My husband and I had our 'elopement' wedding here with our 18 month old on 7th Jan and the very first wedding in their newly licensed room 'the old kitchen'. From initial communication to the big day, all the staff were friendly and quick at responding especially our wedding coordinator, Ryan. The venue is absolutely beautiful, so much history and amazing photo opportunities! It really is beautiful. It is the PERFECT wedding venue and we would highly recommend along with the wonderful staff who even catered for our 18 month old. We do not have a bad word to say! Thank you Blackfriars staff for making our day so special.

Stunning venue! We held our daughters first birthday party here last weekend. Staff were amazing and especially Holly was so quick at responding to emails, they couldnt do enough. Would love to have another party here in the future.

I don't think I can sing this venue's praises enough. We hosted our wedding at Blackfriars Priory and it was just stunning! The team were so helpful to us, including the multiple times we had to re-organsie the day due to Lockdowns, to my stress induced frantic emails about the smallest details. Ryan in particular could not have been a better team mate in organising this day! We absolutely loved every second, and the buildings and architectue made the most stunning back drop. If you're planning a wedding, or even just for something to do whilst in Gloucester, then look no further!

Fantastic venue in the heart of Gloucester! Great to be able to have our wedding ceremony, breakfast and evening reception all in one place, and the weather held for canapes in the courtyard. Sue was a great coordinator and worked with the caterers and florists to make the run-up as stress-free as we could have hoped, and the big day itself was just perfect.

Where do we start… the venue itself is beautiful & we knew this was the place we needed to get married instantly! Upon booking, the communication & feedback was above & beyond expectation… very accommodating to our needs!!! The day itself ran smooth, staff were brilliant & the wedding ceremony room looked amazing with the way it was set up with the lighting, antique furniture & all the trimmings. Couldn’t of asked for a better day! Highly recommended

Really great venue, staff were amazing for our wedding in August 2021, can not recommend this place enough. Such a unique place to get married and with so much heritage. All guest were amazed at the venue when they arrived and said it was like nothing they have seen before.

Beautiful venue but far from ideal for theatrical performances - can't see and hard to hear. Needs some form of raised seating. £15 a ticket is a lot when you can't see what's happening.

Our wedding was held at Blackfriars Priory on 26th June 2021. It is an excellent venue and we would recommend it to anyone . The staff are wonderful and went out of their way to ensure our day was really special. All in All it was excellent.

Part of the bright nights exhibition around Gloucester.. The breathing room at blackfriars priory is a mechanical colourful structure. An evening viewing would probably give more intensity to the lighting. There is a small bar for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and cakes. And benches to sit and watch the lights change and the structure working. There are cushions so you can sit inside and listen to the creaks and whirls. It isn't a large structure so the moment walking through is over very quickly.

Makes amazing historic but spacious meeting venue with modern large toilets. Grass quadrangle in centre which for Gloucester History Festival had cafe/bar, picnic table and information stalls.

Beautiful building! Very up and down and a crazy layout not suited for those with mobility issues, but they've done what they can to accommodate by adding lifts to the main areas. It's just undergone renovation and the added heated is a godsend! The event I went to used to be bitterly cold! Just a little tucked out the way for an event with no set parking space, but there's a super cheap mini multi storey just over the road if you can get in.

We used Blackfriars as our wedding venue and we can’t thank them enough for their wonderful service- it was most beautiful place to get married! After having to postpone our April 2020 wedding due to the pandemic, we were supported and guided through this by the amazing Blackfriars team. We know from speaking to friends, that some wedding venues were difficult when postponing weddings but this can’t have been further from the truth with our experience of Blackfriars. We couldn’t have asked for anything more and would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Holly, Ryan and Sue, you are amazing and we can’t wait to celebrate in our wedding part 2 next year!

Brilliant venue. I attended the Gloucester History Festival there and heard some great talks from well known authors and Historians. including Max Hastings, Janina Ramirez, the makers of "Call the Midwife" (and one of the actors), Cerys Matthews, Kate Adie, Martin Bell. It was a great week. I believe it's the oldest priory in England.

An English Heritage site that is bigger than it looks. It's also used for events and functions and is a great venue for Gloucester beer festival early in the year. Good to have a browse around.

The gym just outside of this venerable monastery is oft in contention by those whose connectivity allows such actions. Common is the cry of 'is everyone in' and 'I'm lagging like hell' of hunters in this location.
