Brilliant test centre, after reading these reviews I was worried. But going to the test centre my experience was really positive. I had Melanie as my examiner and she put me at ease right away, I thought my nerves would get the better of me but she explained the test very well. The on the road experience was really good Melanie was talking to me and made the experience less nervy. The 5 stars are for the overall experience and for the examiner. At the end of the test I passed but Melanie also explained my minors and why it was important to just make sure that I try not to make them when I drive. Personally I feel that some of the reviews would be out of frustration for not passing. If you can take your test at this centre I would recommend it.

Finally I passed it! I really felt so bad first time as the examiner was rude, i tried to be nice with him but honestly i felt i will fail. I retake the test and had it this time with Stuart, this guy is really amazing and would do his best to make you feel comfy. My advice is please watch YouTube video and have a mock test with your instructor, ask him about the famous serious faults. I hope you all pass yours, it’s really great feeling. 3 stars as the building is really bad, and its car parking was very challenging. I hope my comment would help someone

I passed my test today. My examiner Jim, was more than perfect. All of the examiners seemed friendly and that they know their job really well and care about people.
I failed my test in Oxford first time, as I didn’t know reversing. Oxford is harder than Reading as there are more speed changes and more people on bikes.
Make sure you are a good driver when you come to the test and that you covered everything.
I drove for 12 months as a learner, few miles every week, took 20-hours, 10 driving lessons with AA, but did not learn reversing. A friend of mine spent time with me and thought me reversing and she still wants to take me out to show me and teach me. I could not find an instructor quick enough for the test.
Ask your experienced friends for advice all the time and always be kind in traffic, and protect the most vulnerable users, especially pedestrians. Ask your instructor to cover what you want, not necessarily what they think. Some driving instructors out there are amazing and holistic, but others might be mechanic and forget to cover everything. You pay them good money, be polite and ask them what you need, don’t be shy.
Another advice. Maybe you want to do the test in the hotter months. Usually things are easier when everyone is in a good mood.
Don’t get discouraged if you fail. You will pass it. The more you drive, the more you learn.
Please don’t write bad reviews if you didn’t pass. You might feel someone is rude when you fail, because not passing hurts and every word they say about your driving skills might feel rude to you, but it isn’t. It is your chance to learn and become safer and better on the road.
After you pass, stay on the left lane on the motorway. Don’t drive with 50 miles an hour in the middle lane. You are supposed to be on the left lane all the time, unless you overtake.
Stay safe!

I took my test 3 times at this centre, and passed last week. I wanted to leave a review to say that all three examiners (I had a different one each time) were professional, courteous, friendly and encouraging. I was dismayed at the bad reviews I read for this test centre when first booking, but I think a lot of reviews are left by people who are feeling frustrated, having just failed a test. Having failed twice here as well as passed, I would say I'm unbiased! The building is the ugliest thing I've ever seen, and the car park is challenging, but that's by the by. Thank you, Reading DVSA.

A bit late for doing the review but here I am. I had my driving test couple of weeks ago and my examiner was Darren, who was really kind and made me feel comfortable throughout my test. I passed on my first attempt and finally got my driving license after waiting for such a long time due to this lockdown and COVID restrictions.

I had a very pleasant experience in this test center. My examiner "Melanie" was very professional and calm me down as was very nervous. You can't believe how much such details could be important but I think I passed just because she calmed me down.
Thanks Melanie

After reading the reviews before my test i was very nervous about having a horrible examiner, however I had Stuart who was absolutely great and made me feel comfortable during my test. I was practically shaking at the start but he was so polite and friendly which helped the nerves go away and I passed first time.
Thanks Stuart!

I had a very good examiner called Alex, if you’re a nervous person like me and you where lucky to have Alex as your examiner, be very sure his voice will calm you down. I finally passed after many failed. Examiner Alex! God bless you 🙏

I had Melanie as my examiner and she was really friendly which made me feel at ease. I passed with only two minors. I would definitely recommend taking your test here!

I had Jim/Jym for my exam and he was the sweetest. Made me feel very comfortable and even tho i failed he really explained my faults. If i could have him again as my examiner id be so happy. Pretty easy route but really practice the roundabout as that was my serious fault. good luck x

I gave my driving test today which I failed 😢😔, however i would like to mention my examiner Sally she is very clam, kind, patient and a very generous person. Being a very nervous driver I was glad I had a good experience with a good examiner.
Passed my test, again a very good experience with Zack my examiner, he made me at ease and also made small conversations so that I relax while driving but do not loose concentration. I would surely recommend this test centre my experience with both examiner's was great.

Had a good experience with the centre both the times ( didn’t clear my test the first time due to a silly mistake that I made). What I would like to say to anyone going to give their test is know your stuff thoroughly and it’ll be a cake walk. The examiners just do their job, and from my experience both the times they were observing very keenly and were totally calm, made me be at ease and were definitely fair in their reporting.

I did my driving test today for the 4th time and i didnt expect to pass as soon as i saw my examiner which is originally a Indian lady that i have heard about from most of my Indian friends....They says she fails you without any good reason and as soon as I saw her i was thinking about my 5th driving test, but behold she was opposite of everything she was described as..
She was reassuring, never made me nervous, strike a conversation and that calmed me and relaxed my nerves. The others i have my test with only said their names and that was it through out the 40 mins test period .
Melanie, thank you so much for today, not because i passed but for your attitude during the driving test and your ever reassuring words....I now believed my Indian friends didnt passed not thats they were failed deliberately by you.

Passed first time with the apparent 'strict examiner' but because I drove well, he was impressed. Don't let these reviews scare you. Do what your instructor taught you and you will be fine!

Had an awesome test with examiner Colin, very relaxed and smooth going. There was no pressure and we just chatted for most of it. He was humorous and understanding making the drive much easier. Absolutely awesome. You will be very fortunate to get him. I would give him 10 stars if Google allowed!

I had a really good experience with all the examiners I have had over these last 6 months. They are all really friendly and make you feel comfortable when taking the test. Would recommend to all .

It was a great experience, I did in my car and went to ask them, if they can check my car meets the requirements, manager herself reassured me that physically it is fine. Next day, my test was taken by very friendly examiner. Definitely would recommend.

My daughter passed her today in Reading and we had heard about the negativity about Reading, well her examiner was a lovely man, put her at complete ease when he knew she suffered with anxiety. Chatted and joked to her the whole way through. I couldn't recommend Reading highly enough to take your test at. Especially if they know you have issues and are willing to help.
