We only went to donate some blankets and towels. The place looked spotless and clean. Didn't see any furry residents but could hear them. The staff seemed really friendly and appreciated the donation.

We adopted a little Yorkie /chihuahua at the beginning of December 2021 and she is the most delightful little girl who has totally charmed us. She is still a little timid but she knows that we love and look after her.

All dogs should have a loving home. It’s Sad to hear dogs calling out so helplessly.if you have room to give a dog a good home check this place out. My only concern is there strict regime regards people working full time. I agree they should never be left, but responsible owners would obviously make care arrangements while out working.

We was looking for a dog because we have retired we have plenty of time to spend walking her. The staff are very friendly After a home check we took a little border terrier home call Boo 👻 she has a great life travelling the canals of England keeping the squirrels up the trees 😉

Went to fetch a dog but they noticed that it may be having pups felt gutted as was looking forward to bringing it home. Staff excellent friendly and concerned they will be in touch with us to let us know the outcome. We are still having the dog

Dropped off a donation of food, towels etc. They do a fantastic job here so if you can help in any way, please do. Be prepared to want to bring at least 10 dogs home.

Only went to donate £150.00 pounds that myself & my girls in the catering kitchen at our Primary School in Shelton had saved by putting a £1 each week in the doogie box the past year 🐶 plus a close Friend donated £10 to round it off to the sum of £150.00 👍 plus took some toys & blankets.... you have to make an appointment if you want to view the dogs. Ive given 4 stars because I didn't actually see any dogs that day except 1 staffie having his pics taken & he looked very well! These small rescue centres need all the help they can get, even if its just some food & blankets....every little bit helps 😊👍🐶🐶🌈🌈

Yes the city dogs home is a very sad place, but if it wasn't for people who take a dog on with out thinking it through.. place like this wouldn't exit. Great staff doing a amazing job..Meet Eddie my second rescue dog

Donated my little old man's stuff that was no longer needed, the dogs home was closed due to covid lockdown but when I pulled up to the gate's two lovely ladies came straight out and took my donations off me. What I could see through the gate's and fence the whole place looked very clean and tidy. I didn't see any of the fury residents but could hear a few barking. If I ever have another best friend I would definitely try the dogs home first.

There have been a lot of changes at the city dogs home over the years definitely for the better. The dogs are looked after and cared for really well their Facebook page is proof of the amazing work they do. Have been lucky enough to meet some of the rehomed dogs on walks and many of them are cracking little dogs rehomed with amazing people who always vow to re-home from the city dogs home! Clean, healthy and happy dogs here (or as happy as a dog waiting for its new home can be) always willing to donate food, bedding, towels, toys and treats to these guys.

I recently lost my little angel and realised that was it. Cannot have another. A terrible loss. I loaded up the car with dog baskets, blankets, dog food, a heap of toys, leads, brushes and combs etc and took them all to the city dogs home. Everything was eagerly welcomed and received. It filled my heart with joy to know my dogs possessions were left in a good home with kind considerate people. Good on yeah!

Much needed home for beautiful dogs. The staff are always so grateful and thankful for anything to help the dogs, no matter how big or small. They are really helpful and polite, although very busy, so give them time to get to you. Can't thank them enough.

We are looking for a dog to share our lives. This rehoming kennels are clean, staff are good and helpful. We were happy /unhappy to find that all the dogs that were suitable for us were already reserved, which means that they are going to get homes of their own. We will be visiting often until we find our dog 💖

We speak as we find and the staff were amazing with us. Home visit was the next day and we passed with flying colours. We have had Archie since January and he is good (when he wants to be). We were very lucky to have Archie and again I will say the staff were very helpful and gave us as much information as they could. The dogs are looked after amazingly , but I wish I could have all of them. Give the staff a bit of respect and they will respect you. Keep up the good work.

A well worth place to visit if you're interested and looking for a dog. All breeds of dogs that aren't wanted or abandoned by their owners. Kennel service available too. I got my dog from here and I was very pleased with the service and whole process.

Cannot quite give five as they are very mistrusting and acqusational when you take a genuine case for rehoming on behalf of someone else. BUT 10/10 for being helpful and kind when I wanted to adopt the dog who became my amazing best friend, he loved everyone and vice versa, who we have recently lost to old age.... So I hope to return to look for my new best friend once I'm allowed to travel re coronavirus 19 laws . Hoping to be as lucky this time as this one will be my last doggy companion because I'm getting a little old now so cannot see me having more than one more dog. Xxx love you all.

It's ok, however the information on the dogs does not say to me that they check what are the dogs trigger points or try and interact with them. Not the best of dog homes sorry. Rehabilitation is the key to a successful home and life for any dog in a shelter.

What an amazing job this place does for unwanted pets. Unfortunately some previous owners make it impossible to rehouse their dogs because they claim they are no good with children. I wonder how many times this is just their excuse to get rid of their dogs without feeling guilty.

Ten years ago, my husband and I went to look for an addition to our family. We found our beautiful kelpie-collie-alleycat cross, Trudy, who for the past decade has, and continues to keep our lives happy, humourous (and hairy). We couldn't recommend the place highly enough, and are enormously thankful for the service they provided us a decade ago, by facilitating our adoption of Trudy. If you're looking to adopt a new family member, and want somewhere local and reasonable to do it from, the City Dog's Home is (in our opinion), the place to go.

Lost our rescue dog in August who we had from the city dogs home 8 years ago... So decided to take a donation of food and have adopted a little jack Russel... Absolutely wonderful older little dog, staff were extremely helpful and gave us as much information as they could. Home visit was the next day and so brought the little chappy home. He is in good health and has been well cared for by the dogs home. Prices are very reasonable too and all goes to taking care of unwanted or stray dogs.. Please consider an older dog when visiting the home... Absolutely wonderful and just want to be loved. A big thank you to the staff, he has made a wonderful addition to the family.

Hate places like these as hate seeing dogs stuck like this, nothing against the place itself or the workers as they do an amazing job, just hate the situation for the dogs as a whole. Please take your time to have a look at the dogs home and try and rehome a dog please.

The dogs home actually opens at 11am-4pm not 10:45am as stated. Very friendly, clean home and many cute dogs available to adopt.

i have contact the business various times now, i have tried to volunteer here and also asked about walking the dogs which is possible at other rescue centers / dogs homes so why not this one? there must be a way around health and safety which is what im told every time i contact. I WANT TO HELP OUT HOW CAN YOU REFUSE HELP!
