I can't thank Gemma enough for the alterations she made on my wedding dress and my bridesmaid's dress. From the start, Gemma was so friendly and easy to get on with. Throughout the whole process she always made sure I knew all the different options I could go for and would give her professional opinion to ensure I had the dress of my dreams. Despite having to move fittings due to covid, Gemma made sure my dress was ready ahead of schedule, keeping me in the loop along the way. On the day I received so many compliments on my dress and felt amazing all day. If you're looking for alterations for your wedding dress, look no further!

Gemma managed to beautifully alter my wedding dress from Wed2Be. It was quite a task as the dress had to be taken in 12cm at the bust and she completely restructured the top half so that it didn't gape and the entire dress looked like it was made for me. She also added a bustle for the first dance that held up well and created a custom cape for me that was complimented throughout the day. Absolutely fantastic seamstress, the dress was incredible after a few fittings with Gemma.

Gemma did an amazing job of altering our outfits to make them perfect for the wedding. From the moment I took them in, right up to when I received the finished garments, the service I received was friendly and professional. Gemma understood exactly what I wanted and kept me informed of progress every step of the way. My dress was so comfortable on the day, and the sash Gemma added to the flower girl dress matched the other bridesmaid dresses perfectly. The little matching bow ties Gemma made for the page boys and the baby waistcoat were incredibly cute and the children received many comments on the day about how nice they looked. It was lovely that they were able to match the rest of the wedding party. I would definitely recommend Gemma and will use her services again in the future.

After trying on countless dresses up and down the country I eventually found Gemma. She came highly recommended by a friend so I went to the initial meeting slightly worried my dream dress didn’t exist. Gemma was amazing. She took a note of everything I liked and sketched up some options. A few fittings later we had a dress – the perfect dress. Her talent and flair designed and created a classic and elegant gown that I had only dreamed off, and I felt incredible on the day. Every fitting with Gemma was easy and she is just such a lovely person. I was almost sad to collect the dress after so many months of working on it together. The Gemma Sargent team did gorgeous, timely and competitively priced handiwork on my second hand Maggie Sottero Phillipa dress. The lace needed hand-picked and resown to be taken up, and was done exquisitely! Bodice repairs and new bustle were done to perfection, the handmade sash really finished the dress, and I really looked forward to each appointment - not just to see and wear my dress, but as I enjoyed the company too! My only regret is not finding Gemma Sargent earlier: the team design their own clothing and accessories, so I would have loved to worked with them on my wedding day accessories too. I wouldn't hesitate to send anyone to them, for tailoring work big or small. My dress is so much better in looks and condition after 8 weeks of the Gemma Sargent treatment! They have genuinely added value and beauty to my gorgeous gown :)

After searching through bridal shops for weeks and not finding what I was looking for, I met with Gemma and after the first meeting knew that Gemma could make it happen. The end result though was even better than I could ever have imagined! The work and detail put into it was incredible. I went to see Gemma to have a bespoke headpiece made for my wedding. On visiting Gemma's studio I was blown away with the quality of detail and materials available to create something really unique. I went with ideas and Gemma helped me mould them into a design that would really suit my dress. She is very patient and has a marvellous eye for detail. The headpiece she created had a detachable caged veil that allowed me to wear the piece all day without altering my hair - perfect. I would definitely recommend Gemma she is very talented.

Last year I got married quickly due to my father being terminally ill. I therefore had a tight budget and had to buy a dress quickly. The dress was too big and needed altered. Gemma was amazing! Fitted me in to her busy schedule and reassured me she'd have my dress ready within the weeks I had. Gemma is so lovely, accommodating and made me feel so much at ease. She is also truly amazing at what she does. She downsized my dress by 3 dress sizes. She also changed the shoulder straps. My dress was unbelievable!! And I looked amazing in it. I wore my dress in October last year and then again last weekend when we had another blessing in Spain. Everyone commented on how beautiful my dress was. Just before we went to Spain I showed my husband the original dress and he couldn't believe it was the same dress. He was so shocked at how beautiful the dress is and how much detail Gemma had put in. The services of Gemma Sargent are awesome! Fantastic results with a friendly service that really did have that personal touch. I needed some alterations to my two wedding dresses, a western dress and a red Chinese dress. From the first call, I was filled with confidence that my dresses were going to be taken good care of. I described my requirements and they knew exactly what I was talking about and how to put it right. They took my details and worked backwards from my wedding date to make sure they could fit in the initial consultation, a first fitting and the final pick up. Gemma's studio is located centrally in Edinburgh and there is plenty of parking at St Margarets House. The studio is pretty cool with some samples of work on show. Gemma's colleague, Sam, took care of me and my dresses. At the initial consultation, I tried on everything and explained my requirements. Sam pinned and noted with swift precision as she explained how she was going to alter the dresses. At the first fitting appointment, I tried on both dresses again with the alterations made. Both were done brilliantly, even the intricate beading of the Chinese dress was no problem. The final pick up was with Gemma a week later where the dresses were also given a final steam. I was impressed with the level of talent, expertise and passion that both ladies had for what they do. They really cared about the finishing fit, the importance of the job and your big day. I was blown away when they started discussing the intricacies of the fabric cut and how it behaves etc. They really do look at the smaller details, things that I hadn't even thought of. They treat their craft as a science, whilst providing such a professional and personal service. An enormous thank you to you both.

They helped me to deal with the evidence required for a refund from the company and then carried out the work on my dress so it was perfect on the day. Gemma's team (especially the lovely Sam) did an amazing job with my wedding dress. They designed straps to match the gathered detail of the bodice, creating a beautiful 'v' shape at the back. They also carried out alterations to take in the bodice and put in a bustle which showed off the buttons down the skirt and stayed up after hours of dancing. Sam was friendly and professional, giving me great advice and fitting my appointments around my hectic work schedule. St Margarets House isn't the easiest place to find but it's very much worth it! Gemma and Sam are a fantastic team, providing first-class design and couture work and in a timely fashion. I have used them twice now - once for my wedding dress fittings and the making of a lace bolero to match for the big day itself, and again for couture work on my wedding dress after the event so that I can use it again for reeling. They were patient, insightful in knowing what it was I was actually looking for (despite my dreadful attempts at explaining what it was that I had in my head!), and brilliant at communicating to me throughout the process, timescale, etc. so I always knew where I was. All this was only topped by the work itself. The dress and bolero, and subsequent dress modifications that I went back to them for, completely exceeded my expectations. Not only did my dress fit like a glove, but the bolero was exquisitely well made, with every attention to detail given, and exactly to my specifications. I couldn't have asked for more from this great team. Should the opportunity arise I wouldn't hesitate to go to them again for any design or couture work. They come highly recommended!
