroughly recommend Prof. Bruce for any hearing issue - he has saved my hearing.

After months, and multiple appointments of conflicting advice, trying to work out what was causing my son's continuous pain, Professor Bruce made a huge difference. He quickly investigated and cancelled out all ENT possibilities and crucially directed us to the individual who could support with the next most likely cause. We first saw Prof Bruce in July last year and then again this year for another procedure. He was extremely professional and had a great manner making my 3 year old feel really at ease. Each time we've seen Prof Bruce, he's explained everything thoroughly and reassured me at a truly worrying time for any parent. My 9 year old child had pinnaplasty surgery recently due to feeling increasingly self conscious about the appearance of their ears. Professor Bruce explained the procedure very clearly during the consultation, the nursing staff at the hospital were brilliant and very reassuring and the results are absolutely fantastic! My child is so happy with how the ears look now and did not experience any problems at all with healing. I cannot thank Professor Bruce enough, would highly recommend him to anybody else considering this surgery for their child.

We made an appointment with Professor Bruce to understand the ENT issue suffered by our one year old son, Theo His kindness, support and clear explanations (especially of the middle ear canal, and specially glue ear) were so appreciated as we were (are!!) tired, emotional and very concerned parents. Professor Bruce was absolutely fantastic with our son, finding a specialist who can engage with children is not always easy but our son was put at ease and actually enjoyed the consultation. I highly recommend Professor Ian Bruce. I travelled down to Manchester from Fife in Scotland specifically to to have him treat my son Lee. Lee has a very complex health history from a childhood malignant brain tumour and Professor Bruce came very highly recommended from an ENT consultant in Fife. He had surgery to have a cochlear implant fitted in mid August 22 and Iain was fantastic. I felt 100% confident in putting him in charge of Lee's care and knew that throughout the whole process every consideration was given to Lee.

Professor Bruce saw our son when he was weeks old with suspected Vocal Cord Palsy. He performed a direct laryngo-tracheo- bronchoscopy(DLTB) and luckily found this not to be the case. He has recently seen him again at 4 years old and performed an in-office procedure. He is so knowledgeable, skilled, reassuring, and good with children. We felt in good hands when he was a tiny baby as we do right now. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Mr Bruce for any area of paediatric ENT.

I don't I have the words to describe what Professor Bruce has done for our 2.5 year old daughter... Within minutes of our first meeting he after months of not being heard by other doctors heard me and spoke to me like I was human and a mother... From being 10 months old I knew something wasn’t quite right with my son, he wasn’t sleeping, he was having 5 hours sleep on a good night and napping for 15 minutes at the very most during the day. He didn’t babble and had very little concentration. He wasn’t able to walk, he could stand up but never let go of the sofa. I lost count of how many professionals I have seen for advice and help with my son, I visited my GP atleast twice a month since being 10 months, I took him to A&E 8 times and was made to believe I was going crazy, that he was fine and just delayed with his development. My son was 22 months when I took him to see Professor Iain Bruce at The Spire for one final opinion and I am so glad that I did. He has changed my sons life and I will never be able to thank him enough. Within minutes of meeting with Iain Bruce he told us my son had glue ear and told us everything about it and what the next steps were. He reassured us that it was going to be ok and that he would do everything he could to help my son. I left the appointment and trusted him completely, he was the first doctor I knew had listened to what I had told him and I could tell he cared about my son. For the first time I knew everything was going to be ok. And true to his word, a month later my son had his operation for grommets and he’s now walking, dancing, babbling and actually trying to say words. From the very first night the grommets were fitted, he slept 12-14 hours a night and is having up to two hours sleep in the day. He is a completely different child, I will never be able to thank him enough for what he has done for my son and for my family. We will never forget him, my only regret is I didn’t see him sooner to save my son months of suffering.

Professor Iain Bruce recently performed surgery on our 15 year old boy Jack. He’d had complications with his right ear since being 3 months old. However, in the past year he was suffering quite badly with reoccurring ear infections and glue ear so we decided to seek a private consultation. After searching reviews of surgeons we found professor Bruce. The first time we met with him he was very optimistic about the outcome of performing a Myringoplasty on Jack’s ear. He also informed us of any complications but with very low statistics, which reassured us completely! Jack had the surgery in April at The Spire hospital in Didsbury, which turned out to be more complex. Professor Bruce took the time straight after surgery to come and explain in details the further procedures he had to perform in order for the surgery to be successful. We are so happy with the outcome and Jack has very little scarring and the surgery has even restored his hearing to near normal. We can’t thank professor Iain Bruce enough for his continued professionalism and meticulous attention to detail throughout the whole consultation. Thank you!
