I highly recommend Rough Ride .They organised a 5 day trip for 14 of us of varied cycling abilities and inexperience . From the start Rough Ride gave me confidence that the challenge would be well organised and that we would be well supported . Max was an absolute star on the trip, exceeding our expectations and providing everything we needed including food, tips, mechanical support ,GPX routes, more food, shelter, humour and his wife's exceptional flapjacks. The only thing he didnt supply was decent weather - thanks to Max and all the team at Rough Ride for making it such a great event. We will be back when the sun shines...

We did the London to Brighton night ride, and absolutely loved it.
It’s a well organised friendly event with food, and water stops where you need them.
Definitely would do another in the future.

London to Brighton off-road overnight 2022. Very well run event. Very good fun. If only all MTB events could be run like this. Thanks!

We used RRG on a supported King Alfred's Way trip, Sep 2021. I cannot recommend them enough. Communications to start with was superb, with itineraries, GPX files, recommended equipment lists and so on.
Max was there to meet us at the start, offering last min advice and so on. He travels in a well equipped van/bikeworkshop/cafe, and will meet you twice a day with hot drinks, delicious homemade cakes (thanks Sarah!), and all manner of snacks to keep your energy levels up.
Knowing we had all this backup, along with baggage transfer between hotels, meant we could just concentrate on the 4 day ride. It was tougher than I thought it was going to be, but thanks to support from Max and Sarah and the rest of the folks booked into the trip we got around it, and enjoyed every minute! they setup a whatsapp group which we all used to communicate with each other - MTBers warning the Gravel riders about upcoming conditions on technical parts of the trail, or warnings about road closures etc. It was a real team spirit, with RRG at the heart of it all.
Max is clearly someone who loves cycling and loves what he does, and went the extra mile every time to ensure we had exactly what we needed to just ride and enjoy. I will 100% be using them again, and book with confidence! Thanks both.

What a fantastic challenge, 60 hard fun filled miles, riding with like minded people, all who were friendly, and would check if you were ok
The ride is definitely challenging and has a nice little treat in store for you about 8 miles from the end😳🤪
Staff ride along with you to make sure everyone is ok .

We did the King Alfred Way ride for charity and Max organised everything and was our support. He was brilliant and supported us throughout taking bags to the next hotel, meeting us during the day with food and drink, being there for bike repairs and advice and ensuring we cleaned and prepared the bikes at the end of the day. Conditions were really tough and Max supported us throughout - brilliant and would have no hesitation using him again.

I love riding , but am no good at planning.
Rough Ride Guide was/is perfect even fixing my accommodation mix-up.
I would recommend the to anyone who wants to ride without all the hassle of logistics

Max’s friendly and professional approach was a massive boost to our challenging 5 days cycling adventure on the King Alfred’s Way. His knowledge of the route, his ability to fix any bike mechanical issue, and his Tardis of a van with everything from jelly babies, pork pies, inner tubes, spare bike, spare dry gloves, water supplies, bike cleaning kit etc etc was outstanding!!! I would not hesitate to highly recommend him as backup support for any cycling event.

We cycled the King Alfred's Way May 2021 over 6 days, Max really supportive and a good bloke. We had a few mechanical issues on our own bikes which Max sorted. Also provided bag transfer from our pub stopovers. Thanks Max we will book you again. Bernie.

Did the L2BOR@N (London To Brighton Off Road @ Night) event last weekend, absolutely loved every minute of it.
I arrived early to ride solo, and everyone was friendly and willing to chat, building a great atmosphere to begin the ride.
The ride itself was a surreal experience riding out of London at dusk watching the sun setting while going past people in bars. The feed stops were well distanced, stocked and organised. The route was good fun overall.
We stopped to watch the sun rise over the South Downs which was a stunning experience before riding to the finish in Brighton.
Overall a brilliant ride/experience that I will definitely do again and recommend everyone has a go at.
Thanks all involved for a brilliant event 😊

Max provided fantastic support technically, morally and organisationally, assisting our ride to conquer the King Alfred Way in the most horrendous weather and the worst terrain conditions I have ridden in. The whole experience became not only doable, but actually enjoyable as Max envisaged and planned for the problems we were likely to encounter. I would heartily recommend the Rough Ride Guide for unflappable professionalism, organisation and for being jolly nice with it.

I joined the King Alfred's Way (KAW) guided ride on 4th to 7th June. The weather was fantasitc but away from that the support provided by Rough Ride Guide (RRG) was superb. For any rider on any bike this has to be the perfect way to do this amazing route without worrying about how much to ride each day, mechanicals, injury, etc. The support is there the whole time from RRG.
When I was planning to do the KAW I found it hard to decide how far to ride each day to end up at accomodation each night. Also, by the time I cost my time, the value provided by RRG saved me a lot of time and thus money.
I rode an e-bike to experiment if I could make a 500Whr battery last this kind of tour (60 miles a day off road). So to have the backup in place took away my range anxiety. Each day I ended up with 30%, 15%, 24% then 1% battery. The 15% and 1% days I blasted sections, again knowing that I could always call on support. I also carried a spare, borrowed battery in the support van.
The RRG team were faultless in every way. Twice a day we were met with drinks and snacks to the point that I did not really need to carry anything except emergency rations and tools myself.
I would recommend that anyone who is not a bike packer/camper looks into RRG as a supported option to do this fabulous trail. They also offer many other rides and will do bespoke services. You will not be dissapointed.

Rough Ride Guides really deliver just what you want from this sort of experience…great communication and information leading up to and during the ride, practical, hands-on support during the ride, fab snack stops, and all delivered with good humour and biking kinship. Highly recommended. 😊👍🏼

A really enjoyable 4 day tour of King Alfred's Way. Lots of information to help you find your way, refreshment stops were very welcome. Hotel accommodation more than adequate and daily distances well planned - getting shorter as time went by which was welcome!

Great event, well organised but not overbearingly so - ie they left a sense and a reality of risk. Will do something else with them in future, no doubt.

Great guidebooks, and customer service!

On Weds 6th July, 9 intrepid explorers, who’d never met before, of different ages, abilities, different bikes, tyre sizes, set off on an adventure that was to prove challenging but very rewarding and definitely memorable.
Organised by RoughRideGuides, this was a supported 5 day trip. Max (RoughRideGuides main man), transported our bags every day to the hotels/b&b. His van was like the Tardis and was full of tools and parts to ensure he kept us on track. His knowledge of the terrain was invaluable and helped us navigate the route, in most part, without issue. There were 2 daily checkpoints which gave us a chance to regroup and refuel - tea, coffee, water, energy drinks and foods - the homemade cakes were especially yummy (thanks to Max’s wife Sarah). Shout out to Max who has the patience of a saint and deserves so much more than a medal for putting up with our demands, which he always did with a smile.
Although this ride was supported, we all rode our own ride at our own pace and stopped as and when we wanted to take photos, visit historical sites or even wild swim or dip your toes in the river. Places to stop for lunch were suggestions only and if you didn’t make the checkpoints it wasn’t an issue. There is no expectation that you eat or drink together - so if you’re not a social animal it didn’t matter.
I cannot recommend Roughrideguides enough. This is the second ride we have done with them and my husband is about to do another in September.
