J. M.We ordered our Nordmann Fir from John and despite him working into the wee hours fitting out and preparing the new Southside shop he went out his way to make sure it was with us on the day we planned to put it up, delivering it at 2.30 am that morning.
The tree was perfect, looked freshly cut and is no doubt the best real tree we've ever had, the extra effort made it noteworthy experience and I wish him and Nicola all the best in the new shop.
Hopefully he's not out delivering on the 24th or he'll be getting in the way of the big man himself!

F.Over the last year, between lockdown and wanting to enjoy more local shops, I came across a family-run business called Barvas & James and decided to treat myself to some beautiful flowers while I worked away at home. Their bouquets lift my spirit every time I walk into the room. I soon found out that they do more than plants and flowers, their fruit and veg boxes have fresh, seasonal produce which is overflowing, and always happily devoured. This year's Christmas tree lasted 6 weeks and still looked and smelled as fresh as the first day.
When I have a question or want to place an order, they are very communicative and helpful. And when I've been lucky enough to visit the shop, I always have the warmest greeting and manage to come away with extra goodies like candles, chocolates, pottery and jewelry.
This is a shop that makes you feel like you're not in the middle of a large city, but will go above and beyond to help fill your home (or the lucky friends & family you might be sending them to) with the most beautiful flowers and plants, lushest fruit & veg boxes, and best extras to boost!

The assistant also gave me great advice on looking after my orchid which is still going strong! Today I supported them in their new venture in these difficult times delivering fruit and veg boxes. The box was filled with excellent quality goods with a good variety of fruit and veg too. Love the dirty carrots! Thank you Barvas and James for providing such a great service to allow us to avoid big supermarkets and #shoplocal.
S. K.Great selection of plants. Large and small with occasional rare finds. Every plant we've bought so far has been in excellent condition, looking very healthy and well looked after.
The owner is lovely as well. Very friendly and always offers tips and information on the plants we buy. Looking forward to going back soon.
Ps. The shop also has some amasing colourful tribal looking pots that are great to bring some colour in one's space.
P. G.I absolutely love Barvas & James at the best of time - they have the best selection of indoor plants in the west end , beautiful candles and gorgeous plan pots. It's safe to say I'm their number 1 fan.
But in the current climate they have started doing contactless delivery of the most incredible fruit & veg box's to the community at such a reasonable price. It is difficult to get nice fresh things at the moment so this was like a tasty ray of sunshine arriving at my door.
N. S.I had a great experience at Barvas and James. They have the best selection of variegated plants I've seen in Glasgow. The owners are fun and friendly and if they don't have what you're looking for they can help source it for you. The prices are the most reasonable I've seen and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend a visit if your a plant lover like me or for gifts, lovely range of pots, candles and they have jewellery coming soon I think.

John is so helpful and was so patient with my lack of flower knowledge and my last minute changes! During my consultations with John and Nicola, they listened to my ideas and brought them to life which left me in awe on the big day. The number of compliments I received on the day were an absolute credit to them. I can't rate them highly enough.

F. D.Myself and my now Husband Jamie were married at the Lodge on Loch Lomond on the 28th of December 2019. We got all of our wedding flowers supplied by Barvas & James. Myself and my Husband were absolutely delighted with all the flowers that were used for our big day, as were our family & friends as some got buttonholes. They were in perfect beautiful condition, despite the awkward time of year that we chose to get married.
Barvas&James went the extra mile to ensure we were catered to without us having to worry. The flowers were prefect and creative whilst very fresh. We had lots of positive conpliments about our flowers on the day.
