Reviews of Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgery

The staff here are good, my doctor (Howlett) is always very kind and helpful. The dispensary is well stocked meaning you can often get the treatment you need on the day and not have to take your prescription elsewhere.
Parking at the front is available. This surgery recently reopened in Spring 2018 after extensive building work to extend the property meaning treatment rooms are more spacious and better designed, helping this surgery treat the local community.
You usually have to call two weeks before you want to be seen, though as this surgery works closely with Hovingham there is a little more flexibility for those who drive. Last minute appointments are sometimes available.

Seems to be one of the few surgeries that is trying to look after its patients. All of my friends who are with doctors in York are not having the same experience. Well done A&HS

THANK YOU DR DEANE JACOBS, currently of Ampleforth Village Surgery near York, for SAVING MY LIFE this week. Fifty wasps or more stung me many miles away from A&E in a field in Oswaldkirk and I had a life threatening anaphylactic shock. Miraculously, Clare at the Ampleforth Surgery (thank you so much Clare too) had the good sense to advise Dr Deane of the reported incident and he attended very quickly. His ability and manner were profoundly able, effective, kind and professional. Even not fully conscious, I could just make out most of his reassurance and explanations of what was going on as I was seemingly losing it and his fast medical interventions, along with help from others including First Responder Dave Thompson (thank you so much Dave), saved my life. Had Dr Deane not attended and so promptly, I am told I would not be here to write this review. The ambulance crew, A&E and York Hospital were spendid too, once help from far away arrived.

I am a new patient here. I recently had a bone graft on my foot. After using all the pain relief I was given on discharge from the hospital, I rang and spoke to one of dispensary team to ask if a GP could prescibe more. The person I spoke to was very helpful, and the following morning I recieved a text message telling me the medication was ready to collect. Excellent service.
