I have been working for Ellis since February half term. It was easy to get set up and I was working in no time. Ellis has a real passion for what he does. He works very hard in finding you the right kind of placement for both your needs and the school's needs. There is no problem too big or small for Ellis. Ellis is very proactive in his approach which means you more than likely have your next placement arranged before your current one ends. This is invaluable in ensuring recurrent income. I will certainly be recommending Thrive Education to anyone looking for supply work.

I have been working for Thrive Education since January 2022 and cannot imagine working anywhere else now. I have taught for over 20 years and have worked in many different educational settings. Working with Ellis at Thrive, is so different from my experience at other agencies. I started working with Ellis at Thrive at Easter. At this point, I had just finished my schools direct primary PGCE and U really was not convinced that I wanted to go into teaching full time. I knew I wanted to be in the classroom, but I didn't feel I was ready or able to apply for full time teaching positions. Thrive was recommended to me as a great supply agency, so I thought why not I'll drop them my application. I had my first chat with Ellis on the phone on a Sunday, whilst Ellis was driving to visit family. Straight away I was given a feel that it was me as a person that Ellis wanted not just another teacher to fill a gap. Ellis can talk the talk but he was able to set all my uneasiness at ease, and even told me not to make a decision right now but rather to wait think about it, then get back to him. Obviously I did. From that first phone call I went on to meet with Ellis (and his lovely wife) at the Thrive Office and official got on board to be a supply teacher. In the initial starter pack, I was given helpful tips and tricks, a handover form, as well as some quick resources to have up my sleeve! Ellis is personable and made sure to place me in schools that would best suit my skill set but he also made sure to ask me everything how I felt about the school before being placed there and during/after my time at the school. Thrive is a truly flexible and fantastic supply agency to work with. Everyday I wanted to work this term I have worked. After working with all ages from 2-12 in schools all across the area, I felt ready to apply for a full time teaching post (which is where I will be working in September). Without Ellis and Thrive I would not have had the confidence or belief in myself that I could be a teacher in my own right. I know should the need ever arise I will return to Thrive to continue working for them! Highly, highly, highly recommend!

I have 2 small children and have sometimes found juggling childcare and work to be tricky. For anyone reading this review and thinking of looking for an agency, but are very very anxious about it…this is 100% the agency for you. Ellis is not a normal agency in the best possible way. His motto of “placing professionals not just plugging gaps” is a philosophy- not an empty tag line. He will not send you to any old school. He will not harass you to take work. He will not “punish” you if you don’t fit in with your placement. Ellis genuinely cares about making sure your placements are right for you and the school. If you are honest with him (and yourself!) you will get the best from this agency. You will be valued, encouraged and listened to. I am loving every second!

At last an agency that listens and cares. I have worked with a variety of agencies during my teaching career both in London and Gloucestershire. They all set out to make money, they are a business and this includes Thrive Education. The big difference is that Thrive Education really is about more than just signing on the bottom line and earning a fee for agency and teacher. Ellis is a real person who actually lives by the ethos he enshrines in his business model.He promises to do his absolute best to match you to the right school that can really benefit from your particular skill set…and he genuinely fulfils on that promise! This concept comes as a very refreshing change from other agencies, that I have found to be less focused on what is best for you as a teacher, to really think what motivates you to want to go to school and make a difference to a child’s learning and instead tend to favour focusing on their company profits. He is always there to guide a support you and as others have mentioned here, he is excellent when it comes to school feedback, something that means a great deal after what can be a long week at the whiteboard! On a practical point.Thrive pay on time…EVERY TIME…now that really is reassuring to know!
