Tim was a brilliant instructor and I would highly recommend him. Not only did he help me to pass my test first time, but I greatly enjoyed all my lessons with him. He clearly explained everything, was patient, and he was able to make me confident in my driving. Tim has taught me and my brother and we both found him amazing. I can't recommend Tim highly enough for anyone looking for lessons, whether it be as a complete novice or someone who has just relocated to the UK - professional and thorough yet clear and polite. As an 'older' learner driver working full time, Tim did his absolute best to accommodate my inconsistent diary which made learning much more feasible for myself. I received a cancellation test slot on 21st December for CHRISTMAS EVE, and Tim still very kindly squeezed in some additional lessons and the test. Very happy to say I passed with 2 minors! Tim not only teaches you to pass your test, but teaches you to be a good driver for once the test is passed. A great instructor as well as a great bloke! Cannot say thank you enough. All the best.

After driving overseas for 30 years, I needed a UK licence. Tim was calm, patient, punctual, extremely knowledgeable and affordable. Tim provided explanations to driving in the UK and took detailed notes at the end of each session. Tim was highly professional and encouraging. I had a good number of lessons with Tim Mountain starting from my very first ones in a car. These lessons were spread out over long periods as I was waiting for a driving test date, however his qualities as an excellent driving instructor meant I didn't come back rusty. What stands out is that Tim is also punctual and well organised, and clear learning objectives helped myself progress quicker. This structure to lessons really helped. While highlighting areas I needed to improve as I was close to my driving test, when I was a beginner he was aldi calm and patient. I would highly recommend Tim in the future and him having my best interests first helped myself pass first time.

I reached out to Tim on fairly short notice as I had a test booked and no instructor due to lack of availability across the board. From our first call Tim was extremely professional and considerate using any free slot he could find in his diary over a 2 week period to ensure I could be test ready! Our first lesson was an assessment of my current driving skill where Tim quickly identified areas which I needed to improve and we set about practicing those repeatedly. Tim is completely dedicated to his students and even added an additional lesson for me outside of his working hours as he felt it would make all the difference. I'm pleased to say after 6 2 hour lessons I did pass my test and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help and support from Tim, he told me he was a perfectionist and he was not wrong. I couldn't recommend him highly enough and thank you so much again for your help!

What an amazing instructor! Tim was willing to take on my nephew at incredibly short notice to prepare him for his driving test, which had been delayed twice due to Covid. He had been really let down by previous instructors and was having a tough time emotionally for other reasons, but with only a handful of lessons with Tim his confidence was boosted immensely and he passed his test. I still remembered how bad I did at the first time, and was really stressful thinking about the upcoming test (it's super difficult to book one, and would take forever if I failed). The iPad visuals along with the recaps before and after every class were essential to solidify all that he thought in the lessons. I had put off learning to drive for years, then decided in early Feb 2020 “this will be a a good time to start”. It turned out that, in fact; it was a terrible time. But at least I had found a fantastic teacher as I finally passed on my second attempt early Feb 2022! This isn’t to say that I needed two years to learn, or that Tim needed two years to teach me. I’m sure if Tim had any power over covid 19 he would have exercised this power as effectively as he has instilled valuable life long driving skills upon me. I can attest to this as a lot of our lessons were pre pandemic. One failed test, a few lockdowns and a gigantic waiting list later; I feared I would’ve lost all the progress I’d made. But thankfully even with so much time away from the wheel, when we got back to refresher lessons for my second attempt; it was apparent Tim’s method had done its magic. I can drive! Confidently! I learned to drive with Tim at A Star after being recommended to him by another well regarded driving instructor in the area. He is based close to where I live (near the Royal Standard) so it was a good fit. I never learned to drive when most other people do so - I left it until my forties - so I was looking for someone who would be patient and tolerant of my inadequacies. Tim is easy to talk to and the (many) hours I spent with driving with him were surprisingly enjoyable. He provided lots of useful tips and gave me the confidence to keep going when I felt I was never going to make it. He was always very punctual and communicative. And I really enjoyed driving his car! I passed my driving test first time 2 weeks ago with A Star Driving School! I chose to learn with them as I read very good reviews and knew someone who also passed with them. Tim as a driving instructor was always very professional and I felt confident and at ease having never driven before with his clear and effective teaching methods. Having had my test rescheduled due to Covid-19 and no lessons for over 4 months of lockdown, I felt confident to get back into the driving seat with Tim helping me gain my confidence back straight away behind the wheel. The precautions he took in regards to Covid-19 made me feel very comfortable with wearing face coverings, sanitising the car before I got in for my lesson and running through the Covid checks before we started each time. So glad I chose to learn with A Star Driving School and managed to pass so quickly even with the circumstances! Thank you Tim!

I had a very good learning-to-drive experience with A Star Driving School and passed my test at first go. The communication was always good and classes started/finished on time. In case of changes whether by me or the School, it was always easy and clear to communicate. The car, mini, was nice, clean, new and well looked after, and comfortable to drive. The instructor, Tim, is a very nice person to have as your instructor, extremely patient and calm and never patronising. He has a well thought-through methodology to the teaching starting with the very basics (and he will drive to a quieter area where you can start to practice safely), and gradually adding new skills (how to safely start/stop the car, to how to safely take junctions manor/minor, left/right turns, roundabouts, red routes, parking techniques etc.). I found the structure of methodology very helpful. He also covers the mechanics of the car, which helps at the beginning to understand the usage of clutch, brake, gas and the gears. In addition, Tim uses an iPad with a driving app to safely explain different scenarios on the roads. You will also do a mock test before the actual driving test, which is pretty much identical to the real one. It was very helpful in terms of feeling prepared and having an idea on what to expect. If you are looking for a driving school; I would recommend A Star.

Tim is a very professional instructor, my english is not very good, he was so patient, some times he has to use google translate to explain to me and make sure I totally understand, he told me some driving tips as well,he also use iPad to show me how to deal with roundabout,junction etc. His car always clean, hand sanitizer always there to use,always pick me up on time. he knows south east area very well, knows many test routes.he is not only teach me how to pass the test,and teach me how to be a good driver, because of him I passed my test at one go!

More than ten years since badly failing my driving test, common sense and the general ageing process, including finding myself riding my motorbike for fun far less than I did previously, motivated me to take another crack at getting a full car licence. I wanted someone local to Greenwich ( who would hopefully know the Hither Green test route, where I had failed previously) and found Tim at A star driving school on-line. I left a message and he called me back same day. He arranged an assessment session and declared he thought that 5 x2 hour sessions, including the test day, for a very reasonable £300 upfront would be enough. So basically I had just over ten hours in a car from 2007 to my test day. Tim is a friendly reassuring presence and comes with a nippy little upmarket Mini which is an excellent vehicle to learn in. Despite my nervousness, and my propensity to repeat mistakes, Tim was patient and professional and if you listen to him, follow his guidance and trust in his teaching process, including sending illustrations and videos to you to help when you are uncertain about a manoeuvre, then you will earn yourself a shiny full driving licence.
