Went shopping for my wedding dress on Saturday. The whole experience was luxurious, yummy nibbles and drinks, all the attention on you. Jenna was lovely and really put me at ease, helping me narrow down the choices and find what worked for me. Felt really relaxed and like you could take your time, ended up choosing the dress on my first appointment! Really excited to try it on again when my order comes in! Couldn't recommend them enough.

So originally I booked to have a bridal consultation here on a whim. The Wedding Shop looked simply elegant and the wide variety of designers and dresses on the website reinforced that, I honestly didn’t think that I would fit in and find anything that would match my personality and body shape. I was blown away when I first walked in, and was introduced immediately to my consultant Jenna who was very kind and friendly. My friend and I were taken upstairs where we were taken into a very bright and spacious private fitting room and waiting area with the 5 dresses I had preselected prior to my appointment ready and waiting. Jenna was extremely patient with me as I didn’t have a design in mind but had some ideas on different styles. It was very quick to see after trying on my first selected dresses that I had fallen in love with a firm favourite. Jenna helped with this by allowing me to keep going back to trying the dress on after I had tried on a couple others, just so I could make sure that my heart was in the right place on the favourite. Based on my likes and dislikes of other dresses, Jenna selected a couple more for me to try which were all equally stunning in their own way. However I could just not keep away from my original favourite! After trying it on for the last time, Jenna helped me to style it with different variations of vales and accessories to make the dress my own, it was clear that I had found the perfect dress that I hadn’t even known I was after. Very quickly after this, I ‘Said yes to the dress!’, and we toasted to the celebration. My measurements were taken and I was told about all the processes of ordering times, alterations and extra fitting appointments. Jenna took her time to thoroughly explain everything to me and she couldn’t have been more perfect throughout the whole process. Thank you so much to The Wedding Shop and especially to Jenna for being extremely patient and making my dream wedding dress come true!

Thank you to Jenna, Angie and Sophie who were nothing but amazing the whole way through - especially given the short notice to find a dress. Jenna was brilliant at helping me enjoy the process again and helping me work out what suited me. She was really supportive and friendly and never made me feel pressured, even when I alternated between my two final choices about 4 times. She even found me the most gorgeous veil to go with the dress. Angie was brilliant at both the initial appointment and the fittings. Due to the distance travelled, once I’d finally decided on the dress, she managed to fit me back in that afternoon to get started on fitting the dress. Then at the final fitting appointment, she really took time to explain to us how to put the dress on properly, how to store and transport it, and how to do the bustle. She was very reassuring and I really can’t thank her and Jenna enough. The Wedding Shop totally went above what I could have expected of them given the situation and they put all my worries at ease and now I can’t wait to put the dress on again!

I wasn’t able to go dress shopping earlier due to Covid restrictions and was worried about finding something I loved. We had been to five different shops before The Wedding Shop and hadn’t had an experience like this before, it was exceptional from start to finish. Jenna really listened to me and what I was looking for, understanding that at this stage I knew what I was looking for but just hadn’t found ‘the one’. I brought my dream wedding dress in May 2021 from the Wedding Shop 🤍 The whole experience was so memorable - I knew what dress I wanted and it was the only dress I tried on as I fell in love straight away. I cannot recommend The Wedding Shop highly enough. I went with my Mum and MoH and we had a great day! Everyone who helped us was kind and considerate and clearly knew all about their stock. There are so many different styles of dress available and - as someone who was initially very unsure of what I wanted - I felt guided and listened to in equal measure which was perfect. I am such a technophobe, so not great at leaving reviews but it was worth the effort to learn, so that I could give a massive shoutout to Nicola! I had my appointment yesterday to find the all important Mother of the Bride dress, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it! Nicola was amazing, listening to my likes/dislikes of colour and style and helping me choose an array of outfits to try on. I have to admit, I actually didn’t dislike any of the dresses that I tried on but I did find my dream dress and hat! The Wedding Shop was the first and only wedding dress shop I have been to! I visited just before lockdown in 2019, I was greeted by Angie who was so welcoming and lovely. I tried on a whole array of styles and designers, there are so many to choose from. The shop is beautiful, they have different props good lighting and lots of space for your party. Angie really is such an asset to the shop, she is so helpful with lots of advice and encouragement, we looked forward to every fitting etc at the shop with her. I live quite far away from The Wedding Shop but I knew the experience was going to be worth it. I had the privilege of seeing Kirsty for two visits to find my perfect dress. She was so kind and friendly. Kirsty's knowledge was incredible and she knew exactly what would suit me and make me comfortable. The most beautiful shop, beautiful dresses and helpful staff. Having to now change my review as I got my wedding photos back and just sobbed. The shop were meant to adjust my straps but in all my ceremony pics they have fallen down and look awful. I hate my wedding photos because the dress fittings failed. There is also bunching in where the shop said they’d take the dress in. The dress looks ill fitting. I spent so much on the dress and spent so much extra on adjustments but I wish I’d gone elsewhere now as I spent most of my wedding day pulling my straps up. There was also black threads left on the dress and even a hole! What a waste of money. I cried at the photos. We have our reception separately because of covid and I had to use body tape to stick the dress on. So upset. The shop staff themselves are great but the alterations team did not follow through.

The wedding shop saved the day!!! My daughter is getting married at the beginning of September & I really struggled to find an appropriate outfit for her big day. I am under fifty, size 16/18 & was looking for something ‘a bit different’ The usual high street stores just didn’t cut it so I searched the internet & found The Wedding Shop! I came to the wedding shop to look for my wedding dress. This was my first wedding dress experience so I was feeling a bit nervous. I attended on Saturday 21st August after being recommend this store by a family member. Alex was the lady who looked after me and she was lovely, very relaxed and professional. Before I arrived she picked out the dress which I wanted to try on from the online booking system, however we quickly worked out the style I was after trying on a few. I found my dress but felt I wanted time to confirm if it was the one. As there was no booking for a later appointment that day she advised I could return to retry if I wanted, I went to a cafe she recommended and returned and tried on my dress and said yes. As I walked through the door I was made to feel welcome. I am a plus size mother of the groom but this was not a problem. Suzie was so attentive and found outfits that would suit me. There was not a problem with how many outfits I tried on as long as I was happy. Suzie found my perfect outfit and I am so happy with it. They also offer an alteration service. What a beautiful place and such amazing staff. It was like dress shopping in Harrods. I loved it. The only thing I didn’t like was choosing dresses off photos online before the appointment and not being able to browse the dresses in person. Had I been able to do this instead of choosing off the website, I may have found the right dress. I felt I was potentially missing out by not being able to browse and choose while there. This meant I left without purchasing from there and went to another shop where I was able to browse the racks and see all the dresses. I found the dress I’m getting married in. I can’t fault the quality and luxurious surroundings of the The Wedding Shop and the staff, like I said, were amazing but…just the experience felt a bit too limited.

As we arrived at the shop the interior was simply beautiful, it had a London store feel but on a Essex high street! Loved my experience at The Wedding Shop. I went over a year ago for my bridal appointment and was amazed with the selection of beautiful dresses there and how helpful the staff were. There was no limit on the amount of dresses and the staff are very honest in helping find your perfect dress (which I did at this appointment). The communication has been amazing and Nicola went above and beyond in helping me feel at ease with my dress and was caring and understanding when we had to postpone. After 1 very upsetting wedding dress experience, 1 wedding dress purchased for a cancelled destination wedding, and 12 weeks until my new wedding day. I was feeling really worried and not knowing what to do. That was until I visited the Wedding Shop in Colchester yesterday. With very limited availability as my date is very near I could only purchase off the rail. Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to the Manager & Sophia for letting me have my dream dress. Twice I have visited this shop and both times have been amazing experiences. You both yesterday managed to save my wedding and I can not wait to come back for my fittings in July. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I bought a dress from you guys back in August 2020 and it's been a long time coming but the service that I got from the whole team was absolutely AMAZING!!! Rachael was the one that led my appointment. She was just so patient with me and gave me so much time even though once we finished I realised that I ran over my appointment time but at no point did I feel as if I was getting rushed to make a decision. In the end I walked out with a stunning wedding dress which I got to wear on the 12th June. I even got recommended a lovely seamstress to do my alterations as it was a off the hook dress and once again I couldn't have got anymore lucky. I am not usually one for posting reviews but my experience shopping with the Wedding Shop was by far the best customer service I have ever received so I felt compelled to share it. I saw the dress of my dreams to wear to my sons wedding on the web site but it was a size too big. Looking back to my daughters wedding my dress had to be sized up as it was so small made so I thought it would be fine. I ordered the dress and it came beautifully packaged in 48 hours as described. The dress was just as stunning in true life, unfortunately it was too big. I was devastated as this was the last one of its style on the web site. I emailed customer services on the Friday to let them know that I would have to return the dress as the intricate beaded bodice would make it too difficult to alter. Nicola from customer services emailed me back and was most sympathetic to my disappointment. Nicola advised that she would search through the stock just in case she could find another dress in the correct size and would email me on Monday. I really didn’t expect good news as the dress no longer appeared on the website as it was sold out. Nicola emailed me on Monday morning to say that she had indeed found the same dress in my size and that she would have it put on the website so that I could order it. I was over the moon and my daughter said she had never seen me smiling so much for years. I kept logging into the website but couldn’t find the dress. I emailed Nicola and she returned my email stating it could take a couple of hours so I just kept logging in but found nothing. I continued to check up until 9.30 but I thought someone else must have seen the dress and snapped it up. I emailed Nicola at 9.30 thinking she would pick it up the next day. Imagine my surprise when she immediately returned my email stating that there had been an issue with the website but that the dress had just been put on so I could now order it. I immediately went back into the website and there it was. I ordered it there and then, it came in 48 hours and was absolutely perfect in every way. The dress itself is such excellent quality and absolutely stunning and best of all a perfect fit. I really think that Nicola deserves an award for going above and beyond the remit of her job to ensure that I wasn’t disappointed. Nicola was so friendly and so understanding as well as being helpful. I can certainly say without a doubt that this is the best service I have ever experienced in my life and I cannot thank The Wedding Shop and in particular Nicola for making me so happy. Five stars isn’t enough to show howI rate this company so a very big thank you from me.xx

Wow! The only word I can think of to describe my appointment with the lovely ladies at The Wedding Shop week! The shop is just beautiful with an abundance of beautiful gowns. I chose dresses of my wish list and this is where we started. My consultant carefully listened to the conversations me, my mum and sister were having about each dress and started bringing other dresses over which she thought would look fab, and let me tell you they all did! If it wasn’t for her skill and knowledge, I would not have chosen my wonderful dress!!! All the ladies were so lovely, helpful and most importantly cared about you! As a plus size bride I was nervous about my shopping experience but there was absolutely no reason to be! I had the best time and more importantly said yes to my amazing dress!!! Visited for the first time today - and what an experience! Really well looked after by Alex, who went above and beyond to hunt out a dress she knew I'd love after trying on a few. Booking an appointment was free (not often the case nowadays!), really easy and a great touch with a survey to understand what you're looking for. Visited this shop twice. First visit was with Emma and I had a fabulous time trying on wedding dresses of all shapes and sizes. Narrowed my choices down to four and came back again a few months later with the Mums in tow. Second visit was with Sophia who was absolutely amazing. After being disappointed at other shops while looking for a plus size wedding dress I found the The Wedding Shop online, so I called and got an appointment for the next day. I had to travel over an hour but as I was worried I wasn’t going to find anything I made the journey. I visited the shop on Saturday 22ndFebruary with my mum. When we walked in we were warmly greeted by staff members and was then introduced to Rachael who helped me with my appointment. She told us both lots of information about the shop and what was on different floors. She asked relevant questions about my wedding and if I had tried any dresses on before visiting the shop. This was my first wedding dress appointment and I was really nervous, but Rachael was so calm and helpful and she led me through every step of my appointment and helped me choose some dresses from the different collections and also different styles that I liked but that she thought I should try. Rachael really made me feel at ease throughout the whole appointment, even when stepping into and getting pegged into the dresses to make them fit better and commented how nice it was for her to see my confidence grow after I had tried on a few dresses. She was so helpful in giving me advice on the different dresses and made the whole appointment fun and exciting. Rachael made everything possible whilst helping me with my appointment from dresses to veils and headpieces and nothing was too much effort. Rachael was full of knowledge about designers and listened to all the things I liked and disliked on certain dresses and then using that information was then able to disappear and reappear within seconds with a dress with all the requirements. I was so happy to have had Rachael as my first ever wedding dress consultant. She was really lovely and remained professional for my whole appointment. I felt more confident and at such ease and what I really liked was that I didn’t feel that there was any pressure put on me to walk out of the shop with a dress, however the one dress I did really like, Rachael gave me all the details and tips of how to find it online and welcomed me to book another appointment in my own free time at any point should I feel I would like to return to the shop. I had the most wonderful experience on finding my beautiful wedding dress. I recently bought a dress from another shop and wasnt happy with the design and waiting period . These ladies were only to happy to help me out with finding another dress in such short time. The young lady helped me into many dresses and was very patient on my decisions. I have given this shop the rating as I fwas made to feel that my purchase wasn't a priority, that it wasn't special (which to me it is). There was one lovely member of staff who I feel should be acknowledged. I purchased a dress for my son's wedding which cost over £600. I had to have a couple of alterations (extra money) on the neck and the netting/cotton which was hanging all uneven below the dress. When I tried to arrange a convenient time to pick it up I was told that I had to come at the beginning or end of the day as I had only purchased a dress. I did protest and eventually I was told I could come at 2pm! On returning yesterday to pick it up the alteration was as if it had not been done and there was no difference to how the dress was before. No member of staff referred or talked about the alteration or what had been done. Very annoyingly and disappointingly the netting and hanging cotton hadn't been fixed! I pointed this out and after looking at my notes the employee called the seamstress and mentioned what needed doing. I then mentioned that I had travelled 38 miles to the shop and hoped that I would be going home with the dress that day! After another phone call it was agreed that I could come back an hour later. There were no apologies. The dress was taken and that was it. I do want to say that there is one employee who was always very helpful, kind and polite. The other taller employee yesterday afternoon as I was leaving was sitting at the till with her head down on her phone and didn't acknowledge my polite goodbye which was a little awkward and made the other staff member feel slightly uncomfortable making her feel she needed to let her know that I had said thank you and goodbye. A head was raised and a goodbye was said. It's such a shame as I WOULD NOT recommend this shop to anyone now. Spending the amount of money I spent was a very major thing for my husband and I. Everyone who purchases a dress/outfit in any shop for such a special occasion regardless of how much a person spends should be made to feel that their purchase is special!
