Reviews of Jubilee Square

Took the children to ice skating, no social distancing whilst changing shoes practically herded in like cattle. The Rink was so busy however the children thoroughly enjoyed it (age range from 8-18) so not all bad.
A. A.
Nice atmosphere at Christmas, rink is definitely overcrowded and would be far more enjoyable if limited, the wheel of light stands out and is a bit of an icon as expected. There are a few stalls selling sweets and such at the square but they close in the early evening.

This used to be a Bus Stop which looked absolutely dreadful!! Especially since it's the Entrance as well as Exit for Visitors shopping or visiting some of the City's Great Tourist Attractions, like the Richard III Visitors Center which was previously a Car Park where King Richard 3rds Body was finally found over 600 years after his death! Jubilee Square is an amazing place where Visitors as well as Leicester Citizens can relax from the Hectic Time in the City! All I can say is this is a wonderful Square which makes Leicester a more attractive City to Visit and this will shortly be joined by the Market Square once it's Regeneration is Complete! Again making our City a Great Tourist Attraction!!

Started the Rocket round Leicester hunt last night, my first rocket sighting was brilliant, can't wait to find more

Ice skating a fantastic opportunity for all. Very well organised. Helpful staff. Big wheel brilliant. Lovely on a sunny day to see above the city.

Jubilee Square is well maintained. A pleasure to be there. Last time we visited was for the 5000 - 1 walk with Leicester City... Literally!
S. S.
A nice spot in the day for events and a pleasant place at night with the lights and stuff
H. O.
Great place to sit and chill. They have open air cinema here and show football when major competition. This is on the rocket trail with lots of different rockets until end of September
A. U.
Not much to say really, it's a nice spot to chill in town when weathers good, also have a few random things that pop up now and then, last time I was there (1st week Aug) there was mini golf for kids
S. Z. K.
Open area with loads of sitting space on concrete steps or wooden benches. Nice place to sit and have a snack and watch people go by. There is a small play area for children too.
R. N.
We enjoyed it me and the kids the ice skating and the big wheel
M. M.
Liked the ice ring i was a bit sacred, not been for years my kids loved it and went again ,bit expensive but once its ok abd alaugh
K. K.
Range of things that you can do especially during this festive time of year, such as light switching and also the formidable ice ring
L. T.
Lovely place to chill during the day and early evening. Gets messy at night.
B. M.
Nice place but not quite

FREE 30 MINUTES ROLLER SKATING, INCLUDING SKATE HIRE. A nice little taster for people who don't know whether to commit to a 2 hour session on a Saturday. The rink isn't huge but obviously they are constrained by the space available so I'm not taking a star away. The usual friendly and professional staff I've come to expect from sk8 house. Thanks for giving up your summer holidays guys. I'm sure I'm not the only one who got a bit fat during lockdown.

Nice

In the Roman period much of the site was occupied by the southern and eastern ranges of one of Leicester’s most important public buildings, the mid-2nd century forum. The city’s principle east to west street, the Fosse Way, also crossed the site.

Lovely place to sit on a warm spring/summer day. The square is always full of life, from pedestrians to cabs. Special events are sometimes held here, but usually it's just a relaxing place to sit. Would recommend taking a look and having a seat after a long day of shopping/working!
R. R.
Nice atmosphere, nice staff and we spend agreeable moments.
I. W.
Nothing much there but a useful space to stage events etc. Surprisingly clean and tidy when I've been there considering the amount of litter elsewhere in the City. More useful than I thought it'd be when it replaced the car park which used to occupy the site.
s.
At the moment there is àn ice rink and a big wheel so it's a great place to take the kids. The 1 thing I don't like about the way they've designed this area is how the road blends in with the path and I've seen many confused pedestrians dodge cars and vans as they've driven towards them including myself just after it was finished, they really didn't think that through very well
I. B.
Events were taking place at the Jubilee Square. Whose idea was it to prevent admission to the many car parks? A form of commercial self harm and unfortunately not the first time this has happened. Let's make access easy and cheap enough to encourage people to attend these events
A. E.
Wonderful addition to the city centre, which blends in perfectly with the bars, top of high street and the Old city. Wether chilling on the grass in the sun, playing Pokémon go or having a drink, it's a mist visit on a sunny afternoon.
J. P.
Enjoyed an outing with the family for the Christmas special ice skating and the big wheel. The road next to is a shared road so please beck with car traffic. The area is pleasant for the summer aswell. It's easy to get to and close all attractions within the city.
B. F.
It's great that the city has an open square available for activities, events, and fairs. The square has a medieval-style highcross and is visible from the Medieval Wygston House, but also features postmodernist concrete asymmetry, which in combination make the square rather classy, if a bit plain. For this reason, the square does attract the classier open-air events and mini-festivals in competition with Leicester's other venues
A. P.
Even Leicester, like many cities in the world, has a very large square called Jubilee Square which is very close to the city center. In this square converge several streets unmistakably medieval style. It can also be seen how the antique style with modern post come together in an elegant city area. Tanks to this it combines the ancient and the new and the great space that gives us attracts outdoor eventes and shows of all kinds. If the tourist were to visit this city,I would definitely recommend visiting it.
M. M.
Fantastic Square, especially with Leicester City Council putting on the Leicester Festival (see my pictures of the Dome and the British Sea Power / Brandy Thieves gigs. Always worth checking online to see if anything is on here, especially in the Summer. Also Check out Wygeston House which is next to the Square and enjoy a nice pint or gin outside in the good weather (they also have an outside bar I believe).

During the winter the ice skating rink is amazing and during summer the greenery and play area is a nice place to sit and relax ! Beautiful views
S. A.
Having spent the money creating this area, the city council really need to keep investing in it to keep it looking smart. Seating areas especially are already looking very, very tired.
M. B.
Lovely atmosphere, nice clean and well kept. Good variety of take out food and no litter. Ideal place to sit and chat whilst in town.
L. M.
This is about the temporary ice rink: Price is OK (£7.00 for 45 mins, book in advance), ice a bit slushy, boots very painful for me (didn't have my half size), shoe changing area very crowded. You can rent a 'seal' to sit on for the very young, or a 'penguin' to hold onto from about 3 or 4 years. You need to rent these from across the way (Radio Leicester) so is worth knowing about in advance if needed.
T. F.
Been here for picnics, planned events and stumbled across some here too! They make great use of the space here and it's well looked after.
M. H.
Pleasant and spacious. Has relaxing atmosphere, comes to life when foreign teams visit leicester. Attracted a lot of younger people over festive period with ice rink.
S. P.
Lovely setting.
C. F.
A lovely area that Leicester much needed and it does add to the City's renewed vibrancy. The Champions League fanzones were incredible here in 2017... may we get there again LTID xx

We loved it.... had a great time at the Christmas ice rink and had a fantastic ride on the Christmas Ferris wheel will definitely do this again next year 😉😁
R. S.
Jubilee Square was created to mark the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Leicester, during her Diamond Jubilee Tour in 2012. Much controversy surrounds it's creation. Why did Leicester require a new Square? It also removed car parking facilities that were close to shops and historical places of interest. Not to mention issues over it's layout. It has however proved very popular. The large Ferris Wheel being a big Christmas attraction. More recently the square providing a 'Fan Zone' for Leicester City's European adventures in the Champions League.

This is the first time I've been to the square, it was lovely . Very festive, the kids had a wonderful time ice skating & a go on the Ferris wheel.
