S. W.I wanted to pass my driving test before starting a new job this summer so I searched for an intensive driving course in Norwich and came across Nordrive. Ian was very accommodating in our initial chats before I committed to the course, and he found a suitable week for me. I had done some lessons prior to the pandemic so I had some previous driving experience, but this was my first time behind the wheel in over 2 years. I was a bit nervous, but Ian really helped build my confidence in the driving seat over the week. He was very personable and cheery, yet professional and experienced. We built up to being test-ready over the course of the week, and Ian made sure to prepare me for both passing the driving test and being a safe and efficient driver going forwards. He was very patient and positive over the whole week, and answered all my questions and made clarifications when needed. I passed first time and now feel confident going out on the roads on my own. I would thoroughly recommend Nordrive to anyone looking to do an intensive driving course in Norwich.
I.After looking forever for an instructor Ian was able to fit me in for an intensive driving course, he was calm and made sure I understood everything that I needed to. I've had a few different instructors before and Ian was by far the best one. I'd 100% recommend him to anyone! He is so helpful and a marvelous instructor:)

I had driven previously but I wasn’t confident at all, I completed the 25 hour course with Ian and passed right after. I felt so comfortable with driving and knew the area so well after the course which massively helped with the test. There isn’t any pressure and it’s taught in a non scary or intense way which makes you feel at ease and more in control. If you’re looking for intensive courses in Norwich I can’t recommend it enough!

T. S.Ian is such a great instructor, he's really good at explaining everything, he breaks it down into manageable parts for learning what's needed and is a very calming when or if you get stressed. He has great way of making you feel comfortable in the car and allows time each for a little warm up before getting into the proper teaching which was always great. He is very proactive in sorting out tests and times and I believe the intensive with him is worth every penny. His sense of humour is a solid 9/10 with some room for improvement ;) Also I passed in the end so can't be too harsh. Nah he's class, would recommend.

C. H.I can’t recommend Ian’s intensive driving course Norwich enough! I did the 35 hour course as I was a complete novice and passed first time! Ian is calm and completely put me at ease. By the 3rd day I started to really feel like a driver and started to believe i had this in the bag. I always felt that ian wanted to make sure I was a safe driver and completely capable rather than trying to get me passed as fast as possible. His teaching style is manageable and you don’t feel completely overwhelmed with everything that needs to be learnt. If you’re looking for an intensive course in Norwich with someone who is calming, professional and a all round nice person, definitely go for Ian’s courses
k. e.Our son recently undertook an intensive driving course with Ian. We all found Ian to be an excellent instructor who made him feel at ease instantly! Ian has a great sense of humour and a relaxed style. He covered everything that our son needed to know to pass his test first time!
He even kept him focussed and relaxed when the DVSA cancelled the test in the morning and with Ian’s help we got him a test later that day but at a different test centre!
We would throughly recommend Nordrive and we will be using Ian again for our other son when the time comes! Within 6 weeks of our son turning 17 he past his test. Thanks Ian!

I seriously can't thank Ian enough he has an amazing teaching technique tailored to each student and makes it simple to understand. It's difficult to know what makes for an ideal driving instructor but Ian ticked every box. He is calm, patient and incredibly friendly, and has expert knowledge on what it takes to pass the exam. The vehicle is also perfect for a learner driver.
I found Nordrive through brilliant google reviews and I completely agree with the positive experiences of others. Ian, I can't thank you enough given I could barely remember which pedal was which on Monday morning.

Ian's reviews stood out for me as they all sounded brilliant and genuine. I phoned Ian and within that week I had an assessment lesson to see how many hours I would need in preparation for my test. Ian suggested 30 hours over 5 days.
Ian is a fantastic driving instructor, he has alot of experience and knowledge on driving. He made me feel comfortable and at ease which helped me to progress and learn. He made me feel confident as he showed a relaxed teaching method. Ian has taught many people and he still remembered my strengths, faults and areas that needed improving. He is patient, open minded and has a very good way of teaching. He is thoughtful and he really did help me to pass my driving test. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first driving experience and I cannot thank Ian enough for what he has taught me.

After failing my driving test several times before with a different instructor and then taking a 3 year break from driving, I had lost my confidence and was very nervous. But Ian instantly made me feel at ease and reassured me that I wasn't the only one to fail several times and get nervous.
What I found really good about Ian's teaching style is how he would explain everything in detail so I properly understood it and he really focused on building up my confidence and making sure I was a driver and not just a learner! I found it amazing how much I had changed as a driver over just a couple of days!

I contacted Ian for a 2-day intensive course to prepare for the practical. Ian is friendly, and patient and his teaching techniques were suited to me perfectly. I was completely at ease with him. He is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the rules of the road and very observant and I was very well prepared for the practical test, which I passed the first time with only 2 minors.

After a few years of on and off driving experience and mixed messages from other instructors I was very nervous about getting started again. I booked the 5 day midi course with Ian and from day one my confidence grew, each morning I'd get in the car feeling more like a 'driver' and less of a 'learner'.
Ian kept his cool and sense of humour when I got us into some slightly worrying situations and is the only instructor I've found with the right attitude and tips to get me going round roundabouts (my personal demon) as if I'd never been worried about them.
His knowledge of the road and other drivers is excellent, his teaching style is relaxed, un-regimented and friendly but professional, the course is brilliant value for money and overall I couldn't recommend Nordrive highly enough!

I had never driven properly beforehand and yet by the end of the first day I felt as if I'd been driving for much longer. Ian's calm and competent manner meant that I always felt comfortable and safe whilst driving with him and I actually really enjoyed learning how to do the things that had previously seemed scary (namely the manouvres and tackling roundabouts). I would highly recommend him to anyone who is considering taking driving lessons - he is simply a very good teacher and a very nice man!
S. H.I came to Ian with a lot of (bad) driving experience and baggage. Whilst I had plenty of hours under my belt, my confidence was shattered and that was what drove me (see what I did there?!) to choose Nordrive when I decided to get back behind the wheel. For me, I not only needed someone to actually teach me how to drive, but I also needed my instructor to double up as a therapist.
Learning with Ian not only developed my skills but transformed my attitude to driving. The initial week long course that I did was not only informative but hugely enjoyable. I didn't pass first time, or a couple of times after but this was through no fault of Ian and indeed a result of severe nerves that hindered my performance on the day. I have no doubt that when I took my first test after a weeks worth of teaching from Ian, that I had the ability to pass - it was only stupid mistakes that held me back.
Despite being a learner that needed much more work than most, Ian stuck with me and continued to book me regular tests and schedule in recap lessons beforehand. I passed on Friday and I can actually say I enjoy driving now. If you are approaching driving with terror and bad experiences (or even if you're not!), I would wholeheartedly recommend Ian and his tuition. He managed to work a miracle with me.

I passed on 2nd attempt with 4 minors after doing the 20 hour intensive course, first attempt was mostly down to nerves! Thanks very much Ian for making the entire process seem-less and hassle free. I had two instructors prior to Ian, having failed my test quite a number of years ago and never felt I had gotten past feeling like a learner, but by day two of the intensive course I made that transition from being a learner to becoming a driver, not sure at what point I just suddenly felt that confidence I had been lacking before. Ian is the first instructor to properly explain the manoeuvres to me and the most dreaded reversing round a corner I did correctly first time! He has a lovely style of teaching and I felt at ease on every lesson, I also enjoyed driving for the first time with Ian as an instructor. D. H.I contacted Ian about an intensive course with a few weeks notice and Ian made it quick and easy to get booked in. I did have some previous driving experience having failed a test 5 years previous, but still felt a little rusty having not been behind the wheel for 5 years. On the first day I was a little apprehensive, but Ian made me feel comfortable and helped me progress further than I thought possible in the first few hours. The rest of the course flew by and was an enjoyable experience. I past at the end of the week with only 1 minor which i was surprised at, but i put that down to Ian's teaching style and making me feel comfortable and confident in my ability. Having done an intensive course 5 years ago, I must admit that this felt totally different and much more relaxed. And importantly ALL the time spent in the car behind the wheel. Ian is friendly, welcoming and more importantly a brilliant teacher, I would highly recommend him.

Not only does he prepare you extremely well for the Practical Driving Assessment - I passed first time!! - he also prepares you for driving safely on the roads for the rest of your life. Where some instructors would skip areas, simply because they don't come up in the test, Ian ensures that everything is covered in order to make you the safest driver you could be. Having passed my test just a few days ago, I'm already looking to book Ian again for a Pass Plus course at some point in the near future.
Ian holds all the qualities you require in a driving instructor - he's safe and professional, but he's also good fun and easy to chat to - with a few top class jokes thrown in for free!!

Ian is very professional and as always really polite. My aim was to pass as quickly as possible before giving birth and Ian helped me to achieve exactly that! He was incredibly patient with me, when at times I thought it impossible to be, especially with me at the wheel (pregnat)! If I didn't understand things, Ian would make it simple by using his whiteboard and pen to draw it. Brilliant teaching methods, he explained everything so well and made me feel comfortable.
Not only a great driving instructor also a brilliant man who you can always have a laugh with.
I felt very at ease and comfortable with him. He's also a great guy to get along with and made me feel comfortable behind the wheel at all times.

Ian is a fantastic teacher, patient, clear and calming. He helped me overcome my nerves (and emotional meltdown!) and I passed my test with only 2 minors. What was different about Ian was that he wanted to teach you to drive, not just how to pass your test! He wanted his students to leave as a confident and comfortable driver, who are safe on the road. Most other driving lesson providers emphasise their pass success rates and give little thought to the safety of the driver once they set out on the road by themselves.
Ian clearly had vast experience teaching people to pass driving tests in more than just cars, and this gave him a unique ability to explain techniques and situations to you. He was very personable and understanding.
I have only been driving for 3-4 months but in that time, despite being on the road every day, I have not had any problems and driven abroad several times - even though I went to Ian with no experience and only 5 days to learn how to drive.

At the start of 2017 I found myself in the position to have to learn to drive with immediate affect for work. I hadn't been in a car for about 10 years and when I was in my early twenties I hated driving. I took the option of the full week intensive with a starter/getting the basics session at the beginning the week before.
Ian was so good we ended up moving my test FORWARD because he felt confident in me. And I passed. I cannot believe it- I didn't tell anyone I was doing it and I went from a non driver to a driver in a week! I felt like I had so much support and experience I actually felt comfortable driving in all traffic conditions, day night, rain, wind, rush hour etc straight away because we had done them all! I started driving the day I passed and I have driven every day since.
It's truly immersive and I think the most important thing Ian teaches you is confidence in yourself. I would say this course really suits people who put off driving for whatever reason when they were younger.
Ian was very fun to spend that time with, it doesn't drag and I felt really comfortable in his company.
Thank you Ian- I have become my company's delivery driver this year and have been driving a van now for 6 months. If you'd have told me that, after putting off driving for over a decade, I would be the driver at my company this time last year I wouldn't have believed you.

A. C.A few weeks ago I completed a five day course with Ian, ending with me passing my driving test.
When I started with Ian I hadn't driven for a few years, after having failed my test on three occasions. The failures led to a lack of confidence which were the reason why I was reluctant to start driving again.
So at the start of the week I was lacking in confidence really, and also uncertain as to how I would deal with the five hours of driving. But Ian was a brilliant instructor, and after day one alone I felt much better, and the five hours do go by very quickly, with a couple of breaks in there as well.
Ian found all the small and big flaws in the foundation of my driving, and helped to eradicate them in the fist day or two. The emphasis was all about becoming a driver, rather than just getting through one test, and so after a few days I felt like a driver and thanks to Ian's guidance passed my test.
He's a great instructor and I'd recommend him to all prospective drivers.

Very nervous at the start but within 5-10 mins you are having a laugh and you feel so much more confident with Ian and your own driving capability, I passed first time and all because of Ian instructing style. There isn’t any talk and do, Ian will take it into depth with his trusty whiteboard and show you how it should be done so you really understand what you need to do (make sure you bring along whiteboard pens for Ian as they will either be run out or he may of forgot them 😂). Very funny instructor!

I had been practising driving for about 6 months before hand, but Ian gave me a huge boost of confidence and it felt like everything clicked into place in terms of independent driving. He knows the test inside out and completely put me at ease. He made everything seem simpler and relaxed. From the first day we worked on making all the aspects of driving comfortable, learning all the manoeuvres and practising them everyday. We drove around test routes and practised 'semi-formal' driving to build confidence in driving with less or no assistance from Ian. I learnt so much and really improved my confidence in driving. After completing the intensive week it was about a month before I took the test again, with only one more 2 hour session the day before the retake- work, bank balance etc. That in itself proves that the skills you gain with Ian over the course of a week really last. He teaches things so that they make sense and stick rather than slip away over time.
Ian seems to have an intuitive awareness of where you are with your driving. He picks up on habits, approach and mindset and puts it all right during the transition from 'learner' to 'driver'. He is friendly, patient and actually quite fun to drive around with.
In terms of driving knowledge, everything was relevant and applicable and came with the rhythm of driving- It all flowed, rather than being sporadic barrages of facts and regimented rules or instruction without any real reason. I found it much easier to retain facts and drive well once I really understood why things needed doing.
The week seemed like a very daunting thing and I doubted being able to get to test standard in such a short space of time. I was dreading the pressure and intensity but there was really no need. Ian made everything so relaxed and the progression came quickly and naturally. Driving no longer felt alien and for the first time ever I found myself really enjoying it. I was sad when the week was over!
I really feel as though I hit the driving instructor jackpot. Could not have asked for more. Money well spent, and a lot less money than most of the other courses out there!

I'd dome some driving before but Ian is very good at identifying weak spots, while at the same time being very unstressed and easy going. So the time passed quite quickly. Also it's a good location - overall the area is not too difficult to drive in - and Ian knows all the test routes. Money well spent.

M. W.Excellent Driving instructor, began the week an absolute scrub, ended the week walking away with a pass certificate.
Ians approach is to begin with the basics and phase in key concepts and practices gradually over the first few lessons, giving you time to digest each bit before moving on. Towards the end of the week it all begins to come together and problem areas are easily identified and worked on. I was surprised at how quick the progression was using this methodical approach.
Ian maintains a calm and engaging atmosphere when instructing throughout.
D. S.I did the whole 6 hours a day for 5 days with Ian, and my practical test straight away. Now, if I was with my husband in the same car for 6 hours everyday 9am-till 3pm (me behind the steer) we would of ended up with a divorce! Ian is such an easygoing, perfect teacher on the road, not only does he memorise your mistakes day in and out, he figures out that you have developed a new error! He will know exactly what you need help with and in my case I had no experience whatsoever, and we progressed very well indeed! He explained everything so patiently, and time flew! I ended up as a legal driver so quickly! He did a massive favour to me, and I owe him for all his hard work! He is very kind, open-minded and allows breaks throughout the drive! They both enjoyed the lessons and in addition they found him to be very flexible, offering them appointments and time-slots to suit them, and all over a very short period: my first son passed within 14 days and the second within 10.
Both boys benefited from the car loan Nordrive offers for their tests, making the whole process stress free for me as the parent and hugely successful for them. Importantly for me now they are drivers I don't feel apprehensive when I know they are going to undertake a long journey.

T. K.Firstly, I want to thank Ian so very much from the bottom of my heart for such a great experience on one of his intensive driving courses! He was always calm, happy, personable, punctual, humorous, and above all, so very patient.
Having gone from having lessons 20 years previous, and having only a very vague recollection of what it is to drive (and quite terrified at the prospect), right through to being a calm and confident driver in a week; that is nothing short of a miracle. The absolute best thing is that I have been taught to be a conscientious, driver who can plan ahead and be ready for any scenario, not just capable of doing enough to pass a test. I really am so excited to be beginning a lifetime of driving and motoring being taught by the very best.
I didn’t pass first time, but that was a mixture of nerves, anxiety, and an error on my part; the second test came along and I passed with only 4 minor faults. In between, Ian gave me another session of practice so that I could make sure that I hadn’t fallen into any bad habits (I had been driving our car with my Husband at every given opportunity to keep practising the skills that I had learnt), and answer any questions that I had come up with in the meantime.
The week after the course I really missed our morning chats, our ‘half-time’ coffees, the immense feeling of progress that I felt at the end of the day, and the sense of being taught by a caring friend rather than an instructor.
I will certainly be doing the Pass Plus course next year, and am also considering the Advanced Driving course also.
Ultimately, you HAVE to pick Ian to learn to drive with! It will be one of the best things that you EVER do in your entire life!

E. J.I am so glad I chose to go intensive as I passed first time. The Tuition is top notch and was really helpful for the way I learn. The car was a really relaxing environment and everything was done with perfect timing so you were completely ready for the test. I would also recommend the initial assessment so you only pay for the hours you need.
