I joined CER in July 2020 after a 25 year career in teaching and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the agency. I was advised by colleagues to register with several agencies to secure more work, however, I have been inundated with placements by the agency varying from single days to half terms. I find the staff very friendly to work with and there is no pressure applied to take up a placement. I registered with the Newcastle branch and receive excellent support from Matty, my placement consultant. The pay rates are very competitive and the agency constantly offers CPD courses for professional development. I have taught all ability groups between years 7-11 ranging from one-to-one teaching to top set Year 11 and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience to date. I would certainly recommend CER when considering seeking supply work.

I have been working for CER for a number of years. I have worked with Katie, Natalie and Matty mainly and it has been great working with them. The team at CER are always very friendly and helpful. In the early hours of the morning when they are finding work for you they maintain a calm, polite and reassuring approach. Generally work has been constant and I enjoy the placements. I have worked for CER for several years now and have had very few days without work. All the Newcastle team are friendly and helpful, but I'd particularly like to thank Katie McDonald who has been brilliant at finding me long term placements within my specialist subject. I’ve worked for CER Newcastle since November 2019 and I couldn’t commend their professionalism and friendliness enough! I love my job and that’s largely thanks to Natalie and Jasmin! I mainly deal with Jasmin as I’m a primary teacher, and she has always had my best interests at heart, especially through the lockdowns and such tough times. I’ve also spent sometimes in secondary schools as general cover, dealing with Natalie and Matty - they’re both amazing and always look after me and cater to my needs. All the staff I’ve dealt with always check in to see how I am and how the assignments they give me go. If you’re looking for supply work at all, CER is the absolute go to place!

I have worked with CER since September 2020, I was worried about receiving work during the new academic year. However, within the first week of term CER has consistently provided me with excellent schools to work with. I'd like to mention in particular senior consultant Jasmin Davison, who has been an asset to the CER team. Jasmin not only finds the best schools suited to your working, but also cares about your personal situation and tries to adapt work around it. She is the most caring and considerate consultant who checks on you to make sure you are okay at work, but also in yourself, and it feels lovely to be cared for. Furthermore, I often receive notifications well in advance so Im not receiving unexpected rushed phone calls in the morning. CER is very organised and caring for its staff and supported me throughout the pandemic. I would recommend it to any qualified professional seeking work.

I signed up with CER during the first lockdown in May 2020. I have had a really good experience with both the Newcastle branch and the Darlington branch. Jamil in the Darlington branch was who I dealt with first, he was always so approachable. I have been doing agency work through CER for 2 weeks now and I can hand on heart say that so far... I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Michael is extremely polite and professional. If I’m unavailable for work some days, it’s not a problem. If I don’t want a particular placement, that isn’t a problem either. He has given me a variety of work and he trys to fill my days and weeks in. There is last minute work available too, should i be able to do it but absolutely no pressure if I can’t. So, as I’ve already said, so far, I’m exceptionally pleased with Michael and CER.

He was responsive, professional and looked after me well. I have now been offered a permanent position from the placement from CER. I registered with CER at the Darlington branch in March 2020. I’ve mostly spoken to Aaron from the Darlington Branch and have had regular updates/calls from him when schools have been open. The work is mostly always there if you want/need it and the office staff will do their best to get you work. Best part of all is that they pay the best daily rate in my area! Bonus 👏🏼

CER, which is one of the largest educational recruitment agencies in the north-east, with an outstanding reputation and track-record of appointments in the field, has developed a number of bilateral relationships with ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ schools in this region, which means that it has a volume of work available, full-time and part-time, long-term and day-to-day, which is the envy of smaller agencies. Therefore, without a doubt, CER is the best employment agency for teachers embarking on a ‘supply’ phase in their careers. In the seven years I have worked for CER at the Newcastle office, I have had direct, personal experience of the following ‘agency attributes’: a fast and efficient recruitment process; well-informed and frequently available on-line CPD sessions, which keep supply teachers up-skilled and up-to-date with debates and developments in education; prompt referencing of assignments undertaken at various schools on behalf of teachers seeking employment directly with schools or colleges or companies outside of education; immediate contact with a ‘live’ consultant, who is invariably friendly and sympathetic, during the extensive office hours (I have never once had to endure automated advice, voice-mail diversions or promises of a ‘call-back’ at the Newcastle office in the seven years I have worked for CER); a ‘guarantee’ scheme, by which a ‘guaranteed’ number of days per week will be paid, regardless of whether work is available, to teachers of proven capability and reliability; and, most importantly, the potential for a teacher to work from 1 to 5 days a week, depending on individual preference, for at least seven months of the year on the day-to-day schedule, with only a slight reduction in work availability in the remaining months of the academic year, while long-term assignments, part-time or full-time, whether for a term or the whole year, are unaffected by seasonal variation. Adam Turnbull has been my main consultant at the Newcastle office over the past two years, and I have never had a non-working week in this period. Adam, it has been a pleasure and privilege to work for you at CER: long may this relationship continue. I’m grateful for the opportunity to write this review, even though, as a result, I might have to share you with an increased number of other teachers in the future!
