Gary got me driving again after a traumatic Road traffic accident resulting in a right leg amputation and multiple left leg injuries. After a year and a half and trialling a few options I settled on left foot accelerator. Gary helped remind me how to drive, gave me the confidence I needed and I would highly recommend him.

Today I passed my driving test after 8 years of on and off learning with the help of Gary. I first started driving at 18 and took probably 50-60 hours of lessons, taking two tests and failing to pass. I then took about a 5-year break due to illness and found it quite nerve wracking to get back in the car. Over the next couple of years, I tried 4 different instructors, along with 4 manual cars, and nerves kept getting the better of me on the road – knocking my confidence massively. I kept moving my test date because I never felt I would pass or be road ready if I did. I got to a point where I felt like I was putting money in the bin, dreading every lesson, and that maybe I should accept I just couldn’t do it. I approached Gary because I wanted to have an instructor who understood chronic-illness and had patience. I wasn’t looking to pass quickly, I was looking to feel confident in my ability on the road and give an automatic car a go, seeing if that would take away some of my driving anxiety by not having the gears as an extra step. Gary worked with me to build my confidence and never made me feel in a rush. We took breaks whenever I needed, if I needed to cancel a lesson because of a flare up there was no judgement and he recommended videos for me to study at home. This matched my learning style well especially as I didn’t have a car to practise in outside of lessons. The car was smooth to drive and I picked up using the automatic quickly, meaning I could concentrate on the road ahead – it took away so much of the anxiety I had. After 15 lessons I passed with only 3 faults. Not just that but unlike the previous tests years ago, I arrived confident in my ability to complete the test safely (even with the normal nerves!). I would 100% recommend Gary if you’re looking to build confidence in your driving or are struggling with driving anxiety or long-term illness. Thanks Gary!

I finally (finally!) passed my test yesterday thanks to Julian's fabulous lessons, if anything I very quickly learned how to drive with a flooded interior thanks to my many spontaneous bouts of tears! Julian was patient as ever throughout the whole course, didn't make me feel judged or a nuisance at all, and is overall a very calm, wonderful, fun instructor. I can think of many little memory aids that will likely stay with me until the end of time, thanks to his teaching! Now, after years of intermittent lessons with different instructors in different cities, I can finally ditch the green provisional license after passing first time 😁 Cannot recommend strongly enough!

Brilliant Instructor! Amazing service, cannot express enough how helpful the advice given was in the lessons. Managed to get a cancellation test and Julian was able to change his schedule to fit my test date (was changed to very early morning with a days notice) very calm and relaxed manner, I was taught simple techniques to help with all the manoeuvers. I wish I could give more than 5 stars... after 5 driving instructors,100s of lessons, millions of pounds, trillion of tears, stresses and ' giving up' I found no gears no fear and suddenly with Gary's flexibility to lessons at times that suited me,. With Gary's understanding, no shouting, patient, no nonsense teaching I can finally drive with a passed test ! If your struggling to learn with other instructors due to additional needs (like me) or just being unconfidenent and needing so extra understanding I would highly reccomend No gears no fears ! Gary is the best driving instructor !

I find it difficult to maintain information , but Gary has the patience of a saint he explained everything in detail and if I didn’t get it he would swap seats and show me. Hes a lovely guy and managed to do what no other instructor that I’ve had over many years could , and that’s get me through my test and pass . I would highly recommend him .
