Reviews of House for an Art Lover
S.
House for an Art Lover is a special venue especially for a wedding. I recently attended a wedding at the House of an Art Lover and the staff where excellent all day and night. The venue is absolutely beautiful especially on a wedding day. The food throughout was great and it seemed everyone enjoyed their meal. I believe they have tours on so I will be going back up to get the info on the history of the venue and maybe see some rooms we did not see at the wedding.
S. F.
Amazing place, so lovely with simply the most stunningly beautiful Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired decoration & designs.
We were there for my nephews wedding it was a fabulous day in gorgeous surroundings.
If you are looking for a wedding venue in Glasgow then honestly go and have a look I am sure you won't be disappointed.
Wedding food was well catered, and delicious. The downstairs where the band was, was a little small but then you can't have everything and you didn't really notice it after a while.
Make sure to book a taxi in advance for carriages at midnight!

This place is spectacular, whether you're a Macintosh fan or not. And only 7 quid to get in, bargain! What I wouldn't have given to be one of the people asked to recreate his dream house. It's been done wonderfully. Great info on both him and Margaret McDonald. Thoroughly recommend.
N. H.
House for an Art Lover is one of my favourite places to visit in Glasgow. The House itself is just divine. We were lucky enough to have our wedding ceremony and reception here and to have the opportunity to see the inside of the house at night time felt so special. It takes on a whole other life.
On our Big Day, the staff were wonderful, our fully vegan menu was to die for and received endless praise, even from our non-vegan (and often skeptical) guests!
I would definitely recommend this place for your wedding. Excellent value for money. Wonderful memories made.
C. H.
Fantastic tea room for high tea. The chicken breast was fantastic and the potatoes too. The salad was good too. We will return! I took a tour of the house in 2008. I remember it being fantastic too. Loved the symmetry and the simplistic artwork.
S.
Breathtaking architecture with exquisite art collection. It is an interpretation of Charles Mackintosh's drawing, completed with the great essence and features of the talented architect's/artist's work. I'd highly recommended to visit this great masterpiece.
The ticket is inclusive of an audio guide that provide insightful details to the house and the former life of the architect's/artist's and his wife.

Top quality venue for any special event.
What a spectacular building to have the privilege of hosting a celebration of Love and Life with our dear family and friends.
I don’t know where to begin to thank the House for an Art Lover team for hosting one of the best days of my life! The joy in the building was palpable. Guests and the team!
First class in every way. From the speedy initial response to my enquiry; the flexible and accommodating guidance and help to design the day; meticulous attention to detail that made the day run like clockwork; quality of food, drink and setting; relaxed approach to children enabling them to have such fun in a beautiful setting and last but not least a team that were clearly as excited about making this a special day as we were.
There is nothing I would change about their services, the venue or their people. It was perfect. So much so I want to do it all again! Maybe in 10 years time 😃
A. P.
We came here for the wedding of our son in July. What a fabulous venue. So beautiful both inside and out with staff focussed on making the day run smoothly and easily. Great attention to detail ensured everybody had a fabulous time and the whole event was stress free. Thank you everyone
G. L.
Was excited to come see the venue as it looked so romantic in photos! In person it is pretty, although the gardens are a little bit chaotic in my opinion. Did not get a chance to go into the house since there was a private event there.
R. M.
Attended a wedding at the venue was amazing. It's an incredibly historic building, celebrating the life of a wonderful designer.
The venue itself is a beautiful setting for a wedding & the staff were really helpful & mindful.
S. H.
Had lunch here today. Full menu for Christmas. Food is absolutely fabulous and well priced. 3 courses £26. You will not eat better for the money.
P. O.
My wife and I had the PERFECT wedding day at the House for an Art Lover. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and the staff was on top of everything, all the time, from the organisation process to the very day. Couldn't recommend more!
W. B.
Fantastic 1990s built house and room designs to Charles Rennie Mackintosh instructions from 110 years before.
J. Z.
One of our sons married here years ago and we were delighted to visit its cafe to restraint our selves with its charms.
Stylish clean bright warm and welcoming.
While we were there there was an interesting mix of tourists and largely older locals all enjoying lunch. It was quite well filled but had a happy and unhurried ambience.
The waiting staff were very personable and even friendly in typical Glaswegian style.
The adjoining gift shop was fun and managed to divorce us from a tidy amount of our cash.
The main building is an absolute icon of smart style.
Go and enjoy it for your self.

Unfortunately they were preparing for a wedding on the day that I visited, so didn’t get to fully enjoy the house. Though I did get a slight reduction on the price of the ticket, which I appreciated.
Love the history of the house, and really admire the dedication and passion of all those who brought this gorgeous work of art to life.
Definitely worth a visit, and I’d highly recommend visiting the café for one of their delicious cakes too.
P. M.
We hired the private room to celebrate our Mum's special Birthday. Sarah was amazing during the planning stage and on the day. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was amazing. Perfect place for your special celebration.
L. a.
Absolutely fantastic experience if you love art and architecture. Definitely my favourite national trust place. It is so beautiful and the staff are amazing. Also try the soup in the cafe as it is homemade and delicious x
B.
Such a gorgeous wedding venue for our friends!
N. T.
Amazing building with good audio guide. Excellent cafe that is good value. Park has good walks and is a must visit if you are interested in Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
A. L. G.
We had coffee on arrival, excellent. Then upstairs to a wedding, totally organised faultless. Then downstairs to a disco what a versatile place.
K. m.
I didn't get chance to get in as it was closed to public by the time I got there. Will be back this weekend though and going by how beautiful the gardens are managed I'm looking forward to seeing inside. Looking at some pictures other people have out on and they are stunning. A lovely house and lovely gardens with park and ski course on same grounds. Also a few mazes and other attractions. Great day out for family's of all ages. Something for everyone.
F. M.
In for a bite of breakfast, on a wet day. What a great cafe
T.
Not as a wedding venue, we came to dance tango at the Glasgow Tango Christmas milonga. A lovely venue on a crisp, frosty clear winter's night.
R. M.
Attended wedding reception here and it was absolutely amazing. Was lucky enough to view where the ceremony would take place as we made the cake. The rooms upstairs are beautiful, as is the outside including artwork in the garden areas. The café was transformed for the evening reception and was a nice size with a good dance floor that proved popular. Would recommend as a visit for the architecture, but would REALLY recommend it as a wedding venue!
S. B.
We recently had a very pleasant Brunch with our family sitting out on the terrace. We have visited House for an Art Lover on many occasions and have never been disappointed with the food and service. The Staff are always very friendly and helpful. Even after all the difficulties with Covid, their standards and service are hard to beat. Would highly recommend.
T. O. G.
Listening to the audio tour, it's a little off putting just how navel-gazing it became. IMHO they would have been best advised keeping the soundtrack punchier and more concise. I'm a CRM fan but it really bordered on the ridiculousless. Way, way much too narrative and waffle and not enough punch. Less would be more in this case.
As regards the building itself, the Music Room & terrace are stunning.
M. F.
Just shot my first wedding here on the weekend just gone. Absolutely outstanding place. We had the best time. The staff were unbelievably helpful and generous. My couple had the time of their lives. Cannot say enogh good things about the place. One of Glasgows finest weddings and conference spaces without doubt!
G. A.
Une expérience incroyable ! Seeing a house fully built after plans left by Mackintosh was amazing. The attention to details is great and the whole building is stunning.
Take your time walking around the different rooms to appreciate the details and the work done there. When you're done, you can also check the kids' park behind the house or take a walk in the surrounding areas. You will not me disappointed !
I. M.
If you want to see Rennie Mackintosh creations this is the place to visit. Fantastic big house in Bellahouston park Glasgow. After you do the tour why not have lunch a great menu to choose from.
L. L.
Really interesting designs. Good value. Worth seeing.
R. R.
Beautiful building and wonderful staff. Probably the best wedding I've been to and also great to visit the café and gardens.
F. D.
Absolutely exceeded our expectations, stunning flavours, lovely surroundings. Would recommend for a wee lunch or a full meal.
J. L.
Lunch was excellent. Busy. Can be noisy because of low ceiling. Nice staff. Toilets excellent.
A. M.
Beautiful building to host an event, great service from staff. Gorgeous grounds for taking pictures. 10 out of 10
B. M.
Attended a wedding here. A great place for an event. The food was very tasty. The grounds were impeccable and the service was wonderful.
If I was going to have a small party or event, maybe less than 100 people, I would definitely give this place a go.
P. M.
We were lucky enough to have our wedding reception there in the late 90's and went back at the weekend for a family party. Its just a really special place, the staff could not do enough for you and the food is absolutely fantastic....even after all that time it's not lost any of its sparkle and is a credit to CRM.
H. M.
A beautiful building serving wonderful food with amazing staff. The pricing is fabulous too for a place that's a tourist attraction, they can often be a rip off. I did find very little on the menu to eat, however being a vegetarian with a dairy intolerance I'm always going to be hard to feed. The menu was easy to read though and ment that I got to indulge in coffee and cake whilst the wee one snacked on a bowl of fresh fruit ... Often I find kids fruit just to be aapple and grape but this wash fresh berries and orange segments and she loved it. Thank you.
A. S.
Went for a talk and dinner and didn’t have time to look around properly.
The house looks impressive from the outside with lovely gardens and sculptures.
Dinner in a high ceilinged room with more art works. Would have liked more time to look around - hopefully on my next visit to Glasgow.
J. D.
Interesting and lovely house. I enjoyed my time here, and learning about the process of creating the building was fun.
Worth visiting if that's all you have time for, but if you want a much more detailed and personal Mackintosh experience, take a trip to the Hill House in Helensburgh. That one was actually lived in and has many more small thoughtful touches that make it a far more valuable experience. By comparison this feels a little more sterile, like a showroom instead of a real home.
G. T.
Fascinating house built 90 years after the competition for which the designs were submitted!
R. R.
What a beautiful place to visit. Surrounded by Bellahouston Park, this fabulous house shows Charles Rennie McIntosh at his best. The music room is particularly stunning. Entry fees are very reasonable and include access to the neighbouring heritage centre and gardens. There's also a lovely coffee shop /restaurant on the ground floor. For those with mobility issues, there is a lift to the 1st floor. I'll certainly be returning soon.
B. C.
Beautifully built in 1990 and furnished to Macintosh's original 1900 design and a credit to Glasgow. We'll worth the time to visit the house and park if you are appreciative of his architecture
D. G.
Great venue for a company event. Excellent staff and service in lovely surroundings.
A. F.
Great cafe/restaurant. Breakfast was good. Coffee nice and strong. Staff hellpful
A. W.
This art deco mansion / cottage type house set in splendid gardens within Glasgows inner city park greenness that is Bellahouston Park contains an exhibition to the esteemed Glasgow artist Charles Rennie McIntosh spread over several rooms, it also boasts a tea room. I am not sure if this was open when I was there, as it was only me wandering around, but worth a visit
J. B.
An amazing place. Reminds me of how the School of Art used to be in places.
F. T.
The entrance is a bit unassuming and feels hidden, but once you find the way in it's quite nice. Been there for a meeting, the catering was plenty and tasty. Would recommend. Surrounding park is well kept as well.
A. G.
We had latte and cola. It was a great coffee and beautiful place to sit and chat, so relaxing.
L. B.
Great food, really acomidsting of food allergies and kids, staff were very professional and friendly. Food good
S. W.
Was here to attend a wedding. Some staff were friendly and approachable, others not at all.
S. W.
Beautiful house. Accessible information. Delightful staff. Well worth a visit.
J. R.
Drove down from inverness for afternoon tea celebrating my friend's birthday. So welcoming and nice. Were happy to take a little cake that I brought and bring it out with a lit candle on for me. Food was delicious definitely worth a visit if you are ever down Paisley way
E. B.
Beautiful location.
Staff staff seem very tired.
16:20 an order for a takeaway gets picked up by a lady sitting outside.
16:22 I ask where to place my take away order and sit outside on a sunny afternoon, on my way home from work.
'we are closed'
I now know they shut at 4.
I'm sure it didn't take 20 mins to make the one coffee before me though.
J. T.
Fabulous to see the Mackintosh designs recreated here.
A. C.
Beautiful venue, good size. Only downside is during the day the staff were a bit absent with the bar so as a guest you had to stand waiting for quite a while before someone came by. Which wasnt great.
W. D.
House for an art lover is a nice venue for a wedding or just for a trip to the cafe.our ceilidh band, the Jiggers play there regularly too. It's set in the beautiful grounds of Bellahouston park.
w. h.
Attended a Wedding there on 28/9/18. Atmosphere excellent, attention to detail excellent. Go the extra mile definately
h. w.
Great venue, great staff, great wedding, great experience
I. G.
Lovely little place for kids to run . Had a play ground, open field and a maze !. Defiantly would come again
A. M.
First visit. Pre booked afternoon tea as a birthday present. Food very tasty especially the sausage roll. Staff were friendly and attentive in a relaxing non invasive way like you can experience in some places. We had a window seat which had great garden views. Couldn't finish the afternoon tea, so came home with a doggy bag. The burger looked fantastic however I'll have to go back another time as I was full.
D. R.
Pop in with a friend for lunch staff, service and food all excellent however the house was closed due to a private function😂
F. D.
Amazing staff. Amazing food. Their menu has changed recently... Still amazing... but not as good as before in my opinion. Amazing gift shop, which is unfortunate for my purse, great for me 😁
F. M.
Lovely wee afternoon tea. Will definitely go back there again. X
P. H.
I'm no expert, but what a beautiful house. The highlight of a visit to Glasgow
P. G.
Lovely, spacious venue for meeting. Food lovely.
G. M.
Beautiful rooms, could do with more garden to stand in. Food a bit meh especially for vegetarians
P. M.
Very attractive house, inside a park area and the café is good.
K. J.
Food was amazing, service was fantastic and the rooms are stunning 👌
L. M.
Fab service and home made baking delightful! The wee shop is a well stocked with lots of lovely things. The rooms in the house are amazing to see.
S. K.
The homemade fish cakes were lovely and the gentleman and the lady who served us made us very welcomed 👌💫
I highly recommend lunch at the House for an Art Lover.
V. P.
House for an Art Lover is, in my opinion, the best thing for a lovely day out in Glasgow. Cost effective and comes with a very detailed audio guide included in the price. Not to mention its in Bellahouston Park, which is excellent for a ramble on a dry day.
P. C.
Clean and classy situated in an amazing green space.
E.
Great venue for a wedding. Staff all lovely, food was excellent and the place is gorgeous
H. M.
It's an amazing place. We got married here last year and the whole team were so kind and helpful from start to finish. Great food, great surrounding scenery, great people and a great place to view some of Scotland's best architect/designer's work. Recommend to anyone.
C. B.
Set in a nice park with pretty walled garden. Food was really good in HFAAL.
D. T.
Married here 6 years ago. Stunning location. Our dog loved it too
S. N.
We had such a lovely first experience here. We had lunch, and couldn't have been more pleased and impressed. The place is lovely, and located in a gorgeous park as well. The interior is just as beautiful as the exterior. It's such a cozy place, with fairy lights, great food (especially great value for money), and great staff. Will definitely come back. We loved everything about it.
E. R.
Beautiful House, friendly Staff and the tour was Excellent. Well worth a visit.
R. G.
Fascinating history and also the historical details. Come here for the art or architecture, either way worth a visit and that's before mentioning the cafe and the walled garden.
J. H.
Very nice place worth a visit, nice restaurant and the surroundings in the gardens are nice. Still a lovely place and with PPWH opening up afternoon tea, with home baking it'worth a visit.
M. H.
My husband and I were married here, it is an amazing venue! All our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves! I am a huge Charles Rennie Mackintosh fan, so to hold our wedding here was a dream come true. Staff are wonderful, nothing too much trouble.
D. R. S.
Well worth a visit and great cafe.
J. M.
Quite a limited menu, but everything I have had has been really good and I've been 3 times now. Setting is awesome, staff are really nice (but not in a fake way. I may update to 5 stars at this rate, and I never give 5 stars...
Update... ☹️. Hmm. Not so good tonight. Service a bit off. 30 mins to take an order. 45 mins to get a drink. 1 hour until first course. Waitress a bit disinterested... Food OK but not so nice when it's kind of chucked at you. It was busy, but not that busy. Other waitress took over and it got better. So stars remain.
D. A.
Visit at least monthly. Beautiful grounds, lots of parking close by and lovely surroundings. Nice little gift shop that you pass through on your way to the restaurant. They do the best fruit scones ever - served fresh and hot, with cream and jam. So delicious...
C. S.
We got married at House of An Art Lover on 05-Oct-2019. We had a wonderful day and an amazing evening reception. Big thank you to Hannah for helping plan our day. Hannah is lovely and I am going to miss chatting to her. On the day, Scott and the team kept everything ticking over perfectly whilst making sure we had a glass of fizz and a beer at all times. The food was delicious as well. It is a beautiful building and the grounds are nice and peaceful. We would highly recommend this venue for a wedding or private function.
a. k.
This is a lovely setting. We went to the cafe as we could not go to a restaurant to celebrate a friends birthday. The food was great but more limited than a restuarant but the setting made up for that. First time I have been here. Would go back again. Good food, service and lovely grounds.
C. S.
Loved this place, excellent food and staff are so nice and very helpful.
Lovely gift shop too. I would definitely recommend this place..
R. W.
A dream has become manifest! A remarkable achievement!
I have no particular affinity with this sort of art, but even I found it interesting!
Highly recommended.
M. E.
Beautiful venue for a wedding. We were married here a few years ago and it was an amazing experience. The venue is beautifully designed, with some intricate artwork on display and available to buy. The house itself is set within a lovely green area with a stunning private garden. A hidden gem 5 minutes from the city centre and Ibrox stadium.a great place to visit for lunch or dinner also.
A. E.
Lovely house to visit and spend some time in. You need to check it's open before you visit as they use the space as a wedding venue and close it to the public during these times. It's worth taking the time to listen to the audio guides as you go around.
I have only ever had coffee and cake at the restaurant and this was very good. Overall well worth a visit and the £6 entrance fee.
K. w.
Stunning venue .... just perfect for a wedding !! X
E. D.
Beautiful venue, staff very accommodating and friendly. Would love to do a tour here sometime.
M. B.
What a wonderful surprise, I never expected such sublime rooms.
g.
The food here will blow you away. Fantastic
R. S.
Absolutely splendid wedding venue. The House, built to Mackintosh's design in the 1990s, has a beautiful room for the ceremony and a stunning sunlit dining room. The House sits in beautiful Bellahouston Park which is great for photos. A downstairs room is excellent for dancing with easy access to get outside to enjoy the evening air. Scott, our Master of Ceremonies, was super efficient, super friendly and all round great guy. He was supported by great staff. The meal was delicious. All in all it made for a day to remember for all the right reasons. All the guest were thrilled. Full disclosure, I am the father of the bride.
C. C.
One of our loved venues for dining and taking in some Glasgow history. Beautiful building and food to look forward to at anytime of the year. Great team, friendly welcoming atmosphere.
H. “. E.
Perfect venue for a medium size wedding. The music room is so romantic and beautiful! The food was delicious. Staff were great. The park is blooming with rhododendrons at this time of year which is perfect for pictures.
Loved it!
S. L.
Went to The Art Lovers' Café for a birthday lunch. This is the third time I have eaten there.
As on the previous two visits, the food was excellent.
In general, the service was very good. Unfortunately though, they did forget the dessert order for my young nephew. Once we informed the staff, it was brought to him quickly enough.
P. P.
Went to this venue for a wedding and it was done up so beautifully, the staff were A+, if you're looking for a beautiful place to get married, please consider
S. M.
Always love this café - great food, love waitstaff, beautiful green surroundings! Must visit
D. R.
A very good audio tour and very decent cafe.
D. P.
Was here for a wedding ceremony and reception. Beautiful and interesting architecture and surrounding grounds, with good function spaces and friendly staff. They were extremely accommodating to my veggie girlfriend who they made feel like the guest of honour as supposed to an after thought. The rooms became a bit hot with all the people inside which stopped me choosing 5 stars, but overall a great experience I'd recommend!
H. S.
Helena's cakes are fab, amazing sweet treats!
S. G.
Great as always : )
P. 3.
The area is beautiful, but I wouldn't go into the cafe if you have a choice. Staff and rude, the food is expensive and limited while also making you wait a while for it to arrive.
A. S.
Went to look at the Mackintosh Suite wedding venue today. It was all set up for a wedding and looked absolutely stunning. Wedding coordinator Hannah was fab - so friendly and knowledgeable. The Music Room is classic CRM and so beautiful. It leads out on to a large balcony with views of the lovely gardens below. Great place for a stylish wedding.
M. M.
Modern recreation of a rediscovered plan for a building drawn in 1900s, and yet has a certain 80's echo to it. Nice but not much to see. Piano can be played. Good as an addition to a walk in the surrounding parks.
J. M.
A wonderful tribute to the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. I've attended weddings here a few times and the Hogmanay Celebrations 4 or 5 times. The events are very well organised and the standards of hospitality is exceptional. Hogmanay at the House for an Art Lover is not to be missed :)
R. B.
Looked after very well, place is beautiful, was my sons wedding, where the staff were very attentive.
L. R.
Definitely worth visiting. Really well presented and informative audio guide.
Food at the café is also good, really nice day out!
E. M.
Friendly staff and lovely for afternoon tea
G. W.
Amazing food great outside area for sitting and enjoying the sun when it's out
N. M.
Wonderful range of work.
Check openings before you arrive as it off closes early for weddings
I. G.
Great raspberry scones do try them
P. B.
The house is definitely worth a visit. Very good audio guide. Cafe is really nice too, very comfortable with very good friendly service (and nice food).
A. S.
Although it's shut at the moment you can be served with tea or coffee and pay through a window where you have a choice of cakes and scones which you pick up at a door that's just to the side of the window and there's table's to sit outside and it's a nice place for a walk
C. O.
Look I didn't want to be there, I didn't want to go but I didn't have a good reason not to go other than social anxiety, I enjoyed the food other than that it's a ok and a good place for a wedding.
J. B.
Lovely place for lunch. Food lovely and parking easy. Make time to enjoy as it is certainly not a fast food restaurant.
P. F.
Nice to walk round the outside and admire the architecture.
Cafe was open at one of the windows to serve take away coffee etc.
Back to 5 stars once it opens fully.
L. N.
Was here for a Wedding. The Event Manager Scott was absolutely amazing! Everything went perfect and he was super friendly throughout the whole day and evening. He made everything possible. I want to thank yous and your staff for the memorable Wedding sunday my brother and his wife had
P. M. U.
Was a guest at a wedding here at the end of July. It's an iconic venue for the people of Glasgow because of the Rennie McIntosh connection and we are justifiably proud of it. The venue itself is a perfect setting to hold your wedding with a delightful hall for the actual ceremony. Combined with the ability to get great wedding photos in Bellahouston Park and a great place to have your reception, this should be high on your list of wedding venue options.
A. M.
Fabulous place to visit. Three rooms (reception, dining room, music room) are furnished and decorated faithfully in keeping with Mackintosh's drawings. A fourth, the oval room, is done in Mackintosh style, as no drawings were submitted by him for that room.
Lots of information provided on the history and contents of the house.
The setting in Bellahouston Park is beautiful and easy to get to by public transport.
The Art Lover's Cafe is really more of a restaurant and on the day we visited required a reservation. This meant that we had to wait until 2:30 pm for the first available lunch reservation. The food and service were excellent, if not cheap. If you just want a light snack, you may want to take it with you.
P. O.
Very special place. Wonderful artistic place. However, the tour was somewhat limited as a number of rooms are reserved. Therefore a little overpriced considering how much (hard fought and hard won) public funding went into the restoration?!?
M. H.
The food was lovely. We had afternoon tea, but I was a bit annoyed to be charged full adult price for a child. I had told them when I phoned to book that it was two adults one child.
C. C.
Such a fantastic place! An amazing building and such faithful details, it was fascinating to learn about the history of the building and the people who made it a reality.
M. T.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly, attentive and really lovely staff, with consistently tasty & well-presented food.
Open for lunches 7 days a week 12-4pm with coffee and cake being served from 10am to 5pm.
If coming for lunch, often a good policy to book a table, as they are the best eating house in this part of town for lunchtimes, and they dont cost the earth - I would say michelin style food at affordable prices!
If you want other things to do, there's a tour of the house for an art lover you can get on upstairs by rebooking and there's also a shop with mementoes, an art and sculpture garden, and of course all that bellahouston park has to offer, with a ski slope, a palace of arts that does yoga, nice park and city views on walks and the Bellahouston Gym.
P. R.
Great place to visit for anyone who admires the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The restaurant is also well worth a visit.
J. F.
Lovely house, beautiful architecture, very secluded. Has a small cafe too which serves hot drinks and food. It's also a perfect wedding venue, I got married here March 2016 and the venue, staff and food were faultless.
A. &. F. D.
Opened my eyes over the influence of Margaret MacDonald's artistry as part of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh "legend". It's worth a visit but maybe not so interesting for young children. Play park nearby is great though.
E. F.
Enjoyed my first visit. Lovely meal in restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Well worth a visit.
T. W.
We were here for a wedding - the whole place is spectacular. The gardens nearby are full of sculptures, and the interior is full-on Rennie Mackintosh.
There's a cafe which is a great spot, especially with parking nearby. It's worth a visit just to see the building, and it's not far from the center of Glasgow.
N. B.
Purists look down on it because it's a modern attempt to build a house from Mackintosh's incomplete drawings but to me it's a delight. It captures the essence of the architecture and decorative work of both Mackintosh and his talented wife, Margaret MacDonald. Several lovely interiors with interesting furniture. Good café with an outdoor terrace, small but worthwhile shop. It would be a stunning venue for a wedding and reception.
R. E. (.
I love all the arts surround it and the shop is really good
J. H.
Very good space both in and out and lovely coffee. Also good facilities around, incl beautiful walled garden and good, well laid out children's playground.
T. C.
This was one of the best visits ever
c. k.
Attended my sons wedding and it was fabulous. The staff couldn't do any more they went above and beyond especially Scott so thank you very much .Would recommend for any event .
G. M.
Good food and service, but a bit noisy with wooden floors and coffee machine screaming away. This causes guests to raise their voices and contribute towards the noise.Best to book ahead.
M. L.
Went to a wedding was absolutely stunning, food was amazing
S. B.
Great lunch in amazing surroundings. Lovely shop too.
P.
Went for lunch. Good layout and plenty of seating. Staff are friendly. Varied menu. Highly recommend a visit.
C. D.
Beautifully maintained representation of the Mackintoshs' style!
T. B.
Now this is one special gem of a location it has it all. has kids playarea, cafe, shop, open spaces and the gardens are great in summer. Then top it off with a stunning mackintosh designs the pictures do not do it justice. You really should visit this place if your on visit to Glasgow.
M. F. O.
Fab lunch here with friends...food amazing and service first-class. Great value too!
S. J.
Wonderful house, highly recommend this very informative house. Superb info, just stunning architecture, great restaurant and shop. Always worth a visit. Bellahouston Park is also lovely for a Walk.
H. B.
One of the most attractive settings for almost every function, its grandeur, history and sensitivity can not be surpassed or overlooked to celebrate all medium sized events.
The open public bistro restaurant is equally special, serving excellent menu choices of food along with top class service.
S.
Lovely place to visit as a tourist with and audio guide to give a detailed explanation of each section
N. W.
House For An Art Lover is absolutely stunning. I think the trust has done an amazing job of realising and bringing to life the designs of Charles and Margaret Mackintosh. I can't recommend a visit highly enough! Their tour, restaurant & gift shop and customer service are all 5 star too.
J. H.
My friend and I went for coffee and cake here last week. It's a lovely place and staff are friendly. Would thoroughly recommend it. Shop is good too.
B. S.
Great venue and art spot in a lovely park.
C. H.
This was really special especially the grounds
R. K.
Fantastic venue, lovely food and staff. Beautiful gardens too. Top notch!
D. M.
It's been open for 20 or possibly 21 years now and I have been using the "café" for most of that time. I say "café" because, although in the morning and after lunch it serves coffee and cakes, at lunchtime it is a fine dining restaurant in all but name. Unfortunately, it doesn't open at night.
I would strongly recommend that you book online if you want to have lunch as it can get very busy, although I have managed to get a table just turning up on spec.
G.
Immaginative fun clean peaceful creative playground.
M. B.
Beautiful place, the food is amazing. Would recommend to anyone thinking of going. Afternoon tea, or lunch fantastic value.
J. S.
Only visited a few times but always found the staff and cuisine very acceptable. Rene Mackintosh designed buildind in park. Nice view of gardens from restaurant, especially in growing season. Will go back.
M. J.
Excellent exhibition replicating with such precision and authenticity the designs for rooms and their furnishings designed by Mackintosh and his wife Margaret. Very informative audio guides and visual displays. House set in lovely location
R. T.
Had my daughters wedding there and it was fantastic from the beginning to the end. The staff were very good kept everything on track without any problems. Was very impressed with them 👍👌👍👍
K. M.
Beautiful place i was at a event but defo come back in summer for a visit
J. S.
Mackintosh's ideas for creating different atmospheres within this house are amazing. An unforgettable place, well worth a visit. The excellent cafe is a bonus.
A. B.
Nice wee cafe downstairs in the house. Great service and good food however avocados could’ve been a bit fresher!
E. R.
Lovely gardens for a stroll, kids play area, only visited the cafe had cake and coffee,my wife had tea and cake, granddaughter ha ice cream, in the seated area outside, what a lovely afternoon.
L.
Had a great time looking around inside the house then went outside to spend hours viewing and taking photographs of everything around the park and gardens, there's a lot to enjoy and get fresh air too. Enjoy.
B. T.
Beautifully appointed premises, internally and externally, featuring the designs and influences of Charles Rennie Macintosh, set within well manicured grounds. Decent food, if a little expensive, but reasonable when considering the surroundings.
G. L.
Had an amazing afternoon tea delivered this morning. Ist class food and service. It was delivered by Zsuzsa Pato who was very friendly and took time to go through contents. Highly recommended. George and Marion Leggat.
C. P.
Worth a visit, house, gardens, play area etc. Booked table at cafe for lunch but unfortunately put into over flow room, disappointed to be told it's first come first served, which kind of negates booking. Service good from pleasant staff.
C. R.
Nice grounds. Attened wedding needed to sell kidney for a round
b. a.
Not sure what the intention is. Emphasis seems to be on the people who put the place together. A good re-creation & interesting from this point of view.
I was more impressed by the history of the park - the 1938 exhibition etc. in the outbuildings.
G. Q.
A beautifully designed building with many pieces of visual art in the gardens. Although the building was closed when I visited, I was able to walk through the grounds
C. M.
A very cosy Building built on the design by Rennie McIntosh, there is a restaurant a shop also outside seating for tea you can have a tour of the Rennie McIntosh building..well worth a visit in the grounds of Bellahouston Park

M. C.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Brilliant gift shop. Good place for lunch especially on a sunny day as a stroke after lunch is a treat.
R.
Wow, what a stunning place. Only part of the building that is in desperate need of a refurb is the toilets. Remind you of a 1980's service station. Such a let down after seeing the magnificent house.
K. F.
Beautiful, calm example of architecture & interior design. A gorgeous place to visit & just chill out.
G. P.
Beautiful house and great venue for a wedding
K. T.
My husband and I visited 5 years ago. I was so moved by the total experience, that I have continued to tell all who will listen, that it is a special place not to be missed. It is also a beautiful story. I loved it.
R. W.
I'm a Celebrant for Humanist Society Scotland and regularly conduct weddings here. When I conducted my Nephew's wedding I got to stay on to enjoy the whole day.....and the food , the atmosphere and the professionalism of the staff made the whole day (and party afterwards) a real pleasure :-)

Have lunch or tea here rather often. Foods great, staff are friendly and the venue is stunning. Would highly recommend.
C. o. G.
For the love if god please update your opening hours here on Google. Listing says open 7 days and we drove across is the pouring rain for lunch to find out you were closed ! Poor performance .
C. G.
Beautiful realisation of the ideas of CRM. A walk around the building exterior gives parallels into other CRM buildings...the weather vane for example. Hung around but couldn't engage staff for a lunch booking so took a stroll around the beautiful walled garden. Under noticed part of Glasgow.
M. M.
Stunning!
no more to say really
