I had done driving lessons before I met my amazing driving instructor Michelle. Previously, with my old instructor, I was 44hrs into the lessons and felt that I had gotten nowhere with my confidence in driving, which would affect the way I drove and understood the car, as well as being a safe driver on the road. I was set up for failure for my first test in another town and it lowered my confidence even more, to the point that I was avoiding doing driving lessons as a whole. I felt that no matter how much I would do driving lessons, I would always fail. However, after some conversations and encouragement, I wanted to begin my lessons again, but under a different school and driver. I contacted Michelle and told her about how I had terrible confidence with the car as well as terrible anxiety. I am grateful to have been paired up with Michelle, who has been a massive help in making me the driver that I am today. I knew from the first lesson that I had with Michelle, that she is the best driving instructor to be with so that I could not only pass my test but be a great driver, dealing with stressful situations. Michelle is super understanding, and caring, could tell she has the experience to help teach learner drivers who have anxiety, and a lot of patience which helped me to understand that it was okay to make a mistake, but also learn from those mistakes. She also had great communication skills, Michelle explained and demonstrated in ways that I found super useful and that made sense to me, therefore enabling me to progress and improve my driving. And lastly, one of the most important things that I find in a great teacher/instructor, is being able to be comfortable with them. Unfortunately, I was not able to be comfortable with my old instructor from another town/school, so I would be hesitant to ask for help or advice on my driving and what needed improving. Although, with Michelle, I was encouraged to ask her for help or advice, even as well as practising the same manoeuvres, junctions, and roundabouts, to a point where I felt confident in myself to do it independently. If you are someone like me that has struggled with anxiety when it comes to driving, or anxiety in general, then Michelle IS THE ONE FOR YOU! I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Michelle, who has made me into a driver that is safe to be on the road and enjoys driving now. Absolutely recommend her to anyone that needs a driving instructor and I will also recommend her to people that I know that need a driving instructor!

I was happy to have Mas Ahmed as he was calm, collected and his vast knowledge about how you can sharpen your driving skills. After waiting two years for a test due to Covid, I was finally able to secure a date but by then my instructor had moved out of the area and wasn't able to continue my lessons. Despite Mas being at full capacity, he was willing to take over and get me test ready in a week of intensive lessons. As I hadn't driven for over a year, I was worried I wouldn't get to where I needed to be in time but Mas has a great way of teaching and he introduced me to some techniques I haven't used before like commentating. These worked really well and I'm pleased to say that this morning I passed my test on my first try! I owe it all to Mas and I'm so grateful! Thank you for everything Mas!

Where do I start 🤔 michelle is such a great teacher the BEST I passed 1st time , Michelle is passionate in what she does it clear to see. She made me over come my fear of not stop and boy was I hard on the brake in the begining!!!!!. Intensive manual driving course with Mas. Passed first time !!! My instructor (Mas) has a patience of a saint, he will stick with you, again and again until you are confident in what you are doing. Having learned with someone else before ( let’s call it classic driving lessons ), Mas teaching was a breath of fresh air, in a way how he explains, and uses more modern way of teaching, all the little hacks and workarounds, which just allow you to free your mind and concentrate on driving. He is also flexible in shifting times around, so adaptive. He is also very persistent, and understanding that different people learn at different pace ! Also good sense of humor ! I am very happy with my lessons with Kabir. I did so many silly mistakes most of the lessons, even 1 hour before the test. But he was very patient with me, no shouting or anything which is a good thing to have when teaching a learner. And just a few minutes before my test, he reminded me don’t forget to check mirrors, watch pedestrians as you come out the centre and etc. Pass on my first test! Well done to him.

Just want to write a review for Mas, I passed my driving test with 4 minors today having Mas as my instructor. Mas has been brilliant since lesson number one, fitting me into his busy schedule as soon as he could which I apprecaite so much! Also working incredibly hard to ensure not only me, but all his students get the correct amount of hours, bending over backwards to get tests sorted out for students for last minute, working 7 days a week to fit everyone in! Planning out everyone's test and lessons cannot be easy, but you sir, make it look easy! As for my lessons with him, they've been brilliant, well constructed, organised, he had me book a test a couple of lessons in and then we prepared for it with each lesson covering all the topics needed to drive safely and pass. I've really enjoyed the lessons, you've been really easy to get along with, but you have been firm, which has really helped me improve my driving and get to a high standard over the last couple of months! You've drilled into me the correct knowledge I need and I feel I drive very confidently and that definitely wouldn't have happened without you, I think you have an incredible balance of being firm but also fun in a way of covering all the topics, again I have really enjoyed our lessons, thank you for being the best and helping me relax on all lessons, as I do get a bit nervous! I passed my test first time today after learning with Jay and I'm honestly not sure that I could've done it with anyone else. Jay is absolutely fab! He was always calm, funny and friendly whilst making sure I understood what I was doing and why I was doing it. He made me feel confident about driving even whilst 9 months pregnant with a wild case of baby brain lol! Truly couldn't recommend Jay anymore, definitely the best! So, this has been quite a journey. Hero was originally recommended to me by a friend and the reviews were amazing so I went for it. It's been over a year since I started with Hero and family problems, lockdowns and other issues have gotten in the way multiple times of my own learning (lockdowns in particular being problematic as we were forced to have several months between lessons at times). Despite this, Tarek has been an incredibly supportive, professional and enthusiastic teacher. He often went the extra mile, providing information that was not necessary for my test but would benefit me when I eventually purchase my own car, how to look after it and other tips and tricks to be a safe and efficient driver. Today, I took my first test - and passed! Obviously, I was as nervous as I could be but I took my time, remembered what I had learned and just imagined I was having a drive with Tarek in the passenger seat. I would personally recommend Hero Driving School regardless of what stage you are with your learning. I'm 30 and hadn't driven at all before, but as a teacher myself, I think Tarek would be amazing whatever age and experience you have and would do his best to accommodate you.

After reading reviews on google, I booked an intensive course. I was then asked to do a 2 hour assessment with them to work out how many hours I would need. My instructor ‘Mas’ took me out. He was calm, patient and very clear with his instructions. It was recommended that I book a 20 hour course over 2 weeks as I did have a small amount of driving experience. Mas was A great instructor. Very good at keeping me calm and focused, as I was having issues with over thinking everything. Today (09-10-19) I’m proud to say I passed my test with no faults. Tarek was my instructor, he was very calm, patient, and friendly. Although he is strict, he makes you feel relaxed while driving, which is a great bonus for your confidence. We practiced every single road out there, motorway, country road, rural areas, literally everywhere! This is extremely helpful as examiners surprise you all the time! I have a full-time job and time management was a big issue, Tarek showed a lot of flexibility to find me an available slot that avoids peak traffic periods, so you won’t end up wasting your lesson in heavy traffic. His car is a bonus too, not too big, not too small either, makes it perfect for learning and easier handling. Big thanks to Mas too, he found me an instructor in a few hours. Overall, definitely recommended.

I’ve just passed my driving test on the first attempt. Rashed is an amazing instructor. He had great encouragement, enthusiasm and belief in my driving throughout the few months of our lessons. The reputation Hero has as one of the best in Colchester is there for a reason. I had previously attempted driving lessons with other instructors but Danny has been the best teacher I've had by far. Top bloke and such a great presence to have in the car. Danny never loses his temper with his students and always makes sure each mistake made is a learning opportunity. He does an excellent job at making you feel relaxed when nervous. Honestly, the best thing I can say about Danny is that not only is he good at his job but you can tell he also really enjoys it too. My lessons with him were always filled with good humour and they usually flew by super quickly. Very punctual and organised, Danny understands that his students may also have busy schedules and is respectful of our time too - and always makes sure you get your full two hours. The car you learn in is great and an incredibly easy drive. I passed first time because of Danny and Hero. Thanks to Mas I passed FIRST TIME with only TWO MINORS! Before starting lessons with Hero Driving School I had never so much as started a car before. Hero driving team were very professional and responsive, getting back to me with a booked session with Danny only a couple hour's after my first inquiry on their website. Being a slightly older learner as well as an extremely nervous driver poor Mas had his work cut out to bring me up to standard, but that he did, with his excellent tuition I managed to pass first time. None of them have worked out for me but as soon as Mas answered the phone I knew he would be perfect. He is so passionate about what he does and he makes you feel comfortable and like you can achieve anything. He is very calm and let's you make mistakes so you know exactly how it felt and how to prevent it. The teaching style is so flexible meaning he is perfect for you no matter how you need to be taught. I had a few meltdowns while learning to drive as I can be quite hot headed when things don't go my way. But Mas was great and just helped me calm down and made me believe I could do it. I couldn't recommend a better driving instructor!! After my theory test ran out 2 years ago, I wanted to make sure I could drive now I have finished university and moved home. I took an intensive course of 20 hours across 2 and a half weeks, and I was so scared I wouldn't be able to do it because I hadn't been behind a wheel of a car in four years. Kabir from Hero is a fantastic, patient and relaxed teacher. After having a few lessons elsewhere with an inflexible instructor, I found Hero to be more than flexible for lessons and could always fit in with me. Unfortunately 2 of my tests were cancelled by the DVSA with Covid restrictions and then snow, resulting in me booking a test in King's Lynn and using my own car. I learned to drive with Rashed after having some awful experiences with past instructors and with learning manual. I decided to change over to automatic instead. In January when I decided it was time to get off the sofa and learn how to drive I never thought I would pass my test just 12 lessons (24 hours) later. This is 100% down to Danny's tutelage. Firstly the entire Hero driving team were very professional and responsive, getting back to me with a booked session with Danny only an hour after my first inquiry on their website on the 3rd of January (Impressive as i had been blanked by another instructor). From the first lesson Danny's attitude to instructing was very clearly a tailored and personal approach. At no point did I feel that he was simply repeating the same way of teaching other students. For example, we quickly established that I preferred to learn each new process or maneuver through a systematic approach. Once we understood that Danny took the same approach to teaching me each one (and successfully teaching me how to parallel park while I was jet lagged and on only 4 hours sleep was impressive). On a personal note Danny worked hard to get to know me and take an interest in my life, and make me feel easy in the car. We established a rapport and this helped to take away my nerves. This was especially important on the test day, where the support and reinforcement from Danny can't be overvalued. Despite passing first time with only 12 lessons, Danny did what was never asked of him but always implied - to teach me how to drive properly, safely, and at a high standard. Some other driving instructors may take a pass level maneuver and move on but Danny insisted I could perform them perfectly every time. Not only did this pay huge dividends on the test day, but has given me the confidence that I will take forward for years. I will no longer face Greenstead roundabouts with fear and trepidation, but instead go confidently, and know that in our beat up old car people will get out of my way (joking Danny!). To any learner who wants to pass their driving test, this is the school for you. I cannot recommend Hero Driving School highly enough. I was an incredibly anxious driver who was immediately put at ease by Mas initially and then by Rashed primarily. Both instructors have the same ethos of patience, understanding and the ability to adapt to their learner needs and the situation at hand. Rashed in particular has been able to transform me from a reluctant driver into somebody who now believes in their capability to drive. His simple, effective messages have allowed me to drive with confidence and understanding of what I need to do when I am on the road. If there was something that I did not understand, he would always revise the point with me at a suitable time and not be too excessive in the repetition if it. This resulted in me gaining a better understanding of what I needed to do without being overwhelmed. If one message didn't work when practicing a manoeuvre, Rashed would be able to explain it in a different way through simple, visual examples that can easily be related to real life. Even on my driving test, the simple phrase "Drive naturally," had the effect that helped me relax throughout. I am pleased to say that something that I thought previously impossible has been made possible because of Rashed and Hero Driving School.

Bumping into Mas is the best thing that ever happened to me. Having had bad experience with another instructor, I found it hard to breath in any moving vehicle, including buses. The doctor confirmed it was stress related. Every lesson with Mas was a therapy. His patience and calming presence worked like magic – my driving skills progressed very quickly once I could focus on the driving itself. Mas values time, both his and his students’, so he makes each lesson count. He memorized all my progress, weaknesses, and always made sure I learnt more. The lesson design was elegantly organised and progressive. Additional resources were always available. He cared more about my progress and had more belief in my abilities than I did. He knew what I need and the man is always right. Focused attention and consistent support were given in every lesson. The ‘Hero Mobile’ is always clean. Mas sees his car as office so makes sure it is a lovely working environment for him and his students - the 'neat freak' even has car washed before every test. You will really look forward to the lessons – sometimes you can’t wait to jump into the car, especially after a long day. Mas described himself as Thor, but he is more like Dumbledore – magical, competent, attaches to intricate details, has excellent memory and great sense of humour (lessons can be customised to different accents!). He is honest and never proud or vain, aiming to train the safest and most confident drivers. On the test day, Mas prepped me up well and made sure I was confident. He made me laugh – not an easy task but he wouldn't give up. The centre was full of people, waiting with poker faces. He briefed me every now and then as last minute reassurance, gave me the same old breezy smile and 'the look'. For the first time in my life I felt like I had a superhero standing next to me, that we were on the same team, and that we would ace it. I was nervous during the test but truly brave. You think your luck just turned around by reading the reviews? Trust me, you haven't got a clue about how lucky you are until the first lesson.

Was recommended Danny by my dad and I thought if my dad likes him then I would so it would be silly to go with anyone else. I can say from the beginning my whole driving experience was amazing! Danny turned me from someone who thought driving wasn’t for them to a confident individual, and taught me to drive on the roads as we would today! Each lesson was very productive and Danny’s attitude of ‘try till you get it’ really does pay off (especially for parallel parking!) I was never made to feel like I wasn’t good enough on the roads or embarrassed by the (countless) mistakes I’ve done and we always made time to analyse what we had did and how to make it better. He was very reassuring and always answered my questions no matter how silly and/ or repetitive they were and always put my mind at ease! Danny also has a great attention to detail and always helped and adapted to whatever I was struggling with Each lesson was always fun and insightful and he really did take the time to get to know you and it was nice to get to know him! It was like having a friend in the car with you which always puts you at ease, and it was really nice to see the pride he takes in his work. No. After being involved in a fatal car accident at the age of 17 i could not look at a car without having a panic attack. the night before my first lesson with heros...now at the age of 36...i had no sleep and must have been visibly shaking.
