Having adopted a working cocker spaniel puppy at the beginning of March, Emily’s lessons have been invaluable. We signed up to the WhatsApp service based on all the great reviews and its be well worth every penny. The advice is personal and based around what your dog needs and Emily is always quick to respond. Would definitely recommend!

Emily is so personalble and knowledgable, really easy to be open with without feeling judged, I felt like I'd failed the dog and she reassured me and immediately made me feel like we could fix any issues I was having with the dog, I felt she understood the dogs needs and mental state well. Emily gave me practical advise on things I could do immediately to make the dog more comfortable and the follow up training was concise and explained clearly so I could understand exactly what I needed to see from the dog to move to the next steps. It was lovely to recieve a follow up message to check how I was getting on with the tips she'd given & that showed she genuinely cares about the dogs (and owners). Emily from Clever Canines came to the house for a individual session. We have two very lively cockapoos, Ruby 2yrs old and Archie 14 months old. I had previously done two group dog training classes with Ruby. I found the individual session was much more effective as we were able to address the particular behavioural problems which we find difficult to cope with. Emily was friendly, professional and lovely with the dogs. She started by explaining why the dogs behave as they do (jumping up) and gave us instructions and demonstrations of how to change their behaviour. Throughout the session she was very encouraging to both the dogs and us. The session was followed up with an email which clearly went through all the points we had covered during the training session. Since our session with Emily we have noticed definite improvement in the dogs behaviour and feel that we now have the skills to work towards eliminating the unwanted behaviour. I would highly recommend Clever Canines and Emily to anyone who needs help training their dog.

I took my Husky to see Emily to try and build her confidence up around other dogs after she was attacked. Emily was awesome, very understanding and knowledgeable! We recently took our one year old dog Poppy to Clever Canines. Poppy has struggled with other dogs over lockdown due to the lack of socialisation and tends to become overexcited when passing by other dogs. Emily was extremely understanding and we arranged a one to one session the following week to try and address the problem. We met Emily in a quiet field and worked with a toy dog before moving on to working with Emily's lovely dog Douglas when Poppy had calmed down. Through the experience Emily was incredibly professional and understanding, and full social distancing was maintained throughout. The session lasted an hour and by the end of it Poppy was like a different dog. We received a very detailed write up and training tips after the session - we have kept up the training and have noted a marked improvement in Poppy's reaction. Overall I would highly recommend Clever Canines and can't until we are able to join group classes!

I got in touch with Emily through recommendation from the dogs trust. My 8 month old Labrador Monty struggles with being overwhelmed/ reactive on the lead and especially with other dogs - barking, lunging etc. We had an hour long session with Emily on how to improve his social skills and listening skills. Emily was professional and very patient - with Monty being my first dog, it really helped my confidence. The write up sent afterwards was thorough and had lots of pointers for us to work on. Would give Emily a million stars if I was able to!! Honestly the best experience myself and Toby dog have had with training. Toby gets fixated on other dogs/people and wouldn't listen to me. I noticed such a massive difference in Toby during our session. He was engaging with me more than he has done in over a year! Emily is very patient and uses positive techniques to help with Toby (and me) with his special ways 🤣 We already can't wait for our next session and looking forward to using the techniques learned today to hopefully make our dog walking and meeting other dogs more enjoyable!

I can't stress this enough, when you Google your symptoms online you get the wrong advice, we all know you should go see a doctor straight away and save yourself the stress. Emily is a far better resource than Google and her WhatsApp service has been the best money I've ever spent on my dog. Highly recommend!

Peggy, my 3 month old Cockerpoo and I had our first puppy training session with Emily 2 days ago. I was amazed at the progress made in just 90 minutes - I can now put Peggy’s harness on her without any struggle!! We are also now working on a training programme to get to accept being left on her own in her crate. Emily was patient, knowledgeable and very friendly and answered all my questions/concerns. I got in touch with Emily after enquiring with Dogs Trust about classes for recall for my dog. She's very friendly and is too distracted by other people so she is rarely let off the lead on walks. I had my first session with Emily yesterday and I found it very helpful. Emily is professional and made me feel at ease and asked me lots of questions of what I want to gain from the sessions. If anything I have more patience and confidence with training my dog now. She's learning fairly quickly and I have the confidence to go out and put what I have learned with Emily into practice. UPDATE ON DOTTIE Dottie has gone from being a dog who lunged and barked at virtually every dog she met to being a different dog. Dottie can now be let off her lead, her recall is excellent and she will either let other dogs approach her or she will approach them in a calm manner. On lead she is also vastly improved and is now a joy to take out both on and off lead. This is all down to Emily and I cannot thank her enough, she is so knowledgeable and professional and her training methods are excellent. I would cannot speak highly enough of Emily and Clever Canines Dog Training An excellent training session with Emily today. She is very professional and knowledgeable. The progress Dottie made in an hour was amazing, and she is well on her way knowing how to behave around other dogs. Emily explained everything clearly, and the reasons for doing things. By the end of the hour, my dog was interacting calmly with Emily's. I was really pleased that the training is reward based, and the detailed email I received is extremely helpful. Absolutely amazing guidance, information and training with Emily at Clever Canines. My 1 year old lab had lost confidence and was very vocal when we encountered people and dogs out walking. I emailed Clever canines and quickly had a response then a telephone chat to discuss things in more detail and a behaviour assessment was booked. Emily brought 2 of her own dogs to the session and they were introduced to Maya separately and when Emily thought the time was right. The hour flew by and I was able to see and understand the behaviour and the difference of using the techniques Emily suggested. This was followed up with a very comprehensive report of what we had worked on, what had taken place, things to look out for and how to progress and move forward. It’s great to have this information to hand and we have been practising daily and our walks are becoming less stressful already. Our extremely bright and energetic Labradoodle puppy is now 7 months old. We have been training with Emily since he was 3 months old and we could not have done it without her. This was our first puppy and we had no idea how much work was involved, but with the right guidance, it is so rewarding to see them learn and become confident and well mannered dogs. Floyd loves his training with Emily both inside and outside of the house and thanks to her we both feel safe when out and about, both on or off the lead. It is not just the outside world that has been conquered by this pup but small things in the house like ringing a bell to go out for a wee or chewing a toy instead of visitors makes such a difference to everyday life. He is of course a puppy and therefore a nightmare in fur but now that he is going into adolescence it is much less scary too know that Emily is there and we don't need to keep the re homing centre on speed dial. Emily herself is brilliant at what she does and is super intuitive and kind. I look forward to our training just as much as Floyd and in my opinion a puppy cannot have either too much love or too much guidance. Both of which he gets in abundance with Clever Canines. We were really grateful for Emily's visit. She was really knowledgeable and a fantastic help with our little yappy diva dog! She was very patient with both our dogs bothering her, and offered excellent tips on how to move forward with the problems we had contacted with (mainly constant barking with any noise or movement within the house or around our road). Emily from Clever Canines, came to our house regarding training for our two year old Labrador Leo. Leo is a strong lad who loves going for his daily walks but this can be an eventful time due to his love for seeing other dogs and the distractions that come about during our walk, Leo tends to pull towards the distractions, which leads to a non enjoyable walk for us and for him. Emily has been great at showing us how to get Leo walking better and at showing us great tips. After our first session we could really see a big difference in Leo and also for us having a better understanding on how to teach Leo. We also had a second session and used a ‘Fake’ dog and the aim of the lesson was to walk past the fake dog without Leo pulling us towards it. Emily was friendly and very knowledgeable when meeting her for our One to one sessions and Leo is looking forward to another training session in the future so he can enjoy his walks more and we can also enjoy taking Leo more with the confidence of him walking better and in a more controlled manner. These sessions have always been followed up with a email review on what we did with Leo, so then we are able to implement these training tips ourselves. I would recommend Clever Canines to anyone as someone who has used other trainees before and found Emily’s teachings the best experience and with the results you want. I honestly cannot recommend Emily highly enough! We've been doing her WhatsApp puppy training and her help has been invaluable as we learn to look after our first puppy. From proactively giving us training exercises and advice on routine to answering ALL kinds of questions as we face new challenges each day (e.g. how do we stop him barking at the microwave, how can we help our son build confidence with him). Our corgi pup..now 16 weeks old..is an aggressive biter..not puppy nipping. He has attended classes at Dogs Trust, who recommended Emily at Clever Canines for specialist help. Emily got to grips with Frankie straight away, and showed us how to deal with this nasty streak...she was great, really knows her stuff, kind and professional. It is only 2 days in, and we are trying to mimic her way of dealing with Frankie..I think we are getting the hang if it. Her followup email made sure we remembered the routine! Emily helped us with out 6 month old puppy in so many ways and we saw a difference in him almost instantly! She was positive and encouraging from the start and she helped us learn the best way to teach him to behave on the lead, to help him not be scared or over whelmed by passing cars and helped us with recall/training him to behave and not jump up when he is in open spaces/fields, as this has been a massive issue for us. Mostyn was a bit nervous at first, but the balance between gradual socialising and a mix of exercises left him restless to get on with things by the final class - we and him really enjoyed! The improvement in Waldo since following Emily's advice has been unbelievable. We have a five year cavapoo who is quite nervous with dogs she doesn't know, and recently has started lurching at certain dogs. We phoned Emily as it was making us very nervous each time we saw another dog approaching us. She was brilliant and gave us so much help and advice. She brought her two dogs with her and they were amazing, Mollie seemed to be quite happy in their company. She worked with us for a full hour, showing us what to do and how to deal with different situations. Our girl is quite a quick learner and I now feel far more confident when out with her. A couple of hours later we received an email from Emily noting everything we had covered that morning, and a list of going forward help and advice which is really helpful. We would definitely recommend her to anyone who has any worries or problems with their dogs, she's great.

Emily is very knowledgeable, passionate and caring. My Cocker Spaniel is nervous and vocal when he first meets strangers and other dogs - we had an hour lesson and although there is some homework to do (which is fine, I was worried it could never be corrected and was at a loss), she has given me the tools to help him become a happier (read: less nervous and not fussed) doggo. Clever Canines (Emily) came around to guide my wife and I how to train a 10 week old puppy. We had issues with the pup nipping our 2 & 3 year old children (standard puppy behaviour) and Emily provided way more tips and guidance than we expected. We have a VERY exuberant 9 month old Irish Wolfhound who missed key months of socialisation because he broke his toe. We are now paying the price and have had some very unpleasant run-in's with a couple of people because Bran hasn't yet learnt how to introduce himself politely, so I contacted Emily, desperate for help. Two things immediately struck me: Emily is very knowledgeable; she is also very patient. I immediately felt relaxed and knew we were in safe hands; this knocked on the Bran who behaved [almost] impeccably during his first session. Emily is very good at explaining what to do and, more importantly, why. She also knows what is likely to go wrong (and again, why) and gives excellent guidance on ways around problems. She also followed up with a detailed email which I carry constantly so I can refer to it, and has set, what I believe to be a realistic timetable towards our next meeting. I would strongly recommend Emily, and indeed have mentioned her to people already.
