Reviews of The Hilt

Amazing experience. Our host Ethan was super enthusiastic, really down to earth and a genuine funny bloke. He was super professional and explained everything to us really well in great detail. He made sure everyone was having fun and included but also safe. The arena and our target throwing game was also really fun. Definitely worth a try. The food also looked amazing but sadly I didn't get to try any

We did The Hilt as part of a Stag Do, with a group of seven of us. We were looked after by Katie, who instructed us, held a tournament, and left time at the end for us to try out some novel ways to throw the axes. We had so much fun as a group, and although we did lots of other things on the stag do, this was by far my favourite. Special marks to Katie who was a fantastic host and allowed us to have fun but also stay safe and learn how to axe throw with proper technique. Highly recommended!

Amazing place. If you want to try something new this could be for you. We arrived for out session and when it began we were taken to one of the bays and told about the techniques for throwing the axes. Then it was time to throw. After a while we then got to learn some trickshots and practice those. There's also the opportunity to have a tournament between your group which does get competitive. Our coach Katie was amazing. She talked through everything clearly and demonstrated everything, coaching is all the way through the session. When we went the bar and kitchen was closed which was a shame, however still worth the money. Maybe it would be nice to have just some soft drinks on offer if the bar is closed.
Definitely will be visiting again

We went axe throwing and then for a meal and both were excellent. I enjoyed the axe throwing a lot more than I expected to. Reg our instructor was brilliant, very clear and gave helpful suggestions. The food was delicious too, looking forward to a return visit very soon.

AXE THROWING!
My brother and I had THE BEST TIME here. We popped in on the off chance without a booking and they were able to squeeze us onto next session. We had a fab instructor called Steven who really got the group into it and made the whole experience really really enjoyable. Finished the evening off with some food and drink in the bar.

What a tremendously fun place this is! We booked a private party for our teenagers and their friends and they had a great time. The staff were super friendly and gave a full safety briefing beforehand. Throwing was done inside protective cages and the throwers monitored and (were necessary) corrected throughout their throws. Everyone was given plenty of time to practice and then had a competitive throwing session to see who was the best thrower. Afterwards, we ate in the restaurant part of The Hilt with a very friendly server and had outstandingly good burgers, hot dogs and fries - all of which were Viking-themed, piping hot, good-sized portions and delicious! We couldn’t have asked for a better day out - thank you to everyone at The Hilt!

We had a great evening! So much fun getting some aggression out (sensibly and safely of course). We were with a lovely group of fellow throwers which made the experience. Our instructor, Ethan, was the perfect balance of funny and supportive- thanks for a fun evening. Definitely would recommend and will be returning ourselves too.

Great atmosphere and excellent guidance.
Katie our trainer for the session got us flinging axes faster than you can get out a war cry... after a quick and thorough safety lesson of course.
The evening was fun and intense enough to get the blood pumping 10/10 would fling axes again

Came for our sons 21st birthday. Had a brilliant afternoon. Our host/trainer Ethan was fantastic. Tried his best to get us all throwing our best, some of the group failed brilliantly 😂😂 but we all had a good laugh. Will definitely be coming back for another go. 5 stars definitely earned.

Went the other day, great experience. A canny laugh, instructors are really good and can get quite competitive. The food and mead in Odin's Plate in the other end are spot on as well, can't recommend highly enough
