Having bought two border collie puppies from Janet (because the first one was absolutely ace as a working sheepdog) and attended one of her courses I cannot speak highly enough of her dogs. Her professionalism and her top class care for all her dogs plus her unerring ability to match prospective owners with pups marks her out as a first class breeder. If I needed another working sheepdog this would be my first place to look.

I spent 2 years searching for the right breeder of border collie and when I made contact Janet was extremely thorough with the application process. After this I was advised on the next litter that was suitable for my experience and intentions for the puppy. I was happy to wait because when the appropriate litter arrived I was kept up to date of all the experiences the mother and puppies were having with pictures, video and Email. Janet knew I had experienced the breed before but because the puppy would be the first I had trained she was happy to coach me through everything I needed to know despite all the research I'd already done, she directed me to information or people to help me on my way too. Not knowing which of the three puppies I had expressed an interest in would come home with me, I was beholden to her experience and skill to assist and I could not have imagined a better match of dog and handler - Bert happened to be my first choice too. Since Janet allowed me to have my lovely dog, I have returned to introduce him to sheep on an Astra Sheepdog Centre Clinic. I highly recommend this experience to anyone thinking about working their dog for a hobby or as a livelihood. The course I went on was very mixed in experience and ability. We both used our own dogs and Janet's selection of dogs to suit the temperament and ability of the handler. I learnt a huge amount of theory and enjoyed ample opportunity for practical, made some likeminded friends, had a super time and Bert got to see Janet again, which he loved. I will be attending more of these clinics and commend them to anyone who reads this. James

I have known Janet Beale for almost 20 years, she was a great teacher for my very first experience sheep. I have always found her true to what she says., always happy to help with aftercare of any pup or dog bought from her.she rears her pups better than anyone I know rearing them in the house and giving them as much life noises and experiences in their first eight weeks with her. I have known her travel to take back a dog in the wrong hands and will ALWAYS take her young dogs back if circumstances change. Be prepared for a rigorous 'interview' if you want one of her pups, if you are put of then you are not seriously wanting a well bred pup and just go buy any farm bred ,non health tested pup. Janet cares deeply about her dogs and breeding as healthy as anyone can, yes certain illnesses can crop up as the breed can develop conditions despite rigorous screening . I have one of her dogs and she is the sweetest temperament and drive anyone would want in a pet or working dog.

We bought our puppy from Janet 2 years ago and she is so good, After speaking to janet on the phone and filling in a form she matched us to one of her puppy’s I am sure we could not have picked as well. We was able to meet both parents before we got Jess , if anyone asked me for a excellent BC breeder I always recommend Janet who has many years experience and health test her dogs

The best Border Collie breeder and Wow!... the Border Colloodles are gorgeous, if you're looking for that well bred special dog this is the place to go!
