I had lessons first with Paul and then when Paul switched to an automatic car I continued having manual lessons with Michelle. Paul is professional but also hilarious and friendly and this made me much less nervous than I otherwise would've been! I enjoyed every lesson with him. I had the majority of my lessons with Michelle who was brilliant. She was very calm - I became overwhelmed in one lesson and she helped me to calm down and did not rush me in the slightest. She was really patient in every lesson and let me practise manoeuvres as many times as I needed. Always reliable, friendly, and able to think of creative ways to help me remember things. Can't believe I passed first time as I was a nervous learner! But even on the day of my test Michelle helped me feel less anxious. She is great. I would recommend both Michelle and Paul without hesitation.

My instructor Beth was fantastic! The communication was great, she’s very accommodating to your schedule and extremely helpful. Prior to Beth I had another instructor who spent half the lesson talking, barely let me drive in my own and had me on edge/feeling anxious. I really liked my lessons with Beth because she gave me the opportunity to make mistakes and let me get on with it. I felt so much more comfortable driving with her which in turn made me more comfortable behind the wheel. And because of that I passed knowing that I would feel comfortable driving myself :)

I had done driving lessons before I met my amazing driving instructor Michelle. Previously, with my old instructor, I was 44hrs into the lessons and felt that I had gotten nowhere with my confidence in driving, which would affect the way I drove and understood the car, as well as being a safe driver on the road. I was set up for failure for my first test in another town and it lowered my confidence even more, to the point that I was avoiding doing driving lessons as a whole. I felt that no matter how much I would do driving lessons, I would always fail. However, after some conversations and encouragement, I wanted to begin my lessons again, but under a different school and driver. I contacted Steer We Go and told them about how I had terrible confidence with the car as well as terrible anxiety. I am grateful to have been paired up with Michelle, who has been a massive help in making me the driver that I am today. I knew from the first lesson that I had with Michelle, that she is the best driving instructor to be with so that I could not only pass my test but be a great driver, dealing with stressful situations. Michelle is super understanding, and caring, could tell she has the experience to help teach learner drivers who have anxiety, and a lot of patience which helped me to understand that it was okay to make a mistake, but also learn from those mistakes. She also had great communication skills, Michelle explained and demonstrated in ways that I found super useful and that made sense to me, therefore enabling me to progress and improve my driving. And lastly, one of the most important things that I find in a great teacher/instructor, is being able to be comfortable with them. Unfortunately, I was not able to be comfortable with my old instructor from another town/school, so I would be hesitant to ask for help or advice on my driving and what needed improving. Although, with Michelle, I was encouraged to ask her for help or advice, even as well as practising the same manoeuvres, junctions, and roundabouts, to a point where I felt confident in myself to do it independently. If you are someone like me that has struggled with anxiety when it comes to driving, or anxiety in general, then Michelle IS THE ONE FOR YOU! I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Steer We Go and Michelle, who has made me into a driver that is safe to be on the road and enjoys driving now. Absolutely recommend her to anyone that needs a driving instructor and I will also recommend her to people that I know that need a driving instructor! Thank You!

But I was not happy with my progress at all. After multiple failed attempts I switched to Steer We Go. Most definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made. I had Paul as my instructor, he was super amazing.You can honestly tell that he genuinely cares about his pupils. He is the perfect combination of nice and strict. Had I not taken his lessons I'd never knew i had so many things to re-learn. He was very patient with me as I had the habit of doing crazy things during our lessons. I could fill a book with all the nice things I could say about Paul and Rachel. My initial sessions were with Paul, who made me feel comfortable on the road as it had been a while since I had driven. He always made me laugh and reminded me to not take myself too seriously (but serious enough to stay vigilant on the roads, of course!). Due to my schedule, I switched over to Rachel, and she has been an absolute dream. I’m an incredibly anxious driver, however she made sure I was calm and collected throughout my driving and I always felt at ease with her. She gave me the confidence to pass my test and I’m so glad I met her. Passing my driving test was a beast I was convinced I couldn’t conquer; Rachel made sure I had everything I needed to pass and I went and did just that. Fourth time lucky! I couldn’t be happier with the experience I’ve had with Steer We Go, I highly recommend to anyone learning how to drive, *especially* for anxious souls like myself. I’m sad to no longer have my lessons with Rachel as I always looked forward to seeing her, but I know she’ll be helping another anxious soul to pass just like she did me. My daughter has just passed her test first time because of the most wonderful caring lady called Michelle, I cannot recommend this lady more! She always had a smile on her face, she was always on time, and ready to go. I started learning early April of this year, after booking in the middle of March (so very short wait compared to other places we contacted) with Steer We Go. Yesterday I passed first time with only two minors. My instructor was Rachel and she was great for many reasons. She was able to teach me driving at the right pace for yourself, so I felt confident with it but also that I wasnt wasting time during lessons or going over things that I had a strong understanding of already. I learned to drive with Paul. It took a while because of lockdown and Covid restrictions as well as personal events in my life however he was always incredibly patient and willing to work with me to make sure I felt comfortable while learning at a good pace. I am beyond ecstatic after passing on my first try at my driving practical test today, and with no exaggeration, I couldn’t have done it without Rachel, who is genuinely best and most patient instructor and individual I’ve ever met. I have had a total of 23hrs of lessons, but within the first 1st (2hr) lesson I’ve had with her, she has helped me build up my confidence, knowledge, and skills in driving a manual car in the UK. For background, I have previous driving experience driving (automatic) in the US, however, the road, rules, transmission, and the side I got used to driving on was extremely different, thus I was so worried that the habits I have developed might end up hindering my learning. But all throughout the process, Rachel has been so patient and honest in explaining and teaching me everything, so the things I thought I would find difficult (e.g. parallel parking, hill starts, manoeuvres, roundabouts, tight roads, etc.) became less and less intimidating to me until gradually, I became more confident. It also contributed that she literally has the most calm aura and is the most patient individual I have met and, not only that, she truly cares about seeing her students, such as myself, succeed which shows, and this is quite rare these days. This said, I really can’t thank her enough for helping me pass first time, and definitely would recommend her to anyone who is learning to drive or needs a refresher in driving. Thank you so much for all the help, patience and everything else. ☺️

He is very calm/patient and polite, yet, still effective at delivering instruction when needed. He is especially knowledgable with regards to the small intricacies of the local area which is very useful. I came to Michelle from a previous instructor so I already had bad habits, but this was no trouble for Michelle she tailored my lessons to how I learned best, facing each of my obstacles with me. I couldn't recommend Paul more if I tried! I passed my test first time with Paul in Clacton-on-sea today with only 3 driving faults. Paul was so calm and kind and always made me laugh. Robbie was the best instructor I could of hoped for. He kept me calm in all my lessons Robbie kept me motivated and was patient even on our evening drives when I was tired after a long day. We were also able to plan lessons according to my progress meaning I had exactly the right amount in the run up to my test. Robbie and I spent time making sure I was comfortable behind the wheel although I did not need to overspend on extra hours I may not have needed Overall Robbie was a kind, calm and fair instructor. I felt I wanted to put this review up to say that if you're thinking of going with Steer We Go, you definitely should, and especially with Beth. She's friendly, funny and calming and has really settled my nerves and showed me my potential when I was unsure if I'd be able to understand and navigate myself around a car! Been having lessons with Robbie since January 2020, Test kept getting postponed because of covid, eventually I passed yesterday with one minor, and can't say how impressed and please I am with Robbie as an instructor. He was patient, kind and always motivating and I couldn't have had a better experience as a very nervous driver! Highly recommended!!! I had not driven for over 2 years since passing my test, and needed some refresher lessons and quickly for work purposes. A 10hr block was split between Paul's car and mine. Paul is one of the most genuine and amusing guys I have ever met and that's especially good for a driving instructor as he was very informative and made sure i felt safe under his supervision as well as driving the car myself. Barry was a great instructor. Very patient and kind. As someone who is an experienced driver, who just moved here from another country, Barry was really good on what we spent time on. He didn’t waste time on things I already knew how to do, but we focused on things that I needed to brush up on. Even after I failed the test a couple of times, we would work on the things that I was marked down for and practice those again before I took the test again. It did take me four times, but I finally passed and Barry was with me the whole way!

Had my intense course cancelled last minute with my test ready and waiting, Paul managed to squeeze me into his busy schedule and take me out to assess me driving to see how many hours I would need to be at test standard, I had 3 days booked off work as I thought I would need 20-25 hours of driving, Paul said I would only need 5 and he was right and I passed!! Other driving instructors would have happily taken my money to line their pockets but Paul was honest with me and told me straight up which saved me A LOT of money!! Even though I spent a short period with him I learnt so much in such a short space of time, with support via WhatsApp in the form of you tube videos and tips and pointers in order to pass my exam, deffinatley going the extra mile!! Of course the banter was there as well which made the lessons even more enjoyable! Would highly recommend to any first time drivers or even drivers who want to recap on certain aspects/manoeuvres. He taught me more in 4 hrs than the other lady even would have taught me in 20hrs. Absolutely incredible service. My instructor (Robbie) was able to help me understand how to drive the car in a way I would best understand, and was patient and very friendly - easy to get along with and thankful to him for being able to pass my driving test.

Honestly hands down the best driving school in Colchester area I was with someone else before I learnt with steer we go and learnt hardly anything going round the same road every lesson then I decided to switch and have never loved driving lessons so much, Paul was relaxed, patient and funny , always making the lessons fun and enjoyable.
