An all round great experience with Headington Dog Training. Martin, Helen, and Ralph were amazing and so supportive and helpful throughout - from puppy classes (via Zoom in the depths of lockdown!) through Bronze, Silver, and finally Gold obedience training. We got so much out of it, my Labrador has learnt so much - and me even more! The only downside is it had to end! Hopefully some extra dog agility classes in the future might be possible? Those were our favourite lessons!

I would highly recommend Headington Dog Training. Martin and Helen know exactly what they are doing and helped us enormously with Dennis .. a very excitable spaniel ! Their expertise guided us through from puppy classes and eventually on to passing our gold assessment, something I didn't think we would achieve.

Helen and Martin are amazing, so knowledgable and friendly, with masses of patience. We have attended puppy classes and bronze level classes, which have made a big difference in how we have trained Ollie. Ollie is the first dog we have owned so it was all new to us Martin and Helen have been amazing with classes, 1-1’s and confirming training details on email. I think I was harder to train than Ollie!! I would highly recommend Headington Dog training.

I was having terrible trouble with my eight year old cocker spaniel. He was pulling on the lead, and also getting very over-excited, even screaming with delight at times, which caused me great embarrassment. I was recommended, thank goodness, to Martin Stroudley, who, when he walked through the door my dog just seemed to calm down. He said I was using the wrong lead and harness, both of which I have replaced, and demonstrated how to use special treats to encourage different behaviour. With only two lessons my whole life with my dog has changed, I am in control, I am calmer, and so is he. Walking is a delight, and I now understand my dog's behaviour so much better. Martin is wonderful, and I feel very grateful, I just wish I had contacted him many years ago - don't delay!

I attended their puppy class with our new basset hound puppy. It was a really helpful experience, especially for me as this is my first time owning a dog. I had taken a workshop before our puppy arrived and read several books, but knew I would need a class with the puppy once he was home. I was so glad I took this class; I learned so much! It was all positive reinforcement training, which was what I was looking for. The class size was very good and the class time of 45 min was about as long as I could handle. Bassets are not known to be easy to train, but I definitely learned important things for handling him correctly that have made our time so much better. I am looking forward to the next classes as I am sure I have so much more to learn. Helen and Martin, the couple who run the class, are friendly, professional, and provide succinct information in writing to supplement the class. Highly recommended.

To put it simply Martin and Helen at Headington Dog Training are brilliant. They are extremely knowledgeable, professional yet friendly, and fun to be around. Martin is a fantastic dog trainer, he keeps everything simple and straightforward, using hand gestures with every command. The hand gestures are very useful as dogs don't always listen, but they will watch you so having both doubles your chances of having your command obeyed. They also help keep the dogs attention on you at all times, which is paramount. With my previous dog who had undiagnosed L2 HGA, Martin was the only one to listen to us and see that there was an underlying health problem causing him to behave in certain ways which weren't his fault or a training problem. Most people (behaviourists and vets included) simply put it down to puppy problems and laughed it off, even though we had valid concerns about safety etc. As soon as I got a new puppy I let Martin know and booked a visit and puppy classes with him. There is no one else I would go to. My new puppy adores him and his 'rocket fuel' training treats. Helen is a very caring and reassuring person, I've not had as much direct contact with her but she's always there at the training sessions. Going around to help everyone perfect their command and technique, giving tips and critiques; she is invaluable. Trevor is always on hand too with a smiley face to assist with the classes. Helping to set up and support the training, he's there to step in if anyone needs him. If you're looking for a dog trainer then there isn't anyone better. I can't thank Headington Dog Training enough for all of the help they've given me so far and can't wait for the next set of classes.

Very enjoyable, encouraging and supportive environment. The puppy class, working towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen puppy level award, was really good. Martin and Helen give really clear guidance and get great results. The puppy had great fun, and so did I!

Helen done 2 home visits with our puppy. Honestly we couldn’t recommend enough, with only just a couple weeks in between the 2 visits our pup is basically fully house trained, she comes when we call her, sits, waits, lies down, loves her crate, brilliant with other dogs and meeting new people. You can tell Helens love for dogs is genuine as well as wanting the best for them and the owners. She will send you a recap of what you have gone over with the instructions, links to helpful tips, advice and anything else you have discussed or might benefit you.
