Historical building on the outside, modern well presented on the inside, revealing some of its former grandeur big plush staircase, chandeliers. Staff all friendly and efficient, great space for various events, ideal for concerts, city centre location.
M. M.
Absolutely beautiful building. It has a cafe inside and it has additional seating.
I went in to visit the craft fair but the stall holders wouldn't allow pictures to be taken of their products.
It is beautiful inside though
D. B.
Pleasant evening with Brian Cox promoting his new book Putting the Rabbit in the Hat. Signing afterwards was a bit disorganised but got going eventually.

Pop up martini bar with food and pancake cafe. Interesting choice of cocktails and food. Definitely recommend giving this one a try and certainly try the food as it was absolutely amazing and definitely undervalued. 100% try the food

Multipurpose venue for exhibitions and conferences and, indeed, festival performances. Gorgeous architecture inside.
J. M.
The craft fair was excellent and the cafe well run with pleasant staff and tasty snacks.
L. B.
Incredible venue, we had a conference here and the staff were all great and it was the perfect venue for the conference. Very grand and beautiful. Worth a visit just to see the incredible space. Well air conditioned on a hot day and lovely toilets.

Had a fantastic night, my son had to ask mommy are we in a dream😊He was mesmerised with all the different acts from the talented primary schools in Edinburgh. Fab hosting, good atmosphere & lastly well done to St Cuthberts RC school for making us proud😊.

Very first visit to this awesome venue for an audience with Bruce Dickinson on Friday 20th October, and I was very impressed. Hopefully not the last time I visit here
K. A.
AR is a very nice event centre
M. R.
I came here in December for the 3D2D Christmas fair, which is on the first weekend in December each year. Well worth getting along to visit it if you can. They fill both of the beautiful halls with over a hundred Artists, Makers and Designers.
The rooms upstairs are beautiful. Well worth going just to see the chandeliers.
D. G.
Middle class pub crawl tasting all the gins from everywhere, cocktail class and a masterclass in gin making. Was drunk before 1pm.
R. H. C.
Wonderful place to host an event
M. R.
Great place for amazing polish stand up event

Absolutely stunning example of the beautiful Georgian architecture that we are blessed with in Edinburgh. Glittering glass chandeliers bejewel the main ballroom where I spent many a raucous and riotous evening at celidhs and gigs over the years. The main theatre also brought back many fun memories of the many many times I have laughed at and been amazed by the Amazing Bubble Man during the festival. On this occasion it was a work presentation but the surroundings proved suitably professional for this purpose too. An absolutely gorgeous and truly versatile jewel glittering at the centre of Edinburgh's Georgian splendour.
M. R.
Excellent venue right in the centre of the city. Two large spaces for various events from conferences to trade shows and live music.
T. A.
The Assembly Rooms are meeting halls in central Edinburgh, Scotland. Situated right in princess street near george street.Venue was amazing, staff, especially the receptionist was so helpful to everyone she was brilliant. This Georgian building is built to provide space for entertainment in Georgian Edinburgh. Beautifully restored and frequently used for events especially the Edinburgh Fringe festival. There is a Jamie Oliver restaurant on the ground floor.Incredible venue, we had a conference here and the staff were all great and it was the perfect venue for the conference. Very grand and beautiful. Worth a visit just to see the incredible space. Well air conditioned on a hot day and lovely toilets.
R. G.
Great surroundings and friendly staff....well worth the visit!
M. K.
I attended its ballroom a few days ago. Unfortunately, I could not experience the venue in all its glory as it was just for a comedian show and there was a makeshift stage and seating with curtains all around. But nevertheless, it did look beautiful, I couldn't help but notice the ceiling with its chandeliers.
B. W.
The main room we were in for the show was great, and the whole venue just feels like a really good mix of old and new. Crowd was terrible, but it was the last show of the 5 day run so eh
R. J.
Insomnia Bar was fab! Great customer service and the drinks were fantastic!
E. J.
Had a good meeting at the Assembly rooms, but annoyingly accidentally left my macbook charger at the venue following a side meeting. Realised on the train home, but a quick call to Anne at the venue and it was helpfully retrieved. Alvaro the venues event manager then posted it to me free of charge. Really excellent service and lovely to go to a well run place where the staff cared about making a visitors experience great. Thanks again to the both of you. Ed
M. R.
Lovely place with a character for a Scottish experience, it's located in the centre, serves decent drinks. The good was a disappointment for me, particularly the desert, however I had so much fun with traditional dancing that it didn't matter that much.
D. C.
We went to see Mark Steel during the Fringe. Handled the crowds for multiple shows very well - but that's the work of Assembly Productions. I went to one other event earlier this year which were less impressed by. Thus the stars
L. O.
I attended an event here and the main hall looks stunning. It has totally been refurbished and it is sparkling.
There is a Jamie's Italian restaurant in the ground floor and a diamond shop.
Multi purpose venue for Theatre, comedy & weddings.
J. M.
Great Tide Lines gig at the Assembly Rooms. Part of Burns and Beyond event.
A. G.
The space is very large and well organized with friendly and efficient staff. I went there during the fringe festival to see "the choir man, an enthralling and energetic show. During the Fringe Festival, the assembley organizes the best shows in my opinion.
k. f.
Very nice old building with some nice history and very good for events.
M. H.
Excellent venue for conferences. The renovation work is exceptional 👍
P. H.
Visited the Assembly rooms for a function recently. Great atmosphere and surroundings. Shame the experience was spoiled by an appalling bar. The function started at 8pm, but by 9pm they had run out of lager. By 9.30pm they had run out of the other draught beers! Surely to god a place like that should have better bar management than that considering they knew to expect more than 600 people.
Another thing....Why do places like this think it's a good idea to stock just questionable craft beers. They are an acquired taste and certainly after speaking to many others at the event, all were agreed that the beers were not to their taste! Please cater for the man on the street and not to the hipsters!
Bar management need to take a good hard look at themselves!
M. R.
Katie Melua and the Gori Women's Choir were wonderful. The Music Room is a beautiful setting however this must be one of the most uncomfortable theatres in Edinburgh. Granted we sat in the Upper Balcony where they have squeezed three rows of seats into what looks like a space large enough for two! Once the people in the row in front take their seats their seat backs move back leaving not nearly enough leg room for those sitting behind. It was noticeable that a significant number of people left in the interval prior to the final act.
A great night of music marred to sn extent by such ncomfortable seating. It would be helpful to advise people booking in advance of the limited legroom.
R. B.
I was lucky enough to see miss hope springs here at the fringe festival. Had a great time and was such a good atmosphere. Miss Springs was amazing
j. s.
Good night at the abba tribute night
A. M.
Visited the Assembly Rooms during the fringe great venue for able bodied people, but with me being disabled in a wheelchair the facilities in the rooms were adequate but only four stars as there were no areas in the venue itself for wheelchair users.
O. K.
Nice enough venue, the rooms aren’t huge but they don’t need to be. Clean bathrooms and helpful staff.
It’s a pain in the backside to get parked near here.
A. M.
Great venue with beautiful decor throughout. The staff are very friendly too. Attended during Fringe, the staff and crowd control measures were excellent.
R. E.
Attended a few events here whilst in Edinburgh for the fringe festival it is a great venue puts on a brilliant show.
J. T.
Went to hear, and see, Stewart Lee today. He is quite frankly a cantankerous conundrum. Great entertainment and his bating of half the audience was very clever.
The venue is streets ahead of all the other venues in the Fringe. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful and the the facility is beautifully presented. Unlike the Hive in Niddry Street which should have been renamed the Dive specially for the Fringe. Ironically I went to see a show about a whistleblower but I was unable to find anyone or anyway to lodge a complaint.
R. R.
Georgian building built to provide space for entertainment in Georgian Edinburgh. Beautifully restored and frequently used for events especially the Edinburgh Fringe festival. There is a Jamie Oliver restaurant on the ground floor
A. H.
Great place for holding events at a strategic part of town in Edinburgh. As a muslim, i was very grateful that there was a prayer room available. Puts to shame places like geo Sunway in Malaysia for a rubbish prayer room by contrast.
M.
Great venue and decor inside.
S. T.
Recently refurbished venue, housing a diamond shop and Jamie's Italian. Used to be aback building so spectacular rooms and space inside and amazing ballroom, perfect place to spend Hogmanay.
R. H.
Had a couple of visits here during the 2015 Fringe. Good seating layout means great views & acoustics in a large theatre.

Stewart Lee: A Room with a Stew
Tuesday 18th August 2015
The Assembly Rooms (music hall) 14:00
Like Lee’s self-confession, I too felt like an unwelcome guest of a new social class. I harked back to last year and the rightly condemned show Lee had attempted and I braced myself for a long afternoon. I’m glad I was wrong. This might have been a work in progress, but as Lee announced “You should feel privileged to be witness to an artist at work”. Lee confessed his want to test out two new routines, with the intention the material be involved in his new TV series later this year, which will be well worth the viewing. Being a test, there were areas of raggedness and uncertainty, but Lee (a 20 year veteran of the Fringe) knows and is a master of tying up loose ends, everything has meaning, so even the most forgettable moments or lost jokes are not left behind. “Remember the 90’s, when I was funny?” Lee asked the crowd. Methodical, progressive, abstract, stimulating imagination, multi-layered anecdotes, all adjectives I think of when recalling Lee’s style from that era and again here today, this was Lee back to his (almost) prime. Lee clearly knew he had neglected these aspects of his approach last year and brought them back with a vengeance this time around, with the added momentum building complaint that evolved in to a full blown rant and a fourth wall break.
This was indeed a room with a Stew, but this was a show all about his time and his understanding of it, with an undercurrent of moral, fatherly suggestion; don’t worry, everything has a reason. From the second Lee started looking at his watch to allocating minutes to routine, to his trips down memory lane, his current state of financial security, to his perceived doomed future….and beyond, all the time berating self in comparison and deflecting this negativity on to the unfortunate chosen area of the crowd. Rounded off with what I perceived the cleverest twist he could have hoped for; the tragic irony that all this time his own perceptions of himself have been misunderstood.
A. R.
Beautiful venue at a great location ans brilliant for the Fringe. The chandeliers are divine. They are huge and beauriful and add a touch of class.
W. B.
Was working there had a good shift
C. M.
Nice architecture, ok venue. Bit old school inside. Location is what gives it 5 stars. Hard rock cafe is 2 mins walking distance. Princess Street 5 mins.
C. S.
I visited during the Fringe, it's a great venue, the building is very nice too, the staff were very helpful and friendly, despite no doubt having to answer the same questions all day for a month.
I. O. S.
I was here for the Kilo sale and it was great! Loads of fabulous vintage clothes, the hall was big enough for how busy it was and it was easy to find.
L. N.
Gorgeous venue and they did a great job splitting out the rooms for the fringe festival
C. S.
Shows here can be good, but the seating is very cramped. If you are close to 6 feet tall, be prepared for a very uncomfortable experience.
J. W.
Absolutely beautiful inside, plenty of space which was well looked after. Great venue for wine tasting.
I. M. M.
An amazing venue for your special events. All facilities are very clean. Lovely staff!
S. B.
Amazing location to have any event. I was here for a craft fair but I'd love to see other events here in the evening.
C. M.
It took me forever to find parking but the venue was spacious and nice. The price point, not so much
d. h.
Not sure what the Assembly Rooms used for the rest of the year (I think more for Uni and business conference centre) but, during the Edinburgh festival fringe it's used for varies theatre acts recently met the former Blue Peter Presenters and Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy was there.
J. J.
Excellent venue. Bar efficient & staff friendly & helpful. Would like to visit again
B.
A great venue during the fringe - everything is excellently organised. Only has a bar, no food on offer like at Pleasance and Underbelly.
