This was my first time taking my puppy for a groom, which I was quite nervous about When I arrived, all of the staff were just extremely polite and welcoming. My pup Miko was very comfortable and calm being handed to them and enjoyed a lot of fuss and cuddles before I left All staff made me feel calm and eased my worries about her first puppy trim When collecting my pup, she was beautifully washed, dried and cut. She’s normally a nervous dog in new situations but I came back to a super happy and excited puppy smelling great too!! I could not recommend more. I will be returning for her regular appointments each month. Thank you so much!

Cannot rate these wonderful dog groomers highly enough. Took our Kitch (Tibetan Terrier) last week for his first 'proper' cut, after 2 puppy trims. They made absolutely sure we were all on the same page when it came to length, and he came out looking amazing. Won't ever go anywhere else now.

5 stars for our first visit to Muttley and Mabel. My German Shepherd, Devon was a bit grumpy on arrival and barked out of nervousness I think but Henrietta told me he was a good boy in the end, although a bit barky. A shame about his lack of manners but thankfully they're all very understanding there, he smells amazing and feels so soft now, he's also had his nails trimmed. Thank you

I have been using the girls at ‘Mutley and Mabel’s for the past 4 years with our Tibetan Terrier ’Kuba’ and always they are calm and considerate of our dogs needs and always produce a fantastic cut! We have recently adopted a rescue Tibetan Terrier ‘Oreo’ who doesn’t particularly like people touching his rear end and the previous owners couldn’t groom him. Due to this, when he came to us he was really matted, so much so it was hurting him. He would constantly bite at his skin to try and get rid of the knots. Well when he went in the girls were so good with him. On our return we were shown the ‘sheepskin rug’ that they had shaved off as they had to take him right down. They said that as his fur was coming off he just relaxed with the new found freedom he felt! Thanks girls. We’re so grateful of your excellent work you do for our dogs. We would (and often do) recommend ’Mutley and Mabel’s for grooming your dogs!

Absolutely fantastic results from Muttley & Mabel! My pooch is smelling so good and his fur feels like silk! The difference in his coat is quite amazing. We didn't realise just how much he has been shedding due to the changing seasons. It's like he's lost 10 Lbs! Highly recommend this place 👍🏼

Very professional set up and they did a lovely job with my Border Collies. You will need to book several weeks in advance. That wont stop me booking again.

Took my new rescue Swiss Shepherd Fred to Muttley and Mable on recommendations from Facebook. Fred is a nervous dog and this was probably his first visit to such a place after 6months in the RSPCA centre. Upon arriving the staff really put us at ease asking for his background and needs as part of there assessment then our needs of the day Ie natural look or very tidy etc. Fred had a full groom and really loved his hour and half not only does he now look even more stunning he sleeps human too. The staff are great know there stuff well and tho it’s very busy the pen type holding they use created a safe space for nervous Fred to feel ok during his treatments. Overall we are very pleased with the results and that Fred was very comfortable during his stay thanks to highly experienced staff.. have booked agin in 8 weeks.

I've been taking my dogs here for the last few years, and it has always been a great experience - Even though I know my two Cocker Spaniels don't really enjoy the experience, I know they're in great hands with the staff here! Not to mention, they come away smelling amazing for days on end! I'd definitely recommend booking your dog's in here if you don't already!

This is one of the best groomers I have ever taken my dog to. I have a Japanese Spitz so her fur can't be trimmed, but they give her such an amazing bath and de-shed, she comes out less than half the size, smells amazing and has neat feet and paws!

Roxy loves going for her grooms. She gets so excited when we get out the car to go in. She loves the staff. They are always welcoming and professional and offer a great service. Roxy comes home smelling beautiful.

I can’t rate Muttley and Mabel highly enough! The grooming parlour has been very well thought out by dog lovers, as there are no holding cages at all (my dog hates to be crated!) It’s the best groomers I’ve ever been to and would highly recommend them. My dog is a rescue and is very anxious. All the groomers are so patient and lovely with her and she now loves going there. Thank you Muttley and Mabel for turning a negative experience into a positive one for my dog. Wouldn’t take her anywhere else now 😊

My boyfriend and I took his dog who is very nervous and they were marvellous with him (the dog, not the boyfriend). It's a bright, clean well thought out place with no cages, easy to find and lots of parking. The staff are friendly and professional and did an amazing job with him, he looked and smelt great afterwards and seemed to enjoy being pampered! Who knew! Have two spaniels who regularly come to Muttley and Mabel. One of them can be slightly difficult to groom. Every time they both come away looking and smelling amazing, but most importantly happy. All the groomers really worked with her and made her feel comfortable, before we found them going to the groomers could be a very stressful experience, but now she loves it! Thank you so much

Had heard about this place from so many people. It certainly lives up to its reputation. Gorgeous salon, extremely friendly staff and my dog came out looking and smelling like a show dog. We love Muttley & Mabel! We take our three, Bonnie, Clyde and their daughter Moosh for nail clips with the Veterinary Nurse Sue- who is just lovely- and the groomers are all so helpful , friendly and caring too! Can’t recommend highly enough! 5 stars - only place to go in Colchester 🐾

My dog has always hated being groomed with an absolute passion but ever since going to Mutley & Mabel not only is he groomed fantastically, he isnt as nervous or aggressive as he has been going to other groomers. I cant recommend this grooming parlour enough, I’ve taken both my very large golden retriever and very small pug. They both come out really happy and love that they do not need to be crated, they have there own luxurious pen! I will be back 😀

Toffee and Milo my Irish Setters have just had a lovely groom and trim. The Ladies were very attentive regarding my needs for how I wished the dogs to look, and they got them spot on. Well done and all the best for the future. I will be back!

I work on the same estate and occasionally have my dog in the office, During the summer I took him for a dog walk and he got loads of sap from the trees stuck to his pads and the fur on his feet (he is an Australian labradoodle so he has alot!) and he was beginning to become a little distressed. Not having any suitable washing facilities or even doggy shampoo available at work i took him into Mutley and Mabel asking if I could wash his feet quickly. They took him round, shampooed his feet and took off all the sap for me and didn't charge me a penny! I could not be more grateful! Bertie has also been for a wash and dry and they did a fabulous job! lovely lovely place with great staff!

Took my anxious pug Ralph in an attempt to get his teeth cleaned. As expected he wasn't accommodating so left without clean teeth! Sue tried really hard and I couldn't fault the service and determination. A huge thank you to Sue for persevering and the advice she gave me. This was my first visit to Muttley and Mabel and based on this visit, I would certainly use again.

I highly recommend this grooming parlour after seeing just how happy (and very well groomed!) my dog was once he had visited. A very professional and kind environment, I will be back!
