Had an entire day speaking to different pension providers to condense my old ones together. Adrian Frederick at Smart was by far the most polite, helpful and professional of them all.
I've managed to locate & update my account, correct a wrong DOB, find a policy number and receive a welcome pack lost from change of address' in around 10 minutes.
Now reconsidering a transfer away from Smart because of him and looking into transferring all my pensions to this company.

Wanted to opt-out for a while and no one at work would clarify this to me so I phoned the Smart Pension and a lovely lady called Alex patiently explained and informed me about it.

Account registration.
I had a letter from SmartPensions sent to my old address. I wasn’t sure what company I worked before had me enrolled there. Gladly I kept the letter archived and 2y was able to register and access my fund balance. Had excellent customer experience from Vânia , who guided me and helped retrieve my account using my old details after passing the security check. Thanks again Vânia . Update:
After complaining about this here, Smart Pension has been in touch and fixed the problem perfectly. I got brilliant support and am really happy now. I leave this at 4 starts, as I think it should not have been necessary for me to force them to support us with this.

Only work with them if you are 100% sure of what you do and how the pension calculation works. They are unwilling to support you if anything goes wrong and they are sending false emails to your employees, causing unnecessary concern and anxiety.
We have been working with Smart Pensions for 4 months and have paid our pension contributions over direct debit, on time, every month.
Two weeks ago, we have been informed by Smart Pensions, that we are using "a wrong method" of pensions payment and that they would inform our employees about us not paying our pensions properly.
When we contacted them about the problem and inquired how we can fix this, they informed us that they will not help us, that we are expected to "self-manage" and that we need to hire an accountant to sort this out (all still under threat of them sending alarming emails to our employees).
When we asked what would be necessary to move to another pension provider, they informed us that they would not allow us to move our accounts because the money that we have maid in are locked in for 50 years.
I seriously regret ever having started to work with them.

Have been with Smart Pension for a couple of years as an employer. Great value at first but since they introduced £15+Vat per month employer charge from 1st Dec 2021 it is no longer the great value for the smallest businesses with just 1 or 2 employees to spread the cost between. Sadly I will revert to Nest which is not so good but free to belong to in order to remain compliant in these times of high administrative overhead for small business owners.

I would like to say that I have just received the best service from a customer advisor by the name of Roman Farion. I have had a very frustrating week with Smart Pensions and their systems. I have phoned 5 times in total and whilst every advisor was polite and mostly helpful they would leave me hanging at the final hurdle and say you need to open our attachment, read through it and it will help you or refer to our website. However, today Roman went just that little bit further and talked me through the process in lay terms and he was able to resolve my issues with out me referring to their website/ attachment. Hello to every one. I must say that I have never seen a better pension company than smart pension. All the staff working for smart pension are very helpful and they will guide you if there is any mistake or any difficult task. I am so proud that their staff are well trained and very polite when they talk. I wish if all my clients would have been with smart pension.
I have a client who set up the pension scheme with a company called CPL AUTO and I have noticed that to get in touch with the support help line it will take at least 30 minutes for some one to answer. very poor service and their reports are not good at all.

I have to say that SMART Pension is hands down the best service company I have dealt with, not just best Pension company, but best company and I am not often impressed by large service providers. The online portal is user friendly and clear, the help guides are useful and above all the online chat and email support, particularly in my case from Zsuzsannah, is second to none. I like the product and the layout online, it's fairly user friendly. I have successfully managed to get our workplace pension up and running and we are fully compliant, which is great. I have had very good responses from customer service via email and they have always resolved any issues or queries I have had. Zsuzsanna in particular is a star.
However, the issue I have is that no one picks up the phone. I don't want to leave a voicemail - I only work 4 hours a day and 9 times out of ten by the time the message has been picked up I've left the office for the day. I had a query about maternity pay calculations and it's taken me over a week to get it corrected because the communication is so slow. The girls I've spoken to have been incredibly helpful and patient but it takes far too long to get a simple answer, which makes the whole experience quite painful at times. When I need assistance, I just want to speak to a person.

Ever since I selected Smart Pensions as our provider of choice, the help I’ve received from the lovely folk at Smart has never been anything other than fantastic - and I've had cause to contact them on many occasions. Great system, totally free. We are a small company and were looking for a company to help with Smart Pensions. I was able to set-up the system, calculate the weekly contributions for our hourly staff. So no costly accountant fees. Smart Pension creates a file which I just send weekly to our payroll provider, its as easy as that! Had one query and was able to speak to team at Smart Pension (Maxine) who solved my query in minutes.

I felt i should leave a review as the customer service at smart pension has been fantastic guiding us as a small independent business through the whole pension process. I personally want to thank Jess at smart pension for helping us resolve an issue also.
Only think to be aware of is that currently on the "to do list" it can show postponement letters as all sent out for all staff even if you have only sent one. This can cause an issue if you do not realise and may cost you later. I'm sure smart pension will rectify their system if they are hot on their systems as there customer service.

I have used Nest and the customer service is not half as good, so definitely recommend Smart Pensions for setting up your company pension scheme as you will need the support as there are so many small things that need to be set up correctly.

I'm an advisor with a few clients using Smart Pension. The support staff are fantastic both on the phone & webchat when there are difficulties uploading files. The scheme setup itself is easy, as are the on-going tasks. Depending on what payroll software is being used, it can be a virtually seamless experience! Would definitely recommend, particularily when using something like Brightpay which integrates. Most of my payrolls are ran using Payroll Manager which sadly lacks the integration (but is of no fault of Smart Pension).

Incredibly simple and effective way to set up Auto-Enrolment pensions for the 40+ employees of the business.
This is a complex area that requires thought, due process and expertise - unfortunately, like most I guess, I'm not expert in the field of auto-enrolment and was grateful to have been recommended Smart Pension.
They clearly understand the challenges facing owners and leaders of SME businesses and have, in my experience, created a process (platform?) that allows you to get compliant with a scheme that is backed up by one of the world's largest and most secure administrators in a matter of minutes.
Everything is set up online for you, so I was very quickly able to complete the details using our accounts package and sign everyone up, in a safe/secure online environment, and it didn't cost the business a penny. Perfect.
(They even set up some information leaflets and posters that were unique for our business that I've printed off for the noticeboards and had pinned up on the Monday morning - genius.)
Once I'd searched for recommendations and gained confidence in Smart Pension the whole process from start to printing out business specific posters took me less than 2 hours and gives the team a cracking deal and plenty of flexibility and makes the business fully compliant.

- When managing to get in touch with a member of staff they are friendly and do their best to be helpful and efficient.

- It is very difficult to get in touch with anyone even during their stated office hours as the phone wasn't answered after trying many times over several hours, there is just a recorded message directing you to leave a voicemail with your number for a returned call which is quite inconvenient for a busy small business owner. There was also no response from their livechat feature on their website.
- The website is quite outdated and awkward/ difficult to use.
- It isn't easily compatible with the payroll software I use (Freeagent).

PAPDIS files need to be manually amended and uploaded if clents use XERO, Kashflow or QuickBooks which is quite time consuming if clients have weekly payroll.
Works well with BrightPay but not so good with Moneysoft where, again you have to re-write the PAPDIS files
