A great venue for great performances.
However we were seated in row PP and there was very cold air blasting down onto us, by the end of the evening performance we were freezing!! It did spoil the enjoyment of the performance.
c. S.
Went to see James Arthur recently and throughly enjoyed myself. The venue is clean, the staff were friendly and the acoustics are pretty good too. I really enjoy going to gigs at this venue and can't wait for the next one 😀
J. M.
We went to see The Pub Landlord, Al Murray. His show was good, but the seating arrangements aren't great. A good portion of the audience were seated in fold up metal chairs, so really not comfortable at all.
G. M.
Good venue went with my sister to see Michael McIntyre who was amazing. Shame about the security who almost didn’t let us in because we had our drink he didn’t like the fact my sister had a sodstream bottle with squash in it! He was very rude about it the security person wasn’t very nice about it at all. But good show! Maybe also maybe update the seats was bit uncomfortable!
S. E.
No bad, seating seems like it's getting on a bit!
Saw Gary Numan here, May 2022.
They charge bands a lot and commission the Merch so ticket prices high! But then all venues do that! So ticket prices are what they are! Food expensive, not the best. No parking.

Used to love this place back in the day. I saw many great bands play and it pulled gigs for big names down to Plymouth. Inside its still as good as it ever was but I think literally the fact there's no parking anymore has killed it. I also used to love the ice-skating. I hear that is gone. Its just a venue hall now, a venue hall with no parking. Great if you need a central location and don't want to drink.
C. C.
Watched Craig David here.Venue security, staff well organised and we felt safe. Facilities good, bar toilets etc. Concert good though I felt that the sound could have been better. Too loud and to much bass washed out mid ranges and in doing so lost some of the melodies within the songs.
W. M.
Attended here to see Gary Numan, this is the 1st time he's every played Plymouth & it was absolutely awesome....
W. H.
Friendly staff, well organised for people with disabilities too. A great night was had seeing Steve Hackett. I will certainly come back to this venue again.
C. T.
Saw Him & Me show the show was really good and on the night the staff were helpful. On the downsides you weren't able to take any pictures or videos, they confiscated my body spray but didn't tell me beforehand or I wouldn't have taken it, the seats were a bit old and need updating. I tried every day to book another show but the website wasn't working and you can't book by phone.
M. S.
We went there to watch james arthur amazing night and what a show he put on for us all very happy 😊
J. M.
Went to see Abba tribute here. Great show. Good atmosphere. Not sure about letting everyone constantly go in and out to get drinks while the show is on. People spilling their drinks on the floor. Nice bar area, toilets ok. Would recommend.
T. A.
I've been to this venue for a couple of gigs and it's always been well run with reasonable pricing. The only slight criticism could be the acoustics of the building aren't 100% which means music gigs need a good sound technician but it is unnoticeable with stage acts. They also have quite a few big names so it's worth keeping an eye on.
M. B.
Absolutely hopeless queue management, wrong times printed on tickets leading to chaos at entrance.
Staff inside within the hall itself could not have been nicer, though. Very friendly and thoughtful (offering children ear plugs for noise, checking people could see past sound crew setup)
J. B.
Great venue, saw the looks here and it was an amazing night, also been Ice skating here
A. W.
Amazing, very helpful staff who want you to get you to the right place. Very clean and good leg room on the flat level. The bar was well provisioned with drinks and snacks and there were vending machines in the outer main foyer during the interval. All in all a good experience.
L. A.
Good venue. Very well organised seating and good acoustics. Bar was well staffed so quick and easy service. All in all an enjoyable fun experience seeing The Proclaimers.
D. M.
Delighted that PP have invested in their floor seating which is hugely more comfortable! Easy venue to access and navigate through. Have only been for comedy shows, love that they get such big named stars. Despite being a large capacity venue they are able to serve you with relative speed (entry, bar, restrooms etc.) though they could do with better/more hand wash facilities. Be warned the bars/cafe close 10mins before the start time so allow for that! Shame the council removed the closest parking meaning so many people have to cross a major road.
J. G.
Nice venue, clean and tidy. Good sound in auditorium.
Just cannot understand why they will not allow you to have the lid for a bottle of water!
D. M.
Still in need of some major renovation when it comes to audience seating in the main arena.
Well managed process for concerts, just a shame the pool / ice rink are so under utilised...
F. G.
I was served a drink by a lovely young man, but I felt a bit faint. He sat me down and gave me some water, really went out of his way to help me. Very polite, smart and most of all, took the time to help me enjoy my night there. Thank you young man. Decan was his name, what a credit to your establishment.
J. C.
Nice venue for the Bellowhead gig. Let those that wanted to dance at the side while others sat which seems sensible.
Odd that the bar shut while the headliners were still playing though.
E. A.
Attended the 80s Live Christmas Party last night.
Bar was rubbish. Over priced with minimal range on offer. No alcohol free beers etc
Dinner: food was mediocre at best and service appallingly slow
Environment: very cold and drafty. Many people wore overcoats whilst eating dinner.
Poor value at almost £50per head
S. L.
Went to see Brian Cox at Pavillion. Nice venue with a good view of the stage wherever you're sat. Staff were very attentive and organised. Bar is on the pricey side but thats to be expected. Would definitely go back to see more shows!
P. B.
Enjoyed the Aussie Pink Floyd here. Good access to local hotels and B&Bs and street parking. Not sure acoustics would be to live classical concert but otherwise fine
S. T.
Saw Jason Manford on Friday night, he was excellent. As for the venue, I fell over trying to get back to my seat, squeezing past other people. Not drunk, just the little upstand between every 3 seats but my biggest problem, yet again, no sugar free drinks for people who don't drink coke. There is such a range of drinks available, why is nobody giving us any consideration!
S. N.
Great venue for concerts and performances. Ladies toilet queues are predictably long, and you have to REALLY want an interval drink to join the line.
C. B.
Great show with Jules Holland 5 star. But let down by uncomfortable seats in raised section don't think any better than when pavilions built.
No stars for seats!
T. S.
You can't take in water but you can buy it in there if they take off the lid for you. Bags restricted to a small handbag. It's more like going through an airport than going to a show. The theatre royal is just up the road, there you can take in drinks and nibbles. Maybe pavilions is attracting the wrong type of guests, if they treat us all as bottle throwing thugs.
e. m.
Went ice skating. Shame its closing down end of this month. Was busy, well staffed. Would of recommended a day out of all ages
C. B.
Saw Jon Richardson, great venue
K. H.
Excellent venue, not a bad seat in the house. If you're just after a hot drink or bottle of lager at the interval remember, there is the kiosk as you walk in. Lots of top acts visiting and reasonable prices. Highly recommended venue.
O. T.
Fantastic venue for music, came here to watch two door cinema club in october. Sounded amazing standing near abouts in the middle. Not too overly crowded, theres a bar outside by the toilets and theres also a bar bear the stage, was not too long of a wait to get drinks however the 4 stars is because I cant justify the price for drinks in music venues. £6 for a standard beer.
T. r.
Went to Bill Bailey's gig and everything went wonderfully well. The staff managed the covid and ticket checks efficiently. The show was great . One criticism, open another couple of exits after the show, it was a bit of a squash leaving the arena.
R. C.
Oh my goodness, this was the best show! EVERYBODY were on their feet by the end.
Wonderful! Wonderful?!
K.
Fantastic venue host to great shows and bands. Spacious good facilities. Nice bars, clubs and restaurants near by. The bar is expensive so be prepared! Ice rink great family fun too!
A. M.
Attended Plymouth Pavilion to watch Michael McIntyre, fantastic, super funny and overall a great evening. However please note if you are planning on going to Plymouth Pavilion, they take everything off you at the door, so don’t recommend taking water or carrying any perfume or deodorant in your bag. Also the chairs are not overly comfortable for sitting on for 2 hours and are a bit dated.
S. N.
Ice rink is good . 9 pounds per person for 1 hour. You can wak in directly.
S. W.
Hands down the tattiest venue I've ever been to. The seat were all dirty, broken and taped together. Far too few loos with ancient driers so you not only queue to get in but then queue for the slow driers and him have to wait for them to finish blowing air before you can wash your hands.
That said, the staff seemed great and Michael McIntyre was hilarious.
A. M.
Went to see Kevin Bridges, he was great the venue not so good. Toilets were disgusting the smelt like ibrox. The seats were really old and after an hr and a half I was glad to get off it . 🙃
T. B.
Great venue but the chairs are old and uncomfortable
P. S.
Attended the DJML presentation evening for my son and really enjoyed it. The seats were comfortable and the refreshments very good too.
J. B.
So Plymouth pavilions is a place where you can watch live shows and it's only open when there is live shows on in there big building and the doors open 1 hour before the live shows in the building.
M. W.
Watched Strictly show which was excellent, although the sound quality did not do the show justice. The seats were tatty and badly numbered. The bar was like that of a football stadium and rather overpriced.
There was no indication of an adjacent car park, and security did not allow any drinks containers to be taken in.
All in all a disappointing experience.
M. T.
Great venue for business and pleasure events. Easy access in and out. Staff were very helpful
T. C.
I've been here twice, great place, friendly staff, lots to choose from to book tickets to go and see your favourite shows.
j. w.
Went to see fastlove, what a great night hearing all the George Michael songs, very friendly atmosphere, staff were great, perfect night.
p. m.
Brilliant shows and great experience
B. C.
This is a great place to attend music gigs. We saw 2 bands here in one week and both were very good. The first time we went we had the VIP tickets for a private lounge / bar, free drink and cloakroom. This was £20 and very well worth the cost, as we discovered at the next gig, when we had to queue for ages at the public bar to get a drink.
This would be the only criticism of the place - more bar staff needed, and possibly a bigger or second bar!
S. D.
Lovely supportive staff, security were lovely when going in, had no problem taking in my own drink for medical reasons.
l. M.
Watched Jon Richardson, brilliant night. Could do with more leg room on the seats
K. C.
Went to see Kaiser Chiefs, everything was great except people vaping throughout the event.
H. S.
Other concert's have been great such as Simple Minds, Bananarama, and 80s Icons. However, recently I went to see a George Michael tribute, and may I ask, where was the security? I was front row enjoying my time, but I had women run to the front to get a 'selfie' with 'George Michael' and once that was done, a bunch of others ran to the front whom didn't purchase front tickets blocked my view. They were ridiculously drunk screaming at others to stand up along with trying to get onto the stage itself whilst the concert still going. I was also walked/danced into by these people, and they didn't even care to say sorry when I was hit by them. I would've joined the "party" as I, myself, am a young 19 years old. On the other hand, I didn't want to be pushed around by drunks who should've known better, but they shouldn't of been there in the first place as for security should have handled the situation better instead of standing behind the curtains and let the crazy mess happen. All in all, I enjoyed the first half of the concert, but the second half was ruined by others, and I felt more annoyed when I saw security doing nothing and just standing there watching people leave at the end.
S. M.
The show was very good but seat's VERY uncomfortable in desperate need of some new padding. 😬
T.
Great venue for concerts! Bar is expensive but what do you expect at a concert. Main bar is always absolutely packed but has a variety of drinks the 2 little bars that I know of only have a selection of a few not many.
s. C.
I'm disabled and from the moment that i arrived the staff were great making sure my experience of the entire process of the.venue plus helping me out with anything i needed before getting me to my seat to comfortably watch the show was first class. After the show had finished again there was staff to help me to the moment arrived to leave. I felt safe throughout so thanks to all the staff involved. I would definitely return to and recommend the Plymouth Pavilions to anybody who has disabilities of any kind.
S. C.
Strictly Pro's live- an amazing show.
A. C.
I have been to Plymouth Pavilion many times for shows, but last night I went to see UB40. Normally, the space is full of chairs, but this time a huge area was left open. A perfect dance floor. Although you can't park outside the pavilion, there is ample parking ina near by pay and display, at least at 8pm there was. The staff are always friendly and helpful and security sort out any problems, swiftly and efficiently. A great venue, I highly recommend.
J. A.
Went to see the strictly come dancing tour it was absolutely brilliant what a show. Thankyou to the wonderful talented professionals dancers the live band and singers and everyone involved that made it a memorable and superb evening.xx👍
J. M.
A very good live music venue good acoustics very little restricted view it normally means the bit you can't see nothing is happening anyway good assortment of performers something for everyone another trip there in December is in the planning stage
S. B.
Good venue. Car parking a real issue but that's the same with many such places.
A. R.
Show was good although the car park adjacent to the Pavilion is no longer there so had a walk to find somewhere to park.Staff at venue very helpful. Music very loud and couldn't hear what the singers were saying clearly.
R. C.
Very helpful staff when needed to change tickets . Had a very enjoyable evening 🙂.
M. B.
Nice clean venue. It is what it is really. Shame the doors didn't open a bit earlier we were left standing out in the cold past 8pm when tickets said event started at 8pm.
Brian Cox was well worth the wait though and was amazing! Look forward to the next time he visits.
S. B.
Saw Paw Patrol Live with the kids, the venue was very friendly and made us feel comfortable.
K. T.
Had a fab time watching Will Young at Plymouth Pavillions. Good view of the stage, comfy seats, and best of all for me was not too hot . Would definitely choose to go again.
M. L.
Saw Jimmy Carr there last week, queue for the bar was ridiculous and the toilet queue gets mixed with it. Worst thing about Pavilions
M. P.
Excellent night in the Pavilions, Staff are helpful ,to my surprise James Arthur was amazing live, great show!
T. L.
I enjoyed an evening concert here, well organized.
S. M.
Good venue. Only complaint the seating was to close together
d. h.
So pleased they had sound compatible with hearing aids - the loop system - made it even more enjoyable.
D. W.
Great night, only let down is could jave done with more staff on the bar. Staff were polite tho
S. B.
We went to see John Bishop last Monday, and he was brilliant! Also Ray Bradshaw was brilliant, but the seats are in need of a change, and the place could do with a overall, and bring it into the 21st century.
Even John Bishop mentioned the fact it needs updating.
R. P.
Loved strictly come dancing the professionals, seen about 5 of the strictly shows here now. always good. Xxxx
J. J.
Great place for ice skating, gigs and more
Could do with a bit of updating here and there but all in all a great place to go
A. J. S.
I love this place but the sound is just never quite right. Every gig I have been to here, the levels are just off (assuming due to the equipment and layout rather than the engineers) and most people I know say the same. Really sucks when you know a band has the capacity to sound amazing. Nevertheless seen some great acts here and enjoyed them all the same. Queues are long but to be expected.
D. T.
When the sound systems are set up right this is an amazing venue. Not all my experiences have been 5 stars but last night Gary Numan and band were on fire bringing the best out of the Plymouth Pavilions
M. C.
A great venue for events and shows. Had a wonderful time at the Horror Circus. Great facilities that caters for the disabled. Helpful staff and reasonable prices
a. c.
Arrived, had to show my phone ticket got scanned, told where to go which door even though I looked before. Went for drink as very early, disappointed again as last year didn't have bitter. They had someone to look at ticket again going in and show you your seat which is good for the oldies. The show with the Stylistics was absolutely brilliant, best I've seen. Glad there was not too many Covid restrictions as wouldn't have gone.
T. S.
Great venue... Good facilities
Only niggle sound quality was little poor .... so a four star
P. S.
Went to watch sterophonics here. Easy and quick to get in and out. Decent small venue would recommend anyone who likes live music to use this venue.
£5 a pint and very little choice, service was pretty slow waiting at the main bar but there are two more bars once you get into the main hall (one either side of the hall)
J. H.
Watched James Arthur, such an amazing concert, and whilst he was recovering from a knee operation
R. K.
Went too see Riverdance last night. What a fantastic show a brilliant evening.
The only criticism is that we had seats near the front close to stage but you could not really see all the feet action. The stage needed to be about 2-3 feet
higher or the seats put on on a small platform.
Excellent evening.
D. C.
The concert itself was excellent. The seats need updating because they are so hard to sit on. It was obvious that Roger Taylor and the band were happy for the audience to come to the front of the stage but security were trying to get them to move back. Fortunately it didn't work.
C. T.
Watched Russel Howard with my partner, we really enjoyed. Entry was fast and a staff member showed us our seats as we came in slightly late. Bar area was very busy but served in reasonable time, one of the bar staff could have been a little more professional as he was slating the other new staff member saying how poor she was at the job.
G. J.
Plymouth's premier venue place. We saw an evening with Brian Cox, most excellent, helpful and friendly staff.
C. K.
Excellent show, bit the seats are so old and uncomfortable and so close to the next person that you are rubbing shoulders!
M. T.
Well organised. Comfortable seating. Helpful staff.
R. B. P.
Great place, and is starting to showcase smaller bands. Great show and the buzz from the bands was amazing and would definitely do again.
All pictures are mine.
J. T.
The pavilions is a great venue for music and shows. There is no parking on site but a multi storey car park and numerous other smaller car parks can be found nearby. Inside there is a large bar and a cafe both which cater for large numbers of people quickly. Plymouth pavilions is a medium size venue which makes music gigs and shows better as you're never that far from the stage. Recommended.
P.
Ok a very odd place, the glass frontage you see from the Plymouth junction is NOT how you get in the entrances as its round the back.
Ok marketing and promotion of the show's and the venue itself is terrible, you'd not know a show was on when we went and loads of people were drifting round trying to find out where we went in...👀
The interior downstairs is ok and clean, the theatre itself is massive more of a concert hall, seats are not comfortable especially for a couple of hours. It's not got much atmosphere, its not a panto hall by any means.
We saw John Bishop, but we landed up watching the big screen, so I may as well have watched at home, the seats are a long way from the stage.
It's airy and ok but a big tip is buy your ticket for parking prior to the show as the ques for paying we're 20+ mins on leaving.
The walkway from carpark you theatre is also closed which isn't good...
Overall it's a place to see shows, but atmosphere it hasn't got unfortunately.
Happy viewing!
C. C.
First time visiting the venue, to see Bill Bailey. Very well organised covid checks prior to entering, fast and efficient bag searches. Bar prices not as bad as we expected at £5 a pint. I see lots of comments from people about how they weren't allowed to bring something in.... Bottle of perfume, drinks bottles etc and that they didn't know. Well, if they had read the emails from the venue, all the policies are easily accessible from the links in the emails. Anyway, the only gripe about the venue really, is the seats. We were on the flat floor seating. They were ridiculously close together and really uncomfortable! Very hard, no padding to speak of and very tatty looking. Really needed the half time interval just to get some circulation back into your legs and backside. If they sort the seats, 5 stars no problem.
p. a.
Good venue but just watch the security staff when you go in , my daughter had to check in some make up at the cloakroom as it had glass on the container, I can understand if we were going to be dancing around to a band but we went to test match special live, so please pavillions please evoke the common sense rules, oh and don't dare try and smuggle food and drink in they'll have that to
J.
Sound notoriously not the best for gigs, very expensive drinks when there's a gig. Otherwise standard venue and the odd big band does come down and play. Great restaurant - salumi - which is opposite.
D. B.
Amazing! We went there October 2016 to see DanTDM. The staff were kind and it was beautiful. Recommend it. (pictures not taken at theatre)
m. s.
Went to see Paloma Faith,,, fantastic, as always XX
k. P.
Hard to see when everyone stood up but great shows
C. T.
Fantastic performances put on here. Just need to update the seats as they are very uncomfortable to sit in for a long period of time.
C. G.
Went here to watch Kevin Bridges good night toilets were clean xx
L. B.
Saw Jools Holland here which was fantastic. Unfortunately let down by poor seating for disabled, close to the front but right at the edge of the stage so view was blocked, could only see a section. One audience member sat beside us refusing to wear a mask, staff saying it couldn't be enforced as not mandatory (which it was at the time).
A. “. C.
Great night watching Joe Lycett.
Well organised as always, love visiting this venue it's so stress free! Easy access with code on phone. Orderly queuing at the bar. Very helpful staff.
D. G.
Great live venue. Bit of a queue getting in!!! But staff were great at organising the situation and everything moved really smoothly. A good venue with plenty of seating
f.
Recently went to a concert here. Very organised. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Security were fantastic. Couldn't ask for a better night.
M. D.
Lovely night out with A Question of Sport team. Good seating and very spacious even with full house.
N. M.
We went to see Riverdance which was absolutely amazing! We had first booked it two years ago and had to reschedule because of covid.
We parked a five minute walk away, it was a dark winter evening so not ideal. The staff and entrance were very welcoming. Collected our tickets and a drink from the bar. We didn't have to queue long for either.
We were told where our seats were and went through to find them. We were in row LL and had an excellent view of the stage. The seats looked very scruffy and grubby. We kept our masks on, but I would say only 50% of the audience did too 😷 it was very warm so I think it should have been better ventilated !!
It was really great to do something normal again and all the staff were amazing, Riverdance was fabulous but ventilaton needs looking at aswell as the seating 🙄
H. E.
Seating basic, lots of stairs if in stalls. Good live gigs
P. B.
Wolf Alice photos. The Pavilions is looking tired. 31 year old seats. Acoustics are not good. Not terrible but bands can't play loud enough because if they do the sounds is distorted. The Pavilions has never decided if it's a basketball arena or a music venue. Time to bring it into the 21st century as a music venue.
A. C.
We had priority tickets for a show. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. We had a really good evening
W. T.
Great evening watching Michael Macentyre! Thanks to the lovely helpful staff member, who helped us with new seating also, as original seating's view, was obstructed due to unforseen circumstances...very grateful x
M. S.
Great experience 👍
forgot how much I enjoy ice skating even tho I am not very good. it wasn't to busy. Skates avalible to hire and they have lockers available as well! staff were friendly and in good spirits. only con is the skates are not very comfortable, would recommend taking thick socks with you.
R. K.
Admittedly the show hasn't started yet and I know that's going to brilliant as always, especially as it's an amazing human being who has been where I can only dream(Tim Peake)
This review is for the venue and the services. I don't understand, in this time where we are all consumed with consumables, bringing either and empty water bottle or reusable cup for any drink hot or cold, is denied.
I have left my expensive reusable cup outside in the hopes that it will be there when it finishes.
To this end the bar and or cafe is not going to have my custom.
I know there is never enough staff/drink facilities to get a cuppa anyway but I would have queued like everyone else.
R. S.
As usual the sound was not brilliant but then it was as a sports venue and not primarily a concert venue.
Having said that if you get a good crowd the place can rock.
P. C.
The Specials concert. Plenty of space. Not over crowded. Plenty of stewards working. Really enjoyed the night. Usual slow bar queues. Maybe would be quicker to have pre poured lager and cider like other venues.
k.
The staff were wonderful as always. The whole place needs a deep clean, my shoes kept sticking to the floor on the tiered seating. The seating desperately needs upgrading too as it's so uncomfortable.
s. j.
Brilliant and well organised
N. C.
Visited the top bar for the first time nice layout, more relaxed & quieter than downstairs. Seat information on either side of bar would be helpful tho ...Wolf Alice were amazing!
C. W.
A venue beginning to show it's age. Need more hand wash facilities in the toilets. Needs better seating down on the "floor" but they do get done good acts in for the region.
S. W.
Sadly this is starting to look very run down. The seats used in the auditorium falling apart are in need of recovering. Always sounds more like a sport's hall, no matter the type of show.
A.
Saw Russell Howard perform, great venue but no food or drink allowed in sucks
m. b.
Great show and small venue means you feel closer to the entertainment. Seating could be improved
D. A.
Went to see Strictly Professionals, amazing. The venue has good access and very helpful staff. Good facilities.
k. s.
Saturday 12 till 1.
My issue is with the 2 members of staff on the ice ring. I had 2 girls in our party fall over, 1 of them twice and staff were stood talking in the middle completely oblivious.
Why don't they do their jobs.
S. G.
The show was amazing but the venue poor. The pavilions advertises as cashless but the vending machines need cash? There was no where to get some water once they stopped the bars except for the vending machine but whi carries cash these days?! Sexurity not helpful, good idea would be to have some freely available tap water at end of bar for people to take.
L. R.
Everything was amazing but the staff didn't give out the free face masks and there's so many raised bits if floor and drains , do all I would say is its a great venue bit sort the disabled access and placement in a room , under the balcony right at the back was a joke , couldn't see much at all
J. R.
Accepting current covid restrictions I was still dossapointed by the pre-show facilities. Long queues, understaffed outlets and practically nowhere to sit.
Great show and well organised but the oldest and most uncomfortable seats I've experienced in a venue of this quality.
S. J.
Fabulous show as always, lord of Dance. Long Queue to get in, raining everyone getting wet! Bazzar the search team were just inside door, why they couldn't be further back in foyer people wouldn't get wet and cold. Think they need to advertise on tickets or website searching bags, apparently its law in all mass venue sites now since the bombing at pop concert further up country. My friend had her personal water bottle taken away, she asked if she could empty it and was told no, I had sealed water taken away, not end world , but annoying when you don't know.
J. S.
Only criticism is the security not allowing bags in with medication to which they should.
G. H.
Great venue with such friendly staff. The seats were a little hard but next time I will sit on the tiered ones. Great sound and view excellent.
L. T.
Great show watched the Abba tribute,
P. P.
We travelled up to see Brendan and Giovannl, what a brilliant theatre for a big show.
j. J.
Jonh Richardson show was a lot of fun and laughs
C. F.
It is what is is, that is to say it's clean, the staff seemed lovely, covid safe. But it's an old building, badly designed, a huge space for so many people but awful entrances and exits. People queuing for over a hundred metres just to get in. Priority gates not signed up well and security staff telling people to just go queue (even when they had a pass.
Still, the show was great and the bar staff/porters were lovely.
A. B.
Apart from having NO cold real ale and No Lemon for the gin and tonics everything was first class. How can you serve real ale in bottles that has NOT been chilled l don't know. This is the third time this has happened to me.
P. T.
Great venue, went to see James Martin and it was superb. Great staff too, really friendly. Seating is a bit snug though!
G. L.
Watched Michael Mcintyre here, he was great as usual. Drinks are very expensive the seating isn't the best.
s. s.
Fab, could have done with more food Verity, but everything else was great
J. J. J.
Been twice, once to see Bastille and the other week to see Jimmy Carr, great venue with half decent acoustics. The stewards could possibly probably do a better job of controlling flow of ppl and crowding in intervals areas
D. P.
Don't think this place gets enough credit. As the only real undercover large gig venue in Plymouth you've got to give them credit for the acts they manage to book.
J. A.
Great venue, good acoustics. Great bar. Toilet facilities were clean and queues short.
B. S.
Warm up bands were good. Sound was good. Queues were a bit long. Sound for main act was badly setup, other than that had a great night, good to be out again with friends.
P. H.
Had a wonderful evening with Steve Hackett in concert. I thought it was discouraging that security relieved my wife of her 500ml bottle of tap water, forcing her to purchase a new one from the bar. D- for green credentials there.
i. G.
Excellent well organised venue, easy to find. Helpful, friendly staff, storming presentation of Rocky Horror. Loved it!
F.
The bar queues are hideous. The seats are pretty narrow so not ideal. And a shame that a modern venue doesn't have any water fountains, especially when the bar queues are so big.
M. R.
Went Ice skating, I'm pretty good
D. Q.
Aussie Floyd, fantastic show as always
m. k.
Lovely place a big shame the ice rink is closing
K. M.
The seating could do with an upgrade, but we found the bar to be fairly priced and the staff were fantastic!
G. C.
Last visited for ice skating. Such a shame it's closing soon.
S.
No decent rum. Apart from that Coolio thank you xx Pixies Yay xx
A. D. (.
good not bad, huge place to party
J. M.
Watched Russel Howard. Very quick entrance process. Bag checks and removal of bottle top and the standard no food or drinks allowed to be taken in. Very quick smooth entry and little time queuing for a sold out packed show.
B. P.
My experience seeing rag 'n' boneman was amazing, however my experience in the pavilions itself was not. Both female toilets downstairs lacked handwash and desperate need of a clean. I understand how busy this place can get but handsoap is a MUST.
There was hand sanitizer station throughout but I couldn't get any of them to work. After entering at 7:30. Only 1 hours when they opened the lack of food was shocking. Also think it would make more sense to invest in a drink machine instead of pouring drinks from plastic bottles into another plastic cup.
G. W.
We visited the venue this week, my husband went to see Steve Hackett. I have disabilities and the staff went out of their way to look after me, and make sure I was ok. Every member of the team who I interacted with, showed me genuine kindness and empathy. We have no hesitation in returning to the Pavillions, and look forward to our next visit, thank you guys!
C. P.
Going to see a concert in these uncertain times and there was absolutely no social distancing. Nobody was listening to the staff at all. Was very different to the Princess theatre the day before where covid passports were checked or you were asked to do a covid test
D. B.
The show was fantastic. Why oh why were security telling people to sit down. It was a rock concert, for heaven sake. Really took the excitement out of the show
C. P.
Don Broco were amazing - As always.
This is such a great venue. Big bands are missing a trick not using it!!!
p. s.
Nice venue, has definitely had a facelift since I last attended. Good facilities but the chairs were a little uncomfortable for the long performance. They are not fixed seating and were situated with fair space between them. I would be happy to attend the venue again.
M. D.
Loved the event disabled area could of been closer had issues seeing the performers but nice staff nice atmosphere
A. S.
They get some really great comedians and bands here as it's one of the only venues of a decent size around. If you are standing at a gig then no problem, but if its all seated the seats used on the stalls are really uncomfortable. If you want a more comfy bum then sit further back above ground level.
A. M.
Steve Hackett concert was amazing. Plymouth Pavilions is Plymouth's only concert venue so, as such, it is a valuable place. The fabric of the building would certainly benefit from some renovation as it's looking rather tired.
p. m.
The show was brilliant but didn't think it was well organised getting in, if you take water with you they take it from you to go and give it to a person in another part of the building out side, where you pay £2 for them to collect when you leave and when you go to buy a bottle of water they take the screw lid off and the seating is narrow where you wound have to put the bottle on the floor which is even more dangerous with water where people could slip ,needs to be sorted out
J.
Parking can be a bit of a problem and you have to pay for it. No T loop for those with hearing loss. Apart from that it's good.
S. M.
Had a great night here
s. w.
I bought tickets for the front area just 5 rows from the stage and I couldn't believe the poor quality and state of the seats, they were incredibly cramped and I wouldn't go to a seated event there again based on this experience.
I've been to standing events and it's been great but their seating arrangements need a massive overhaul.
Johnathan Pie's show was hilarious and only marred by the fact we were packed in like sardines.
H. S.
Wonderful show, saw James Martin, staff very helpful.
Looking forward to our next visit to see Anton du Beke and Giovanni.
p. t.
Great Gary Numan concert. If only the promoters would provide more 'real artists' rather than the modern dross of today....
S. H.
Great venue, Paul Weller was awesome!
What a fantastic place to watch top groups. 👍
M. M.
Went to see Paul weller great night but it was freezing in there bar was quick and staff were very pleasant good venue over all
A. W.
Very efficient entry to event, easy access to seats and good exit at the end of the show.
G. M. (.
It's a good space but it really needs updating with more comfortable seating - I was in pain after about 30 minutes sitting down! Also the sound system is mediocre at best for the type of venue it is. The s sounds were painful on the ears!
S. M. (.
Saw Bill Bailey here and he was fantastic. Chairs weren't very comfortable but didn't notice too much as was enjoying the show!
L. R.
Absolutely great place, We went to see The Drifters & they were amazing we were constantly up dancing and singing along with them super, amazing and fantastic
S. R.
Attended for a Christmas meal and party. Staff were incredibly professional and helpful. Very warm and helpful. The food was pretty good - dessert was the best. The meal included a few bottles of complementary wine which was a nice touch. The music from the live band was excellent! Everyone was on their feet dancing all night.
J. B.
Had the best night here. Managed the high five Tim Minchin! Good facilities. Ques well organised.
M. P.
Very enjoyable event. I'm please to hear that the Pavilions are going to renew the seating and a few other things, as this will really brighten up the place.
B. D.
Excellent Venue, parked easily Bootleg Beatles fabulous.
P. R. C. A. B.
Somewhat draconian bag searches to prevent anyone from bringing their own refreshments. So having spent over £20 on a few ice creams, hot chocolate and a bottle of coke zero the lid is removed and disposed of at point of sale because apparently the bottle can be thrown. In my mid 50s, there to listen to Tim Peake why? And how? I would need an arm like Fatima Whitbread to get my bottle half way to the stage. So moving along the counter we collected our hot chocolate for the grandchildren and promptly put lids on the cups of hot liquid, where's the rationale in that. Seats uncomfortable as hell, no enforcement of face masks and all rather shoddy and run down. Tim's talk was a welcome distraction at the limits of being bearable while the numbness spread down my legs..
k. s.
You would think at price of tickets they would upgrade seating, very tired
P. A.
In seat row KK.. a little far back but with the rake you can see everything and the sound was fantastic
B.
The only venue able to host anything decent in Plymouth. In need of a refresh due to it being built when toys r us was running and the swimming pool, don't expect NEC standards, more basketball court and tiered seating, smelly cramped toilets.Due to the Pavillions, Plymouth no longer has a basketball team.
C. A.
Went to watch a Raiders game with the family (2 adults, 4 children)
Price of tickets is very good.
Game was very entertaining.
Seats and view are great.
Staff are brilliant.
Price for drinks is disgusting, over half the price of the tickets.
J. L.
This venue has considerable potential but sadly this will not be fully exploited until investment is made in the basics. Torn and ripped seating is simply not acceptable.
V. M.
1st band I seen was Deacon blue ,staff where great an helped with seating as my friend had broken her arm ,unfortunately we did have an unpleasant experience with a woman bouncer 2nd was The kooks and yet again the same women over stepping her mark with her behaviour.she needs to be addressed about this
S. B.
Lots of security, with a airport security scan before we entered which was disconcerting. Sound for the concert was great, bar staff were not so helpful.
B. M.
The pavilions are ok but the show that I went to see, Nick Mason and band which was amazing.
S. C.
Excellent venue with a great view of the stage from all the tiered seating. Bar service can be a bit slow but is very big and there are plentiful clean toilets, always a bonus at a large venue. Nobody wants to spend hours queuing for the loo!
z. w.
Great show but not much room pre show to sit for coffee etc and long queues to get past bag check!
D. G.
Good acts generally, plenty of room and amenities, quite pricy for drinks and very pricy for food. Food is of a very limited select also.
N. S.
Good venue. Saw fantastic Tim Minchin there. Clear view of stage from balcony. Doors not open long enough before performance so long queues for drinks. Would have been better if foyer had separate queue for food and one for drinks.
C. B.
The dirty dancing live show was really professional, the sound lighting and stage sets were amazing. The Mrs loved the half naked lead actor just a little bit too much tho.. 🤣
G. E.
Very spacious areana the staff are very friendly and polite and will go out of their way to help. We'll worth visiting.
J. F.
Difficult to park. There are no tables and chairs in the bar area so we didn't bother with a drink before going into watch the show. On the plus side staff were friendly and helpful and there are plenty of toilets.
J. h.
Great venue.. The acoustics, seating, staff, bar, lighting is all very good. I went to see Australian Pink Floyd and the venue worked really well for their big sound and light show.
B. C.
Its a good venue that's easy to find. A little cramped trying to get in when a shows on. Had a upgrade VIP option on some shows that are good to use. Bar is so busy to use. Lots of floor space once through to stage area. Seating is available upstairs
A. L.
We went to see the Blues Brothers and despite the cast giving it their all, the format of a dinner in the stalls area and the rest of the audience on the balcony unable to dance really killed any atmosphere.
It appeared that many fewer tickets were sold for both the dinner and the performance and it was very disappointing.
I would not attend another event along the same lines as I felt it had been done to increase revenue but had failed miserably.
I. R.
Went to the pavilions to see Bill Bailey, brilliant show. Coving check in was painless and quick, everyone wearing masks, great time.
N. D.
The seats really need to be updated, very dated. Looks and smells old. These are also pretty tight together so its not very roomy.
It looks more like a school hall for announcements than a stage.
Prices are fair and exiting the place was very quick.
This place just needs a good makeover
K. K.
Bit far to travel and the carparking has changed
S. R.
Easy to find and good access. The only problem is if you want a ticket for an event (and don't want to buy ticket online ) you can only buy tickets when the box office is open. Unfortunately the box office is only open when an event is on.
The prices in the bar are higher than usual. Seating is good and the stage is in good view.
P. B.
A friend of mine asked me if I would like to go and hear Bootleg Beatles, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go but I did so on Thursday 21st December 2017.
I didn't know what to expect the show to be like but I was glad that I did go it was terrific, they got us up from our seats and we sang along with them; my friend and I were sitting on the flat and we were eight rows from the front .
G. A.
Came here to watch Michal McIntyre! Was a brilliant evening out. The venue is very nice and has good bar and plenty of staff so it keeps everyone moving. Only downside is parking but plenty of places very close to park your car.
C. L.
This place is good. Needs more food/drink options and a quicker way out. Good for comedy not so much for music. Staff always seem happy to help and there is good parking nearby which make it an easily accessible venue.
J. P.
A very nice venue for concerts or anything else. There is also a very well maintained ice rink here which is set in an old Alaskan village creating a lovely atmosphere. Great service good for all the family.
J. S.
It's a big venue for the south west so pulls in some good acts, but the acoustics are not that good. It always feels a bit cattle marketish getting in. In the plus side, the view from the raised seating is good and Eddie Izzard was brilliant!
V.
Great venue, but they don't let you keep caps on bottle of soft drink. What's that about?! What if I dont want someone to kick my drink over.
A. D.
Decent venue with a variety of shows on. Uncomfortable seats for the seated events. Expensive drinks as is usual for this type of venue. Also not sure if this is the fault of the venue but added fees when buying tickets is outrageous.
D. S.
One of the few places in the South West that has top names appearing.
Plenty of parking on site and nearby.
As is usually the case with this type of venue , drinks are expensive and queues are long.
The temporary seating they use for the floor area are pretty uncomfortable so be prepared if you're there for a long show.
View from the central area of the floor is ok , unless you're not that tall or are in the front few rows , in which case you might struggle to see. Side areas of the floor seating when they are used is not good.
For the best views go for the tiered seating.
Sound and lighting for the show were good and Beth Hart ,who we went to see, was fantastic.
J. L.
Easy access, staff are all friendly. Seating was a little cramped (where we sat it was temp folding chairs so more likely the show than the venue, although the fixed seating is quite stained).
d. c.
ok visit shame about the rude gobby security guard
S. H.
An awesome night watching Billy Ocean, who was fantastic! Sarah Jane, the supporting act was very good. Very friendly staff and the security guards did a really great job protecting Billy Ocean from us middle-aged women!! Great venue, great night and great experience!!
L. B.
Michael McIntyre was great, but the venue shows signs of age, like the worn out seating. But good seating arrangements on the tiered sections, good deep tiers, so can see over even large/tall people. Plenty of toilets, and two different bar areas. Could have been quicker getting out if more exits open.
G. L.
I regularly go skating here and especially enjoy the Wednesday morning 'Coach and Skate' session. It is a shame that the swimming pool has closed, as it was the only fun pool in Plymouth. The arena is good providing the event is not a concert, as the accountings are not ideal, but great for theatre, shows and other events.
M. P.
Speaking for the concert hall rather than the facilities. In Devon we have nowhere decent to tempt any really good bands/acts. The pavilions was once the chosen spot after the coliseum closed.
But the sound is awful, the parking really isn't that great and the venue facilities are packed into a small space.
C. R.
We had an awesome time seeing Jack Whitehall... Great night out
G. F.
This isnt a review on the events but the actual place. The parking is limited, something I believe their website alludes to. If you want to park nearby then get their early and expect to pay £3.20 in cash to stay long enough for a normal show. Disable parking isn't free. As for the building it is decent enough. My only dislike are the bleachers. The seating is close together so the person in front is very close. Also they don't feel very stable, rather wobbly. But don't let the building stop you from seeing something there. The pavilions isn't a perfect venue but it certainly hosts some decent things.
V. H.
Good smaller venue
E. S.
Strictly the professionals tour was absolutely amazing can't wait for next year
N. H.
The biggest live venue in Plymouth and known for its poor acoustics. Seen some great acts here from the rock and comedy worlds but you'll get a completely different experience depending on where you are positioned in the hall. As Dara O Brian said, don't worry if you miss a joke, it'll echo back around again in a minute
C. L.
Brilliant venue , good seating, wine out of cheap plastic is not nice. Customers should be asked if they are staying in the bar anf if so they should have proper wine glasses. This was the only blemish on what was a fantastic performance by the Strictly Professionals.
H. E.
Good venue, easy to get to and plenty of local parking.
S. G.
Went to watch some live comedy there recently. Venue has a good "mixing" pot of different gigs on offer. Not the biggest of venues so obviously not all of the performers will travel this far south.
Only negative is the venue is slightly dated and like I said it is slightly to small for the major acts of today.
S. W.
Not a great venue. It's not really fit for purpose because it's so old. However, it still gets all the main acts (music, comedians) so for anyone in Devon and Cornwall, this is the venue you have to travel to. It's crazy that every single person has to walk through the bar area to get to their seats. The bar area is so small, crowded and the service is slow. The seats in the auditorium are extremely uncomfortable after an hour or so. And there just aren't enough toilets for the number of people the venue holds. Plymouth really deserves a new purpose built venue. However I still recommend to go and see a Raiders basketball match there as it is a really fun/entertaining experience!
A. M.
A bit disappointed with the security at a concert this month. A small rucksack was not allowed even though it was thoroughly searched and contained vital medication for my son! Whilst waiting for my partner to put the bag in the car I saw a lot of women walk in with similar sized handbags which were glanced at but ( quick check at top of bag, as was mine) not properly searched. We were unaware that the cloakrooms were not open, otherwise it wouldn't have been such a pain.
D. P.
Saw Michael McIntyre last week. He was excellent though I was disappointed and surprised there was no video screen. From the back it wasn't possible to see his facial expressions, very much a part of his act.
The theatre is a bit dingy, the seats seemed to be cheap and falling apart, the bar isn't equipped for the numbers of customers, and there was a lack of hot food choices on the night we went. But they do get some big names so we must be a little bit grateful.
I. K.
The Plymouth Pavilions is amazing. I went there in October for the NXT UK event and it was brilliant.
S. C.
Came here for the Ice Skating. Could not skate at the time we wanted as they were full. Not their fault as I should have booked and they have limited capacity for safety. Had an hour and a half to wait for the next session so explore the Hoe which was quote close. Inside it's an odd shaped rink but it's great fun. Worth a visit.
J. C.
Great time ice-skating with the grandchildren
R.
Say a live show Tuesday .. all seated venue and it seemed that you can see the stage with out any heads in the way ..sound was very good too ..
I. L.
Decent venue with very large auditorium. Long queue for the bar though.
L. L.
Our fault. Sat in front of stage on level seating. Our view was disrupted by much taller people sat in front of us..Saw Rhod Gilbert. He was absolutely brilliant. Extremely funny. Don't think I have laughed so much for years.
M. R.
Brilliant night out, thanks Jools, the orchestra and guest singers, particularly Ruby Turner and José Feliciano.
M. L.
Great venue. But to only have 3 team on concessions trying to serve 2500 people before a gig is crazy. Some people couldn't see the first half as they were denied entry until a break as they were queuing for drinks and snacks up to 30 mins before either start
A. D.
Saw will young here and it was a great venue .not to big so you can actually see the artist perform and recognise them .it's easy to find .many taxis go here but you need to book them.
J. A.
A great local venue to watch some big performers. On this occasion we enjoyed Russell Brand. Parked in the Car Park across the road which is linked to the Pavillions via a tunnel for £5 a day. Unfortunately this time the passage was closed. The queues were long to get in and long for the Ladies toilets. Wouldn't dream of queuing for the bar.
s. f.
Amazing show great value for money professional staff and acts really good night out
P. D.
Would have given 4 stars if it wasn't for the security guy telling me I couldn't bring in my bag the had my works uniform in, I had done a full day at work and was going with my Nan to see 80s Mania straight after but he wouldn't even here me out. Yes I know its his job but still all it was work clothes.
T. C.
We have seen many shows here. The last one being Jools Holland December 10th 2021. A well managed operation.
R. J.
Pavilions really needs to figure out a better system for the intervals of shows. Me and my friend stood in a barely moving queue for the bar the entire length of an interval and got nowhere near getting a drink! I wouldn't mind but all I wanted was water. Seems ridiculous after however many shows they've put on there over the years that they still cant provide enough service for the entire audience?
M. J. T.
Decent venue in the centre of Plymouth close to plenty of local amenities. A decent amount of seating was available and it was laid out well so you had a good view regardless of where you were seated.
H. T.
I like going here for the off-peak session, there's always very little people and you can skate more till 15.30 (when off-peak ends), and it's a good price for skating. Size wise, it's actually good enough, comparing the ice rinks in London I've used, this is a good normal size rink and it provides up-to-date songs while skating.
I use this local ice rink on my time-off and I love coming here. Plus it only costs about £6.50 off-peak if you have your own skates and have the place for yourself after 14.30 :D
R. B.
Went to see Jools Holland, if was a great night. However the break was after the warm up act which was only about 30 mins. The bar shut after that so you couldn't get any sort of drink for about 2 hours. Very poor. That's why I scored 3. They lost a fortune as there were around 20 people looking to buy drinks when I went out. There was also a steady stream of people going out.
B. J.
Felt very over crowded but I guess we have to get used to it some time. Great show, really enjoyed it.
A.
Courteous and helpful staff and great clean and nice ambience venue for the Roger Taylor concert on the 14th October
S. B.
Amazing show but slightly shabby arena (threadbare carpets, tatty seating etc). Refreshments of poor quality and over priced. But the show was incredible (Aussie Pink Floyd)
G. B.
Fantastic Jack Savoretti concert tonight
K. S.
Absolutely brilliant time, all my children enjoyed watching the patriots.
l. l.
Great for all events except rock ..the sound has to be kept down for it to be clear ..but most sound guys have it it their minds that your 'trousers flap and white noise..feel it in your chest etc' =rock . Rock CAN sound good at pavilions because deep purple on their first visit sounded amazing , we've seen Sophie Ellis Bextor here, and simple minds and strictly show. All of these were fantastic sound. But deep purple on second visit was ' mushy' sound ..and most of other rock bands we've seen there was similar. Yes rock means 'louder' but not at the sacrifice of the intricacies in the music. Great venue with fair prices and more than adequate parking, and staff were friendly.
C. H.
Lost in Music, amazing show
C. M.
Good family friendly venue, fun for all ages even saw a woman on ice skates pushing her pushchair around the ice. It gets busy so it's better to prebook your session
A. L.
Seen a Tribute act of Tina Turner on Saturday 8th February. That was brilliant. The Pavillions only open their doors one hour before the show starts, and allow you 2 take yr seats approx 30 minutes before the show actually gets started. Because the seating is tiered behind the stall seating area in front of the stage. There is no real designated dance area as such. For when people got up 2 dance. They simply obscured the act for those who were sitting down. The ushers attempted to move the dancers to the far side away from those seated customers on the first rows of the tiered seating. In truth this was totally disorganised by the Pavillion staff to control. They had no idea about how to actually partioning a dance area off, and which didn't obscure the views of seated customers. The staff organisation to better organise this SIMPLE task was well below par. Everything else about the Pavillions was good. Top Tip. Get yrself a high tier seat. You'll have an in obstructed view from there. Still good for acts though.
A. D.
I came here with my work colleagues for the Business Awards 2019. After living in Plymouth for three years as a student, this was the first time ever going into the Pavilions. When I arrived, a lot of decorations had clearly been installed for the awards. The ceremony room looked amazing. We had a three course meal which was great but not the best formal meal I've had. While there are lots of good things about the place, there are still some things that irritate me. Firstly, one pint of cider cost me £5.50. This cost isn't much more expensive than pubs like The Roundabout but paying that much for just a pint isn't very good value. Also, the toilets were not particularly nice.
c. d.
First visit to the pavilions. Impressed by the size of the venue. Had a great view of stage even from the side where we were standing. Great central location so easy to get to.
G. M.
Has a lot of variety, hosts performances, exams and has an ice rink! Ice rink prices can be very reasonable if you visit during 'cheap sk8'. Never visited for a performance but the venue as an exam hall works extremely well. Does need a bit of a do up here and there though.
S. M.
Great place! Huge and caters well saw Russell Brand he was fantastic
J. B.
Staff very helpful in every way .. we sat ringside for an amazing basketball match .. very wheelchair friendly but no 'Changing Room' here, but it's only 5 mins by car from Drake Circus where there is one .. great place for concerts too!
K. H.
The event was amazing.
The set up of the place was wrong and out dated. The women were in a 20 minute queue for the toilet and I questioned if any sort of emergency happened whether or not this place could evacuate us all in time or not.
t. c.
Seating could have been better but fabulous show
R. S.
Great place to go watch shows. Hopefully some bigger acts will come soon :)
L. D.
Before today had only gone to watch bands eg status quo. This time went to watch Tim Minchin. Pleasantly surprised to see seating which enabled everyone to have a good view. We were in row jj unrestricted view. It took a while to get in so we didnt use the facilities - only time for toilets at half time.
J. L.
Saw Paul weller here , good venue but drinks are pricy
S. L.
Saw one night of queen here recently and it was awesome, seating is good, great acoustics, staff are friendly but only downside was two pints for a tenner is far too expensive after forking out for show tickets.
K. N.
Brilliant from the moment they answered the phone untill we left after the show. I"m old and well travelled l cannot remember a more caring switched on team anywhere brilliant show Kevin and Karen wasn't bad either don't miss it
J. V.
Just been to see Riverdance at Plymouth Pavilion. Well worth travelling up from Cornwall. Would recommend it 100%.
Unfortunately the only seats we could acquire was on the flat and the seats to say the least, I had a numb bum.
One word of warning and this refers to bright lights and flashes of lightening which for me was okay but for others!
I didn’t see on booking form or tickets stating this, so be warned .
Two hour of very good choreography. Oh yeh, programs, £10.00 each.!
E. F.
Went to see the Marine band Christmas show. Excellent performance.
Seats uncomfortable for a long show.
M. G.
I've been saying the same thing for almost 15 years - it has so much potential to be an amazing venue but the sound quality is shocking. Its a sports hall and when you put loud music in it, its as awful as it sounds.
D. P.
Ice skating here is decent for what is available, the staff always are around for advice for us on our daughter who is learning. They need to get on with the mayflower ice rink development though. I don't think enough people realise the potential of having this asset within the city.
s. r.
Visited the ice rink here not long back and it was all ok until they let far too many people on the ice and it just became a case of avoid everyone else. Would also prefer it if they didn't let the pro's on at the same time - there's nothing impressive about swerving in and out of us amateurs
T. E.
Very nice evening watching Paul Carrack although the chairs are too squashed together in the better seats. Haven't been to the Pavilions for many years and it is looking good, must be said.
J. P.
Lovely theatre and friendly staff.we did have trouble trying to find whereabouts it was, could do with more signs!
k. b.
Seen two shows in just over a week the chairs could do with upgrading
J. S.
Plymouth needs more venues and better ones than this. A shame, but does what it has to cos there's nowhere else to book!
Y. B.
Good to watch shows. Used to be able to buy your ticket there to but its all online now. A wasted building now that the ice rink and swimming pool have been closed.
C. T.
Parking is a bit of a pain (I resorted to Theatre Royal carpark and yomped in the rain to the venue). There was a pretty long queue waiting to get into the Pavilions and the same at the bar. Not enough staff serving probably.
M. G.
I seen a very good show! Not to bad at all
E. D.
Roger Taylor and band fantastic, venue staff are brilliant, cannot fault anything. Will visit again.
T. S.
Seats quite uncomfortable. Took ages to get out during interval and leaving. Could do with video screens as it was hard to see Eddie Izzard clearly and his humour relies on facial expression.
S. D.
As a family we visit the Pavilions 4 or 5 times a year to watch the Plymouth Raiders basketball team. The venue is ok but the main hall feels like it could do with some updating. It has all the facilities you might exoect at a venue like this so you can get food, drink and have access to toilets etc.
F. D.
The show was great . All the staff were good in these times
A. L.
Not a bad place to hold events, clean, tidy, staff friendly.
m. w.
Wow amazing place the kids and mum all loved it we will be back. Just wish it was a bigger venue as it was a bit crowded but I guessing that's because it was good value for money and lots of fun
D. L.
Yet another fantastic show(riverdance) and very well policed by all the staff in and out. Thanks to you all.👍👍
N. D.
Went to see Kevin bloody Wilson the FUPC tour great night had by all. Parking is the biggest issue there
P. H.
I suppose we should be grateful that we have a performance venue in Plymouth. However, it looks SO dated and needs a serious revamp.
We went to see Bill Bailey and he referred to it as looking like (paraphrasing) "A muster station in the event of a civil emergency".
It was a showpiece when it opened several decades ago but due to a lack of investment, it has suffered and I would question its mid to long term future unless Plymouth City Council/private investors can see its value and decide to help save this much needed local entertainment venue.

Could work on getting queues through the doors quicker on freezing cold nights! Once inside the space is good but the removable seating used on the floor is not the most comfortable.

Great strictly dance show, excellent.
T. V.
The seats are uncomfortable, the bar shuts to quickly this is a reflection on the show or the organisation of the night as that was spot on.

I have only ever used the Plymouth pavilions for the ice skating rink so far and I have never had a bad experience. The ice rink is a decent size, well maintained and easy to access.

Great little place for gigs!
H. H.
Great place for events, but not set up for serving drinks on the interval. It is completely possible to que the whole interval and not get a drink before the bar closes... 🙄
S. H.
Bill bailey was great but the seating here is terrible. So narrow and uncomfortable.
J. c.
The accoustic arent the best and not enough bar staff unfortunately causing long delays at the bar when you're wanting to watch the act
G. R.
Good ice skating

Great concert again by the Specials. But please please please, sort out your sound system, Plymouth pavilions. 🙄

Need to get people in quicker & earlier, tonight was shocking they had people stood up at the side not able to be seated whilst the support act was on because they came in late......so then you had people talking along side everyone!!! Noisy, disorganised and embarrassing this seems to happen more often then not now!!!! Though I must say Ricky Gervais was great.
J.
The show was brilliant the seating is awful! They need to stop trying to cram people in and think about the discomfort caused by seats that only a child should be sitting on.

UB40 Wer great drinks are really expensive tho!! Staff are nice

Great venue and atmosphere seats could do with a Refresh though

The Pavilions attracts many great acts each year including bands, top comedians, public speakers and much much more.
There is always something on which is likely to be of interest.
The auditorium isn't great. The seats are uncomfortable, the temperature can be too hot and the acoustics aren't fantastic.
Despite this, where else in Plymouth could I watch the likes of Michael Mcintyre or Derren Brown?
Many of the big named acts sell out extremely quickly so you have to act fast if you want to stand a chance.

In need of refurbishment and over priced on food and drink. Hardly any parking and is not free. Having said that they have stand out performers who are worth every penny!
N. M.
Needs serious refurbishment. Seating and the general paying customer experience needs an upgrade.
We've seen some v good acts herecover the years and it's well located with some parking.

Good fun seeing Jimmy Carr. Could really do with 2 inches more leg room, my knee caps where on the balcony infront.

My amazing fiancee bought us tickets to see Jack Whitehall! What an amazing treat it was, outstanding live would love to see him again!
J. B.
It seems bigger stars are beggining to frequent this venue. On my first visit to see Jamie Lawrence, I was treated to the top supporting act Calum Scott and a surprise guest during the main event of nome other than End Sheeran!

Good venue for live music, drink prices were average. The bands were brill

Went to see Michael McIntyre. Loved it.
J. H.
Went here for a concert. Good service and plenty of room for standing. Could of have done a better layout for the bars, but otherwise a good experience.

Had a great night seeing Rag and Bone Man
Venue is not too big so was awesome
J. S.
Nothing but thieves were awesome.

This is a fantastic venue to see musical pop bands and special events like " Welsh Cousin Cage Fighting"
I have seen various Musical Pop Concerts at this venue. I have seen.......Keith Tango and Hairy Diamonds, Samtastic and his Cheese Board, Honktytonk Boytown, Plastic Ballistics and Playground Rubber Bullets. There have been many concerts I haven't attended. I wasn't alive when the Beatles were performing. I don't know if the Fab 4 played at the Plymouth Pavilions maybe ask Captain Jasper or Ask Jeeves.

Friendly and efficient staff making the visit more enjoyable

Not great acoustics, and as an irregular visitor it would have been good to know that the walkway to the car park is closed but great to be able to see concert tours locally.
L. M.
Nice ice rink for the price, had lots of fun here for a session which is normally just an hour. Wasn't to busy and was easy to get round the ice as it was cleaned before we got on
R.
Came here to see Brian Cox on his Universal tour. The show was brilliant, however the seating was old, creaky and after nearly 3 hours - uncomfortable!

Music Gigs:
Sound quality suffers as the venue was clearly not designed for this function.
Unfortunately the city has minimal other options so Pavilions seems to have the monopoly on larger gigs.

Brilliant place. Been here to see music and to watch the Patriots play basketball.

Saw the Plymouth Raiders play.. my first basket ball match. Really enjoyed it. Great atmosphere, hilarious and hardworking mascot #followthefox

The staff are helpful and friendly. Everyone was happy to see us there.

Attended the Plymouth Raiders v Leicester basketball game last night with friends.
Lovely venue , tickets were booked online, so we were able to show and go straight in without queuing.
Atmosphere was great and I can honestly say . ...my first time and I thourouly enjoyed it. Plymouth raiders may have lost the game , only a hiccup as they will come good soon , the amount of effort from them was outstanding. Well done everyone and thank you.

Showing signs of its age now. Seats for the show weren't very comfortable and too close together.
S.
Went to the ice rink for the first time in ages and it was great fun. Had enough time to get used to skating and get more comfortable. Would recommend

It's a little tired - but it does the job. Staff are great.
