I went to a wedding here. It is very small with no parking, although there is on road spaces. There was a long gap between ending the day events and getting ready for evening guests. This all said it is absolutely beautiful and picture perfect beside a stream

We had our wedding at the Old Grammar School on the 19th Feb and we highly recommend them for a wedding venue. We had to change the date twice and both times the team were very supportive and understanding. The venue is amazing and everything went exactly as planned. Amazing venue for our wedding here in May - everything from the decor to cleanliness was superb. Had my Daughter and Son-in-Law's wedding at this magnificent venue on the 1st September 2018. Met Dan the day before as we were allowed in to decorate the seats and tables before the big day. Dan and his team couldn't have made it better if they tried. I didn't hear one word of complaint from anyone and the bar staff coped magnificently through out the night. Everything we asked for was seen to and the bubble machine we wanted to be set up was done so by one of Dan's team, or himself, and the sight of all the bubbles in the sunlight was beautiful. It was a hot day outside but cool inside as is the case with these old buildings. Very welcoming too. Not sure about some of the negative reviews but mine is a full 10/10 100% satisfaction. (Sorry for the delay in the personal Thank You card Dan.)

An amazing special place - can't thank Alex and his team enough. Everything is taken care of and nothing too much trouble. We truly had the best day of of lives and so did our guests, many telling us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. The building is truly magnificent over 600 years old yet with a warm and magical atmosphere. I really felt like a fairytale bride and could not have asked for more. If you are looking for an amazing venue with wonderful staff, incredible food and everything taken care of - this is it. The Old Grammer School - best wedding ever!!

My friend had her wedding here on saturday, i was blown away by how beautiful the building was, we received great service from the staff they were all very friendly and the food was fab! Brilliant old building. Went to a wedding here, inside was done up really nicely and the staff were extremely accommodating. The entire place had flooded 48 hours before the event and they got it all sorted to their credit!

The venue is stunning, nestled in a less that picturesque part of town it is a hidden gem. The stone floors and mezzanine level are simply stunning and the wood beams and high windows give it an old world charm. Which is why we chose it for our wedding venue. I like venues that are quirky and different and didn't want the white box hotel. The Old Grammar School fitted the bill perfectly. We met with Alex, who I found to be a bit like a used car sales man, promises the world but not evidence to back it up, he didn't really seem to know how the day would run or what things were included, such as a sound system or microphone. Despite this we booked it as the price was right and I loved it. We used the in house decorators for table cloths, seat covers and sashes and she did a wonderful job. We also did some decorating ourselves, which they were happy with us doing and we had access the night before. The place looked lovely. Prior to the wedding we met with Dave, and any fears I had were eased- he really seemed to know what he was doing. We opted for canapes, pork, beef and veg, roasted potatoes and wedding cake for dessert to keep costs down, but I am glad we did. We had a number of vegetarians at the wedding and chose nut roast for them. On the wedding day the venue was stunning, the candles and fire were lit and the decorator had done a wonderful job. The canapes were ok, there weren't as many as had been suggested to us and as the bride I got very few. I also noted that they much smaller than the canapes served on the 'open day'. The main food service however was incredibly slow, we had been told it would be about an hour, it was at least an hour and a half. By the time the last table got their food the meat was dry and tough. Several tables had to ask for extra gravy and the vegetarians didn't get food until the groom went to the kitchen and asked for it! There was also no vegetarian gravy, despite us having asked for it in our meeting with Dave. Guests did comment on the quantity though, which is positive, though one asked "is this pork or beef, coz it looks like pork but tastes like beef". The wedding cake was dessert, and I'm glad it was, I have absolutely no idea how they would have got the dessert made and plated up in time- they had told us they would use an external tent as a kitchen but on the day used the tiny kitchen in the venue itself, no wonder service was slow, you couldn't fit more than 3 people in there. They took ages to serve the cake, and instead of starting with massive bottom tier (fruit cake) as instructed they started with the small chocolate top layer, then the middle lemon sponge. The bride had to go and ask for some of the chocolate cake only to be told there was none left. The groom also had to asked the kitchen for some lemon cake for his gran who is unable to eat fruit cake due to her health- a reason why we had asked for the cake to be served in the way we had, as when his gran had asked a staff member had told her they were only serving fruit cake now. There were several other niggly things I could mention but as they sell themselves on the food I thought that should be the main focus, the rest were extra, and didn't really interfere with the guests enjoyment of the day, only noticed by myself and the groom. If the venue read this - I suggest that you find out where the vegetarians are sitting before the big day and that you find some veggie gravy. It's small things like that that mean it goes without a hitch. Lack of preparation makes you look like amateurs. Oh, and don't tell people you have a mike for the speeches if in reality it doesn't work - tell people the truth, they'll like you more for it.

Gorgeous building. Would be great if could be openned up for community groups but works out far too expensive if running free groups or groups that have little in way of funds. The area is in desperate need of places for people to meet up.
